  1. Those helocopter mocs are fantasic!I was attually thinking of modding the copter to resemble one of those copters you posted. Your mocs are a true work of art! Yes, i'm aware that the colors are different. I meationed that i prefered the yellow with blue arms, and that the badge has more detail as well.
  2. Wow! Great review! This set is better than i thought it would be! My only gripe with this set is gap between the trucks rear wheels and the 5th wheel of the trailer (The coupler that hooks the truck to the trailer). Seems like wasted space. Oh well. Nothing alittle mocing can't fix! Other than that it looks great! I had my girlfriend driveme to 3 different TRU's trying to find this set today. Seems like they haven't found there way to the states quite yet. Again, thanks for doing such a detailed review! eaisly the best set of the agents line!
  3. Look, i'm not trying to be a jerk to you or PSP guy, but what really is the point of doing this? You both said yourselfs that nobody liked it the first time you did, so what makes you think the second time around will be any better? You even started your last thread (Whitch got locked) that "You guys really aren't going to like this." By PSP guys own admittance, all you want to do is annoy people and be the center of attention.
  4. Umm.... ya. I really don't see anything funny, or intertaining about any of this.. Kinda of annoying actually.
  5. All stickers i'm afraid. Though i'mnot a fan of stickers myself. Some sets (like Ferrari for example) take longer to put on than building the actual set. This one is not as sticker heavy as it seams though, and the ones that areon there really give the set that extra touch. Printed would have been preffered of course, but in this case i didn't mind it.
  6. Thanks everyone for the nice coments! Its nice to finaly have a camera that can take some decent photos! makes doing reviews much more enjoyable! There is no real way to lift up the stretcher. Due to the crane arm being in the way there really isn't any room for any kind oflifting straps. The set does include a 1x2 plate with a hinge for the diver to stand on so at least he can hold on to someone, the crane lifts them up and then he can put them in the strechter. Thats my guess at least. As far as the motor, i don't believe it uses bateries since you pull out the motor, and all the button does is recoil the winch line back in. I have to say it does a very good job of that, and is very smooth. (as long as you don't have anything to heavy) One detail i forgot to meation is the shark. Its nothing new, just the basic shark lego has had around for nealy 2 decades, but it was a detail nothing less.
  7. Came across this on brickshelf. I did a quick search and could only find the set number, but no picture to go with it. If it has been seen before already my apoligies.
  8. And what wrong with that? We don'thave a peice count as of yet, so its really to early to tell what the price is going to be.
  9. i can defenatly understand about the balance of the humans and transformers, but i don't agree that it was to bad. Would it have been better to see more of the TF's? Absolutley. But i think budget had alot to do with that. not sure if its really fair to compare the amount of human/TF interaction with the cartoons, since both the humans and TF were both cartoon animated. In this case, budget doesn't com into play while in the movie it plays a huge factor. While i think the Alternators line is great, i don't see them working for the movie due to how basic the designs really are. While defentaly more complex anything from G1, they do carry that "blockyness" that the film bay was trying to aviod. Given the opertunity to due a movie with Tf name, i kinda felt it was there duty to create the most detailed TF that they could given the technology that they had accses to. Rememeber, its just not fans that are going to see these movies. They need to be catered to the general public as well, and when it comes to animation the general public can be preety brutal if they don't see somthing ground breaking. I'm not saying that the designs were perfect. I agree with most that Megatrons design was all jacked up. Frenzy while a good character and having exellent detail was acctually to complex. So complex, that we couldn't get a toy made. But while not perfect, i still felt that overall there appearance on screen with ground breaking. Like'em or not, the amount of detail used was defenatly impressive to see on screen. I will agree that in certain angles some of the bots transformation differed from scence to scene. You would think that they would pick a transformation and stick with it. But for the most part they stayed the same. Prime and bumble bee were good examples. As far as the movie designs in relation to there prespective toys go, i think the toys are good representations of there on screen counterparts. Some are of course better than others, but overall i think they all capture the same lines and part transformations. Ironhide, Bumble Bee and Bonecrusher are probbly the better examples. Espeacially Ironhide. We'll see how the second movie pans out. My biggest fear is that there rushing the production of the second movie. Hopfully they learned alot from the first movie. We'll see how it all pans out. I'm sure we'll stat seeing some preliminary TF pics, as well as a teaser trailer by as early as the end of summer.
