Love the simple design!

I think I have enough space to put a stabilizer in front of the first rear axle, but not on the rear. The plows they use here aren't Unimog Style, mostly the same style cab as the wrecker, but I'm sure I'll get some ideas from that set on how to build the part that actually pushes the snow :)

This is the best photo I could find of the rotator. I forgot to mention I plan to do a Ministry of Transport (Highways) Plow as well. I had originally started with 7 wide based on ER0L's version however it wasn't looking how I wanted it. So I took apart my 60056 and started from there. I may try to do 7 wide later.

Yes in fact I just put in a bricklink order for more parts to build Adam's Kenworth Truck and the Rescue Truck. Thanks the kind comments. Do you have a picture of your rotator somewhere?
-
After 60056 was released last year I made it a point that I would one day build the flagship truck from my favorite TV show "Highway Thru Hell" which focuses on the dangers of a driving in the winter on highway about 3 hours from where I live. (The show is on Discovery in Canada, Weather Network in the USA or National Geographic in other countries). This truck is a lot larger than 60056 as it is a Tri-Axel Tow truck with 3 wheels in the back vs 2 in the set. Includes sleeper cab, work light mast, two winch lines, rotating boom arm. . The Rotator or HR-150 is the flagship of Jamie Davis Heavy Rescue's fleet. Unlike the other trucks in the fleet the boom arm is on a pedestal which rotates around and can lift entire truck wrecks, a great advantage to have recovering wrecks in the twists and turns of the Coquihalla Highway or the narrow Fraser Canyon. Dispatching the Rotator isn't taken lightly, it costs over $400 in fuel to get this truck to the top of the Coq' from Hope.

Awesome! I remember seeing your bus on a flickr last year but couldn't make out who built it.

New LEGO Stores opening in 2014-2015
timtosino replied to rubberninja's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm hearing that TLG will no longer have volunteers for store openings. Can anyone confirm this? If so are they even going to do Master Builder Events anymore? -
I agree and the wrecker is my favourite of this release. I plan to get another set just to deck it out in Red. While some people say that it's too long or too North American it's just how it is. The wreckers here in North America need to be longer because the trucks over here are longer, more powerful, and haul longer distances than the ones in Europe. The orange wrecker in the garage a couple years ago is something you'd see towing a delivery truck and not out on the highway.

LOL at the Grandparent that that bought the set for their grandkids and reviewed it. If you had that amount of money to spend on grandkids I'm sure they would have had much more fun with 2 or 3 modulars.

Very cool model! I've actually met Mikey McBryan IRL (he was at my work) and didn't know he was an AFOL!

Do you happen to have a picture or brand name of these barriers?

This is the best picture I could find. They've long since been retired or trashed.

The reason why we might not have a staff member in front of the MOC table is that table is secondary to what we are doing at that event. We were asked to participate in the Brick Games in Langley, BC and all our members were busy helping out with the competitions and heats. The barriers there were 8 foot long fence panels that were too large for the tables and people simply walked around them, Robin who was in charge of the entire thing had to keep chasing people out. While one person might not be behind the lines there is always someone in the vicinity, if there isn't we have 5 ft tall pexlglass that we put around tables. While fences might be ideal, they are a pain to transport. We're just looking for stanchions that we can easily setup for a day event like an outdoor festival or for venues that may not provide them.

A continuing problem has shown itself for almost every show/display my LUG has been asked to participate in, we don't have proper heavy stanchions to prevent people from getting too close to our display. We had ones made of wood and plastic chain previously but these get moved easily and take too much time to setup. The problem is getting worse as we are starting to setup MOC tables at at our own or events for another smaller club we support. that might not have a member behind the rope at all times. I've tried craigslist to find used heavy duty stanchions but can only find them in limited quantities of 2 or 3. Has anyone had any luck with these cheap models that range $100 per pair? http://www.crowdcont...crcostblwb.html . I'd like to know how they stand up to to being transported.

That police helicopter sure looks ugly compared to the one out now. I'm not sure even what type of aircraft they were modeling it after. The whole Blue/Black/White Police colors scheme I'm not a fan of either.

Love the huge heavy tow truck. reminds me of one of my fav shows Highway Thru Hell.

I'm managed to find The Write Brick out of Chicago who is willing to do my order: http://www.thewritebrick.com/

Stuart said he won't be able to engrave anything for awhile an doesn't have a timeframe yet on when he might get it fixed. He charged my $4-5 for each 2 piece badge with backer.

I'd like to resurrect this thread, I was able to get the first round of badges engraved by Stuart G. from CoWLUG, but his CNC machine broke after I submitted him another order in the summer of 2013. Does anyone know of a person or website who offers this service now? (preferably in North America) Someone in my club just tried to order from Tommy (The Brickprinter/Engraver) in Sept. and he never replied and then almost got screwed over if not for Paypal agreeing to waive the dispute date.

Value of Original 1973 Instructions #730?
timtosino replied to Dariusking's topic in General LEGO Discussion
On bricklink.com they go for $2.00 - $3.50 a piece. Not sure if its worth listing. -
Was anyone having problems getting the AFOL discount this past Sunday? We had one club member who tried to use it at the new Surrey, BC store and he was refused because the sticker said '12 on it. Maybe LEGO should avoid all confusion for 2014 and just put '14 on it, when I first used it I was questioned too why it said '12.
