  1. [Jedi Mind Trick]You WILL go to your nearest LEGO-stocking shop, but the first set you see, take it home and build and worship it [/Jedi Mind Trick] Joking aside, tell us a bit more about it. I know many members here have had the same problem.
  2. :-D Welcome. Now what'll it cost for a tell-all about Vader personally. Dirt especially? X-D
  3. On we go with round 2. This round will be exactly half as long as round 1 and we hope twice as exciting. Again matches will be randomly drawn from the remaining fighters. The fighters survivor round 1 are: 1. Wicket 2. Obi Wan Kenobi (Mos Eisley Cantina) 3. Kit Fisto 4. Anakin Skywalker (Ultimate Space Battle) 5. Imperial Scout Trooper (Speeder Bikes) 6. Dengar 7. Jedi Jimmy 8. Super Battle Droid (DBP) 9. Yoda (Wookiee Catamaran) 10. Leia (Jabba's Palace) 11. Droideka (Jedi Defence I) 12. Anakin (Tusken Raider Encounter) 13. Qui Gon Jinn 14. Imperial Red Guard (Imperial Star Destroyer) 15. Darth Vader (Ultimate Lightsaber Duel) 16. Greedo 17. Mace Windu (LULS) 18. Obi Wan Kenobi (Gungan Sub) 19. Jango Fett 20. Darth Maul (Sith Infiltrator) 21. R2-D2 (Jabba's Sailbarge) 22. Obi Wan Kenobi (Ultimate Lightsaber Duel) 23. Darth Vader (Imperial Star Destroyer) 24. Shock Trooper 25. Boba Fett (Cloud City) 26. Obi-Wan Kenobi (Delta-7) 27. Chewbacca (new, system-scale, MF) 28. R4-P17 (Delta-7) 29. Han Solo (new, system-scale, MF) 30. Yoda (Jedi Duel) 31. Darth Tyranus 32. Darth Sidious (Final Duel I) Our first match may shock, but it was bound to happen sooner or later. We can but hope that this set the standard for matches to come. The first match of round 2 will take place in a desolate Tusken Raider camp on Tattooine. Featuring first, Anakin Skywalker (Tusken Raider Encounter). And his opponent, flying in on Eta-2 Actis, its Anakin Skywalker (Ultimate Space Battle) Round 2, match 1. Anakin (Tusken Raider Encounter) vs. Anakin Skywalker (Ultimate Space Battle)
  4. So Darth Sidious wins, thereby ruling one of main bad guys out of round 2. Well that match concludes round 1. Congratulations to all the winners / survivors so far. Round 1 was a fair variation of excitement (like Yoda vs Mace or two Wookiees fighting each other) and boredom, which was inevitable as we removed some of the less able (read "crap") fighters. Its all gonna get more exciting from here. I shall now start a thread for Round 2
  5. I personally would suggest that whereas Yoda and Mace learned to deal with Force lightening, Grievous wouldn't have this training or ability due to: 1. Not being able to call on the Force 2. Why would Darth Sidious / Darth Tyranus teach a defence against arguably the best Sith weapon, one which the Jedi don't use? So lightening hits armour and exo-skelton, metal in contact with organs. Fried organs. OK. Why? I'm not arguing. I just know that I made a decision that seemed right based on the arguements but I knew that it might not please some quarters. I'm not flawless. Or is Sandtrooper just your favouite minifig? :-D
  6. suddenly Hickley jumped out and randomly Whacked him. This really upset...
  7. I don't know what you're talking about ;-) So its four Lightsabers vs erm, none. Just a walking cane. But the Emperor has Force lightening. Well that's the General fried then!
  8. mmmm, something significant about the cost of the winning bid of that set. Can't quite put my finger on it...
  9. I make it 4-3 to Darth Tyranus. I'm ignoring FireFury's input as that was exactly what was asked to not happen in the opening thread! That would have made it 4-4 anyway and I'd probably rule in favour of Darth Tyranus on the basis of stronger arguments. This is the final match of round 1. Tomorrow night, I'll post the winner of this match and conclude round 1, then start round 2 in another thread, opening with a list of the survivors of round 1. Your next match comes from the world of Utapau. First, its Seperatists-General-come-Sith-Wannabe(expect-he-can't-use-the-force(d'oh!)), General Grievous. And his opponent, interestingly, is his boss. An actual Sith Master, its Darth Sidious (Final Duel I) Round 1, match 32. General Grievous vs. Darth Sidious (Final Duel I)
  10. Darth Tyranus easily overcomes the Sandtrooper's pike thing with superior Lightsaber skills.
  11. I have issues with displaying my two B-Wings, two A-Wings and two of my X-Wings together due to their such huge differences in design. Remembering that the rebellion used whatever resources that they could get their hands on, these two Snowspeeders still work and look very good together. They've both just been modified and repairs in different ways. I too don't like the gap. Nice work, Mutley
  12. Interestingly, Yoda wins. Shame for Mace, who had such potential. The penultimate match takes place on board the Invisible Hand. Featuring first a former Jedi Master, now Sith Apprentice. Its Darth Tyranus. And his opponent, from the Mos Eisley Cantina, its an Imperial Sand Trooper. Round 1, match 31. Darth Tyranus vs. Sand Trooper (Mos Eisley Cantina)
  13. :-D This is a real tough one which could go either way. I'm gonna say Mace because he's got thing that Yoda hasn't: Vapaad. Mace is willing to skirt closer to the Dark Side, which Yoda keeps well away from. Though Yoda does have a slight advantage in a chrome-hilt Lightsaber Ask me again tomorrow and I could give a different answer. For the here and now, I'm voting for Master Mace
  14. As far as I recall from visits to Milton Keynes (for both LEGO and Jujitsu), its actually Midlands, not South. Its two and half hours away from me, which is about the same as Windsor.
