Sacramento!! Sweet! One question.. It meantions that vollenteers are needed to help build the models. How does one become a vollenteer???? Is there an email address i need, or a phone number??

Although i've never read any of the books you meantioned, i can see your point. But i think this proves just how hard the the job of the writers real is. Being a huge fan of preety much anything (espeacaily a story line with alot of history, and multiple stories) one eventually plans out in the mind on how they if they had the opertunity, to bring the said story to life. Weather it be a book, or on the big screen. If its not portrayed how we see it in our mind, then it can become a big let down. This is one of the problems when you become a big fan of somthing. Problem is everyone is going to see,as well as interpet things (in the case the books) differnet than others. This is evendent by the responses in this thread. Some agreed with points and your interpentation, while others thought thatsome parts didn't make sence, or would wish to change out parts of the story to suite what they "got out" of the books so to speak. Is this wrong? Absolutly not. Everyone is going to see, or what to see a story writen/represented a certain way. And there's nothing wrong with that. Personally, i felt everything after the first 3 (or 4, though 6) star wars movies just didn't hold water. Everthing aboutthem just screamed fake, and it almost seemed like they were just trying to hard. 4 though six had a very real feeling because for the most part,.. everything was real. No CGI ships or battle scenes. No CGI characters. No battle/fight scenes filmed in front of a green screen. They used models for all the ships. Animtronics for all the alien charcaters. The characters them selfs might have been people in big rubber suits, but at least they were really there. The orignal Star Wars was without a doubt completly ahead of its time. Personally, i can't think of to many films that can compare with speacail effects, or a well writen story.

Agred. Not to meantion i've seen alot worse on brickshelf. From mocs of video games ranging from "DOOM" to fatality scenes from "Mortal Kombat", to mocs of the "Running with the bulls". Like Hinkley said, sorry if you got offended by this, but i don't see anything wrong with this person.

Wow! now that is an exelllent moc! Very good! The level of detail is astonishing! great job!

Thanks for not hanging me at the stake guys! Nice to see that others aren't closed minded and aren't afraid to pick up some other clone brands if there to there liking. Well said. To be honest, i think i had my mind up even before i made this thread. Guess i just needed some encouragement! Next time i'm at wallmart, or i'm in the fecenity, i'll be picking up the 1:12 F1. I'm also going to look into the transport truck. heck, i might even role it around, and bring it out and play with it while i'm watching the races!
-
Ok, before you start throughing megablocks at me, let me expain... While at wallmart the other day with some family. As i always do, i leaserly made my way to the toy isle to see if by chance they had any LEGO on sale, or had any 1:18 scale diecast dub cars. While in the LEGO section i just happened to look down and there i saw it. A 1:12 scale model of the McLaren F1 car! I picked up the tin box (yup, tin box) and gave it a once over. Then i saw who made it... MEGABLOCKS!!! Being the LEGO guy i am, i was instantly struck with a bit of disgust. Why, oh why is it that my favortie F1 team has to be made by the ememy of my favorite hobby?? I put the box back, and continued my shopping. For the next few days i thought alot about the said megablocks set. I have even went on megablocks site to see it again. While there, i noticed that they had a few more McLaren related sets. Now, just so were clear, i DON'T think megablocks is even remotely as good as LEGO. The quality doesn't compare, niether does the building experiance cause as many have said in the past, they use many large one peice parts. (many parts are complete hulls, and body parts that are unusable other than for the sets they come with). But i know that there are others like me, that are big fans of theme's, or licences that only megablocks hold. For me its Mclaren/Mercadeces. other it might be spiderman, nascar, Pirates of the Carabean, Catapillar tractors, etc.. I wouldn't be buying this set to play with, just a mer display item to show my support for the team i like. It does do a very good job of grabbing the curves of the McLaten chassis. It actually isn't a bad looking set. It acttually looks preety good. So here's my question. Would you cross over to the dark side? I'm seriously considering the 1:12 Mclaren F1 car. I mean after all, when all is said and done, It is just a childrens toy right? I mean i know i'm posting this on a lego fan website, so some might see it different. So would i be a traitor if i did by the McLaren set? http://www.megabrands.com/en/products/desc...;cat=1&age=

Very true. Though i still think the possibility is low of a second wave, its still possible with the cartoon coming. Just cause YOU thought the movie was terrible, doesn't mean the line won't continue. There are some that thought it was good. Though the possibility of it returning is slim, it is possible with a new cartoon. Ya never know.....

