  1. No, your the one that doesn't see it that way. Your not giving kids enough credit. Just cause you see somthing a certain way, doesn't mean thats how others will. Sinners example of his kids playing with starwars is a perfect example. I'm sorry, and i really don't want to come offsounding rude, but why does this concern you so much?? I admire you pashion, but I mean really? There made up fictional characters made up by TLC. There not being tortured in any way (and no, having a pipe leading to an alien is not a torture device. ). There are so many things going on in the world that could use your efforts. heck, there are far more worse things in other lego theme's that i would concider "stereotypes" than imaginary characters being portrayed as the bad guys.
  2. Now i get what your saying, but it what there saying is still a bit contradicting. Its not like were asking them nor do we expect them to make a "street gang theme" or anything in that matter. I really don't think we give kids enough credit these days.I get the whole Fantasy vs. real thing, but i still feel TLC is being very contradictive. Espeacailly with the Indianna Jones License. They claim that "fantasy" violence with lazers and aliens and such are ok, but human on human violence isn't. IJ reaks of this. Perhaps there using the story line as an excuse, but bottom line the good guys are humans and the bad guys are humans. As for the police, giving them guns doesn't send any different a message. perhaps if the TLC put as much effort into Educating kids on the jobs of police officers as much as they do on months long introductions to thier latest theme, they wouldn't have to worry about kids getting the wrong message. I dunno. Call meold fashion, but i don't feel that one form of violence is nessasarly better or more acceptable than the other. At least not when it comes to kids.
  3. Problem is, even though your "comparing" your still implying your atraction to them. Even more so when you say its "mostly" a joke.
  4. You know, wether or not you feel your right or not, there no reason for you talk to to people in the manner that you do. Point is you still implied that TLC wouldn't touch video game based licences while the POP might be based on an upcoming movie, the movie is still being based off the video game. This makes no sence. There aknowlege that good vs. evil combat is part of kids play, and basicly are incourgaging it, but then say they don't want it affecting childrens perception of the "real world'?? This is crap. Plain and simple. All this says is... "At this point in time, we haven't found a licence yet that will give us an excuse to include modern day weapons in our line." ..But with the IJ license, there preety much there. Heck, with this reasoning, the Halo licence would have been perfectly acceptable.
  5. Well, you don't have to have seperate motors for multiple functions. 8297, 8294, and 8295 are all evedience of this. You just need a transmisison assembly. Although thats easier said than done. Adding a transmission, or coggs does take up space, so this can be a bit of a problem on some models. Ahh. Ok. The 8x4 is preety rare in the states as well. But seeing a fold away crane behind the cab is actually preety common. Even with a 5th wheel. This way there is always a crane to off load cargo off whatever trailer is in tow. Oh i agree that both have there high and low points. I'd agree that in the case of the new 88459 vs. 8265, LA are a better choice because of the ability to be more precise. My only gripe is the speed at whitch it takes them to work. Pneumatics are simply legos versions of hydraulics. I'd imagine that things would get a bit messy if lego decided to use real Hydraulics in there sets. but man, imagine the lifting power!! I would love to see this part to be made by TLC. A kind of a dual stage cylinder. Yes. The problem is, for the most part, the old sets that used hand cranks with worm gears, those paticualr functions were never the main function, and if they were, they didn't manage any heavy loads. In this case every set with LA controls a heavy load function. So while gearing it up might speed along the process, it will make it harder for the LA to do there job, as well as putting more stress on gears, axles, etc. I was a bit dissapointed that no one took any pics of the new techinc sets. Seems that nobody cares about techinc anymore. Sad really.

Meh! After looking at the camper again, i suppose it could be salvaged if i bought two, made it a tad longer, and added a slide out, or at minum a bed on one of the sides that fold out. So it may not be a total lose, but it will also need work!
  7. There ya go! Now see, there's always possibiltes, and i'd agree that a remote controll WALL-E would be great! To be honest, they probbly have already seen them.
  8. But the movie will be based off the video game. So his question is not far off. As for video games being to violent for TLC, please quote me TLC's so called violence policy. Not all video games are violent you know.
  9. Another vote for Wall-E! There's plenty of potentail there. Just cause you could only i magine a few sets doesn't mean it wouldn't be a succes. There could be WALL-E's truck house, the shuttle you speak of, Eve, wall-e, moe figs. Not to meantion all the robots that were being held in the repair ward. An Axiom play set, quad play set, Eve's drop ship, Wall-E's escape pod, captain's bridge.... There's plenty to go about. Quite frankly, this would be the only disney license i'll be looking forward too. I think this would have alot more potentail than the incredibles.
  10. Finnaly, a shot of the creator car transport truck! http://toyfair09.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=823 I like it! It looks like it even has steering!
  11. Very nice. But from the picture angles it doesn't look much different from the ferrari F430. I agree, lime green would have been sweet!
  12. To OP, Its a childrens toy dude. Get over it. There are alot worse things in life to get worked up about than imaginary aliens being portrayed as bad guys.
  13. Ha ha! That was preety good! To bad TLC doesn't have an acttual afro hair piece.
  14. Personally, i don't feel a back story is esential for a theme to survive. Thats one of the wholo points of LEGO. Build your sets and make up your story as you go along! These sets are also selling very well in northern Califorina. Preety much everything with exeption of the crystal sweeper is always sold out.

