Wow. And you wonder why your first atempt of an Austrailian/New Zealand lego only web site failed. I have a feeling your second atempt isn't going to fair any better.

So basicly everything the bay movie had. (with exeption of the character development of the decepticons)

Technic sets from 2009
5150 Lego replied to legomilk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
At first glance it apears you'd be correct. If this is the case, this will be a real let down. If i remember correctly the price was $59.99 for the tractor. With this trailer i'm sure the price will be close to $100. Not worth it just to get a trailer. Good point. Its also important to remember that these pics are preliminary. TLC could very well be designing a new tractor and just using a different color 8284 for pic. reasons. Or maybe to through us all off! If it isn't the same, maybe it will include a PF motor to in the tractor itself. The first 8284 has a PTO, so i'm sure this red version will have the same to dump the trailer. Now this is a breath of fresh air! This is completely different than what i was expecting when i heard we were getting a crane truck. Very cool! I love the fact the the've included working outriggers and and 8 wheels. By the pics i does look like both front axles are steerable. But even if the pic doesn't decipt this, based on TLC's past with 8 wheeled vehicles the first 2 axles are always steerable. I see no reason for TLC to stop this trend now. I'd also agree with you that there must be a transmission to control everything. The picture only shows one motor, so i'm sure it will control at least a couple functions. Another breath of fresh air! Your correct that this isn't somthing that we've seen before. Its funny. I was wondering when we'd be getting a snow plow of some kind. While not quite original, but i suppose we needed a remake of front end loader at some point. TLC did a really nice job. Lots of detail. But i really do hope that there's some PF or at least some kind of design to incorperate them in the model. Other wise you'll end up dieing of exhaustion turning the crank for the from scope. Over all it looks like a really good sumer 09' technic line up. -
So do you have to be Australian or a New Zealander to join?

My ride. This is really my ride, not a random pic i found. Its an 07' Toyota FJ Cruiser. engine- 4.0 liter V6. 239hp and 260ftpds of torque Drivetrain- 5 speed automatic with part time 4wheel drive with low range, A-Trac 4wheel drive traction aid with electronic locking rear differential Modifcations- revtek 3' supention lift, devino 17x9' wheels with 33' mud terrain tires. TRD cold air intake, piaa foglights, KC flood lights, northern tool alley and rear flood lights mounted to roof rack. All wiring for roof rack mounted lights hidden inside roof rack tubes. GPS Navagation, laptop computer mount (for my work), extra 12v power points, CB radio, predator side steps, high lift jack, axe and shovel mount. As you can see, i love to go off roading. This is my first 4x4 and i have to say i don't think i will go without having a truck or SUV in my stable. The versatility and ability to go nearly anywhere is great.

They actually did alot better than i expected. The tank appears to be the only one with excessivly large parts. The aircraft and even the 4x4 (i think thats the warthog, or warhog?) aren't bad. The figures look to have alot of detail as well. I could only imagine what lego could have done with this license. Oh well.

Great review! I remember seeing this set in the catalog and drooling over it when i was a kid. Never got it though. Can't remember why either. This was defenatly one of, if not the best set of 96'. Thanks for taking me back!

Not bad. Not bad at all.

And what exactly did it have that every good movie should have? Don't get me wrong, i liked the original movie, but it wasn't anything ground breaking or anything. As for the voices... Well, those were just voices. Not acting. But they were good. But thats about it. Shia did a great job. Your to blinded by your hate for bay to see that.
-
Well, i'm not going to try and defend the movie, cause you obviously have a set opinion on the first movie and i'm sure nothing i say would change that. Thats you opinion so i can't really say its wrong for you not to like the move, but i will say that its wrong to say that a real fan can't enjoy the movie versions. There were quite a few "Hard core" fans that enjoyed it. For the first movie renderition, i felt Bay and company did a great job. Its not going to be everything you invisioned the first time out. Also, one thing you really need to remember is that this is a movie about giant transforming robots from outerspace. That alone doesn't exactly present an academy awarding winning script. A movie like this is made to entertain. Not make you cry and think. As far as G1 TF's, lets be honest. Those had to be some of the most corny and non thought out stories 80's cartoons had to offer. So its kinda hard to expect some masterfull script when the series its based on wasn't (script wise) all that great. I dunno. I guess as a kid i really didn't expect much. But thats ok. The action and kick megablocks transforming sound made up for it! Anyways, although it was just a short clip, i'm liking what i've seen so far. I think alot of the complaints people had about the first one will be addressed this time around now that Bay and company had some feed back.
-
And what exactly is a "real fan"? So its not possible for someone to like the movies and not be a "real fan"? By the sound of your post, it doesn't matter who makes Transformers into a movie. Unless its an exact G1 remake you'll never be happy.

