  1. Great modular building! Your MOC has a really tiny look, I really like it! The color scheme is very nice : the dark green with the yellow strips work very well. The white sections from the roof add a nice contraste with the brown of the wall and the black of the roof. The porch section is very well too. I would like to be a minifig and go under it when it rains and to discover all the sides of this cossy house! The road section to go to this porch is well done, with the different of level with the regular sidewalk. And you have some great details inside! And that adds a lot! Great work! You have a nice layout with all your other modulars!
  2. Thanks for the comments ! All those dark orange pieces come from the 4728 Escape from Privet Drive Harry Potter set and from Pick a Brick in Legoland Germany. I was really pleased to find those bricks in this colors. My only regret, I don't pick them enought... Blue tiles ? Do you mean blue windows ? They come from 4840 The burrow. I'm always open to read some suggestions about creations, it could only make them better. L@go, you're right with the 1x4 tan tile underneath the windows. The shutter tabs are not really a problem, I can put them inside. The matter is that I don't have enough tan tiles now, so I prefer to keep them for a better usage than making some good back buildings, which are not so many visible. For the brown studs, I will try to put some tiles, I think you're right too for this point. And finally the roof... The section that I'm not happy with... Seeing the pictures that I have taken, I know that I need to work on it, it needs some improvements. I just have to wok on those points now!
  3. Edit : The unpdate version can be seen here. B-OM-15A Hey ! I'm glad to present you my fourth modular building. For this module, I go with a 16x32 based sized module, to complete my first modular building, in the same way than the 10218 Pet shop LEGO set. This is my first modular building that is not based directly on a real house. But it is based on classic 1900 architecture. As for my other modules, I updated one of my own MOC. In 2007, my dark orange house looked like that : In 2009, it looked like that : Finally, the street floor from 2009 was good enough for me to keep it, without any modification. I just work on upper floors to make them more details and sturdy. And I finally come with that : The side : The back, not very detailed, as always (I need to save some pieces!) : In those pictures, we can see all the floor sections : The ground floor shows that there is no furniture yet : The first floor : The second floor : The roof : Another general view : With a piece of street : With all my modular buildings : And finally all my own Modular MOCs :
  4. Great work here! It's nice to see a moc and its real inspiration! The colour scheme is unusual, but it works very well. Looking at the picture of the real building you have captured the spirit and the general look more than very well. Once again, great work! I'm impatient to see your future lego town now!
  5. This is the only picture that I've got before I destroyed this old version :
  6. Thanks for the feedbacks! And thanks Sonicstarlight to have blogged it in BTT, what an honor! Sorry Pagan, but I don't understand what you're asking here... I know that I have a lot of work in furnituring my modular MOCs... It will take me some times, but I want to do so!
  7. How can I missed this awsone street scene? I particularly like the house with the tower, very nice use of roof bricks, that works very well, with its great roof! I like original roof elements... You add some nice features in the street that makes us want to be a minifig, like the nice coffee, the orgue of barbaria (nicely done!) and your awsone cars! The more I see this 2cv, the more I need to build one to put in my street, if I can copy your creation?... And I confirm, we have some british booths here here France. There was one in my town few years ago, but now they put it off, like a lot of other more french booths (which don't have any particular design...). It was fun to see such a booth in a french city. A lot of people, as I did, takes a picture above it to make their friends or family believe that they went to London!
  8. Thanks for all the great comments! I have a look at your gallery. And in fact, it's not impossible to put some stairs in such a small house. I will take some inspiration from your very well detailed interiors!