  10. So i just piced up a new digital camera and i thought what better way to try it than doing a review of my newest set. The new 7738 Coast Guard Helicopter! itsmy first review, so go easy on me! lets start off with the small stuff. First the mini figs. You get 4 figs total. Two helicopter pilots, a diver and a civilan to rescue. The torso's are nothing new on the pilot and diver. Same ones as in the last coast guard line. But i like the colors alot better in this coast guard line than the previous generation. The yellow and blue really work well together and the coloring on the badge looks great! The civilian looks to be just a dock worker with an overall torso and a beenie. The diver has nice vented helmet and a pair of flippers that suits his duty perfect! Next we have an absolute work of lego art. The rescue raft! The orange flaps can be moved back for easy entry to the raft, as well as the white "support" beams with the caution tape. I put support in perenthaces cause they really don't support anything. Just there to fill in the gaps. At the top of the raft is a red locator beacon, ccommunications antenna, and a cargo loop for lifting the raft. lets move on to the interior of the raft. Not much here. But you can see the techinc beam that attaches to the top loop, and to the floor of the raft. So far this has proven to be very sturdy and has supported the full weight of the raft quite well. You can also see the white box that holds the equipment of the raft. Here you can see the life saver tube. Here's a shot with our dock worker peaking out the side. The raft says max ocupants 4, but with the storage box, that might be a tight fit. Now lets move on to the Helicopter! in my opinion this is one of the best helicopters TLC has come out with to date. I really felt they captured the look and proportions of a real Coast Guard helicopter. it uses a lower hull and tail section of the new airliner, and cargo airplane. It really seems to work well with this application. The engines have good detail using new "cheese graders" as vents, as well as the new engine stacks that come in the new speed racer sets. The rotors also appear to be new as well. lets move on to the cockpit. We have two seats for our pilots with a sticker sheet for intruments on a flat 4 wide plate. There's also an antena being used as a flight stick. Another shot with our pilots at the helm. Now lets moveon to the high lihgt of this heavy lifting machine. The med bay, and lifting winch. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/5150Lego...icopter_020.jpg here you can see the winch arm at rest, along with the medical strechter. The bad part is that the med. strechter doesn't include the ussually included fold away wheels. here's a shot with the winch arm extened ready for rescue! In the second shot you can see the drum that the wire coils up in. It coils up via a recently new power functions "pull" back motor. To operate, just pull out the winch cable, hook on your load, and presse this orange button on the side... The bad part of the new power functions winch is that although its very smooth in its operation, its not very strong. It will only lift the raft a couple inches before it runs out of torque. It also has a tendency to want to pull the crane arm backin while its lifting. It doesn't matter if its a light load, or heavy load. The bay doors open on both sides for easy postioning of the figures and accses to the strechter. Here we have our diver looking over his rescue-e. Nice and roomy if you don't mind a crane arm being in your way!! At $39.99 and a peice count of 445, i felt this set was a great good considering what your getting. The raft construction is very creative and is probbly the highlight of the set by itself. The helicopter is probbly one of the best, if not the best helicopter TLC has ever came out with if you can get over its size. in a scale of one to five.... Price- Peice count- Playability- Design- overall- .5 I would have given it a full 5 out of five, but since the winch can't pull the raft all the way, it didn't fell it right. Even with this minor flaw, i still highly recomend this set!
  11. ..... AAnd there's still a good possibility that he might get penalized 5 spots for that too. The Force India team lost out on millions of dollors in sponsorship money since they didn't score any points this race. But man, what a race!! Without a doubt the best GP of the year so far! Congrats to Lewis Hamilton for a fantastic 1rst place finish! I knew he still had it! Not to forget about his teammate Kovalien. Came from last to 8th. Although ferrari didn't do as well as i'm sure everyone thought they would have, Felepi still got a podiem finish. Congrats to him. Kimi just wasn't on his game today. Bad for him, but good for everyone else i soppose. Renault? ...no improvment as ussual. Even ferrnado Alonso knows there no hope for a chapionship with them. BMW on the other hand is proving there a force to be wreckened with! The Canadain GP is going to be good!
