7020 Army of Vikings with Heavy Artillery Wagon
Commodore Hornbricker replied to mikey's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I thought all the Viking sets had some good parts selection and the minifigures and their shields were a very welcome addition to my collection. I didn't keep any of those sets together long but their parts and colors always come in handy! -
That's a formidable looking pirate ship. That poor little Imperial Flag Ship doesn't stand a chance! I agree even a small tumblehome would be a wonderful addition. In any event she is a very nice ship.

Nice MOC. I also like the color and design. I think you could probably add some more detail to the meeting room to give it a little life but other than that it is great.

That's a great MOC. I love the color scheme. Very clean. The windows are terrific. The construction netting (I assume that's what that is) bring a sense of life and action to the building. It reminds me very much of Wallace and Gromit.

Modular Building 10211 Grand Emporium
Commodore Hornbricker replied to legomilk's topic in LEGO Town
Very cool news. Thanks! The list of sets I am waiting for seems to be getting longer and longer. A new corner CC style building will be high up on my list.- 823 replies

Great pictures. Cool event. Looks like you had lots and lots of amazing creations to look at.

That is just amazing. I don't think I have ever seen that many blue baseplates all in one layout. Very cool to see!

I hadn't seen the old ship before. Big improvement with the color change. I can't wait to see it all finished. Seems like large ships are coming out of the woodwork right now!

WIP: Superbe, a French 80 gun Ship of the Line
Commodore Hornbricker replied to BrickPerfection's topic in Pirate MOCs
Wow. That is a huge ship and you seem to be flying through it. I will definately be following your project. I like the elongated gunmetal cannon as well. Good luck on this large project. -
For a kid the world is as simple as pirates (kids) vs. soldiers (adults). The world is not so simple for adults. I'd join forces with an islander to kill a pirate, then join a pirate to kill a bluecoat, and then join a bluecoat to kill a greencoat and then join a greencoat to get rid of all the blackcoats that super is creating! It more like lots of shades of gray

MOC: Castle New Rock
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Matija Grguric's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Amazing! The scale and height of the cliffs is tremendous. The castle has a wonder design. I don't know if I would want to sleep in the little wooden room hanging off the bottom but it sure looks cool. -
Big castles are just a lot of fun to look at and your's is no exception! The windmill is great and I really like the black roof lines. Great job. I am sure people will love seeing it on display.

MOC Pirate Ship: The Black Heart Galleon
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Angel's topic in Pirate MOCs
She is big, menacing, a little unconventional and everything I want from a good old fashioned pirate ship! Well done. Ooops. Bummer. At least she died in action. -
Excellently done. This set looks wonderful all grown up! It looks great along side the other modular buildings. I did a similar thing I while back with the Town Hall from the Town plan set. It fun to expand the smaller buildings to the CC standard scale.

Color of Pirate-Themed Pieces
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Francis Marion's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think you can mix them in certain situations like rocks near water can be darker because they are wet or if you have a good design you can have a vien of a little light or dark gray. I'd love to see a hill done in tans and browns with some gray rocks in it. I've been too chicken to attempt it myself but its on my list of things to play around with. -
That is really cool. The lettuce trees and that little knight on horseback are my favorite touches. The more you look the more detail appears. Some of it is almost like an illusion. Excellent! Very impressive.

Ahhh. You have put your fantastic church into another fantistic setting. I love the rounds technic you've used. One day I am going to have to try a cottage or something using this approach. As always...Truely spectacular!

The Revolution Episode 1
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Emperor Claudius Rome's topic in Pirate MOCs
Very nice film. Shame. I miss that kid. -
Funny. I am guessing that glass lamp thing would also make a nice weapon but please remember this is domestic violence awareness month.

What is Your Favorite Modular Building?
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Legoliner Pilot's topic in LEGO Town
Good poll. Tough answer. I went with Green Grocer. I love that set but hey I love all three of these modular buildings. I hope that over the years we get lots and lots more of these. One new one a year would be fantastic! -
Very cool design. What blue is the main building?

I actually *gasp* like short-lived themes!
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Batbrick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For me the answer is both. When it comes to my beloved pirates I want them around forever...along with town and castle. After that I am glad there are other themes that come and go because yes it does lead to diversity. I am very excited fot the upcomming Prince of Persia sets (I know nothing about the story line) because it looks like we are going to get some very special new pieces. -
Surprise Find! Not mine: Turku Castle in Lego
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Teddy's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great find. Its very well built. You have to love round walls and round roofs...seriously...you have to! It just needs a little more achitectural detail to make it a little more interesting.
