I don't know that I have my own building style. It's always easy to the building style from the other than ours. I'm glad that you like it. As I take some inspirations from others and you, don't hesitate to do the same. It's always constructive to see what the other come with. I will post some pictures with more general view of my street soon, with a teaser of my next modular building (not totally achieved, I need some dark grey plates...) You're totally right, I'm from Nancy. And in fact, we have so many art nouveau building here, that I can't lack of inspiration. But art nouveau style is really hard to make with LEGO bricks, because it is based on vegetal and plant movements, with curves, and our bricks are right. I really like this architecture period, I like walking down the street, looking at those nice details here and there on more classical building. But also this movement gave us some very strange and singular houses. I’m glad that a stranger (or maybe you’re French too) knows my little city!

REVIEW: 8831 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 7
alex54 replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for this great review, as always, Whitefang! Nice pictures, nice despricptions, I cant' wait to put my hand on this wonderful 7th serie. I agree that all the minifigs look appealing, unique and desirable. Even the tennisman is great, eve if he is the less exottic one for me (I love the hairepiece, I will be able to make me in minifig version!) This serie looks really detailed, in term of accessories and printing, and it is more acurate when you compare with the first serie. The rockstar girl really remind me of this anime, Jem: Very good Job TLC for this serie and Whitfang for this review! -
Like with my other moc, I always let some times after achieving a moc before to come back on it. This time permits me to stand back. So, when I bring out my “art nouveau” house, I decided to put some changes on it, particularly to give the front more relief. I have changed the type of windows, using the same 2x3 and 2x2 white new windows. It homogenizes the whole aspect and looks more accurate for me. I modified the details on top of each windows and use the new mudguard (thanks LEGO for this new piece, it’s exactly what I wanted for this moc!). I have change the color of the roof arch from white to dark red (once again, thanks LEGO to have put some dark red droid arms in the new Dino line!), add some details above the windows in the roof, add a new chimney. So I’s time now for some pictures : Nothing really new from the back : And nothing new for the white modern extension : Even if it’s not visible, I have made some modifications to the roof. The first version wasn’t sturdy enough and the panels fell down too easily for me, making me crazy to attach them each time I touch this moc! So after some tries, I succeed to keep the same look, but in a sturdy way! Yay!

Thanks for the comments! Sorry for the toilet, but as I am not a pub frequenter, I didn't know that toilets are so important in this kind of place... A 16 stud wide house doesn't bring a lot of space. So maybe I could put a toilet, but adding too many things in such a small area can't make them really visible. I've got some space outside, I can make a toilet in a garden!

After seeing the front of Vincent Kessels’ Dutch irish pub, and after asking him if I can copy it, I rebuild the front of my pub and come with that : I’ve also modified the back, but making great back is not my priority, it’s just a way to use not so useful pieces that I have a lot : And one of the other new elements is that I have put some details inside the pub. Here a shot of what a minifig will see entering the pub : And here some general views : I tried to make a cozy place where friends can meet around some good beers, watching whatever sports you want on TV. It’s hard to take some nice pictures from such a small interior. So I don’t put too many details because they will not be that much visible.

I'm a bit late, but I just want to let you know that I will not be here for the 2012 Event... But if next year it will be in Germany, for sure I will come! Have a very nice time, all the eventies!

Very nice farm scene! The global look is serious and realistic and you have put some nice touch of fun that make us having a more closer view on it to discover them all!
-
Great baroque building! The fact that you put some bricks upside down in the font add some nice details and an unusual way of seeing those bricks. Very ingenious! The colours work well together. And a dark tan roof is not that common too, but it's nice! Maybe just one crossbow in the triangle section is a little too light in term of details, compared to the rest of the building. But it works neveretheless.

Great job here! Your building is very pleasant to looke at. There are some nice details, like the different kind of walls (I especially like the walls made of 1x2 plates, this kind of walls looks pretty good!). The street is also well detailed, with trees, street lamps (the only parts that I'm not attracted...), timestamps... And of course, you have put a lot of work inside too! there are some nice details and furniture to discover, making the final resut a very nice moc! Congratulation!

