  1. Can anyone confirm if this set was ever relased in stores in North America? Brickpedia http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/3222_Helicopter_and_Limousine says it came out in Feb 2010 with the new airport and planes. However I have never seen this in Canadian or American TRU, Walmart, or even the Bellevue Lego Store. I can't even seen to find it on the Toys R Us site.
  2. I just confirmed with my club that the US/CAN VIP points go 1 for 1 and you can redeem them on S@H Canada/USA and Lego Stores in USA (Not sure what the situation will be when Calgary opens up). There really isn't an advatage of doing this on either side of the border.. If I buy lego in Canada I am paying a 15%+ premium over the US Exchange Rate which hardly makes up for the 5% back. If I redeem points earned in the USA on S@H Canada I am still paying that 15% premium again. Thankfully LEGO doesn't care about this confusing scenario and does them 1 for 1 despite the VIP card rules :P
  3. I am from Vancouver, BC and I just registered a VIP card in Bellevue WA. One of my friends just went over the fine print in the program and it says that the points earned are redeemable in your country of residence only. I bought a Imperial Flagship in WA state and got 180 points, which translated into $5 redemable in CAD. I couldn't redeem the points yet in WA because you need 24 hours for them to show up but it seems pretty pointless for me if I can't redeem them there as the Seattle Lego Store is about 6 hours closer than the Calgary one and am upset at the ridiculousness of earning points in one store and not being able to redeem them at that same location. I imagine this would draw even more complaints from people in Europe.
  4. I got a reply back from CJB saying they most do printing not engraving. I can't believe no on else but Tommy offers this service. I see he does work for people who get posted to TTB but can't be bothered to do an order I submitted to him over a year ago, it just makes me boil
  5. Lemme give you a quick run down of the run around he gave me: March 2009: I email Tommy about some bricks I wanted engraved with my name and another 15 for my club. October 2009: I make a comment on flickr on Bill Tojwes flickr stream that Tommy never replied to me, Tommy emails me back that the the emails from both my adresses were put in his spam folder. He promptly offers to do my own work for free and charges $30 for the club stuff. I email him back saying that's great, what paypal does he want it sent to. Novmber 2009: Having not heard back from him I email him again asking if he's started the work or needs more time to get bricks, he said he sent them out a long time ago. Janurary 2010: I email him again asking if they were ever sent out, he never replies, I grow frustrated in the full year he's had my order he's gotten a new website, and advertisments, yet I'm reduced to commenting about his poor customer service on flickr. The good news is we might have a local AFOL who might do the engraving, he might just need a few practice bricks to flesh it out :)
  6. It seems as if CJB closed his bricklink shop completey and hasn't updated his website since Jan. On another note The Brick Engraver has an ad on The Brick Journal I noticed, fat chance he'll ever reply to you though. I guess my club is royally screwed over once again.
  7. Thanks for the help guys i'll let my club know, hopefully he'll be done moving soon.
  8. I've been trying to get engraved name badges for my club for over a year. Yes I've heard of the brickengraver and I sent him an email literally a year ago and he only got back to me in Oct after I prodded him on flickr. Needless to say after numerous emails of him promising to do my work and saying he's already sent it out but not even telling me how to pay for it I've given up. Good thing I didn't send him any money but its dishearting because my club has a bunch of new members who would like to go down to BrickCon this year with badges. Is there no one else that does this service because the brickengraver's service = FAIL. It is a decently sized order too maybe 15 name badges.
  9. It isn't possible to use a Sharpie and black stripes out on a UPC, UPC codes are only 12 numbers and if the register can't read 12 digits, the item would not scan. Even if the barcode is damaged I'm pretty sure Wally World has 100 line scanners to read codes on the most damaged of all tags. I think the latter is the case, people can readily buy barcode printers and software and use them on their computer for less than $200. You can find sites listing the numbers for UPC codes of items from Coca-Cola cans to Tide on the internet for free so I'm sure LEGO must be on there as well. I hope packaging companies start to put in some fraud prevention measures like holograms because printing out a label at home costs the person less than 10 cents.
  10. We've already been exchanging emails back and forth this week, hoping for more VLC/VicLug Cooperation! :)
  11. Here's more indepth pictures of the Translink bus I did: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tim_tosino/se...ith/3332523088/ with credit to Mad Physicist (Ralph S.) for his design. It was featured on the Translink Blog and the whole display was on the news on tuesday night. Glad people from the island can make it over. We really should keep in touch with you guys more. Infact at the meeting last night I think we wer even trying to draw inspiration from VICLUG's website. BTW I'm really glad you snapped a good picture of the bus and it looks like everything is in one piece. People have been telling me it keeps getting broken/picked up, but I'm glad nothing has been stolen off it and it survived the majority of spring break intact.