  9. Edit : The unpdate version can be seen here. B-RM-3C Hey ! I’m happy to present you my third modular building. As always, let’s go for the retrospective of this MOC. For this module, I decided to take the same way than my second one, that means a 32x32 based sized module, with two buildings with different widths. My first idea was to integrate an old house that I really like. It is based on this : I like the modern architecture of this small extension, with the used of steel and glasses. I like to have a look at this house, which is based less than 10 meters to my home. In the picture below, you can see how I try to make it with LEGO bricks : I was pleased enough with it, I just have to make it modular. After having the first part of the module, I choose to build another local house. And to have a contrast with the modern architecture, I decided to take a “art nouveau” house, a kind of architecture which was well implanted in my town, after the first WW. I already try to capture it in an old MOC. It was an iner corner building : As you can see, I just built the “tower” of this house. But now, with a 32x32 baseplate, and without angle, I was able to build it in a more realistic way. And I came with that : The two sides : The back : Like for my other modular buildings, I used a lot of 4x6 windows. It’s not really beautiful but it permits me to used them and to save some parts, which I can used in better ways for other MOC. Maybe, if I still have enough bricks… In those pictures, we can see all the floor sections : The ground floor shows that there is no furniture yet, and no stairs in the white building (too small for one). The second floor : The third floor : And the roofs : [img http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/alex54/My-Modular-Buildings/Modular-03/modular_03_11.jpg[/img] A shoot of this atypical roof : And a view through the eyes of a minifig : For this moc, I used almost all my dark tan pieces! The integration of the windows in the roof and the interaction between the different roofs give me a lot of work. I tried and tried a lot of solutions. And that reminds me why I love LEGO : you have so many possibilities to build what you want, and there is always a way to do so. But the only thing that I couldn’t make like I wanted was the dark red woodwork on top of the tower. So, it comes in white… With a piece of street, it makes this moc more alive : And last, the family picture of all of my modular buildings : I can’t wait to make a proper layout with roads in front of each houses, and some nice and funny street scene. I just need more roadplates and hundreds and hundreds of 1x2 and 2x2 grey tiles for my pavement… But one day…
  10. Yes it is! No, those windows come from the old worldcity train station. I have put the stickers on during those old days, and I don't put them of here... Thanks to remind me that I need to do so!
  11. Thanks for your nice comment! I have already thought to make the grey building a corner one before, but I don't know if the result will be that great. I mean, I prefer to make it a front house than a corner house like Café Corner for exemple. this 90° angle will not suit it that much, not more than a front building as I have made. Making a corner version like the real one would be great, but with this angle, it can't be integrated in a layout with other modular buildings. I have made some minor modifications on this moc, but for me they are welcomed. I have changed the grey windows with some tan windows to have the same colours in the tan section. I have also put some rounded pieces on top of the grey windows, instead of the 1x4 tan tiles. This "iner" section looks more sleak, but also more sculpted. And we have a kind of echo to the studs from the balconies. That's all!
  12. What a pleasure to see the pictures of this MOC! You've done a very great job! Like the other, I really like the classic feeling of this train station, but updated with more actual bricks and colors (2x3 windows, dark blue roof, tan and dark tan elements, selection of classic mixed with modern minifigs parts...). The design is quite simple but really effective with some nice details here and there, like the grey downspouts for raining water, the flower pots, the great street lamps... No back, nice furniture, great playability. The addition of the light bricks add a nice touch, giving a more alive feeling in the dark. And last but not least, the modular aspect : The concept of having 3 modules that you can put like you want and change the look of the station is a really great idea and very well executed here. Seeing your work on this aspect, I don't see why TLC doesn't apply more often this concept of modularity in their production (which can be apply in City and Castle line, adding a more “collect all the sets of the line”). Now, the only thing we have to do is to wait our trains in this lovely Station!
  13. Great house for a first try in modular builiding scale! I like to see some brick built versions of real houses. It's always funny to see how people capture the style, choose the details to put in. You have made a great work here. But I have just a small comment about the colours used, compared to the picture : why do you used some light grey bricks and no tan bricks? Maybe the use of the tan colours will make the caramel bricks more "expansive". Just my thought. By the way, you've made a great job.
  14. Great! You have made some very nice cars! The 2CV looks really great. The Ford Capri looks also very nice, with its sleek design! You capture very well the feeling of those vehicules! I probably take some inspiration of your models to build one or two cars to put on the street of my layout!
  15. You have made a very nice work! The presentation is really excellent with this ikea catalogue style! But it's not just the presentation. The furnitures look great too. It's a good source of inspiration for me, who have some work to make some interiors to my mocs... Good work, truly!
