Hey ! I know that I’m a bite late on this review… But I would like to share my impression about this set. I’m glad to see TLC releasing such a set! In fact, this is the first time for a longtime now that we don’t have a set without vehicles, flirck missiles or other adventure features. We’ve got a classic house. This house is built on the same way that the pizzeria in the city corner or the shop in the construction site are. So, this is a good point if you want to expend your city with actual sets. This is really a modern version of houses that we’ve got during the good old time! We’ve got some nice furniture (I really like the long chair) but also some other not that good, like this poor designed BBQ! TLC has already made some better version, really! So, I’m very happy to see this kind of sets in the city line! I hope that it will sell well and we will see other sets like that in the future. But on the other hand, I have to admit that personally, I don’t find this house really exiting. I mean, the target of this set is the kiddies. So, when you have tasted sets like café corner, green grocery or grand emporium, this one looks very empty and basic, without anything special. I mean, I don’t want a house with a lot of architectural details, but it seems that TLC makes some more detailed and sophisticated vehicles in term of design (just look at those new tractors, the last construction vehicles, the taw truck from 7642…). I think that “limitation” has an economical origin (reducing the number of pieces but having an impressive house for kids). But I know that I will buy one of it just for few parts (sausage, long chair and green garbage), the rest will be a parts pack. So, I really see this set as it is: a good LEGO house for children, nothing more, but nothing less too.

My vote : 1 point for 50) Crash Dummy Entry (Build by Oky Wan Kenobi). I really like how the plane is build, with this breaking feeling. 1 point for 20) Skater Boy Entry (Build by Noodles140). A really simple vig yes, but the essential is in the situation! And it makes me laught, so it has succeeded. 1 point for 17) Clown Entry (Build by Redcross). I really like all the nice details. we can feel the "allo,ne feeling" that the clown lives when he isn't on stage.

So finally, I have made a dome that is right for me. The only minor problem is that I need some bricks to finish it, the grey curved onces. But I'm happy, because all those missing briks can be find in one set, the game Race 3000! I just need to bougth it. And I would like to replace the dark tan rounded plate with a tan one. Just need to buy the new SW landspeeder... And here a pic showing how the dome is built : After that, I just need to find a neighbor to this moded Grand Emporium. But with only 8 studs wide, it's not that simple...

Wow! Nice advent calendar! I need it just for the sausage and the baguette! And of course pour the minifgs too. Like it was said before, it's great to have a city calendar without policemen or firefighters, enought of them! Back on 8404, it's a great set! The bus looks really great with lime. I can imagine a lot of old people travelling around areas, enjoying their retirements! The streetseaper looks really amazing for what I can see! Just for it, I will buy the set! The infrastructures look modern, even if they are a little too small for me, but nothing that can't be modded, so! And the blue tram. Great! The fact that there are no tracks don't disturb me. Maybe because where I live, we've got a tram that has tires and don't need any tracks to run. It just has a middle track sometime and sometime nothing at all, just a standard road... I know it's strange...

Fixed! Thanks for the comments. I have in a good way for my dome. I just need some parts, looking for them in a set that can buy... I will try to take some pics the next week...

Hey ! I decided to open a new topic to present my latest City project for my layout to keep my “city story” topic cleaner. After a long time, I have finally taken some pics of my latest creation. Those last months, I didn’t have that much time to moc. And didn’t have some inspiration too… But the event has come and I’ve got the Grand Emporium… So now, the motivation is back so I find some time for my beloved LEGO bricks! So let’s go with 3 models. I have to admit that they don’t come from me. They are some modified versions of official sets. - First, the smart car 3177: I really find this set cute! For me, it is one of the best city set from the first wave of 2010! So I tried to add more details without making it looking too different. I just add some rear-view mirrors. I added some red lights to the back and a glass to make it closed. - Second, the Rockband bus: I find this bus really funny, so I tried to build it with the official instruction. But the rear with the crazy motor didn’t make me really happy, because I would have prefer a more realistic version than a Mario kartish version. So I tried some different things and come with that. But I’m not totally satisfied… My major problem with this bus is that I miss some white slopes to finish it. I only have one in black ( I have put my hope too high in the PaB from Legoland Billund at the 2010 event, and nothing… ). - And third for today, my first try to make smaller the new Grand Emporium: I have kept the general architecture of this building. The major modification is the cornered section processing. I would like it to look like one tower without interruptions from the different levels, except the balcony. And to accomplish this tower effect, I need to make a special roof section. I would like to add a dome on the top. I have tried some things this WE, but without any success… I need to try a full brick build one, like in the Taj Mahal set but it seems not that easy to come with something great… I need to try…

