Having seen the rest of the 1H wave, I'm conclusively choosing this 🐕 as my favourite set so far. Sure, there's no B-model, but it has the right blend of nostalgia and innovation. I guess you could say... it has The Right Stuff! (gets pelted with fruit)

I dunno, some B-model mainstays like logging machines and harvesters are getting the A-model treatment lately, plus the Mars vehicles look pretty unusual. But yeah, I see your overall point.

I finally got around to building the 42006-B after leaving the main model built for over a decade just recently, and the result is simply brilliant. Sure, it's not quite as visually polished as the main model, but I think the functions are more interesting. @PlopiNinetySix - I doubt I could have made that point with more eloquence. All very well said. Nice to see another TUFF Puppy fan around here as well!

The lack of authenticity is disappointing given how accurate 42136 and 42157 are. The latter is practically photorealistic.

I think one of the problems here is the curved shells on the back end. Angled panels (7x3) would have looked more accurate and allowed for additional detailing.

It's not that I don't want people expressing their opinions; that's fine. I support that. We wouldn't have much of a forum if there weren't differing opinions. If others think B-models aren't important, great. If someone disagrees with me, then that's also fine. It's just that I believe there's a right way to do it; using words like "nonsense" to effectively write off other's views and calling other comments "disgusting" is a bit strong from my perspective. Not everyone has English as a first language; also a consideration, as your post illustrates. But I think the language used here needs to be moderated better.

B-models are one of the main features that attracted me to Technic in the first place, so it's definitely affected my opinion of the theme and TLG, and by extension my buying habits. Of course, I can only speak from my own perspective.

Technic animals are awesome. Remember these guys? I can only imagine what they would look like re-released with today's parts palette.

The alternates for 42139 especially are a mixed bag, and to be honest it feels like that set was not designed to have an alternate build at all - it can only be an ATV. Designers on Rebrickable have clearly made a supreme effort in some cases, but I just can't shake that feeling.

Couldn't agree more. I don't mean to trash anyone who takes the time to devise modes and post instructions on Rebrickable - I love Philofred's 42004 alternates - but fan-created alternate builds just don't have the same feel as an official B-model. They compliment them nicely, but I don't see them as a viable replacement.