  12. I acctually feel the opisite you do about the TF-A toys versus the Movie toys. Although to be honest, i shouldn't pass full judgment intill i see a more close-up of the animated toys. Though to be honest, though the TF2 movie toys might "eclipse" the animated toys,i don't beilve that it will automaticly just push them off the shelfs. But to be honest, thats really gonna depend on how well the both the movie, as well as how the Animated series is doing at the time. Idon't know how well its doing now I really feel that the series could do better if cartoon network would advertise the show more. While i'm watching the cartoon network in the mourning with nephew, there must be 20 to 30 comercials for "Ben 10" and "Pokemon-digimon" while your lucky if you see one or two for TF-A. Having toys on the shelf will help i'm sure, but somtimes i feel that cartoon network is just using the new series to fill a spot. Likei said, the series might be doing just fine in the ratings. I don't know. Just seems like its not a priority. From what i've read so far, the there's going to be a much better balance between the humans and robots since the budget for this one far bigger than the first. As far as the writing goes, can you give an example of what you'd like to see better? Better story line, action etc? I defenatly felt that the decepticons should have had more personality and lines. Even some of the autobots got jipped in that department. But i felt the over all story was preety good. I mean there's always room from improvment, but for the first atempt of a live action movie, i felt the writers did a good job. They had a good balance of everything to please everyone. I'm sure they've learned alot from the reactions from fans, and no-fans alike about what they did, and didn'tlike about the movie, so i'm sure we'll see some improvments in the new script. As far as the designs go, yes, i am a fan of the new designs. Both on screen, and as toys., for preety much the reasons you meantioned above. One question, can you post some pics of the aBinaltech/Alternators line? Its possible that the reason that they didn't go that route is cause they already did it. They might have wanted to do somthing new for the movie.
  13. My thoughts exactly. Its funny to look back on the coments of this line when we first saw pliminary pics, and how people feel about the line now that people have there hands on most of these sets. Just goes to show that you can't judge anything to soon! I knew a long time ago that there was potential for a line like this. Glad that the lego company finnaly came through!! Still holding out for mission 6!!
  14. I've noticed that too. I notice this alot with star wars. Though i don't collect the star wars line, i've seen many of AFOL buy out the whole star wars section. One time i saw some dude clean out all the ISD's and Sand Crawlers. His total was over $1500!
  15. Well i certainly hope there no casualties. Monaco is defenatly one of the best GP's of the year, but also one of the most difficult. Ussually the qualifing determains the race since its so hard to pass on Monaco. Congrats to Lewis Hamlition, Kimi Riakanion for qualifing 2nd and 3rd, and Felepi Massa for taking the Pole! Should be a good race!
  16. Its to give them more predominate roles for future episodes i'm sure. I justsaw the newest episode "Rise of the Constructicons". Kinda dissapointed that only two were introduced, but considering that they didn't even clarify who there aligence is to, i'm sure we'll see more of them and possible more constructicons in the near future. I agree. The TF-A series has been great! My only gripe is that the autobots seem to get there megablocks handed to them every time a new Decepticon is introduced. If they do win, it takes all 5 to take just one down. Not even prime seems to stand a chance by himself. So far i'm not to impressed with what i've seen with the TF-A toys. I dunno. Maybe once finnal production toys come out, they'll look better than the preliminary's. So far for me, the movie line is still my favorite. Speaking of new toys, on my recent trip to TRU, i found a couple new figs. Well, there really nothing new, just re-named TF Cybertron Autobots Jetfire and Sabere wing. (I believe that was his name). In all i think this was a good thing since i was in my TF dark age when these figs originally appeared.
  17. Thanks for the great review! I'm really liking these agents sets the more i see them. The car seems to have alot of features. Its to bad the the ejection seat doesn't work as well as one would hope. Oh well. Makes me want the big rig even more now!
  18. I have this set as well. Really great set. My only gripe with it is that it should have included an air tank with it.I addedmy own,and itmakes this set much more enjoyable. I got mine a couple years ago and paid $150 U.S. brand new in box. I felt that was a great deal! Ifyou can find one in new, ihighly recomend it!
  19. Great review!Thank youvery much! I think this line is much more promising than most orginally thought it would be. I'm onmy way to see ifican find the big rig right now!