Of course the two heads that you shown are in the firestation 7908, but they are not the only ones, because there are 4 minifigs... You can cleraly them on the s@h website in the zoom section of the set, and you will see that I'm right and TLC didn't packed me a wrong head. BL is a tool, not always the exact true
-
Maybe you can find it in the fire copter and the 4x4 too (I don't know because I don't have bought those sets). But IT IS in the new firestation, because I've got it in this set...
-
Well, I'ma bit late, I know, but with all those new city sets and pics, it seems that TLC uses that head too much for me... I've got it in the latest firestation and it's in the new LEGO truck and in the new cargo train. Am I the only one who find this head horrible? It's the worst city head ever made (with Harry Potter's uncle, also uses in the city line)! When you look at it quickly, you don't see the glasses, but more two big eyes! And the mouth is not great too! I like new heads for diversity, for sure, but not with such heads! Back on topic... I dont' find the passenger train very nice, because of the difference between the curved pieces from the roof and the edges made buy the build brick front... Not that great IMO! But the cargo train is really really great! I like it and will buy it for sure! The color scheme is very cool and different to the last two green trains. And we have some nice wagons, two small cars and one crane. We never have enought of those great adds!

So finally my pics. I don't post them all so here the link of my Flirck event album. Some pics : A little baby gorillaz : A big brick build version of the red car from set 6561: The LEGO concept is as old as humanity... The Danish just made the bricks smaller and in ABS: Jipay, the unluky man, who had one of the "non best" minifig, the black ninja. And Worst, he got it twice! It's great to see all those pics! The event was during the past week end but already so far...
-
The only bad thing about the event is that it's too short in time! Like the other Eventees, I would to thank you the Event Admin team for those funny and great moments. It's always great to see some members in real, and with new people compared to last year event. I know that I didn't speak a lot, (in part due to my bad spoken english), but that didn't stop me from having a good time! And thanks you Front for your pics, they really look professionals (you've got some nice pics from insects and animals in your Flirck too, but a little off topic...) I can't say more about that! Damned us! It was for us too! More than 12h in the car! How long it was! But the two stops made this road more funny, like if the event didn't want to finish. I will post my pics before the end of the week.
-
So no badge for me. But for sure I want the extras!
-
I know that I don't have been really active for a long time. But I have a very busy life : too many work, and not so many free time during the week end... And no sun with cloudy and cold weather for about 3 months that don't stimulate my imagination and don't give me the possibilities to take few pics of my LEGO works...) I know that it will be as good as the last year event, even better due to the dicovery to an all new legoland for me! Can't wait!
-
What?! Then you realise that it's really nice to go to a foreign country which has the same money. It makes your life easier, no question about money! Denmark and England, when will you be members of the Eurozone?
-
Life is hard sometime...
-
Hey, I'm not that big! Be carefull, now with the Atlantis line, the mantarays can be more dangerous than never... So I will come with pleasure at the event, in the French room, the 23th night and 24th night.

Thanks a lot! I'm very happy, because my parents offered me a LEGO set today! It was a very long time that they didn't have do ne that! I've received the HUGE big 3177 small car! Seriously, it's a really small set, but it's one of the better city sets form this first half city wave (with the piglets). I have already modified it a little to make it better. Just need to take some pics... And Holodoc, I will be at the event! Yay!

I know, I know... But this post wasn't an "official" presentation of my finished layout. It was more a WIP post. Thanks! It took me some tries and tries to come with a small and not so undetailed one! Thanks too!I have also spend some times on this interior. The scale I use doesn't give me so much space for making interiors. I can only put few things, so I have to think about the essential elements that have to be here. And the choice of the colors is really important for such a place. I went to some irish pub in town to see how they look like in real and try o capture the feeling.

