  1. Thanks for all the comments! Thanks, I do have 3 of my module scenes still assembled, although ive taken a break from my coastline project as Ive wanted to build some smaller mocs. Im quite unsure how to go about things now, as each module costs a lot to build and takes a while to assemble the pieces. Plus theres quite a few moc ideas i want to try and its getting really tempting to dismantle them as it would give me so many more pieces. Im starting to think I should take them apart and then build just one module at a time, photo it then take it apart and build the next. Then join all the picTures together to show how the coastline looks. Probably be a lot less money and time consuming. Thats exactly the image that inspired the name for this moc, as i happened to see the famous poster appear on TV as i was finishing the moc. Nice work on those posters guys! For King And Country always! DC
  2. Like i said on your flickr page, this is a lovely scene. Nice details with lots going on, and i like the fact that you've tryed something different with the cliffs. I know its not everyones cup of tea, but its good to experiment! Nice work
  3. Looking very good! I like the docks, the're very original as i havnt seen anyone else build that type. The whole idea of the woodwork built around the stone pillars is really good. The houses are coming along nice, i can understand you wanting to use the more rarer colours as it makes a nice change from the usual brown/black/tan combination that most people use. Im quite into using grey/brown/sand green combo at the moment as it comes off quite well. You mentioned interiors to the houses? I sometimes find this can be challenging when it comes to detail, as i like to use a lot of details and techniques on the front of houses which often leaves the wall of the interior looking very messy. So on smaller houses like these, its usually a case of building a double wall inside(more brick consuming) or sacrifice some detail on the front. It might pay you to have a row of houses as a backdrop which wont need an interior, then you can build some really detailed fronts. Keep up the good work Z, this is shaping up to be a really epic project. DC
  4. Thanks, as for those 1x1s, dont remind me, and they have seperate boxes for each colour! - A long and tiring process.
  5. I really like this, you've achieved a nice shape with the slopes on the walls. I really like churches as they have a supernatural vibe to them which is one of the things i wanted to capture in my last church moc. This would be great to see brick-built in the center of a medieval town. You're gonna have to start building your designs.
  6. Thanks for comments! I have a team of elfs who work day and night at my command This moc actually only took me 2 days, which was really down to the fact that I had a clear image and idea of what I was going to build, so I built the main bulk of it on the saturday and added the little details and figures on the sunday. Plus it helps that i have all my pieces organised which really does make things easier.
  7. Thanks for all the great comments you guys! I would really like to get round to building a bigger fort this year, but not sure when i'll be able to fit it in, so you'll just have to watch this space. Thats fine with me sorry i havnt been able to reply sooner. Heres a link to my flickr page which has some larger images: http://www.flickr.com/photos/45244184@N04/ Thanks again!
  8. Another very nice build from you. I love overgrown buildings and you've really captured that old overgrown feeling. Lovely details and a nice interior with some great scenes going on! Good work, i look 4ward to the next installment
  9. Awesome litte scene mate! Nice idea with some great details. Look forward to your next pirate moc!
  10. What a great effort you have made with this! I dont think ive seen many mocs from you, and this is a really great build! You cant go wrong with that colourscheme and it looks great here. Nice stern and bow, I do like the figure head - kind of reminds me of a bull. Great work Conner, all those times frontpaging other peoples mocs, i think its time you were frontpaged with this beauty
  11. Great find! this is awesome. I love ships built on brick built hulls, and this has a lovely shape achieved on the hull. Nice colourscheme too. Great build!
  12. Thanks for all the great comments. I really wanted this moc to have a overgrown countryside feel to it, and im pleased with how it turned out. Ive settled on a final plan for the whole project which is as follows. To start, ive opted to choose the more fantasy well known version of the Arthur theme. Unfortunatly, if a real Arthur did exist, he would not have lived in a many towered castle but in a earth mound fort with wooden fighting platforms and a leaky wooden feasting hall. There would have been no knights in shining armour because knight didnt even exist then, they would have been very feral looking celtic warriors, and there would have been no round table, Lancelot, Merlin, Holy Grail etc. So as you can see, the fantasy version is far more fun to build. I have planned for 16 modules including the church, and each module will be the same 80x80 stud square size. These will be layed out in rows of 4, with the front 8 comprising of the church, village and countryside, and the back 8 focusing on the castle and town. As you can imagine, this is a very daunting, time consuming and expensive task . If i dismantled my pirate mocs i'd have enuff parts to build 4 maybe 5 of these modules, but then i'd be wiped out of bricks. It would take a good few years to amass the bricks to complete this task and i dont want to wait ages without building anything while i try to get all the parts. So i have thought up a way to get round this. I have taken lots of pics of this moc and recorded how it basicly all goes together, this means i can now dismantle it and keep doing this process as i will keep a detailed assement of each moc so i can go back and rebuild them as the parts become availible to me. Although i will only be dismantling the landscapes, as i hqve plenty enough pieces to be able to keep the church and other buildings intact. Hopefully by the end of this year i will have pictures of at least the front 8 modules which i can put together to give you a idea on where they will be placed and how it will look when their all built. Then hopefully next year i should have bought enough pieces to build them and hopefully get them to a Lego show for a castle display. So, thats the plan, i will begin work on module 2 next week. Sorry for the length of the speach Thanks again for the comments DC
  13. Thats just plain awesome! If that was a set i'd sooo buy it! Great work
  14. Thanks for the comments I built the landscape by building a 7 high 46x46 brick square in the center which i rested the baseplates with the church on. Then i built the landscape all around. The allowed me to have a 7 stud height to play around with while building the outer landscape. I wanted the church to look like it was on a sort of hill. The square structure in the middle is made up of pillars of 2x2 that are spaced 6 studs appart, then there are 8x2 bricks that rest on top and connect each pillar together, like scaffolding, and the same technique was used under the rest of the landscape but at the different heights needed.
  15. Well, after a nice long Xmas and New Years break, I decided to start building again. I thought i would try my hand at the castle theme and so might as well start work on my Camelot project. This is one of the small churches that will be in the outer village which im going to build first before I tackle the main castle and inner village. The church is built modular so i can attach the other scenes around it. But this is just the first step and this project is going to take some time , plus i still have pirate mocs to finish!!! Oh well, better get building Enjoy.
  16. Cool swordfight, all i can suggest is to try and add a bit more in the background. Is that the Indy music i hear?
  17. Cheers guys, looks like if going to have to wait for the brown ones then . Light and dark bley might be handy though. Perhaps there might be some brown ones with the new castle 'Kingdoms' line.
  18. Does anyone know if 1x3 tiles are availible in brown or dark brown? Does the new IMP Flagship have them, because i'd like to know before i buy it, otherwise i'll look for a set that does.
  19. A great selection of mocs! Erdbeereis - 1 Svelte - 1 Slyowl - 1
  20. Very nicely done slyowl, great detail and action as usual, but the thing that strikes me most is that you have chosen a studded water which is quite unlike you, but it works great here. Great pirate moc, i might have to check out the JRC.
  21. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking official sets, or people who like to use them. Like TheOtters said, each to his own, my personal preference is to build my own designs because I like to build big and Lego don't release sets on the size I build. With pirates and castle I will always build my own creations, but if I was to build a country landscape with railway, then I'd probably use the Emerald Night with it because Im terrible at building trains. It's a case of using official sets to fill in where I need. Plus I think the Cafe Corner style sets changed things with moc purists, because they were very detailed sets and most afols use them in their town displays. At the end of the day it doesn't matter how you use your sets and bricks, it's about creativity, imagination and having fun. It's been a nice long Xmas break from building, but if you don't mind, I think I'm gonna go and start building again!
