  1. Those are two really awesome mocs. Both look really eye catching and i love all the little details and techniques you've crammed in there. Great back story info too! Excellent work allround
  2. Another really nice build, great little interior and i like the idea that the roof can be lifted up. Very nice
  3. This certainly looks promising and i like the idea you've come up with for a working rudder. Nice work, i look forward to seeing the next updates.
  4. Thats a very nice scene you have there! Lots going on and it has a classic pirate look and feel to it. Keep up the good work.
  5. This is really eye catching, i like the colour scheme, the blue goes ell with the tan window frames. The interior is nicely done and the coffin looks great! Nice One!
  6. Nice! I like the fact that it has a different look to it, which gives it a more sinister vibe. Great work on this.
  7. These are all awesome, but my favourite has to be the Hell's Bell. Great details on that one expecially the wave and wind-blown tree. Nice work.
  8. I havn't really got the time as of yet to set up a really good ghostly picture, but i did make a quick attempt at one. Ive deliberatly made the couple on the rock look blurry, as most real pics of ghosts are never clear This is the couple on the rock with the old woman in the background. And another one of the same shot, but with a bit more colour and weird effects on the ghosts. I think i prefer the first. Thanks
  9. Thanks for the blog, legends often borrow from other legends and thats how they evolve, but theres usually a truth or real incident that starts it all off. Yes, a ghost would be cool, might be tricky to pull off in a good way though. I'll have to try it out.
  10. I might try and put together a 'night scene' with Nell and the old woman down on the rocks. I'll see what i can do
  11. Many Years ago, Nell, a young barmaiden at the Red Horse Inn, fell in love with a sailor named William whose ship came into port one day. Her parents disapproved of him and the two lovers were forbidden to ever meet again. The night before the sailor was due to leave on his ship, the pair managed one last meeting by the rocks on the beach. They vowed that they would be true to one another forever and, living or dead, they would one day meet again. The young sailor left port the next day and no news came from him for many months. Nell, growing more melancholy every day, watched for his ship from Hella Point under the old tree, which later became know as Nell's Point. Eventually, she became quite mad and did little else but lament the loss of her lover. One moonlit night, an old woman sitting up on the clifftop saw Nell walk down onto the beach and sit on a rock that was partially surrounded by water. The tide began to rise but Nell continued to gaze out to sea. The old woman, seeing the danger the girl was in, decided to go down and warn her of the dangerous rising water. When she arrived down on the beach, the old woman was surprised to see a sailor beside the young girl with his arm round her. Believing Nell to be safe, the old woman sat down to watch the couple, and she noticed a think mist forming. But the lovers did not move and, with increasing concern, the old woman called out to them. Neither of the lovers heeded her warning. The old woman started over to them, but to her astonishment the lovers suddenly appeared to float off over the sea and vanish into the mist. Nell was never ever seen again, and word came the next day that William's ship had gone down in a storm the night before with the loss of all life. The ghost of Nell and William are frequently seen on misty moonlit nights, and are considered by local sailors as an omen of disaster, and no one from Porthgwarra dares head out to sea on such nights. 12. Just to check, my partner Honeybee has taken over my comunity build, as she had been bugging me for ages cause she wanted to do it. I hope thats ok, its still the same dok area, but just built by her and she will post it under her name. Is that ok? Thanks DC
  13. Thanks for the comments. Ive spent a bit of time on each building trying to fit as much detail as i can, more than I have on previous mocs. Heres a few more pics. This is the left side of the port, and im virtually finished with the buildings on this side. Just need to work on the courtyard and marketplace behind the buildings. A closer shot of the buildings. The green building is the stallion pub which is an important part of the legend that the moc is based on. The large open hole on the ground is where im planing on building a courtyard/green area or marketplace. Maybe both. I will post another update when the left side is complete.
