Doesn't that work both ways? It's all anecdotal. Obviously the 2007 lime joints were a legitimate problem, but the rest was just hype brought on by the changing of the joint style. Regardless, it's all a lot better now. And will continue to improve in the future, I'm sure.
-
Because the "cracking" problem was massively overhyped? I had a few break, just as I had a few from pre-2007 break. In the grand scale of things, pretty negligible.
-
Their system makes subtle differentiations between "came broken" and "has broken", so the two often get mixed up. Ultimately they encourage old sets with broken pieces to go through PAB (how else would they make money?) but it's not uncommon for people to simplify the process to just check it as "missing" because the PAB store is not the greatest, and the claims system involves some dialogue.
-
None, same with basically any joint post-2007 (the lime joints actually were a problem). Of course they're going to break at some point. It's not made of diamonds. But there's always this paranoia of faults (especially since the lime joint fiasco, which was, as I say, actually a thing) related to the parts. This is why LEGO's replacement part service exists. They know a minority of people will experience this problem for assorted reasons, so they offer a solution.

Could have been a last minute change-up, maybe something similar to Breakout Breez.

Technically the whole comic was non-canon, sad as it is. Not to mention that it will most likely be free; unless microtransactions suddenly become extremely lucrative for them, it's not like they have a AAA game budget.

It's things like Dragon Bolt that show the set designers really do understand the medium they're working with and how to make the best of it. The technic pin that prevents the underbelly torso armor from moving so you can press the wing button is nothing short of amazing. I was a little skeptical of DB at first (not that I wasn't going to get the set, but none of the media I saw really conveyed what the set could be) but it's easily my favorite from 2013.

Greg was slightly more involved with BIONICLE (where there was frequent communication between all of the different players), but that about sums it up for Hero Factory. Part of the reason for Hero Factory's "simplicity" (and likely the reason the books didn't sell all that well) is because it just has a different core audience. The TV episodes really sum up the type of people they cater to, which is why they're a fairly constant presence. A new theme could have a more mature storyline, or it could just as easily not. Whatever gets the job done of selling the sets.

The fur cladding was only in the summer (although there was the rock cladding before it) so I wouldn't rule it out just yet. That said, multiple new feet molds and claws and things kind of make up for it. Not to mention the heads.

Bulk? Stringer back in his glory days? Furno sometimes? Secondary colors are pretty much bunk at this point. Not to mention that some of these machines could belong to Heroes we've already seen, what with Evo having at least two machines. Not to mention me not mentioning the fact that the chair parts (which is the orange bit) appear in a number of different colors, like Stormer's having orange. That said, it looks like Bulk to me. And the idea of Bulk in a flying machine is amazing.
-
Exactly; it doesn't need for it to do "well" to keep going. Obviously the supplementary stuff doesn't necessarily work out (books, Recon Team, etc) but they make do with what they have. They were heavily implied in the guidebook to be related (part of the same organization), if not the same person (and unknown how VN is involved, if at all). Just for the record.

I was joking... mostly. The spider-queen, no doubt, will be a set, but some of the smaller monsters could very well be just background creatures, and possibly a few machines, too.
-
I'm going to laugh when none of these things actually turn out to be sets, and it's just the animators showing some creativity.
-
Schrodinger's Hero Factory? Maybe Hero Factory will stay "constractionystem" and there will be an all-action figure line. Maybe there will be two different constraction lines. Maybe it's a supplementary constraction line for a new wave (or an old one) a la Chima, or just as a one-off, a la Superheroes. Maybe it's just a concept that will never actually go anywhere. Maybe, maybe, maybe. Edit: Unproven!

It'll more than likely BE a queen, since that's the most recognizable alien archetype to go for (eggs, etc), but linking it to the creature we've seen is speculation.
-
The whole "queen" term isn't accurate by any means, it's just speculation and assumptions based on generic sci-fi tropes. There might even be a queen and that figure isn't it, who knows?
-
Honestly I see more similarities the other way around; the mechs resemble the ones from the Alien franchise, and the monsters look a lot more like the Kaiju. But obviously Pacific Rim drew from a lot of things anyway, so yeah. Exciting nonetheless!
-
Love the trailer; as I suspected, not majorly different in style from the previous ones, but a notable step up in quality. Loving the new sets too, although I was hoping for a bit more variation in the kaiju (can't wait until we have an official name for those). Regardless, that "queen" or whatever is awesome. Overall, I appreciate the change up in theme that Hero Factory has done, and look forward to the sets.

I wonder when the special is actually going to come out? I'd prefer closer to summer, to actually enforce a promotional push for the second wave (assuming those are included) but April (as with the past two years) also provides a decent bridge when the output of material is at its lowest.
-
Well, it sounds like they are working in a more involved capacity this year, perhaps as a result of their newfound experience with the giant mech genre, and part of it is that they are also collaborating with Advance (who are responsible for the in-booklet comics, from the looks of it) for the whole thing. Obviously I don't think it will change monumentally, but considering how the episode will deviate from the typical visual style as it is, we may see more of their influence shine through.
-
I'm surprised anybody thought it would be different. I'd love to see an aerial beast at some point, but considering the piece count on SB and the overall look, it was pretty obvious how it would turn out. Just means he looks slightly better as a double headed monster, is all.
-
I still find it odd that Evo and Stormer have the coms device across all of their incarnations, but none of the other Heroes have it all. That has to have some kind of significance.
-
Set the compatibility mode to zero. I used to have the same problem, then I messed with the settings and stumbled upon that. Works like a dream now.

What's your favorite Hero Factory XL set ?
Dorek replied to Legofan225's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Either Jet Rocka or Stormer XL. Stormer XL really embodies what titans can be, though this was helped by some new pieces. Jet Rocka is just awesome because jetpack. -
I never understood the fascination with dissecting every little bit of the sets before they're out. Must make it really boring to actually own the sets.
