  1. Exactly. The Mistika are really just an unimaginative mishmash of the Inika, Piraka, Mahri, and Phantoka. If only they had put as much creative genius into them as Pohatu Nuva...
  2. Well, that stinks. True. Like I said though, I'm not trying to make the toa that should have been - I'm just trying to make the best of the actual sets by fixing the most glaring elements. It's far better than nothing, at least.
  3. Haha, great. I'm not an obama supporter, so this was fine with me. Easy: BZP does not allow political or religious discussion, as either of them are a bad idea when you have pre-adolescents making up half of the board.
  4. Thankee. I knew he had a car, and that it had a name, but I wasn't quite sure. Yes, minifig scale Hyenas on! Some More Ideas: - Since Penguin is bound to appear again if they continue to make batman sets for several more years, how about a giant submarine playset, with a fancy lounge, quarters for his henchmen, and a big command deck with working periscope like the one we saw in the ORIGINAL batman movie. - Manbat set with Batman chasing a large, multipiece Manbat in a new version of the batglider. - Wayne Manor, with Batman, Alfred, Bruce, Dick, and a new villian like Clayface - plus pieces to set it up so the mansion is on top of the batcave!
  5. Welcome! Another Bionicle and Exo-force fan? Great! Hey, your MOCs in your gallery are pretty nice. Reminds me of the style I often use when making Toa and villians.
  6. Great choices. I have some great ideas on what they could do for each of them, if they made new sets over the next two years: Two Face and Bane - Gotham Bank robbery, with Two-Face, henchmen, a new bane figure that is bigger and pumped up, Batman, and BATGIRL! Killer Croc - You know what, a croc mobile would be really funny. It could be an amphibious vehicle that has a crock head and a green, black, and lime color scheme. And Robin could be chasing in a little jet car - the Robinmobile! Poison Ivy - Gotham Police HQ, with Poison Ivy taking it over and holding Commisioner Gordon and the cops hostage. Robin and Batgirl could team up, and for vehicles there could be a couple bikes for the heroes and a police car or two. Catwoman - How about a little boat with a cats face, with Batman chasing in the Bat-Jetski? That would be pretty good. Harley Quinn - Released with Joker and some joker goons in a giant Joker clownhouse. There would be room for all of joker's crazy stuff, like giant playing cards and jack in the boxes - and there would be lots of play features. Oh, and Batman, Robin, and Batgirl would be in it as well.
  7. Hahaha, great. This base is awesome - it really mirrors the feel of the official sets, and there's a lot of detail. I love it. Hey, so Dr. Inferno has a cat as well - Ogel actually had one in the very first Alpha Team comic in the lego mag, back in 2001.
  8. Well, honestly, I disagree with a lot of these suggestions. Firstly, I may have never said this before, but I think that the new blue, red, and green are far better than the originals. The old ones were too bright and kiddy for epic heroes, although they were great fir the time. Secondly, I stll don't see what's so monkey legs about the Inika proportions. Sure, they may not be realistic, but they look far better than the punyness of the original toa, IMO. The main problem here is that I'm not actually trying to completely design a new set of toa. I'm just working on modifying the actual sets without straying extremely far from the designs. All the changes here would be good if you wanted to just make a new version of the old sets. What I'm trying to do is to make a better version of the new sets, so many of these changes won't really work. But hey, if you have all these ideas, why don't you try to revamp the new toa Nuva? I'm sure you'd do just as good a job as me - probably better, since you''d be going for a full overhaul, not just modifications.
  9. Simply... Incredible. This is by far the most amazing starwars set ever, end of story. Better than the ISD, better than the Sandcrawler, better than the USD Millenium Falcon... just better than any starwars set before it. The detail on this is simply astounding - every major Death Star scene from both movies it featured in, all reproduced perfectly. And the minfig count is amazing as well - at least 4 stormtroopers, 3 death star troopers, a new black protocol droid, and even the old figures have new torsos! Of course, there's no way I'll ever get this set. It's more likely that I'll inherit the estate of a dying millionare. That said, I'm impressed that TLC undertook such a hard project, and I'm glad they've finally given starwars fans the kit of their dreams. Death Star ON!
  10. Actualy, I don't think that that was BZP's intent at all with that banner. I think the moderators and TLC realize that they will never totally crush the leak, since the internet has so many ways to spread it. I think BZP's just trying to say "don't discuss it here" not "it doesn't exist," as too many people know about it for it to just dissapear.
  11. Iron Man. That was an awesome ride. The special effects were some of the best I've ever seen, and the storyline was excellent. I only wish the ending hadn't been so abrupt and "now you have to wait for the sequel" like, but that was only a minor problem. My favorite part had to be when the tank fired a shot at Iron Man, and he just dodged it - and then he fired his own mini missile. Then he just walks away casualy as the tank blows up into scrap metal.
  12. No, and many think its because TLC aparrently stepped up the security to keep something like this from happening again. OR SO THEY SAY...