  20. Lol.. Ok. Sorry, but you have no one to blame but Renault for there horrid season last year. Alonso saw that Renault had a lack luster car and team and they weren't making any progress. He saw that McLaren had a better car and team, so he went with them. If he was smart (and he wasn't) he would have had a better attitude during his run with McLaren and would have signed on another year with them and had a real chance at winning another championship. But no, he gets mad cause he figured McLaren should have put him as the front runner and his team mate tied with him in drivers point in his first year of competion. So now he back with a team that might have made better progress than last year, but still doesn't have what it takes to win a championship. And i while ya, there are some other teams out there fighting for points, its not in a postion that really threatens ferrari, BMW or McLaren. I mean com'on man. 29 point differnce, and you think these teams are going to be a threat? Not any time soon. The point gap has justs increases with Ferrari, McLaren and BMW with every GP,while the "low seated teams" hover in the same spots moving farther away. Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see some underdogs come up and complete with the big boys. I was (and still am) a ruting for the Force India team. But i just can't see how you think these teams are all of a sudden going to be a threat to Mclaren. Again, Renault is a joke. Yes, they have made Improvments this year, but not nearly enough to be a threat. And if they can't be a competitive with Alonso at the wheel, then sorry, theres just no hope. Hamiltion still has alot of fight in him. He's still a competive driver, and remeber that this is only his second season so he still has much to learn and things that he can improve on tomake him a better driver. As far as kovolian goes, yes. He has also proven that he is a very talented driver. Weather or not he's better than Hamiltion has bet to be determained. Still think that Felipi and Hamilition have a good chance for a drivers championship this year. But i do agree that Kimi got lucky last year. Though i don't think that luch has had anything to do with his sucess this year. I think he's more than capable of winning a second championship in a row. Again its still to early in the season to atain a winner. Going to be very interesting. Man i wish that the states would get a GP again. Damm politics!! P.S. Oh, and kimt, i love your signature!
  21. The "Alien" movie line just isn't aimed at kids. There aimed at adults. I had nightmares of the chest bursters when i was a kid. used to scare the crap out of me, so ya, idon't see lego doing this or kids wanting this anytime soon.
  22. Actually, speed racer opened up second, not third. I liked the movie. I've heard alot of people complain that it looked to phony with all theanimated cars crashing in mid air and jumping. But to be honest, i don't know if they could have done it any other way. Iv'e only seen a couple of original speed racer cartoons, but they seem to have captured the spirt of the cartoon. Its a shame that it didn't do any better. Either way, i think the toy (Lego and others) are great! Hopfully we'll see some 2nd wave sets this summer or winter.
  23. Exellent truck! Do you have any more detailed pics of the 5th wheel coupling?
  24. First off, no. I never miss a Grand Prix. Gota love Dish Network DVR!! Second, i find it funny on how your constantly dissing McLaren cause there behind ferrari, but hold the underdog teams as being more of a threat while being 29 points behind. Ferrari BMB, and Mclaren have a preety good jump over everyone else and that gap seems to grow with every race. Yes, ferrari is doing fantastic. Props to Kimi, Felipe, and the whole team. If ferarri is smart, they will sign on Felipi Massa for another year or two as he has proven his worth to the team. As far as Mclaren goes, ya, they might not be first, but they are no means out of the game. Hamilton still in second for points (Tied with Felipi). They seem to improve just a hair every race. Renault is a complete joke. Even with Alonso at the wheel, they can't seem to make any progress. Williams Toyota has a better chance than Renault does. All in all, its still very early in the season to determin a solid winner in both manufactuer, and the drivers race. Although to be honest, it looks like its going to be between Ferrari, McLaren, and BMW for manufacture points. There the only consistant teams at this point. Ones things for sure though. Monaco is going to be hot! Whom ever is on the pole, will most likey take the win as there are very few places to pass.
  25. While i can appreaciate your concern, i really fail to see how you did anything to offend this guy. All you did was point out what he bought. Its not like he was hiding the packages in a macy's bag, you tripped him and threw his IJ sets on the floor and said "Hey everyone, look what this 40 yr old man bought!! " I really wouldn't let it bother you. Preety much all of my friends know about my lego hobby. I'm not ashamed of it. I'm 26, and my parents will still buy me legos on my birthday and Christmass. My girlfriend happily goes with me to the lego store, and will buy me sets if she knows i've been looking for it.. Or somthines she buys me some just because. Somtimes you get mixed reactions when buying lego but none have ever been bad and if they were, quite frankly i wouldn't care.