I'd have to disagree with most of your discrepencies with theFarm. While sides on the barn and stable would have added to the athstetics, it would have hindered playability. When your a kid you want full access! If there were walls all around, it would have been much harder to gain access to the trap doors in the barn, as well as postion the cows. As far as the vehicles, the tractor, as well as the matching trailer are perfect! Thats the size the real dump trailers are on the farm. I think TLC did a bang up job! Anyways, the tractor and trailer shouldn't be built in proportion to the stable. They should be built in proportion of the barn and silo, whitch TLC did. The stable house the animals, not the tractors. I really like this farm. Not sure if i'll be picking it up, but you never know what the future holds!

Great moc! Looks just like the real thing. Great detail!

Cool! Glad you were able to find that there are more uses to the airplane tails than it looks. I moddified mine to allow the stretcher to slide into the back tail section when not in use. This then frees up the cargo compartment for divers. I also modified my cargo plane to do the same thing with a pallet of cargo. Now it can transport 2 pallets instead of just one.

Sorry, but all your doing is making excuses for the themes you like that have violence. While i do agree that there are different levels of violence, it doen't nessasarly make one more acceptable than the other. And to answer your question, no. I don't see a differnece the violence you described between Halo and "heroic" Han Solo. In many ways, Master Chief and could easily be compared to Han, or Anikin, or any of the jedi's in the clone wars. Just because Halo has the occasional blood splater doesn't make it any worse than indie or Star Wars. Killing is Killing. Just cause there's a lack of blood, or one has less blood than the other does not make it any better or "kid friendly" So you feel that someones head being cut off is ok, but a blood splater when your character died is unacceptable? Thats a very hipacritical attitude to have. And the worst thing in IJ isn't the head being chopped off, but is ether the guys heart being ripped out, (Whitch has plenty of blood) or the guy melting. (also heavy with blood, and not exactly a nice image for a young child to have before he goes to sleep ) Just seems like another example of trying to make excuses for the themes you like. Fair enough. I guess your right that the "teeny bobbers" have a harder time admiting still being interested in lego. Let alone telling friends or being seen buying any. But hey, there's always the internet for secret orders!

I believe this is a ride on lawn mower. Great review so far! Looking forward to part 3!

Such a tease....

I think alot of your concerns are going to be addressed in this new movie. From the little that has been leaked, or confirmed it seems that the bots (both decepticons and autobots) will get more alot more air time. At the end of the last movie it was said that sector 7 was to be no more. The one thing i doubt though, is that you'll see less of sam and michaela. There main characters so i'm sure that they (espeacaily sam) will have a preety dominant role. I'm really liking what i'm seeing so far. That constructicon looks great! Really different.

Thank you. I'm glad to see that someone else have opened thier eyes to Lego's (or lack there of) so called violence policy. I did read your post. While i understand what your getting at, you don't nesasary have to be a curtain age to play/colect lego. This is mainly an adult Lego forum. I'm sure many wouldn't think that adults are as involved in Lego as we we are. Point being, don't let age fool you. Your never to old to collect, or play with a construction toy!
-
I had to say your wrong. Halo has one of the biggest video fan following of any game. Regardless of the age it targeted at, plenty of younger kids play it. Are you joking, in denial, or just making excuses? The theme whitch you seem to love the most (i take this from your avatar) Star Wars is based off a war. The basic story is really no differnt from Halo. The fact that Indie and Star Wars are based off movies and not games, have nothing to do with it. If somthing has violence, it has violence. This makes no sence what so ever. All your doing is making excuses for other lego themes that have violence. Halo is no more about killing than Star Wars is. If you seriously concider every theme Lego has is just "fighting" then Halo would easily fall into that same catagory.

Is there line to be drawn when making MOCs?
5150 Lego replied to Derek's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm going to have to respecfully disagree with both these coments. While your correct,Lego is foremost a childrens toy, but it doesn't mean that it couldn't be used for other things. Lego has always been a way of expressing ones self and many times, there (Lego) used as art, or mocs that are not intentionaly, or meant to be seen by children. In this case, i see absolutly nothing wrong with recreating the Hudson river crash. No one was hurt, all that was shown was the rescue operation that took place. As far as the question of "Is there a line".. Well, i used to think yes, but my eyes have opened up a bit after seeing somones moc of a Southern Plantation. I thought to myself "Why on earth would anyone want to recreate this??" The person who did the moc explaned his reasoning and i understood thatit wasn't to decipt slavery or anything of that matter, but to show a moc of history, as well as the arcitechture of that era. Now if he showed a white mean whipping black mini figs, then i would have agreed that it would have been a bit much, but he didn't. And personally, there are many things that i don't understand why people would want to recreate out of anything. Weather it be made out of Lego, mega blocks, GI JOE, custome made or whatever. Though i might feel this way, it doesn't nessasarly mean they should be held back. It might be done in very poor taste, or "tacky", but it is thier right. Dragonator, I have to say that this is one of, if not thee most well thought out, well reasoned posts i've ever read on this forum. Very well said. -