  13. Often I agree with the first, but sometimes you've gotta be careful when saying things like that. When you rise in experience as a MOC'er, the actual sets look plain simiplistic very quickly in comparison. However, it hardly means that all bionicle sets are incomplete. Sets like Jaller Mahri, Antroz, and others may not be titan sized in terms of piece counts or complexity, but they still look cool. On the other hand, the Toa Mistika are incomplete in nearly every way. Their designs are rehashed, the proportions are weird, and the features like masks and weapons are ugly. TLC has shown that they can make good canister sets - I just wish they were more consistent. Speaking of incomplete, here's some written plans that I've made for fixing up some of the sets I'll be getting eventually: Tahu Mistika – Tahu actually doesn’t need nearly as much customization as the other Toa Mistika – he’s easily the best of the bunch. The main thing he needs is a new weapon – and I’ll make him a nice flamesword using parts of his spinning shield-thing and one of the new multicolored Tahu Olda flameswords. I may also give him some frontal armor, although I’m not quite sure how I’ll do it. The rest will stay as it is – since his mask, limbs and jets look okay. Onua Mistika – Onua easily is the worst of the Mistika, and needs serious customization. First, the mask must go. I have a loose Onua Nuva mask from 2002 that will replace the ugly mask of shadows that he has on right now. I’ll also give him a new weapon for his right hand – probably a claw of some kind – and I may get rid of the takanuva armor shield. The most difficult fix will probably be giving him some bulkier armor – he’s skinnier than Gali, for crying out loud! I’ll probably use some pieces from my Whenua Hordika, which will be removed from display along with the other Hordika. Oh, and the jets – I’ll make those better too. Gali Mistika – Gali also needs heavy customization, although not as much as Onua. The Krekka mask will go first of course, replaced with a Kaukau from my 2003 Hahli matoran (sorry Hahli). I’ll give her some kind of weapon – maybe a large hook or axe – and will make the jets better. One possible idea I’ve been considering is to switch Onua’s limbs with Gali’s, giving the needed bulk to Onua and making Gali more slender. From what I see in the pictures, that will work very nicely. Icarax – The spinning shield arm stub must go! Yes, Icarax will have a proper right arm, taken from my Vakama Hordika. I may also see if I can give him some bulk in the lower body area – the Tridax pod looks weird paired up with his waist joints. The upper arms could use some beefing up as well.
  14. Great review. The hippy and the "story" at the end were hilarious. I think this was easily the best of the Spiderman 2 sets. You're right though - it wasn't movie acurate, as the actual movie dock was far shabbier and more trashed than this. Ah well, I guess TLC couldn't do everything.
  15. Well, we did get into a quick discussion about this in Deino's Hammer Truck Review. I said that this set looked great, and you said it looked kinda like a rehash. Nothing more, but hey, I did tell you.
  16. Great review of a classic set. I got all of the India and Nepal sets from this theme, and this was one of my favorite. I just love the idea of a "monster trap set," with a new trap and monster in each one. The piece selection is also awesome, and I too think that Tyguar is a bit underated. Overall, Orient Expedition and Adventurers in general were a light in the darkness of 1997-2004, which we all know as the dark ages.
  17. I don't see what's wrong with the armor - it looks very close to the normal dark grey in real life. The arms seem okay too, and the mask is really good, IMO. It's not nearly as Great Matatu as you'd think - a lot more like the original Akaku Nuva with a more streamlined look. As for the other two suggestion, I agree on those, but I don't have the Nuva shield, and I'm not taking apart my Nuju just for the eyes. I think Kopaka Nuva in general seems to be bashed a lot more than he really should be. Sure, he's not perfect, but he's far better than all three of the Mistika Nuva combined, and at least he looks like Kopaka in some ways.
  18. Happy birthday! Please, don't kill yourself.
  19. Don't push all the blame on him. It's far from an original opinion - a lot of the people in the 2008 set discussion topic on BZP seem to think that too. Besides, the unfortunate fact is that a lot of people seem to like the Mistika Toa for some reason. I'm sure the younger kids that Bionicle is aimed at are screaming with delight at these guys - if they even know that they exist yet.
  20. Same here. I'll be using one of the multicolored Tahu Olda flameswords I got in an Exo-Force kit, and I'll combine that with a couple of the spinning shield parts to make an awesome Version 3.0 sword for Tahu.
  21. I think that's the problem with many Bionicle fans these days - people seem to think that keeping some kind consistency with the previous versions of a character so you can recognize them is "boring" and "repetitive." Seriously, without a giant flipping fire sword sword, Tahu is not really Tahu, which is why he WILL be modded when I get him. Oh, and check out this - Kopaka now has even more alternate weapons arangements: This melee combat-centric mode was inspired by a scene in Bionicle Legends 9 that mentioned Kopaka putting the midak skyblaster on his shoulder, like Pohatu normally has it. The standard mode in the first picture I posted is for ranged attacking, while this mode is for close combat.
  22. Hinckley, because Hinckley is so obsessed with Fabuland that he has made many other members here obsessed with it. I don't think anyone else has managed to do that... Makes sense - after all, he thinks he started this whole revolution.
  23. Great work as always, Ralph! The A-10 is one of the few modern aircraft that I really like (I'm more of a WWII aircraft fan), and you've captured the bulk and fearsomeness of the Thunderbolt II to a tee. The engines and cockpit are genius - and the whole thing is high quality. Can't wait to see what's next for you!
  24. Very nice. I love that you're using some really unique pieces (giant skull, KK helmet), and the color scheme is great. And what's this? Custom torsos? Fake box art? Yes, I like this a LOT! BTW, how about you make a topic introducing yourself in the "Hello, my name is..." forum? It's kinda the custom to do so here.
  25. Ah, so you're a castle fan too, Visorak! Nice cottage. It's pretty simple, but it still has a very nice design. I love that the whole building is slanted - gives it a very unique feel.
