TLG wants your ideas & suggestions for City themes
Zarkan replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's what I don't get - Duplo gets all the good stuff like Zoos, Farms, and even a grocery store. Why can't City get them as well? I guess TLC's reasoning is that the action-loving target audience of normal lego would think that they were boring - and they're probably right. -
Piraka spines + Shine's genius = absolute WIN. Seriously, where do you get all these ideas? You really know how to use your pieces.
-
Yeah, noticed that too. I thought that was rather cheap - how hard would it have been to make the Toa metru feet in grey, or use some other kind of grey foot piece? Because right now his feet look really weird on the totally grey and lime body.

TLG wants your ideas & suggestions for City themes

Wait, what exactly do you mean by this? Do you mean that TLC should make a theme based on classic 60's towns, or just release old town sets? Either way, this honestly isn't a good idea, IMHO, because it's appealing to a special interest group instead of trying to make a theme that will please the mass amounts of 8-11 year olds that make up the majority of TLC's market. Also, how are you so certain that there are 10000's of AFOL's that only like classic town? Yes, there are a fair amount, but there's also a lot of people that have been buying lots of sets from the City line. A lot of AFOL town builders also are using the 6 wide vehicle style that City is using, from what I see in brickshelf galleries these days. -
What do you mean by that? I thought that it was pretty clear from the begining that Onua had silver legs, since the other two Toa had them as well, and since silver is the secondary color like grey was for the Phantoka Nuva.

TLG wants your ideas & suggestions for City themes

Well, I already sent two forms in. I suggested modern remakes of two classic themes - Race and Spaceport! -
Nice video! Bruce Wayne is brilliant - but I sure hope that Poison Ivy has special powers having to do with plants. Maybe a plant grapple or a plant tangling device or something. No more than having Darth Vader and Anikan Skywalker or Indiana Jones and Professor Jones working together on the same team.

35, 310 Clone Troopers assembled to raise money!

This is great! I actually have a form of high-functioning autism (Asperger's Syndrome), so I'm glad that TLC is supporting funding for research on this. -
Well, I honestly don't think that this would ever happen in the modern day and age of Lego. Besides, even the older space themes had hints of conflict in them. Blacktron - one of the most loved space themes ever - was basically a futuristic band of space pirates and mercenaries that the Space Police fought to keep under control. I think that this would be the best way to do it: Two human sides - a blue and grey exploration force, and a red and black evil mercenary force (this is different from the Space skulls and Star Justice). There would be a ton of large and small space ships, some rovers - maybe even some mechs more in the style of Battletech and the old classic space walkers. Both factions would eventually have a large command ship and space station or HQ released - probably over two years. There would be an emphasis on combat, but also on exploration and mining (think Mars Mission, but with more of the latter and less of the former). In later years they could introduce new factions - a space pirate theme that was separate from the two main sides, maybe a new alien theme, and so on. I think if TLC does something like this, it would both rock and sell really well.

Hm, funny you should say that - because using that logic, people would buy the Batman and Robin movie because it was "so bad it was good." So why is it that this comic is so good, yet everyone hates Batman and Robin with a passion? Note: No, I don't think Batman and Robin is actually good in any way - I was just saying. Yeah - before I and spaced came here, this topic was just Batbrick and Brainbox's personal chatroom on Eurobricks.

Lovely skin. Same here. If there is a cost, I probably won't get into it... BUT if it turns out to be really good, I might buy a short subscription just to test it out for a bit. Then at least I'll have experienced lego universe!
-
.... BLASPHEMY! Off with your head, heretic! Or not. But seriously, you like Doom that much? I can at least understand liking it, but loving it over Last Crusade and RAIDERS? Sorry for my confusion - but I don't really get that.
-
Hm, well, I actually think they look pretty cool. I can see where you're coming from though. Still, it's suprising that we're getting big technic sets at all - considering that sales data has showed that the kids don't like big technic sets that much. Hopefully these vehicles will sell well, because that will mean that we will see more big technic sets in the future!

