That is possibly the slickest fortress I've ever seen in plastic ABS! Awesome job! Oh, and love the Starwars Cameo.
-
No, I do too! The old octan minifigures are classics, and I'm happy to own two that I got in the Gas and Wash Express rerelease.

A lot of people agree that Mars Mission is looking great this year, and may even be starting to look like true Space. But I'm really wondering - what do you want TLC to do in 2009? I think it's a safe bet that we'll see some kind of space related theme next year, but there are different possibilities. Personally, I voted for the last option, because I think that whatever TLC does, it will be good. The second mars mission wave completely renewed my already strengthened faith in them.

Great find! I voted for Wild West, of course. Bring on the cowpokes and bandits, stage coaches and saloons! I'd disagree actually. Redwall may have plenty of peaceful bits, but there really is a lot of violence in the books too, and a lot more blood and death than in Starwars, and especially Exo-force, where nobody died.

Agents Misson 2: Swamp Raid (Pictures/Review) #8632
Zarkan replied to SirNadroj's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Not many words this time, but as they say: a picture is worth a thousand words - and your pictures are lovely! Once again, Agents is turning out to be a cooler and cooler theme with each new review. This set looks like an awesome parts pack, and I love the bike! BTW, anyone else notice the possibly accidental reference to Alpha Team? Agent Charge is back, it looks! -
Excellent review as usual, brickbitz. I really love this set. The moonwalker is amazing, and the alien craft is really nice too. I might get this someday...
-
What a great idea! I bet this is going to sell a lot of money if they do more packs. Personally, I'd love to see a forestman, a classic castle soldier, Redbeard the pirate, a Blacktron space guy, and maybe an original Desert Adventurers figure.

What faction from Castle do you represent?

Agents Mission 3: Gold Hunt - set #8630
Zarkan replied to Deinonychus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review, Deinonychus. Agents is looking cooler and cooler with every new review. This kit is the best we've seen so far - the jeep is cool and reminds me of Halo. And of course, the Jet is amazing. And the figures... oh man, are they awesome! Kudos to TLC for making a new spy theme that doesn't reek of the failures of Alpha Team. -
Honestly, whatever TLC does, I'll be happy. If they make a third year of Mars Mission, that's good. If they end it this year and make a brand new space theme next year, that's good as well. Seriously, this summer wave has finalized my faith that whether they chose the former option or the latter, they will make it work.

Very good deal, considering that Rock Raiders is an extremely underated theme and can be MOCing gold. Today, I got the small Mars Mission space fighter for 5 american bucks. It's a really nice kit, and is a lot like the old space fighters years ago.

Thanks for the reviews. Man, I didn't realize that the Truck and Jetski set had NEW tires - yet another reason for me to buy it. I agree, but considering that for several decades we had a total of ONE kind of face (the classic smiley), I think we're pretty well off. Besides, I believe we HAVE gotten a couple different faces - I seem to remember that the 2007 Train station had a couple new variations on the new standard smiley face. Now, if only they would use them in other kits.... I think that it's safe to say that standard vehicles like cars and trucks will never be 8 wide - it seems that the only kits that are 8 wide are giant construction vehicles and off road vehicles that you normally wouldn't see on the highway anyway.
-
Indeed. This new way of releasing Bionicle sets may be TLC's most genuis marketing strategy yet, because it makes us all feel that our collection isn't complete unless we have the canister set and the matoran rider.
-
That castle advent callendar is simply amazing - Finally, exclusive figs that you can't get anywhere else! We've been needing that to happen for a while.
-
Nice review, Hollisbrick. Great to see there's at least one Bionicle set you like. Yeah, I like this kit too. He's my favorite Matoran this year, and anything that isn't a standard biped is great.
-
Actually, I quite like it. It's no worse than the giant one piece baseplates with rocks molded on - and they both are great for building things on. BTW - it's actually not a brand new piece. We first saw it in 2006.
-
You forgot one - the ultra secret code that turns all the "generic soldiers" into real Nazis! Funny though, I don't know what you mean by "unaided flight" as a cheat code.