Thanks fr the nice comment!

Thanks for the comment! The yellow cups come from the Scala line. They look more realistic than the classic one, but the minifigs don't hold them very well, due to the rounded design of the handle.

B-OM-14B Looking at this picture, the first LEGO modular building Café Corner is always very pleasant to look after. It’s only default was o come without any interior details… But who cares? Just take some bricks and use your imagination to make your own furniture. So, after a very long time I would like to do so, I decided to make my interior. For now, I just add some details inside in the street floor. In fact, the upper floors are not that visible from the outside, so they are not my priority. I have to put some furniture in some other of my moc modulars. So I would like to optimize my bricks and my time. But what to do inside? What can the Café Corner can offer in its street floor? After a very long time of reflection, I came with that brilliant idea : why can’t I make it a café? After this brilliant illumination, I decided to make it in the style of one of the most known and popular unreal café/bistro in France : the “bar du Mistral”. It comes from a popular French TV sitcom, “plus belle la vie”, which is based on an all created area from Marseille. The first view, what a minifig will see before entering : Here a global view of the interior : There are nothing really special inside : it’s quite simple, without a lot of things everywhere. A closer view of the counter : What do you want : coffee, orange juice? There are some grass to separate some tables and make more intima spaces : And the red telephone : I just need a nex 1x1 round tile In grey to make the keypad. Enjoy! Edit : Just go here for discover how the expresso machine is built!

great work here! The design of the houses are quite simple, but there are some nice details here and there which make the whole MOC not as simple than it can be seen at firts and quick time. I like this quind of construction! The colors work very well together. I like the fact that the two houses are not in the same wide, that gives a nice realstic feeling. And it seems that you have put the same worke from outside to inside, with nice furniture and details here too! They seem to be two very confortable places to live in!

I just want to say that I really like your MOC. Maybe there nothing really spectacular nor extravagent, but this is why your moc is so great. The design is very smart, pure smooth and elegant. I really like this clean aspect, which brings out the nice details (the flowers, the bricks on walls...). And the colors are well chosen, with a nice unity. Dark red goes very well with the Octan color scheme. And last but not least, the small details which gives the ultimate touch and making your moc not "austere", is that the pumps are put at an angle : the better way to make the clean aspect clean without being too straight and giving a nice touch of stle and design, like a stande alone creation. Very well done

What a great corner modular MOC you have done Brickcitydepot! I really like the fact that each floors have a different style, but with some common clours that make them go very well together. You really capture some nice details from the original construction. The details inside are also very good too (with the tilt yellow bed! Are the string used to make the angle section from the ground floor more strudy? It's an uncommon idea, but very ingenious! I like also the black plots on the sidewalk, they give an old downtown feeling. The only minor things I will have made different (I like to give my opinion in that way, and I like to have some same from my moc) is the grey roof. Like with the real building, I will have made it more pointed and slim. Great piece of work here!
-
I voted for it on CUSSOO. What a really nice MOC! Everything looks terrible in this creation : how the fronts are made, the colors, the size, the interiors with all those nice details! Great work MB!

I agree, those flowers add a nice touch of life to your house. It's just few additions, but the general look is more better. And the red colors for those flowers is the right choice IMO. After looking carefully at your beautiful house, I have another small things that I will change... On the first floor, there is a tan strip between the top of the windows and the white decoration while those decoration are just on top of the windows, without that strip of tan on the ground floor. I know, I'm a little perfectionist, so take it as a constructive comment and not like a criticism. I really love your house and I will perfectly see it in my layout! I'm actually working on a corner house, on which I have already made the ground floor. I would like to take some ideas from your house, if I have your permission : how you made the chimney, the decoration above the roof and the rounded bow window. For this last part, if I don't happen to fix it properly like you, could you post some pics on how you made it?