  16. I permit you and others to do so, no problem on that! Have you seen the “new” Place de Jaude after all the works that have been done to receive the tram “Fleur de lave”? I like the variety in towns, like in Clermont or in Nancy (where I lived). It reflects the history of the city and its evolution over time (Middle adge houses, Renaissance, post-war style, art nouveau, pop art, modern architecture...). I like this heterogeneity, making the streets less boring, with some nice details to discover for those who take the time to observe their environ. Building in a modern style is not that easy with LEGO. It's a little paradoxical because we can think that with smooth and square bricks, it's easy to make modern buidling, which are smooth and squarish. But in fact, it's not the fact. The LEGO bricks gives a kind of heaviness to the architecture. For the different architecture, I like to have a great stand alone building but I imagine it in its street, with its neighbors. I go down the real street to see how it's done in our world and try to apply it in the LEGO world. I try to understand what make people not being chocked or surprised when they walk down the street with all its heterogeneity. It's not that easy to explain in english, sorry. And I stop here, I will be boring! I hope that you will let you see your building with this similar idea! Thanks for your suggestion, I will take it into account, but if you have some pictures or other illustrations, don't hesitate to send them. So, thanks for all the great comments, they make me glad! And thanks for blogged my moc in Classic Town, Brick-town-talk and frontpaged it in EB!
  17. Edit : The update version can be seen here. B-RM-3E Hey ! It’s time for me to present you my second modular building. I just let you know that it’s not totally finished, but it has its definitive look. So let’s go for the retrospective of the building! This time, and after a 16x32 based sized yellow house, I decided to build a 32x32 based sized modular module. But I didn’t want to build a 32-wide building like GG. My way was to build 2 houses on a same 32x32 base-plate, to stay in the standard of modular buildings. For this module, I decided, like I’ve done with my yellow house, to upscale two of my older houses. My first choice was my brown building. It was based on the 70’s style, which is visible near my home. Those houses were built during the expansion of the downtown, at the borders of suburbs. After a small walk, equipped with my camera, I take this for a new inspiration, keeping the color scheme : This is not the most beautiful architecture, but it has some characteristic gimmicks in terms of style, making this period recognizable between the others. My second choice was inspired by this house, from Clermont-Ferrand (where I studied. It’s also the land of the tires Michelin) : In my older layout, my LEGO version looks like that(and permit me to discover the metroliner set!... ): Everybody (I hope) will find it : it’s the second left building. So, without delay, the result of this always interesting and amusing works is… (sorry for the quality of the pictures, I just have my old camera with me…) : The back now : I don’t have put a lot of details in them not to use a lot of interesting pieces. I still put a sliding door to the grey house and made a small storeroom under the stairs (which could be very useful to store a lawnmower or whatever you want. Here views showing all the floors parts : As you can see, I don’t have enough brown bricks to make all the wall of my brown house brown. In the ground floor, we have in the brown building a shop section and a stair to go to the apartments upstairs. The two apartments have their own mailboxes (in red, not really visible in the picture above). I don’t put any stairs in the grey house because it will take a lot of space in this small interior. As you can also see, I don’t have made any furniture yet… The second floor: The third floor : the fourth floor of the grey building and the roof of the brown building : The two roofs : On the third floor of the brown building, there is a ladder attached to the wall. Why? Because it’s very useful when you want to go to the terrace for the maintenance : Now, my module inserted in a piece of street, with lamp, tree and minifigs : Next to my yellow modular house : And finally a shot with all my official and my own modular buildings : The hardest thing to do was to hide the junctions of the different levels on the front of the buildings. I didn’t want to have some horizontal lines, I just wanted a smooth effect, from the first floor to the last.
  18. Nothing really news, I just put some very small modification to my Yellow house. Old : New : I just put more grey bricks on each sides to make them more beautifull and more finished. I know that the sides will not be visible when other modular buildings will be put aside, but I like to have a building which looks great alone...