What game are we playing at the moment?
Zarkan replied to Mr Hobbles's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Right now I'm in a Metroid craze - first I was playing some Super Metroid, and just a few days ago I rented Metroid Prime 3 (had to rent it - saving my money for lego). Both are very cool games, but I think I like Prime 3 better, because it puts a bigger emphasis on puzzles and has awesome control. -
Well, it took me a while to get this demo working (a friend brought it over on a disk because my computer wouldn't download it), but it was worth it. Here's a quick review: Story - The cutscenes are hilarious as always, with all their clever takes on the movie. Belloq's C-3PO impression was just too funny. Gameplay - The gameplay in Indy may be stronger than in any previous lego game. They've added some great features - like pickupable objects and weapons. I like that they're putting a bigger emphasis on platforming, with things like shooting darts, spear traps, colasping bridges - and of course. the boulder chase scene (which I think changed since the very first footage of Lego Indy gameplay). You can even swim, hug walls, climb ladders, and other stuff! The special abilities of the characters are great too - using Wille's shieking voice to break glass is genius. Graphics - The lego-ey bits like the characters and breakable objects are a bit rough around the edges, but I'm sure that will improve in the final version. Plus, the backgrounds are lush and the animation is smooth as always. Sound - Lego Indiana Jones video game + Classic Indy music = epic win. Lots of sound effects too - and the minifig voices seem to be a bit more pronounced than in the lego starwars games. Overall - A really great demo, and a ton of fun. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go and try to find that last hidden treasure that I missed the first time. I think the problem is probably with your computer, not the game, because I experienced neither of those problems.

Amazing creation Blitz! You've captured every aspect of this beast of a machine, from the color scheme to the epic size. As Blitz said, this is from a fighting game called Super Smash Brothers Brawl - where you can duke it out with all the trademark Nintendo video game characters. One of the special abilities is to use an amazingly powerful attack if you get a special item - and this tank is one characters mega attack.

LEGO AGENTS - Mission 1: Jetpack Pursuit
Zarkan replied to Oky's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the review Oky! Agents is really looking amazing - a huge variety of awesome pieces, great models, and AMAZING figures. The agent dude is cool, and that cyborg.... May get this someday - I have to get at least one Agents set. -
Thanks for the fantastic reviews, brickbitz. This coast guard line is looking to be the best CITY line yet - since all of them are well designed. No poorly looking odd set out this time! (unlike in the second waves of Fire and Police - fireboat and police plane, anyone? ) I think my favorite has got to be the big set with the Boat and tower. I actually thought the tower was a lighthouse at first, and it looks like it could easily be modified into one if you got some doubles of the parts in this set. Kudos to TLC for pumping out the City goodness. Let's hear it for 5 years!

I watched the original Bionicle movie: Mask of Light. To tell you the truth, despite being a devout bionicle fan, I've never watched the first one until now, although I have watched the second and third. The animation and graphics were the best part, and the music and voices were decent, considering that this is a kids movie. The script... eh, not as good as I'd like it to be. Still, I think it's pretty good considering how so many direct to DVD movies have come out - and I hope that the second trio of bionicle movies that will start in 2009 are better.

Review: 7888 Batman - The Tumbler: Joker's Ice Cream Surprise
Zarkan replied to brickbitz's topic in LEGO Licensed
Nice review, brickbitz. I actually think this kit is really very nice for the size. True, you only get three figures, but it seems that's a norm in most batman sets. Besides, everything else is great. The tumbler looks like an amazing build - they really nailed this tank of a ride. And the Ice cream truck... Plus, this set does seem to have some neat pieces in it (trans green popsicles and lime hubcaps, anyone?). I think this far beats the rest of the batman lineup this year, which seems quite disapointing overall. -
Excellent review, Dunamis. This set looks great. The designers really though the kit out, it seems. The internal organs have got to be my favorite part, but everything is good. Now all we need is a UCS Obi-Wan with a laser pistol to finish off Grievous in a totally anti-climatic way!