It seems that we have some nice layout presentation for this beginning of the year, which is really good! Your piece of downtown is lovely done. The overall look catch the eyes, with nice details put eveywhere (a Super Mario mushroom tag!). You have put enought street accessories as benches, streetlights, trafficlights, and of course nice trees, which I think are really important in streets. I will not complain about the lake of minifigures and cars, I know that it takes some time to put them in a funny and pleasant way. Maybe you will post some pics later with such add-on, I hope! My only minor complain is the black used for the sidewalk. But maybe it's because I don't like black that much. The LEGO black is really black and appears as a very harsh color, making the details using black pieces not that visible and a too strong contrast, which catches the eyes a little too much for my taste.

Nothing more to say than Wow! the way you have made the street is fantastic! The hillside aspect is very well done and not blocky using blocky LEGO bicks. It add a very nice touch of realism, without this flat syndrom of the majority of layout (as mine). Your builings are always great and they are well underlined with all this life in the street. And finally, you have made a decent wall to hide the structure. And that gives the final touch, making your street really clean and finished! So, I confirm, nothing more to say than Wow!

What can I say more than the other done? I'm not a Space fan, but I have to admit that TLC has made a very great job with this Alien conquest line. I really like the design of the Alien. They are the only Alien that I like among the try of TLC. I really like the spirit of this line, with crazy aliens who come on Earth to conquest uor planet. It's really cartoony buy the design, the colours used and the overall design. Back in your great moc, which has all those aspect that I like in this line. The Mother version of those tiny and non so friendly little alien looks very very great. The rounded look is very well done. And particularely in this color, in which the choice of pieces is a little limited. The scene is very pleasant to look at and the faces used for the minifigs really capture this moment when you can't do anything before the invader! Just imagine, you're walking down the street, wanting to be quiet at home after a hard day at work. And this big alien comes from the sky, cracking down the road (nice effect!). Grr, I would'nt be one of those poor figs. But it seems that girls had less luck in your vig! Just a question, doesn the mother put of her children before eating us?

Demag H135
alex54 replied to Emilus's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm not a Technic expert neither a Mindstorm one, but it seems that you have passed some times to make this outstanding MOC! The design of the vehicle is very well done and clever. It's great to see a Technic moc with a more standard System look, it works very well. And last but not least, the NXT controler! Wow! I have recently tried a Mindstorm set, and I have to admit that it's not that easy to master. I am not familiar with informatic codes, so I used the LEGO Mindstrom software. And it's not that easy! I've spend about 10h to make a 9V train layout controled with one NXT. So making such a command for your Demag just blows me! It really gives us to "play" with your creation! -
Great house! I really like how you made the corner section, with the round bow window on the street flour, and the balcony on the first floor. The decoration below the roof used simple pieces but it's just so wonderfull! And of course, we can't pass on the furniture. The interior of your house is absolutely beautifull and very well executed. If I were a minifig, it doesn't bother me to live here, on the contrary! The only thing that I would have added is some plants or flowers somewhere, on the windows.
-
What a great layout! There are so many things to look at! All those street scenes make your layout alive. All your vehicules look so nice, they are very well done and look like the real one, and in such a small scale, great job! I like the statue of the chief in the garden of your town hall ! Your Esso station is excellent! Nothing more to say about it. The color scheme is really Esso and the design vey nice and sleek. It's one of the best LEGO gaz station than I have ever seen!

REVIEW: 8827 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6
alex54 replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Glad to see the Minifigs series 6 reviewed by you Whitefang! As always, it's a pleasure to read you and to see those pics that you share with us. Your review makes me impatient to have my own 6th serie of those lovely minifigs (already bought!). I will wait to have them in my hands to make a jugement aout which is my favourite, but I really like the genius, the paramedic and the roman soldier. And of course the tired man with its bear. And just for the hisorical apect, the major part of the steel used to build the statue of liberty, and Eiffel tower, comes from the area where I live. One of my aunte even has an entrance of one of those old mine.