Other than the original Autobots and Decepticons, there hasn't been any confirmations of any new characters alt modes. The only new ones i belive that have been confirmed, are Soundwave, and Arcee Word is that its supposed to be up somtime in September. I hope thats true. as for a transformer turning inot a bike, Arcee is either going to be a pink street bike, or a "T-Rex" 3 wheeler. Speaking of alt modes, sofar i'm really disapointed with most of the alt modes i've been seeing. Or should i say "possible" alt modes since nothings really been confirmed. Well there's twiceas many bots in the new movie than the first, as well as alot more bot action promised. So this could be an inclimation that they are trying to better please the fans. The first movie i thought was great, but you can always improve. I think both Bay, and the producers/script writers learned alot from the first movie. Hopfully a happy meduim is found tp please both the hard core fans and the general public.

As a part buisness owner myself, i can agree with everything you just said. Without profit, there just isn't going to be a buisness. While the idea may to be as true to the original "value" of the company, when all is said and done, most companies will change those set values as needed to continue if profitisn't enough to keep the buisness going. Another great point. People love to argue that lego has a "No violence" policy, but its clear that if they ever did in fact have that policy, it was thrown out the window a long time ago. When you bring up points that over half of the themes lego has contain violence, the next arguments are that you'll never see hand guns in any theme. When you start to see guns, then its argued that you'll never see guns in a sub-city theme. When that happened, now its you'll never see a contemporary war type theme. Its only a matter of time before that happens as well. But back to the topic at hand, this could have the potential for a good theme. I'm never one to dismiss any theme intill i've seen pics of the upcoming sets. With new theme's alwayscomes the posibilites of new parts, mini fig torso's, and faces, and just new parts in general. We'll just have to wait an see!
-
What? We've seen quite a few preliminary pics here before. What makes you think we wouldn't possible see any at a later date? And i don't see how wondering when the first pics of the line is being off topic. He just asked a question. Anyways, this new line could have a lot of possibilites. Heavy duty minning vehicles, bases, monsters... Hopfully it works out. But for some reason when i think of this newminers, i keep getting pics of current mars mission stuck in my head, since thats what a lot of Mars mission already consist of. So we can probbly rule out that this will be a sapce related theme.

Review: 8880 Super Car
5150 Lego replied to BerndDasBrot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, great review! I have to say i've always loved this set! I too can remember drewling over it when i was a kid! Back when lego catologs had true action shots of the sets, and not just pics of them floating in mid air! Great set. Maybe i'll luck out one day and i'll find one in the box in decent condition for cheap at a garage sale. I just can't fathom spending over 250 for a used one,and 500 for one still in the box! Crazy! But hey, i'm not quite sane myself..... -
Fair enough. But that quote you posted didn't come from Nolan himself. Just the dude that runs the site. I'm not saying, (nor did i ever) say that any of it was true, just that if there's that much hype surounding it, and more than one source has info on it, then there's a possibility that there could be some truth behind it. Thats all. Being on vacation, err,.. "Holiday" has nothing to do with it. Things can still get put in motion by others envolved. While the director might have the final say if in fact he will be doing a new movie, as well as others involved, it is the jobs of others to find ways to "modivate" him (Nolan) into making another film. Finding potential actors to play upcoming roles in one of those many things that might help producers and the director have a want to make another movie, and you don't nessasarly need a script to do that either. Somtimes the director already knows who he wants to play certain roles, and times there's auditions. (thats how Megan Fox landed her role in Transformers). Look,i'm not saying that Cherr, or Jonny depp will in fact be in the next film. Your right that its just sepeculation at this point. But there's obviously talk about it, as well as a 3rd movie. As far as Cherr being Catwoman, i'll agree that she probbly is an unlikely canadate, but not cause of her age. For one, she doesn't look 62 ( plastic surgery can do wonders for SOME people), and second, she is in very good health last i heard. She exersises regularly, and even does tybo classes. Its just that she really hasn't done anything film wise for years. As for Nolan only taking things "one step at a time", your right. Its not like were talking about this 2 months before the movie TDK. Hes had time to think about weather or not he's going to do another. He's seen the sucsess of both BB's,and TDK, he knows thathe has WB behind him. He knew a long time ago weather or not he'll be doing another. I'm not saying he will be back for sure, but odds are that he will. All i'm saying is take what you hear on the internet with a grain of salt on both sides. Not everything you here on both sides is going to be facts, and anyways, those "facts" could be changed at any time depending on Nolans mood!

