All Hail the Dwarven Lords!
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Hound Knight's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Cool. Are you going through a Lord of the Rings phase. I am a huge fan. You'll have to change your name to HoundStrider -
Returning to lego after a massive deal
Commodore Hornbricker replied to diggitydug's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh man you're hooked! Batman...one day probablly as I think those movies will just keep comming back over and over but not likely anytime in the next few years. I put my kids legos in medium size clear rubbermaid type bin. Kids can't keep things sorted very well so you are better off dumping it all into one bin for them as that's how it'll end up anyway. Remind yourself of the following things.... 1. slow and steady wins the race 2. it is not possible to own all the Lego on Earth (I am not selling mine ) 3. be honest with your wife 4. set a budget and stick to it 5. Use what you have to BUILD MOC's or sets (you may find you don't need more random parts but rather a lot of one specific part or color for something you want to build). In that case Bricklink is your cheapest bet unless you have a Lego store near you with Pick A Brick wall. Good luck -
Congratulations! 10years makes you feel all grown up and respectable. My wife and I celebrated our 10 year last month. Keep on enjoying eachother!

Very nice! The one in the middle is by far my favorite. Very menacing.

Question about cannons in 2009 Pirate Sets
Commodore Hornbricker replied to General's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yes. Thank goodness! It really sucked when they stopped producing shooting cannons in the US. It was near the top of my list of reasons to hate lawyers for a long time. I've got three cats....hmmm. I think I'd rather bounce a well placed 1 x 1 off one of those lawyers. -
Awesome! You have the start of an amazing theme. I love the MOC. The colors and design and the various elements work so well together. You really created something that seems as if it could really have been produced by Lego.

REVIEW: 6299 Pirates Advent Calendar 2009
Commodore Hornbricker replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Pirates
Oh great now Christmas is ruined...Thanks a lot. I read the spoiler warning but it just didn't take. Those things are as useless as the Surgeon General's warnings! Great review! I finally got one (thanks Dr. Steve for the tip on a good source at a fair price) despite the fact that Lego totally neglects us Americans and we never get anything good from Lego. If you don't think this set is OUTSTANDING then either you hate Christmas or you hate Lego Pirates! -
I don't often comment on space MOC's but you did a great job the color scheme is totally unique and works great and those over developed guns are fantastic.

Great review. This is the one theme I missed that I would most love to add to my collection. Great find. Great review. You've made me want them even more! Thanks -
Old collector looking to get back into it
Commodore Hornbricker replied to MercenaryOne's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Bricklink is the best. Also on the Lego website they have a pick a brick section with lots of different elements you can order. -
Nice. I like the crates or shelves on the stand.

The Robbers Tower -castle Moc
Commodore Hornbricker replied to ProducePrincess's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It looks great. The interiors are especially nice. It could possibly have a little more detail on the outside of the tower. Overall its great. -
Typical SlyOwl Awesomeness! The overall scale and design a perfect. The snow is just a great touch to the setting. The tree is awesome to bad you couldn't do that design in white! The fence is also very cool. I've always liked those flipper shingles. How do you do them? Are there upside down plates underneath? I also really like how you used those video tape tiles at the top of the tower for ornimentation. That is just brilliant!

Old sets after the introduction of new sets
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Enigma-85's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Many sets are produced for more than one year. Sometimes a set can surprise you and blink out in an even shorter time. Most sets seem to be around for about 2 years. A few special sets go longer. I try to prioritize what I want most but you don't have to worry about running out and buying new sets the minute they become available...but you will! -
Very nice lively port. Lots of good colors and details throughout. I think if you tiled the main streets in the middle it might draw out the details and the actions better. Looks great though.

Cool but I want to see it lite up. It's just a tease to have the bulb in there and not see it lite. Great build. Nice modular design.

What is your favorite part of a build?
Commodore Hornbricker replied to MrTools's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The 20 - 70% phase. After you get it off the ground and the vision has really solidified and it has taken shape but you are still working out the details and the difficult parts in your head and with small tests. -
Looks great in those colors. Nice job.