Funny, because I could tell that it was several pieces right away. Why is this such a bad thing? It makes it a lot easier to MOC when the molds aren't all one big POOP. BTW, now that the Summer 2008 instructions are up on the official site, I naturally looked at all of them. And man, the big vehicles are looking simply AMAZING. This is mainly because they are just as complex - if not more - as the famed Muaka and Kane-Ra, and the Bahrag. It's wonderful that we're getting super sized and super complex technic builds in Bionicle again. Who cares if they're vehicles and not Rahi? I'm sure anyone who enjoyed building the aformentioned Rahi kits back years ago will probably enjoy building all the complex assembilies and features of the new vehicle line. Oh, and the rest of the lineup is looking about the same. As I though, Takanuva is a lot different from most of the titans we have gotten in the last few years - should be an enjoyable build. Vultraz is looking decent - but needs some serious beef on the bones - and Mazeka is wonderful. The Canister sets... I've talked about them so much that I don't really have anything else to say. Oh, and stay tuned - I'll be posting my Vamprah mod very shortly! Here it is! Personally, I disliked Vamprah at first, but now I've really grown to like him. However, there's still one major problem with the kit - the wings are very poorly designed. I mean, why are they sticking out the back of his hands? ALso, it simply doesn't look that great without some way to move the wings move around separately. So, I took the wings and attached them to a ball joint connector, and then attached that to the back of his elbows. I also gave him some better claws so the hands wouldn't look slightly bare.

Well, something like that (the quote's not exactly right, but mostly). And I think you have a good point about TSO. BTW, I'm not understanding why people hate the name Vastus so much. I think it's way better than a lot of the bad names we've gotten lately, and for some reason it gives me a mysterious feeling. Besides, if this was the name of the character, I think most would have rather had this than "Vorzzisk" or something.

Darn, as usual, Adobe Acrobat reader isn't working well online, so I can't view the Trinuma instructions. Could someone please post a picture of the finished build so I can see it? And BTW, Pencoin, Greg isn't a liar - he's just a very tricky guy when it comes to questions. He often says things that have double meanings - he once said that Mata Nui was not any one of the following - the island, the stone, or Metru Nui. However, now that we've seen the leaked video, we know he just meant "it is all of those thing and more, not just one." It's funny that some members think he's lying just because he doesn't give you the whole picture straight out. Well, I think were seeing the results of a question someone asked Greg:

Hey, don't be so rude to a kid you've never even heard of before. Maybe he just doesn't care about getting attention, and more about MOCing. Besides, his mods are pretty good - Tahu is better than he was using the official design, and the Gorast and Krika mods would do great as pre-mutation versions of the characters.
-
Bitil and Vultraz I don't think you were looking hard enough - a guy who took these pictures has a topic that's #7 on the hot topic list at BZP. It's Burrito God's Mistika review topic.
-
Hold on everyone - you're all jumping to conclusions based on one name that may not even be correct. We need to wait for more info before making any drastic statements.

Great! I guess I'll go join right now email you since I only have a free email address. And yeah, with a jedi and a sith as admins, everyone should keep in line.
-
Thanks for clearing that up. Maybe I will join soon. Can I expect any more great set reviews from you guys in the near future? Edit: Darn, looks like I can't join yet - I'm only 15 and a half. Question - is the age rule strictly enforced, or is it fairly lax as long as underage members are mature, like on here?
-
IMO, this decision was crap. I would have loved if they had gone the other route and made Pluto and several other planetoid objects official planets. Would have been better than rewriting the whole textbook on the solar system.

Oh no, not just Bionicle. I was also upset that Fabuland was banned, because it's really a cool theme. Honestly, though, I'm really not getting this whole forum split at all. Granted, I don't know all the inner details about this separation, but it almost seems like the admins who left are making to big a deal about it. I mean, you're posting a link to the new site here, members from eurobricks are joining your new forum, and everyone in general seems to be on friendly relations. So why can't everyone just make up? I really feel like the heart and soul has been ripped out of Eurobricks, because members like you, Double T, xwingyoda, and Vader were some of the liveliest people on this forum. It's really sad that it doesn't look like any of them will ever return to Eurobricks. Again, I don't really know how big a deal this split really was, but some part of me is saying that it's too much ruckus over a problem that isn't so big. I guess you've all made up your minds, but to me it doesn't seem like it's really worth talking on two separate forums just so we can discuss lego with only four former Eurobricks members. I just think there could have been a better solution than this.

The Bohrok Kal were easily one of the biggest disgraces we've ever had in Bionicle. Not only were there basically no new molds in them whatsoever, they were clones of clones, which is just awful. Fortunately, after the Kal bombed (even with BZP members!), TLC never did that again. And now look where we are, years later - and the clone canister sets are finally history. Also, I think that if you want a display model, the normal jetrax would be good, because it has the cooler color scheme. If you want a better parts pack, however, yellow Jetrax is sweeto.

I honestly don't see why certain themes are not allowed to be discussed on a forum about lego. It really seems like you're excluding certain lego fans (And I mean mature ones) - though for what reason I can't tell.
