  1. I have to agree with Ralph here. Building official sets is nice, but its been designed by someone else and not you, so surely you would feel more pride and achievement if you built something stunning that was all your own design. I havnt got any official sets still assembled, because theres so much more possibilities and things to build with the pieces. Lego sets are generally aimed at the younger generation, so the sets do have more of a 'toy' look. I prefer a more realistic look, and would rather build my own designs. In my opinion, Lego just supplys the bricks, the rest is all down to your own creative imagination!
  2. Thats fine, so im building one of the dock areas which are 16x32 size. By the way, i think you put my name by the soldiers fort by mistake
  3. Your doing such a great job with this. You've deffinitly come along way since i first checked out your mocpages back in feb last year, it was hard trying to see your vision from reading your original plan back then, but now its all fitting together and i can see where your going with this. Very epic indeed! The fort is looking great and the large size means you can cram loads of busy scenes into it. Cant wait to see this complete, im sure the time and hard work put in will be all worth it when you can finally stand back and view the finished product feeling very smug and proud of yourself I look forward to going back to pirate mocs, but working on castle at the moment. I'll be sure to check up on your updates. Great work sir!
  4. Im confused, Ratshot said theres a plaace for a port, but does that mean the second dock area? Im not sure what ive been put down to do
  5. Well as theres no port, i'll take one of the houses, number 30
  6. Looks like I missed this, havnt been active on here the last few weeks. Great idea though, I look forward to seeing the final versions, and where's the port?
  7. Happy New Year to all members, 2009 was a good year as I joined up here as a newbie and what a great site this is! Great people who always help out and offer advice! Bring on 2010, now I've gained some building experience I hope to really try and build some good mocs this year, and look forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with. Happy building!
  8. Great job guys, excellent entries worthy of the prize. Congrats
  9. I had wondered wether you were going to complete the ship from your ptv entry, and so you have. Wonderfull build, as ive said before, i like the technique you use for ship building as its original and different from what everyone else seems to be using, but it looks just as nice. Great work
  10. That looks awesome, and i really love the colour scheme, dark blue is a colour that i dont see used that often and it looks great here.
  11. Haha, i cringe at my dodgy London accent. Cheers for the interview Zuloo+Iz, you do a great job here, keep up the good work
  12. Theres so many great entrys here, very difficult, but im going to pick the ones that i think suited the theme well and really stood out. Cap'n Blackmoor - 2 Great work from you and i just loved the scene. Maydayartist - 2 Great idea, lovely details, the best shipyard ive seen and fits the contest theme perfectly. I Scream Clone (or whatever your calling yourself these days ) - 1 I love the Incan/mayan temple which was really different and makes this moc stand out, awesome build. Guss - 1 I Love the whale/shark/Loch Ness Monster thingy, looks awesome, and the ship is very well built and detailed. Kris Kelvin - 1 Great version of a classic set, pulled off with your unmistakable style.
  13. Thats a really cool moc you have there, i do like the flying ship, very neat. Is this one of the redcoat's secret weapons?
  14. Great idea on building all at one time, and quite a big undertaking! Im sure they will turn out great. Im gonna have the same problem when i build my Gulivers Travels moc, gonna need to build 16 or more ships for that and i'll be in poverty . Are you going to build them all with the same colour-scheme? Great for the british navy, but both them and the bluecoats will be running scared of Lord Derfel's Privateer fleet when its posted :pir-skull:
  15. Ok, another host of great entries! Paul Cantu - 2 74Louloute - 2 TinyPiesRUs - 1 Lego Warlord 8- 1 Nate - 1 All other entries were awesome though.
  16. What a great scene you have created! A nice mix of pirate, soldiers and islanders. Both islands are very eye catching with some great detail, but the thing that stands out most to me are the waves. Very simple, yet very effective! Great work
  17. Ah, shouldnt your icon say BTS then I look forward to seeing this awesome ship rebuilt, maybe CGH has some old wip pics you could use.
  18. Thanks again cap! I was waiting for someone to comment on the roof, thats my problem, ive been very lazy when it comes to roofs, i keep meaning to use a better technique. Its someting i plan to work on in future cheers for the kind words
  19. This is a very old thread. Thanks, if its pics your looking for then heres a link to my mocpages: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/106710
  20. Thanks cap, i had forgoten about this ship, it feels quite old now, and she wasn't assembled for long as i needed to use the pieces. I agree about the rigging, hopefully i'll get round to building a ship like one of yours with realistic rigging and sails. But im more of a land-based mocer, so i dont know when i'll attempt another ship.
  21. Im sure you'll get her fixed up. Our you part of behind the helm now then commodor?
  22. Looking very nice so far, and welcome Nice colour scheme and building designs, althouth i think you should raise the dock if you planing to have some big ships there, because the ship will only end up dwarfing the dock and making them look odd. Would be nice to see this put to the brick! Any questions, just ask
  23. Thats such a shame as it was a beautiful model and i was always thought that was one of the best ship mocs. Unfortunatly this happens all the time as people seem to kick and throw parcels just because they can get away with it and with no thought at all. I had a friend who works at a airport and he said he use to watch baggage handlers deliberatly smash valuebles for the sake of it. Hopefully CGH can help you get her back together. Although CGH might now get bombarded with people asking if hes selling any of his other ships But dont forget, luckerly it is Lego, which means it can be rebuilt and im sure you will get her ship shape and seaworthy soon.
  24. Thats a really vibrant scene swashbuckler! You've captured the feel perfectly. Lots going on and some great variety. Ive noticed you have been basing your mocs on historic places and people and thats a nice idea. Im planning to build a new port myself, but im having a break from pirates at the moment so i can come back with something fresh. In the meantime im working on a new 'Myths and Legends' series of castle mocs. Anyway great work. Ever thought about doing any british coast mocs? Or Bartholmew Roberts? I look forward to your next creation
  25. Well thats just really unbelievably really nice actually Awesome work all round with this. A beautiful moc from the design to the colour scheme. I must say ive become quite a fan of your mocs. Excellent work sir!