I have high hopes for this one. I really liked the first one. Good action, humorous, exellent speacaileffects, and a decent story line. Hopfully they learn from there mistakes in the first movie and give us a great squeal to follow. From what i've read on the TF2 movie blog, it looks like there's going to be alot more bot action. Thats always a plus. Ireally hope that the autobots vehicle modes change from the alt modes from the first movie to somthing at least later into the second. All the picks we've seen have been of the same vehicles in the first movie. Though this could be part of Bay'splan to through people off of the script.

I really don't understand how you can just automaticly rule it out as being untrue. People love to think that they know everything there is to know about up coming movies, when in realality, they don't know anymore than anyone eles, if not less than people in the industry. While i'll agree that it is all just speculation at this point, you can't just automaticly rule out as it all being completly being untrue. And how exactly do you know for sure that it isn't being planned? Did you yourself talk directly to the director and producers? Whom from the industry told you for a fact that there isn't talk of a 3rd film? Actors, directors and all types of people in the industry attend hollywood parties, premier's and such, and its there that people start making chit chat about roles that they would like to play, as well as directors talking to actors they'd like to see in there films. So its very possible that whats being reported could have SOME truth behind it. Lets be honest, and be honest now.... Would you have ever picked heath Ledger to play the role of the Joker in the DK? I remember myself hearing months before that he was a possible canidate, but too dismissed it cause i thought he'd never be able to pull it off. Now look. Probbly some of the best acting iv'e ever seen, and i'm sure we can all agree that he did a fantastic job of playing the joker. I've too heard that Nolan didn't want to use the penguin not cause he didn't like him, just that he didn't see how he could fit that character in with his new batman adaption. Who knows, maybe him and his writers are working on somthing. Maybe he's pulling a Micheal Bay, and saying a bunch of stuff to through people off. Even though he hasn't offically signed for a third movie, you can bet that a third one is in some way or form in the making. The reaction to both movies have been so positive, and there's so many more possibilites for more stories, that Nolan would be a fool not too.

why are the 2009 sets preview deleted ?
5150 Lego replied to shimon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If TLC was smart, they'd read the message boards about there new sets, and then moddify them based on what we do and don't like. As far as trying to keep them a secert,...... well,..... Sorry, thats just no going to happen. Send out a catolog with all the new stuff, and its going to get out one way or another. Once it doesn, thats it. -
I'm in! Please enter me in the raffle as well! Thank you cop mike!

What Juniorisation? your kidding me right? These have to be some of the most detailed, and realistic sets we've recieved in recent momory, if not THEE most detailed setsTLC had ever given us. I completly agree. By far the best construction sets we've ever gotten from TLC. Period. I really can't remeber them giving us anything better. And i complettly agree that the size just adds to the realisim of the sets. Construction equipment aren't supposed to be the same size as the family sedan! The crawler crane is great! Looks like the boom is a new piece! I love it. My favorite is the construction site. Not only do we get a nice crane, but an elevator tower, building, mini excavator, and on top of all that, a real nice semi truck and trailer to transport everything to the next construction site! "Cause i'm the son of a third generation farmer.....! Been married 10 years to the farmers daughter....! Got two boys and a county 4-H, i'm the life memeber of the FAA, Heyyyyy! Thats a what i say, make alot a hay, for alittle pay.. Thats why i'll say... I'm a hard working, god fairing combine driver! Hoggin up the road in my pl- pl- pl- plower! Chuga-luga-lung'in 5 miles an hourrrr.... On my International Haverster!!!!!! That my not be the exact words in the song, but are from what i can remember from my head. Yes, the combine is fantastic! Lots of detail, and the colors are fantastic! great addtion to the farm line up! The 4WD SUV and hourse trailer is great too! Lots of detail, and the 4WD could easily be modded to be a full expetion rig! I think TLC did a preety darn good job for the first wave of Farm. I think they did a great job on the tractors, as well as the barn. Like you said, they all there bases covered. On thing i really like about the Farm set is the little lawn tractor! I'm surprised no one has meantioned it yet! The cows are great, but know we'll need some more animals to complete the farm! In the raiders of the lost Ark, Indie fell through the roof of the convertable. Thats why you see the hole in the roof.