Layout Hey ! After a long time since the last pics, I can share some few and new ones. Now that I have finished my town houses (except from my town hall, I’m not happy with it…), I have worked on the street. I have started to tile the street, but just started. I don’t have enough 2x2 and 2x1 dark grey tiles for all of my downtown layout area… Damned! My only hope is to find them one day in the PaB from Legoland deutchland. I’ve checked the price from the online PaB, But it’s really too expensive! So after some pavements, I needed to use the external corner section of curved road plates to add some green. I wanted some nice trees here, not those round one (that you can find in the red sport car set 8402). I have already seen some very beautiful brickbuilt trees (SirNadroj makes them very well!) But I don’t have all the pieces for that. So, I made some attempts and realized that the plant leaves are in different geometric plans give some volumes and a more real look than just put them on top of each other, in parallel. How to do this with my parts? And finally I came with that: Well, they are not the best brickbuild trees, but not that bad considering the small amount of pieces that is used. I also made some urban arrangement, especially with the chains. I wanted 3 black chains but only have 3 dark grey: an old dark grey, the same in new dark grey, and the last version, one link shorter! Damned! So the 3 corners are different, and I don’t like that! I know that it is a minor detail, but it has a big importance for me! Here some general top view of my downtown: I have also worked on my interior houses. You can see my post office here: My Irish pub here: And here the inside of my smaller CC: On this last pic, you will not see anything… In fact, it’s really hard to see the interior of this cornered building in real, so taking it in picture is impossible… So, I don’t know if I will continue to make some detailed interiors. I think that I will just put one or two things to be visible form the windows, from the street, and that’s all. So it’s a stand-by for furniture. And I’m thinking to build a farm for my suburb area, a typical farm from where I live, a “ferme Lorraine”, where I will be able to put my cows and my future pigs! Yay!

Well, here my first though about the new city line, seeing those first pics. Firestation : another one yes, but it’s not really a surprise. TLC has always made some fire(police)stations, after fire(police)station, so no matter for me. I find it great. I need to see more of it to know if I prefer the ’10 or ’07. The vehicles look great too. Even if I don’t need a new firestation, if I buy it, it will be only for them (I’m not a great vehicles MOCer…) Fire boat : far better than the previous one. But the price will not be the same. But nothing really special for me… I’ve got enough boat hulls to MOC with… Fire copter : well, what can I say? If you look at it quckly, you will see a true Playmobil set, and not LEGO set. I really dislike the mega piece used for the front, which looks really crappy for me. Big pieces can be usefull, but this one, I don’t see… and this, more after having the coastguard helicopter, with its very nice brickbuild face. And the 4WD doesn’t look very great after such a nice black Rang last year. Airport : I will not make any comment on this big playmoplane… Like you said, TLC can make some great plane with more small pieces, like in the Indy set (I really love this plane!). The reason of such a “<insert that tiresome argument>” plane is to make the price ratio lower I think. I can’t see any other reason. The airport looks really modern, with those glass panels, but it has nothing really special. I really dislike the difference of proportion with the building, the tower and the playmoplane. It makes the building more ridiculous. Looking at the recent building sets, they really don’t look really great IMO (policestation, farm, city corner, but expect for the firestation and train station). This bad feeling is reinforced by how TLC puts some very nice details in their vehicles and not in their building. The new octan gaz truck looks great, like the more classic hydrolegoplane. And I really like the new farm set. Not for the pigpen but for the tractor and pigs! Now I just have to wait for better pics of all the new sets to make my 2010 lego buying schedule (I don’t have finished with the ’09 sets, damned windmill transport…).

I can't be more with you on this Phoinix!

Thanks! Thanks! I had some very high difficulties to make a decent inner corner house. It takes me more than 2 years and so many tries... I must be carefull with what I say! I will add some green space, like trees and flowers in the street, and I need to make a small parc near the town hall. I have plenty of work yet!

I have bought the fire brigade recently. Even if the building looks very good and impressive, I have to admit that I find it really far from the level of CC and GG. I don’t know really why… Maybe it’s due to its architecture, which is more “square’ish” than the two first one. The facades don’t look as details IMO, just like the first floor. Maybe it’s due to its architecture inspiration… But there is a point that I’m very pleased with. It seems that TLC has solved its colours issues. All the light grey pieces looks the same, and better, the dark red too! The variation of colours in dark colours is easier to distinguish and with this set, nothing to deplore!

Layout So after a long time without being active on EB, I finally take the time to show you some pics of my always under construction of my layout. As you can see since the last time, there are no big changes for the major parts of my houses : - I have put my smaller market street next to my smaller CC. - I wasn’t pleased with the small area next to my smaller GG. It makes a “hole” between houses. So I decided to make a thin house. For it, I used the architecture of a building near my home (sometime, we don’t need to go too far away to find some inspiration!). - I have put antennas, chimneys and other things. And just those few little things add a lot and bring a touch of realism. Before, my roofs were too “perfect”, which look unrealistic. - And finally, I have made it! I have built my corner building in a way I like! It takes its style from another local existing house. So finally some pics : Here a general view with my houses side by side. It’s not my layout disposition, but it permit to show all of my modules in one shot. Here the thin and modern house. Here the corner house Finally, a pic showing some roof details. You can also see two crows. Now, I’m working on the inside of my buildings. I will need a lot of time to put some furniture and tile the floors and streets. When they will be finished, I will present you each modules with some pics to show their evolutions and inspirations.