Sorry to be the bad apple, but i'm quite disapointed in the camper. While the opening of the rear is trick, it seriously lacks any real detail inside. Just a couple of chairs and a cup. I understand that there limited on space, but it just seems like there could have been a bit more. The Garage is great! Two work bays and a garage to house the tow truck (or can be moddified inot a third bay). Very cool. I like the sliding crane at the top for cargo or engine replacments. Sports car is lame. Nothing exciting here at all. The stand alone tow truck is really nice! Now what they should have done was include the tow truck, and sports car as one set. I would have gladly paid the price for both. Gives more playability.
  16. Beenwatching since the begining. Great show!
  17. Ok, then whom? I've heard alot of bitching from G1 fans that want a different director but no one can seem to through out a decent sugjestion.
  18. I think the main problem with fans like DarthsSion is that they need to realize that the movie can't just revolve around what only they want to see. Although the transformers fan base is big, its not big enough to cater simply just for them. Thats what straight to DVD movies are for. In order to be sucessfull around the world they need to cater to as many people as possible. This is why certain changes are made to design, story etc.. But as blockbeard has stated, he too is a TF fan along with his Brother and they too enjoyed the movie.
  19. Very good points. After having a closer look it does look like the trailer has its own dump control for the LA. But after thinking about this, it makes perfect sence. If it were in fact ran by the PTO, then it would only dump when you push the tractor along the ground. Hence the name Power Take Off. My guess is that they will include instructions to add on Power Functions. I'd also agree with you that the PTO will be included in this kit since it was in the last tractor and could be utilized with the addtion of PF. Thats the bad thing about these new LA. While i can appreacaite TLC bring us somthing different in terms of a functioning ram, it gets very old hand cranking these things. They really were made to go with PF motors. I'd agree with both you and Blackbird that for the most part, its just an 8436 with two more axles and some outriggers. But to be honest, i'm ok with that. Cranes, and trucks (American for Lorries) are still my favorite Technic sets. So i'm happy to see both combined. I'm surprised that your asking if there are real trucks configured this way. Based on the cab design it apears to be based off a european cab over design. I've seen a few pics of simular trucks in europe. Not so much in the states. My one real fear with this set is that the crane will have just enough power to lift the arm and thats it. Simular to 8421, and the crane on the back 8436. In stock form both had just enough to lift the crane arm in full extension, but not enough to lift a load. I really hope there's a purpose for those outriggers. Good point. I'm looking forward to seeing if this can be motorized. It will give my bulldozer a little brother! Hmm... I really hhope its 4 wheel drive. Considering that they were able to get 4 wheel drive in the previous front end loader, i see no reason why the couldn't incorperate it in with this one. Also, graders yes, do have two engines, but front end loaders (at least the ones i've worked on) have only one engine in the rear with a drivshaft trasfering power to the front wheels. See,this is my only gripe with the LA's. Having to crank for so long really takes away from the playability. LA really NEED PF to work at there full extent. Hand cranking them really gets old after a while, and quite frankly makes the sets that include LA's without PF less attractive. I understand that because of price they can't include PF in every set, but in cases like that, i'd gladly welcome back pnuematics.
  20. I kinda gathered that they were young by there responses. They could really learn from you Josh and i hope for thesucess of thier web site you have somthing to do with its moderation. I hope by running this web site they do learn that just cause someone is from the same country doesn't mean there going to get along any better than someone that is from another country. I've learned this leason the hard way but i hope they don't have to learn the same way i did. Sigh... This is exactly my point. Your not welcoming people based on there decent. That is discrimination. For the record, you really can't prevent anyone that isn't of Australian/NZ decent. Just like EB can't really prevent people under the age of 18 (like yourselfs) from joining. Second, the reason i was getting so worked up about this is because i can't stand discrimination of any kind. Wether it be because of race, geography, religion, its just somthing that i truely don't like because there really is no reason for it. Its not my intent to get your thread locked so i'll just end it here.
  21. Wow. You just don't get it. I was using the race as an analogy. And how is joining a classic space and hating classic space the same as a non Aussie/NZ joining the same the same thing? Your implying that anyone that is not of Aussie or NZ decent automaticly hates Aussie or NZ. And that is completly un true. Ok, now look at what you just said. First you say it has nothing to do with race. You welcome anyone no matter what race they are, but then you go saying "as long as they are of Australian/NZ decent". So while you might not see it as being racist, it is discrimination. Your saying that anyone that isn't from Austrailian or NZ decent is not welcome. Thats discrimination. Plain and simple.
  22. I saw this on brickshelf yesterday. Great moc! personally, i really like the size wheels. I think there perefect for the look your after. Lots of detail in a still reletivly small package.
  23. I really don't see the difference. And while it might be thier right, it doesn't make it in good taste either. If thats there attitude then i guess they should make there own website a find people with the same moral ethics as them.
  24. So i guess all the white people should start thier own Lego web site, and ban all the black people. Sorry, but i just kind of find it in very poor taste to restrict someone just of because of where they live, or worse yet what country there from. Don't get me wrong, i can understand wanting to get a local club toeghter as it your correct that it will be easier to get toeghter for meets, or vactions and such. But just becuase somone lives in the same country as you does not nessasarly mean your going to get along with them, or going to have loads in common with them either. I'm from the United States, but that doesn't mean that i'm going to get along with other memebers from the U.S. better than someone from Russia, Spain, europe, etc. Thats one of the reasons i like this website. Were all here cause we share the love of Lego. In the end, thats all that should really matter. I enjoy chatting with people with different back grounds from around the world. I thought it would be nice to be a part of another web site and get to better know people from "down under". Just cause i'm not from the same country as you doesn't mean that i'm (or anyone from a different country other than yours for that matter) isn't interested in the going abouts of other countries, or the world around them.
