Nice scene. Your figures are exceptional. The amount of detail you have put into each one is just outstanding!

Thanks for the offer. So far I have heard back from everyone on my team except one person and they all want to continue in round 2. If he doesn't respond in the next couple days I will PM you and ask that you fill in but I will be surprised if he isn't available as he is usually a pretty active builder so we'll just have to wait and see. You did a great job in round 1 and any team I am sure would love to have you. The winning team captains can ask anyone they want to to fill in for any vacancies that have opened up on their teams for round 2.

Coastal Gates in Zadar, 16th century, Historical MOC
Commodore Hornbricker replied to z_zadar's topic in Pirate MOCs
What a brilliant design. There are too many cool ideas to count. I am partial to those white snakes. Not sure if I have ever seen any before. It's a really amazing MOC! -
It looks great. There is something very fun about the design. I see you have your stairs figured out but another way to go if you wanted to save room would just be to build a door into the rocks. You don't have to show the way up as you are implying that beyond the door is a way up.

I didn't read the entire thread so my appologies if this was suggested but instead of increasing the springs tension power why not increase the weight of the projectile. You might be able to get little tiny lead balls (like for fishing line weights) and cram a few into the brick projectile to give it more umf on impact. You could also just paint the lead ball black. Your range won't be as long but the power at impact should be significantly increased.

I agree I think we need to get the Tournament back on track so I propose (based on all the feedback) That the four remaining teams go again. Two Bluecoat Teams will face one another in one match and one Redcoat and one Bluecoat in another match. Zorro can randomly select who goes against which teams. I would also propose that we open the matches this Saturday the 5th and go for 8 days. Each member of each team will post one entry in this round - no alternating days (but lets try to spread them around so we aren't all waiting to the end or rushing on the first day to post - the back and forth is kinda fun). Work for you Zorro?

Here is my rough draft on the fort's citadel/gatehouse. It is rather large and I am happy with the overall design but I just don't like the red edging pattern so I am going to remove that. It just looks to busy to me. The first photo shows the front view, the second shows the rear which overlooks the center of the fort. The next is a shot of the roofs (almost completed). Finally a side view. The roofs come off and the citadel is modular so each floor can be pulled off to get at the inside (which is quite large). Lots of details to be added yet and I have to fix the red issue. If you look at the previous photos you'll notice the gap on the left side /middle. That is where the Cidael sits (you'd be seeing it from the side view in those first photos - had it been there). The rest of the fort has made great strides, infact the rough build is nearly complete. The details and interiors will take a lot of time just because of the size but my next post should show you what the fort really looks like in its final layout. Let me know what you think so far!

I think you are putting too fine a point on the issue of arms and back color. They make fine Napoleonic troops or British Naval Officers.

Sounds like you had a good birthday!

If that were the case shouldn't the judges also hand pick the final bluecoat players? Like an All-Star Match. But it seems to me like the original players from the redcoat team that won and whatever players from the bluecoat team that wins have earned the right to go forward (with the exception of needed substitutions for absenses). We can always do an All-Star round just for fun after the Tournament is over or for a fun bet like the loosing All-Star Team members have to change their sig fig into the oppossing sides uniform for a month or have an opposing team flag and supporting comment on their signature for a month. That last issue aside for a moment. It looks like we agree on the fact that the three Bluecoat teams are going to face off to select a winner before we have to address the final blue-red show down. It also looks like we will make those minor changes to the rules. So for now I think the three team captains from those blueteams need to talk with their teammebers to see if everyone is availabe and figure out when they will start and finish their little inner conference playoff match.

I'll take a stab at a few options. Here is where we are at. Round 1 is completed and three Bluecoat teams won their matches and one Redcoat Team won its match. Options that have been suggested for next steps: Option 1: The Bluecoats pick from their three teams which one will compete against the remaining Redcoat Team in round two. Option 2: The three Bluecoat teams go head to head against each other with the winning Bluecoat Team going against the remaining Redcoat Team. (my personal favorite) Option 3: We declare the Tournament completed and based on the outcome of round 1 the Bluecoats will have won with a score of 3 to 1. Rule changes that have been suggested. Only one entry per team member (rather than 2). Each team will have 8 days to post all their team entries (no assigned days). We can make some personnel changes to the teams before the next round starts to accomodate absenses, etc.).

I agree. Zorro has asked us to discuss how to proceed in the Tournament topic thread that is pinned on top of the discussion page. So let's do that. Tournament thread -
Pictorial Review - 6267 - Lagoon Lockup

Very well constructed review. I love all those little classic pirate sets. Thanks -
Great MOC! Your customs are always so fantastic to look at. Your our Classic-Pirate Lego eye candy creator! Thanks for the cameo. I sure make a tasty target sitting on my trusty mount One of these days Zorro is going to have to arrange for a guest lecturer on the war of 1812. I am an American and I always thought the Brits one that one...though it would probably be better classified as a raid than a war.

Just curious if our ambassador has heard if/when we might see any new pirate sets? -
Review: 852751 Pirates Chess Set
Commodore Hornbricker replied to einsteinonthebeach's topic in LEGO Pirates
Very nice review. I haven't seen or heard anything about this until now. I certainly haven't seen one in any of the local Lego stores but if I do I'll have to pick on up. I wonder if we'll be seeing or hearing anything about new real sets anytime soon. I am thinking these games and the advent calendar might be it until after Christmas. -
RedCoat vs BlueCoat discussion thread
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Captain Cannon's topic in Pirate MOCs
Lot's of good ideas have been thrown out and I don't have any particular favorite myself so since we do know how round 1 turned out why don't we leave either a new round option or conclussion of the tournament up to our trusted tournament moderator. We'll move forward with his direction. I think we need to either wrap it up or get started on the next phase. -

That sounds good to me. I am game to keep going. Or we could pile everyone willing to play into just one team on each side and have a won entry per player final show down - eight days (doesn't matter if the teams are of equal size) More glory for the outnumbered team should they win! -
Captain Morgan: Scourge of the Pond

Simply perfection! Great find. -
I think the water looks great. It is exactely like what you see when the Bay is choppy. I was wondering what it would look like with some of the emerald greens wedges mixed in? That has to be the prettiest prison I have ever seen. I hope the pirate doesn't get teased too much for being imprisioned in something so adorable

RedCoat vs BlueCoat discussion thread
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Captain Cannon's topic in Pirate MOCs
WOW...That's a serious but kicking. My congratulations to the victorious Bluecoat Teams and the members of my own winning Redcoat Team! Thank you to all who participated thus far! We do however have the makings for a second round (sudden death) since one Redcoat team made it through. The way it would work is the Bluecoats would have to nominate which one of their three winning teams would represent them in round two and then they would face the remaining Redcoat team. We could agree to make the teams larger to bring back a few of the more dedicated players from lossing teams or we could stick with the original team members of four (we probably will have to make a personel change or two to accomidate absences). If we embarck on the second round I think we should change the rules just slightly to give each team 10 days to post there two creations each per member rather than have assigned days (that seemed to be the source of a lot of confussion and increased difficulties with specific absences). This howver could lead to future rounds if the redcoats won as they'd have to face on of the two remaining winning Bluecoats teams ...and so on until eaither all the Bluecoats or the last redcoat team is eliminated.... Or if people would prefer we could declare the tournament over and negotiate a cesation of hostilities. In that event we can open up a thread so the full membership can vote on one MVP from each side. What's the plreasure of the participants and judges? -
That looks great. Now you just need to build Elba!
