Ultimate Star Wars Minifig Challenge Round 2
captaintau replied to captaintau's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It occurs to me that this version of Yoda doesn't actually have a Lightsaber. Yoda is very powerful indeed. But this is wisened, older, Obi Wan. Yoda's only weapon is the "Force", but Obi Wan has spent the last, what, 18 years in meditation and Force development, hence being able to appear to Luke post-death. So Yoda tries hurling Obi Wan off a cliff, but Obi Wan redirects the Force push. They have an almighty Force fight among the tree tops with Yoda staying ahead, but just barely. Ultimately, Obi Wan gets close enough to strike Yoda with his Lightsaber A close and hard-fought win for Obi Wan -

Despite some suggestions of a more positive outcome from some members, Princess Leia unfortunately falls to the SBD. The next match I really didn't want to see. Two of my favourites. One's gotta progress and the fall. This match takes place on the world of Kasssyyk. Introducing first in the leafy-green tree, its Jedi Master Yoda (Wookiee Catamaran). And his opponent, in the foliage-green tree, its Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi (Mos Eisley Cantina) Round 2, match 6. Yoda (Wookiee Catamaran) vs. Obi Wan Kenobi (Mos Eisley Cantina) -

Given that LEGO traditionally used yellow to represent flesh, does that mean they'd use flesh-toned heads to represent the Simpsons' yellow? < captaintau, ducking from the barrage of flesh-toned LEGO heads being lobbed his way! >

I personally wouldn't buy them. I enjoy what little bits I catch of the Simpsons but I'm not an ardent fan. I also struggle to keep up with the sets I want now. That said, I've said before that LEGO and the Simpsons are a perfect match and I'd say a definate YES.

Hinge problems on the SBD are ackowledged. However, I just don't think Leia coudl stand up to that much firepower. Shame, I'd have like to see Leia in future rounds. Actually I'd just liked to have seen Leia! -

OK, so Obi Win wans again. R4 was an interesting addition to the contest but its all over for him now. Your next match again pits human against machine. Introducing first, from the Droids Battle Pack. Its a Super Battle Droid. And his opponent, still with chains attached, its Princess Leia (Jabba's Palace). Give them both a hand (especially since the droid doesn't have any!) Round 2, match 5. Super Battle Droid (Droids Battle Pack) vs. Princess Leia (Jabba's Palace) -
I don't have the sub' so I won't comment on that. The tracked vehicle, well I agree about the non-watertightedness. Always struck me as a tad stupid. But then I suppose no more so than any SW starfighter that had huge great gaps in the cockpit. What you've done is great. It looks more than a complete redesign than a tweak, though. The platform for the scooter is a nice touch, if unintentional. Nice work.

I think against many characters, R4 would be victorious. I mean its essentially a whole starfighter here! But I think Obi Wan, even as young and inexperienced as he is, would be able to deflect any blaster bolts, Force-jump on board and L:ightsaber R4 for the win. -
That's a review??? That's an homage, maybe. Or an act of reminiscence (not that there's anything worng with either, I hasten to add). But a review?

Calling this match early due to working a night shift tonight. Darth Vader wins and advances into round 3. Your next match comes from the city of Otoh Gunga. Introducing first and standing inthe atlantic-blue corer, we have Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi (Gungan Sub). And his opponent, landed in the pacific blue coner, its R4-P17 (Jedi Starfighter). Lets get it on, come on! Round 2, match 4. Obi Wan Kenobi (Gungan Sub) vs. R4-P17 (Jedi Starfighter) -

This is Lord Vader arguably at his most powerful. The Red Guard hasn't a hope, though at least he'll put up a fight, unlike Nute Gunray and co. -

So Darth Sidious gets an easy win. Anyone else remembering the classic YubYub Burger? Your next match takes place on board an Imperial Start Destroyer and has a guest referee in the form of George Lucas (quite why, I have no idea). Featuring first an Imperial Red Guard. And his opponent, Darth Vader (Ultimate Lightsaber Duel). Round 2, match 3. Imperial Red Guard (Imperial Star Destroyer) vs. Darth Vader (Ultimate Lightsaber Duel) -
Ultimate Star Wars Minifig Challenge Round 2

The Emperor sees the potential for such an innocuous-looking being to be an agent of the Sith. Rather than simply beat him, Sidious turns Wicket to the Dark Side. Wicket subsequently slaughters Ewok younglings, learns the ways of the Sith and, as is traditional, slaughters his master. Bugger that, that's not a match. Yep Force Lightening all the way. Sidious wins -
Happy Birthday, Sne. Have a good one.

A split decision sees Ultimate Space Battle Anakin be the first to enter round 3. Your next match takes place on Endor. Featuring first the Ewok, Wicket. And his opponent, fresh from his round 1 win, its Darth Sidious (Final Duel 1). Round 2, match 1. Wicket vs. Darth Sidious (Final Duel 1) -

This is tough one. On the one hand Space-Anakin is further along his journey and is more skilled. On the other hand, could he handle someone with Tusken-Anakin's raw anger? I don't know about his famed Assaj Ventress match, but Tyranus was hardly rushing in full of anger. I can see Tusken-Anakin having the edge here. Maybe the anger would be undoing. Maybe Tusken-Anakin would rush in for the quick kill and Space-Anakin would simply sidestep and easily decapitate him. I'm gonna go with the last paragraph. Ultimate Space Battle Anakin gets the win in my book -

That's about the point I stopped getting LEGO. I picked it up again a couple of years ago after an impulse buy of a small set