Wow, modern versions of these sets would be awsome! Espeacailly the camper. But doesn't that seem like alot of city sets to be realesed for one year? Granted its just speculation at this point, but if we can get the horse trailer/4WD, camper, harvester/combine, and heavy duty tow truck i'd be happy. Its been quite a while since we've had anything like these in the city line.

Ya, and lego also has a "no violence rule" to huh? I'm not sure who your sorces are, but there are in fact guns in the agents line. Two hand guns in the mobile command center. And please don't use the "well there revolvers, and not modern day guns so thats diffenrt" argument, cause it most certainly isn't. Honestly, maybe there was a no weapons/guns rule at some time, but many lines licend and no licenced have guns in them. Batman has guns, so does starwars and as i and someone else have already pointed out, the agents line does have guns, so were in fact is there this so called "no guns rule"? I understand that Batman and Starwars are licenced lines and the idea is to keep as true to the story line as possible, but even so i just don't see this socalled rule being in effect anymore.
-
Well, while i understand what your talking about, i'd have to disagree. I think they are becoming more realistic twards the series and adding more detail to the mini figs to match the movies/series more. I think thats great. You make some very valid points, but i'm not sure if i agree intirely with what you've said. Personally, i don't see the ethnicity causing a divide between other themes. The ethinic figures in the Starwars line are meant to copy the characters in the movie series. I said this before that when it comes to licenced themes, i believe its TLC's responsibility to recreate the most accerate sets/figs they can. If the character in the movie has a darker flesh tone than another or apears to have differnt ethnic backgrounds that another, i really don't see an issue with recreating that same character in lego form cause its just that... A character in a fictional story. Now, that being said, i can see where adding ethinic mini figs in the city line may cause an uprising with some people. Personally i really don't have a problem with it and would welcome it. I'm all for a realistic lego city, and have mini figs of differnt ethnic backgrounds i think would be great. Everyone in my town are stating to look like twins. This doesn't make any sence to me. You do understand that he is responsible in some way or form of ALL the characters and vehicles in the starwars line right? Without him, you wouldn't even have a starwars lego line. Him and Lucus LTD. will always have a some kind of say in how they want the figs and vehicles to be portrayed. Like King boy said. Its buisness.
-
I completly agree! There alot of posibility for this line since they already have 3 movies to build sets off of. (unlike speed racers one movie) Yes i know there was a cartoon in the 60's, but there really wasn't anything else for Lego to go on)). Lost world is an absolute gold mine of vehicles and play sets. Could you imagine a Lego version of the off road RV in the lost world?? This would also give a great opertunity to get some lego Humvee's!! I really do hope this line does happen!
-
Couldn't disagree with you more. If it works, why not? There'sno writen law that says you can't mix the two. There are plenty of parts in there that would work great for Lego mocing. I'm all for it as long as it fits in.
-
Just goes to show you that it isn't over till its over. I remeber that with like 5 laps to go, the comentators were talking about how the points standing would change if Massa wins. They then panned over to the Ferrari Pits were they showed the team patting everyone on the back, and shacking hands like they had already won. Next frame was Massa's car with a pile of oil under it. Ihave to say that really sucks. Massa drove one hell of a race. To drive like that then at the last minute get taken out due to catostrophic failure and not even get a single point. Well thats racing. One thing my dad has taught me about racing is that its not all based on driver skill. If that were the case you'd see the same drivers win over and over. You gota have a little luck. I too would have preffered to see Henki win driving the race rather by "default" so to speak, but like you said.. Take what you can get.

A friend of mine bought me a late birthday present... Universe prowl! Reminds me alot of the classis TF i used to have when i was a kid. Modern day vehicle with the classic transformers look and transformation. I'm going to have to look inot the rest of the universe line.
