Somewhere off in the stony wastes, something is hungry. ^ Click this photo to view the MOCpages gallery. ^ Something different from my usual MOCs... this is my first complete non-humanoid build in months. I'm quite satisfied with it. Sorry for the relatively small amount of photos, but there's really not a large variety of poses I can put a giant scorpion in. Feedback is appreciated.

I do agree with a lot of what Aanchir said. This is a frustrating issue as a MOCist, especially when you've made a MOC that has the same helmet as something but doesn't look like it, and someone says that it does, just because of the mask. Or when a certain MOCist makes a MOC with that mask which somehow becomes iconic (specifically Ben Cossy, though most of you won't know him) and everyone says that your MOC with the same mask is just a rip-off of that one... I explained that poorly, hopefully you know what I mean.

Oh, cool. I remember that now. Three eyes would've been interesting.
-
I feel like I've seen that before, but I don't remember what it looks like. I do agree though, a bunch of the prototypes and design sketches looked pretty awesome, especially around the Phantoka line (though some people disagree with me about that).

Thanks! Trust me, I will... catapult scorpion revamp this week! :D

So how come Hero Factory doesn't rate a proper TV show?
Chro replied to pocketmego's topic in LEGO Action Figures
... No. -
Ah, you mean a custom Technic build... well, the torso is a good start. :)
-
Thanks Nova. The upper legs are actually quite simple, as far as custom Technic limbs go. I could probably do a breakdown for that design, if you'd like.

I'd recommend editing your previous post to add the photos instead of double-posting... Anyway, what do you mean by scratch build? Scratch-and-sniff?
-
Yeah, I'd suspect that it was made for Rocka, but not given to him immediately- thus his name being on the side of it. You know, Hero Recon and all their random projects.
-
Well, they sometimes do (for example, a racecar driver's jumpsuit will have the same company colors as the car). But I still prefer to keep them separated to some degree, like the Rockoh, Axalara, Jetrax, etc. as mentioned by Aanchir.
-
Thanks Mego. It's one of my favorite colors, and sadly, as you said, pretty hard to use in BioMOCing.

Thanks Cirkit. The upper legs were a random idea I had when fiddling around with parts, I think it looks okay. The shoulder joints actually have enough rotation so that the armor doesn't block his face in most normal poses. :D

^ Click the photo above to view the flickr photo set. ^ This is Vander, Toa of the Green. A week or so ago, I built a generic silver and black MOC, then decided to use a color for accents that I wouldn't be able to use as the main color of a MOC. Sand green was the color that I chose, as you can see. Vander is maybe some sort of ninja or ranger character, I'm not really sure what he is exactly. He wields an axe, but also fights hand-to-hand when necessary. His Kanohi, though Tryna-shaped, is actually a Huna. Feedback on the MOC is appreciated.

Eh... I need to build a good vehicle MOC soon, it's been a while since I've done that.
-
Pretty simple, but interesting. It might look good to have a separate accent color for the core, or maybe also the eyes and electricity parts, instead of purple, but that's just me.

Uh... no, considering the name Dark Maker is fake, it isn't.
-
Uh... considering Calendar King (or Man) is an obscure DC villain, I'm gonna call BS.

Thank you for the feedback, Aanchir. I agree, the main issues are in some of the proportions. Just a few things to note though- the upper arms are actually quite short, they just blend with the almost-completely-vertical shoulder connection, which makes them look like that. Also, the upper body isn't actually too heavily armored, or at least wasn't supposed to be; the axes were meant more as aerodynamic blade-wing things. Without them there it'd look weird, though, since they're covering a strange shoulder gap... eh. That's something to improve upon next time, I guess. XD

Thanks Nova. I've seen Axonn blades as armor before, but never sloped down and curved back on the shoulders (though it's obviously possible that it has been done before). :P

[The picture above links to the MOCpages gallery.] Akeja is a female Toa of Magnetism. She uses her power to control a generator, which allows her to move extremely quickly. Akeja is also very skilled at hand-to-hand unarmed combat. Feedback is appreciated.

I think that Brain Wars is probably just a book title for the Brain Attack event, not something we've not seen yet.
-
Cool. I feel like the limbs could use some silver to balance the colors. Also, random idea, it might look interesting if you made the legs a and torso shorter but kept the arms the same, so he'd essentially be a little terrifying ball of murder.
-
Yep. Haha, thanks Rook. I might've mentioned this already, but the legs were the first part I built, so I armored them the most. ;D