  15. Not true. I just conclude everyone else's thoughts. On almost every match so far, there's been a clear winner so I just make it official. As the rounds progress, decisions will more split as the matches get more exciting. THEN I might have to use a bit more judgement based on sound arguments. I should add that there's no rule against imagination and humour. My decisions should be transparent. Late evening (British time, which is of course the only time that matters!) It varies based on my shifts and my training. Sometime between about 20:00 and 00:30. Well that's what we decide. Its an elimination tournament. We started at 64 minifgs (128 was just too many! Quite honestly in retrospect I wish we'd started at 32, but that woudl have prevented some from being a part of it that I really wanted in it). After round 1, there'll be 32 left, then 16, then 8 and so on. With several different individual's imaginations, perceptions and interpretations I don't think its possible to predict a winner at this stage. That's the fun part. It seems that after an early lead for Jar Jar, Han eventually won. He goes through to round 2. Just three matches left This next match could just be the match of the tournament. Certainly it will see the demise of one of our potential winners. Introducing first, Jedi Master Mace Windu (non-LULS version). And his opponent, Jedi Master Yoda (Jedi Duel) Round 1, match 30. Mace Windu (Non-LULS) vs. Yoda (Jedi Duel)
  16. Wait and see. A list of all the fighters is in tehe fist post of this thread so you can work out for yourself who's left. Of the final six, one will get their big behind kicked, purely because the other five are so good. There should be two great matches, just don't yet know between who!
  17. Your cockpit still has the Bendu insignia! Great job. Would be good to get a new, printed, Vader like the Boba we got with Cloud City.
  18. Han doesn't have a blaster so its unarmed vs spear. I think Jar Jar is faster and stronger but Han is smarter. He gets behind Jar Jar and chokes him with his ears!
  19. So, surprisingly, R4 wins. Well, suprisingly to me anyway as I thought everyone would vote Luke. There are 8 fighters left / 4 matches left in round 1. There are two Jedi, a Sith and a non-Sith-Lightsaber-wielder among them so some interesting final matches are guaranteed. This following match might be fun for the more imaginative, but is pretty much a forgone conclusion. Or maybe you could prove me wrong? I'll get straight on: Round 1, match 29. Jar Jar Binks (Gungan Patrol) vs. Han Solo (new version of the system-scale, Millennium Falcon)
  20. If its for a LEGO-related meet, then realistically the only feasible place is Windsor. If we go anywhere else, what do we do when we get there? The second option would be somewhere witha LEGO shop. Milton Keynes, anyone?
  21. He doesn't have claws as just his head is hard-wired in the Delta-7! So we've got Luke, a complete novice, who as is correctly stated, barely knows how to hold a Lightsabre vs an armed Jedi starfighter (since R4 is inseperable from the starfighter and can control it without human input) Luke has no chance
  22. I think that sums it up nicely. I voted for MOC 1 as it appeals to my preferences in the space-theme and in playability and functionality.
  23. So Chewie wins a bloody and hard-fought match. Nearly at the end of round 1 now and looking at who's left we're guaranteed some exciting matches this week. The next match takes place on Tattooine. Featuring first fresh from meeting Old Ben Kenobi and finding the charred remains of the aunt and uncle, its Luke Skywalker (Mos Eisley Cantina). And his opponent, now think about this is R4-P17 from the Jedi Starfighter. That is, the Delta-7 Aethersprite. Round 1, match 28. Luke Skywalker (Mos Eisley Cantina) vs. R4-P17 (Jedi Starfighter)
  24. Yep, its an epic battle. Both charge and meet chest to chest, angaging in pointless bear-hugging. The Warrior, being bigger initially powers Chewie, who hits the deck hard on his back (Wookiees don't learn breakfalling). Warrior rears up, Chewie rakes his claws across the Warrior's abdomen. As the Warrior grasps his bleeding belly, Chewie rakes his face, then grabs the back of his head. Pulling him down, he bites the warrior on the neck, then bridges powerfully. Warrior flies over the top, losing a hige lump of flesh and fur to Chewie's teeth. Chewie's up and moving in the kill. They exchange almighty arm strikes. Although the Warrior is stronger, he's hurt, moreso when Chewie wallops him in the belly, from where he's still bleeding. As the Warrior doubles up, Chewie lifts him in a lateral press and SLAMs him to the ground. The Warrior tries to stand, but Chewie interliks his fingers, making a double hammerfist and delvers the coup de grace, getting the KO and the win.
  25. Windsor's really easy to get to from the North: straight down the M40 or M1. You're right, no-one thinks about the North. Why would they? All the best bits of England are in the South! :-D