  19. I think that your're right here. When you ask people to describe what minifigs they would like to see, they come with stereotype kind of figs. As examples, just take a look here : In this post, Tanotrooper has drawn a musketeer minifig. And we have one in series 4, which is closer to this draw. In this post, I have drawn a scientist, which appears in series 4, and looks like the draw too : same hair, with glasses, the flask, the white blouse. I don't think that TLC takes our draws and makes them come true. We have the same vision of what a musketeer or a mad scientist looks like. But it's really funny to see that those stereotypes of typical minifigures are universal.
  20. What to say appart wahou! Your pizza corner is very nice! I like the use of different coloured slopes for the roof, the way you used 2x1 bricks for chimney, the contrast between the ground floor and the others, the trees with their protections. And if it was not sufficient, you have put two great cars (is the white one a Citroën DS?) and an awsome tram! It's a really beautiful alive street scene in which I would be happy to walk down!
  21. Great work Cimddwc! I really like your MOCS! There are beautifull details (I like the way you put some studs on fronts of your building). And whenyou put all them together, we have someting very beautifull! It makes me want to be a minifig to walk around, to discover the street, to go to the other side trough a small road... The fact that you have made your street sloped bring a great feeling to this layout! And even if the interiors are small, you have put a lot of detaails and furnitures in them, great! Your street is full of life! The only minor thing is that we see the strucure of the street in the pics... Maybe use a piece of grey paper to hide this, just to have a "cleaner" view of this piece of beauty!
  22. Thanks for your comments ! One aspect that I have missed to write about this house is the different shade of yellow. I used some old and new pieces and it appears that there is a lot of shade (more or less green, orange, solid, translucent…). You can’t see it clearly with pictures, but in real, it is obvious! But I try to find the same shade for the street font. It’s not as important for the other fonts, especially for the side which be hidden by other modular buildings.
  23. Bonjour! Un cousin de l'autre côté de l'atlantique!

    Do you speek french? Anyway...

Thanks for your comment about my modular building.

Have you a brickshelf gallery or something like that to see your houses?

  24. B-RM-3E Hello everybody ! It’s time for me, after a very long moment, to share with you one of my latest MOC. After some times and times working on my layout, I came with that : All those houses were made in a scale between classic town sets end modular building sets, with open back. This choice was a good compromise between details that you can put and less pieces needed compared to a modular building. But with all those houses, I don’t have any new ideas or challenge to build something new. I don’t have this feeling to overpass myself trying something else. And without that feeling, I don’t have the envy to make some mocs… And one day, I discovered here the pictures of the upcoming petshop set. It made me want to rebuild my official modular buildings (café corner, market street, green grocer, grand emporium but not the fire house, that I really don’t like…). Ok, but if I do that, I have to destroy my reduced versions… And why not to try building other modular houses? Maybe it’s a good idea… But I have to accept that I won’t be able to upgrade all of my houses… I don’t care about this and go on. So after taking some pictures of my houses to remember how I made them in case of, destroying all that stuff, storing all those bricks, I started to rebuild the official modular building before starting my own modular house… After those first steps, it was time to build something. And my first choice was to upgrade my yellow house. Back in time, in 2007, my yellow house looked like that : In 2008, I just have given it some minor modifications : And in 2009, another light restyling : I decided to keep the general look of this house, with its classic architecure of the 1900’ and I came with that front : 3/4 front : back : 3/4 back : We have the firts floor (I don’t know what kind of shop it will be :a library or a book shop, why not?), a second and a third floor with a pergola : My first try with this pergola don’t permit to have a good playability, with a not so easy access to the terrace. Si I decided to make it removable : And now, some interior shots. I don’t put any furniture for now, maybe it will come later… The first floor : With the same mechanism for the stairs that in the pet shop set, to allow a better access to the inside : Second floor : Third floor : And finally a picture with other modular buildings : I’m very happy with my first modular moc experience! As I suspected, building in a modular scale needs a lot of pieces! I used more than the half of my yellow bricks in stocks to come with that house! I realized afterwards that I don’t have as many bricks for mocing!...
  25. So here my entry. It's my first try in microscaled train. But I think that you will recognise it! And now, another entry. It's not mine, and I know that we have to post just one entry. Take it as extra. At fisrt lokk, nothing really special... But after openig this container... Some public toilets where there is some cleanning to do! Poor woman!
