The end of LEGO Pirates by mid 2010
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
That sucks. I guess I'll have plenty of money to spend on those new golf clubs I've been eyeing. I wonder what lame movie/video game copy theme Lego will license next. I hope these stupid franchise sets they put out make them a lot of money...they sure don't feel the same as original Lego themes to me. Lego may claim to be an imigination based product but they sure have a lack of it when it comes to product development! -
This is great. The MOC itself is nice with lots of detail but the lighting effects are tremendous. I see this and I think of all the endless possibilities. I'd love to see more.

Nice scene! I hope she finished him off. Clowns are creepy!

Carribean Clipper vs the Imperial Flagship
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Scouty's topic in LEGO Pirates
The Clipper! It's the original soldiers ship and I have always loved those blue striped sails. -
My first MOC: Upgraded Brickbeard’s Bounty
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Uvga's topic in Pirate MOCs
Turned out very nice with the extra deck. Keeps the original flavor while adding a valuable upgrade. My only grip would be the guy wearing the fedora at the wheel looks a little out of place but other than that an excellent MOD. -
Beautiful MOC. The action is very fluid. Lots of nice little details (including the mouse under the bed getting a front row seat). The breaking windows are expertly done. Very nice job!

I say the more pirates movies the better. Hopefully they will start fresh and not be constrained by the old story lines and characters. I would prefer to see three stand alone movies about the adventures of Jack Sparrow that have to see another long tied together trilogy. But het as a pirates fan I am sure whatever they put out will be better than nothing.

This round was supposed to finish yesterday so please get a move on. The reds need Houndknight and Admiral M to post and it looks like the blue team needs three more. Can you all post by end of the day Monday? We need to keep moving to finish before the big pirate building contest.

There was lots of back an forth on tweaks to the rules in the discussion thread before we started round 2. We dropt the alternating days and went with a try to spread them out approach but its flexible to accomidate peoples schedules. Not sure what you mean by original creations. I know Jansued just built his and I don't seem to recall having seen Frontbeast's before but maybe its older? Here's the final post that we went with: I agree I think we need to get the Tournament back on track so I propose (based on all the feedback) That the four remaining teams go again. One Bluecoat and one Green coat teams will face one another in one match and one Redcoat and one Bluecoat in another match. Zorro can randomly select who goes against which teams. I would also propose that we open the matches this Saturday the 5th and go for 8 days. Each member of each team will post one entry in this round - no alternating days (but lets try to spread them around so we aren't all waiting to the end or rushing on the first day to post - the back and forth is kinda fun). Work for you Zorro? Sorry - I know there has been some confussion.

I owed that guy money anyway

Great find. That is incredible. Lots of amazing ideas. The windmill is very cool as are the winding docks. The only part that doesn't live up to the rest is that black roofed building in the top/middle. It almost looks modern to me. Still a real feast for the eyes!

Take this Bluecoat scum!

Another excellent edition! Thanks for sharing Michael. It is hard to believe there isn't a single Lego store in all of Australia. What did you all do to piss Lego off?

SUCKS!!!! Really seems to say it all. Thanks for the information Bonaparte...you saved me an angry letter since they already seem to have corrected the error even if it isn't in time for this year. It would be great though if there was a special number we called in the US for those of us who are especially dedicated to the pirate theme...Oh well

The Revolution: A Brickfilm Series
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Sir Wellington's topic in Pirate MOCs
That was really cool... for a trailer it was brilliant! I can't wait to see more. I hope your project goes well. Brickfilming is something I would like to get into. I just got a Logitec Quick Cam Pro 9000 and iKITMovie so I am going to start fooling around with them one of these days. I'll have to ask you some questions when I get started. -
I'm glad you are on my side! That is one cool war ship. I am very impressed with the amount of detail you put into the various weapons systems. Can't wait to see her in action against the bluecoats!

What is happening is round two. Since three of the Bluecoat teams won and only one redcoat team it was decided that two of the bluecoat teams would face off against eachother (though one of the teams ate something weird and turned into a greencoat team). The remaining Bluecoat team is facing the redcoat team in this thread though no one has posted yet so its likely to get busy very quickly in this thread as everone has to post by Saturday. Martin I don't remember which team you were one but I thought it was one of the winning bluecoat teams so if that's the case I think they are going to need you unless they replaced you in your absense. I'm building mine tonight and will probablly post it here on Friday. Someone from one side or the other should post if anyone is ready...

WOW - I have been having a heck of a week at work and it looks like I missed a ton in just a short period. Awsome, A banana marooning, a seafood slap fight (I wouldn't want to be the one who took Mrs. Puff to the face!), a bunch of poor, fat, lazy bluecoats sledding in garbage cans, and time travel (that wild west image has to be my favorite - had to wipe some spit off my monitor it made me laugh so hard!). I'd say so far the judges are going to have a really hard time making a selection. Truelly impressive and extremely entertaining.

If anyone is ready you can through up your post. We don't have assigned days this round but do thry to keep the back and forth going as its funny.

I think they are all very cool designs. The second is my favorite (although I am not familiar with a 64x64 base plate?). You can also use the 1x2 sloped wall technique I used in my fort to cut down on the use of 75 degree sloped. You probably can't do it digitally but with real bricks it is easy.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I will continue to work away. It's actually a lot more complete than in the first pictures. So I'll have to reassemble it and take some more shots. Totally. I have been resisting the urge to put in cannons and troops until it is a little further along...but that is becoming an increasingly difficult urge to resist. A couple more weeks and then maybe I'll dress it up for some pictures as it won't be totally completed for a long long long time. It does take patience. The only time I have had more than three plates next to one another was for the first pictures. I tend to have three sections out at a time while I am working and the rest are stored in big containers to keep the dust off. The Citadel sits on three seperate plates. The ground floor has some open guard areas and the main tunnel/passage leading into the fort. Beyond the main gate is another iron gate that must be raised to admit passage. The second floor of the citadel houses two guns (left and to the right). The center is my very large (and empty) office. The third floor of the citadel is my personal quarters (also large and empty). On the back side ground level you can see a longer building that is for officers. On the second floor to the left you can see where the short brick wall is open. That connects to a walkway that cuts across the fort to the other side. From that walkway you would look down into the very center of the fort on one side and the large prison on the other which boasts 10 jail cells of various sizes and two pits plus a jail courtyard. Thats all done. The five main batteries are all constructed. Four at the courners and one in the center across from the citadel which has an elaborite central staircase. The main ramp was done and can be seen in the first photos. The small building on the ground floor to the right of the citadel (with the gate and doors on the side) is the treasury. There are also stables. The interior os the five batteries will serve as barracks, magazine, armory, messhall and perhaps a small chapel. Probably hard for you to imagine right (though it is burned into my mind) now but the next WIP photos will show all these structures minus their interiors and dressings. I can't wait to lay it all out as I have not seen it together in such a completed state.

Nice Building. I like the design and the surrounding scene. I do have to ask what the story is behind the apperance of Governor Broadside. While I always enjoy seeing him in a MOC I must admit he looks a little out of place so I figured there must be a back story?

My first castle attempt in 15 years :)
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Minifig Lecturer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think it looks great. Certainly WAY better than anything Playmobile has! I hope you finish it! -
Any fort in the Redcoat cause is great. Nice job. I like the thick red stripe you have at the top of the walls. It looks very good in the photos.