  14. This is the start of what will be the first in a series of large mocs based on Myths and Legends. This particular one is going to be based on a old cursed fishing village, which is why im posting it here . Im going for very 'detailed' on these mocs, as i really want to bring them to life! They will not all be pirate themed though. The next installments will be about the witch known as Mary Jane, then Jack the Ripper followed by Sleepy Hollow and some others that i wont mention yet. I hope to get this first one finished soon, but dont want to give to much away yet, so heres a quick wip picture of a small section.
  15. Awesome work mate! Kind of reminds me of a level on a old Donkey Kong Country Game that i always liked. Nice work on the swamp, you've deffinitely captured the look and feel. Ive experimented with dark green for a swamp on a previous moc, but standard green seems to work well here, and far easier to get the bricks. Nice one.
  16. Thanks The cabin could have an interior if needed, as I have tiled out the floor and theres space. But the rest of the ship doesn't have any interior. Yeah, one of my favourite Megadeth songs and I figured it made a good name for a pirate ship . Thanks for the frontpage. The checkerboard patern is actually dark red and metallica gold. I was originally going to do all the ship in gold, but felt it looked better with another colour. I didnt have any Gold plates, so I used tan instead, which matches the gold when seen in certain light. Thanks, im very tempted to redo the other sails in the same way as the front one, and make them a bit more squarer. I will give it a go, but I'll wait till my port scene is finished, then I can photo the ship at dock by the port. Thanks for the comments
  17. Wow, thats looking really stunning. I love the colours of the masts, the cabin interior looks great and your rigging looks really good here(i prefer black string to the lighter colours that others use). I look forward to seeing this completed.
  18. Nice entry you've made here, gets the point across well! Nice details and i like the chain railing which looks good here. Good luck in the contest
  19. Great work mate, i was wondering when you were going to post another entry. The first thing that strikes me about this is the shape of the wall. Ive been toying with the same idea to try and make a more curved port, but ive done it a different way. Your have to let me know how you went about this. Looks great here though, and the lighting really adds to the effect. Theres the usuall great details all over this moc and i see you've gone for studded water again?, i have bad feeling im gonna regret my use of tiled water
  20. Looks like it has a lot of potential so far! Your last ship was stunning and looked so realistic in the pics, so I deffinitly look forward to seeing how this one turns out. Keep up the good work!
  21. Thats a nice little moc you have there. I like the interior and you've got some great details. The roof idea is interesting and works well. Nice
  22. Thankyou for all your great comments, I have been busy with pirate mocs this last month for the JRC. Only 1 more and my community build and then I have some castle mocs to work on. But I have some new pirate ideas that i'll start after that. No, i abandoned the passageway as I'd like to do it on a larger scale in a later moc. I might make a basic tutorial for rock/cliff building as it seems quite a few people have trouble with it. In the meantime it might help you to take a look at real life pictures of coastlines to get some ideas. Yes, they do look similar, but that is the modular style ive been working with, so they can make a coastline. I have tryed to not make them as often now, as the last one was back last year. There is so many formations and ideas that you can do with the cliffsides. I plan to make the rock work on future mocs much more interesting with lots more caves, coves, rock pools and other hidden things. I have got some flatter mocs that i plan to work on, but like you say, making rugged cliffs and caves is a lot more fun. Thanks fors the blog! Thankyou, always great coming from a ship moc master such as yourself
  23. A lone arch and some crumbling walls are all that remain of an old castle. A retired sailor lives by the ruins perched above a dangerous cove. A peacfull life it would seem? But he knows strange and sinister things are going on beneath the cliffs. Hes seen the strange lights and pirates in the cove down below him. They come and go often, but what are they using the cove for? If only he knew what they were hiding in the dark caves! This is an idea ive had for a while, and i was originally going to just have a big ruined castle with a secret passage way down into the cave below. But i realised while building, that to do it propperly i would need a much bigger cave and the model would have to be twice the size. So i changed it to what you now see. Allthough i do plan to build the large original idea in the near future. Enjoy For more and larger versions of the pictures, visit my flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/45244184@N04/
  24. Thats a very nice ship you have there. Nice colourscheme and details. I cant really critique any of this as ships are something i dont know much about, which is why you dont see many from me. It looks pretty good to me! Nice work
