Yeah, I remember the days of getting mass quantities of brown Bohrok and Pohatu for $3 in the bargain bins. It's no wonder they deep-sixed brown. Still, there's TONS of brown in System sets, so don't confine yourselves to JUST getting Bionicle sets.

Lol. What a spontaneous first post. Then again, so spontaneous that I have no fuckin' idea who or what they're talking about lol. My Walmart FINALLY got new sets in. The Pohatu sets were already gone, but I got his little orange buddy. It's not the most complex build, but it's downright sexy compared to what the Metrutoran were. I think I like the little turd as much as I do Pohatu, which is weird, because none of the other current sets have caught my eye at all. It would seem I'm not alone, as even though Pohatu was sold out, there was buttloads of everyone else. Same thing with the smaller sets... orange. Gone. Go figure?

Not like this isn't a complete failure, but it would've at least been interesting if they'd simply added some sort of fanned-out, triangular type piece as a tail. What is the part towards the back that's yellow and has a piston?

Help choose a Lego Star Wars 10th annaversiry set (2009)
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Legoman's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'd like a better Hoth set... larger, complete with a few Wampas (from the unused scene during their escape), a few snowtroopers with those big battery guns during the invasion, one or two Hoth rebels, Luke, Leia, Han, and a ship or two. Of course specific areas would be the control room, a medical lab and the docking bay... bonus points if it were designed for easy expansion to harbor the Millenium falcon set(s) that came before. It'd be more of a diorama, with PLENTY of trans-clear and trans-blue elements mixed over top the white bricks... to give it a "frozen" feel but not be completely white or completely trans. OH YEAH... It NEEDS to have a COMPLETELY trans-light blue Obi Wan kenobi figure... and perhaps 2 Taun Tauns. As a play feature, moving docking bay doors and or a breakaway "roof" that caves in on the control room. Here's a good question... what kind of part counts to System sets retailing for $150 usually get? -
WHAT. in. the. HELL did they DO to that beautiful piece?!? Holy shit, that went totally under my radar! The old type is so useful! Barrels to guns on mecha, especially. I'm in shock, really. I totally missed that they'd done this. X-O Evil, I tell you. EVIL. Wow. This is actually pretty freaking terrible... or it will be if Bricklink's supply ever runs out. :-( Anyway, I still think that more than even Galidor, that "Z'Nap" was the worst idea Lego had. --It was a direct attempt to rip off K'Nex. I mean come on, the names are nearly identical! Isn't this what had people mad about megablocks and other Lego clones? And here they were... doing the same thing. --The beams ended in asymmetrical teeth... mushy enough to not hold some axles right yet strong enough to damage OTHER Lego parts you may've tried to combine with them. --The beams, though covered in Technic friction holes, weren't even aligned in a straight line that one could attach a normal Technic beam to it... reason being, the holes were spaced at the wrong distances! Bleargh. I have to give credit where credit's due, for Znap parts HAVE helped me out from time to time in making some of my mocs... eh... It's "your", dammit! YOUR! X-O

I thought the first (good) Lego click joints debuted in the Technic Super Battledroid set. Meh... maybe my chronological memory is failing me. I'm guessing that Exo Force mechs probably start out nice n' detailed n' poseable on the design room tables, but get cut down like a tree when the guys in the budget department get done with it. And let me think that story's real, for if it turns out it isn't: A. The set designers blow. B. They purposely make things just a little bit crappy so you need to buy Bionicle sets for their super-posing joints to customize them into normalcy.

He was ok in "10 things I hate about you"... his Brokeback Mountain acting was... ok. Meh for me, but my wife sure is sad. :-|

I so miss those stupid, little McToran... Sure, people should have been hung for that non-symmetrical hand job they were given, but the "universal" hand and all the other parts were mocing GOLD. I bought expensive sets in stores just to enhance the runty little guys I got for free in my Happy Meals. Nowadays, they just come with crappy 1 or 2 piece figures that just stand there. V__V

YES. I liked the very first Bionicle lids because, well, you could use them in mocs. They had connection points (although a bit loose in their execution). Failing THAT, at LEAST have the canisters be able to stack one on top the other! They're non-biodegradable hunks of plastic anyway, so make them able to DO something... LEGO-ey. I'm sure they have some weird business philosophy behind not making canisters able to stack, but whatever it is, it's probably REALLY flawed in it's logic. In the early Bionicle days, I'd buy sometimes 10 of the same-colored canister guy. Inevitably my Lego room (and the rest of the house) was a WASTELAND of Bionicle containers. At one point, I realized I'd subconsciously stopped buying canisters in part because I didn't want more clutter to throw out. I can say with 100% certainty that had I been able to stack them, say, 5 canisters high... I'd have a wall coated in them. True, the newer packaging might jump off the shelf at you, but in time, the adverse affect will be that consumer possibly not wanting to deal with them. Nah, they're far from the worst. They are what they're supposed to be... action figures. Unfortunately, they're kinda' poopy as much more than that. These sets are still a couple steps up from retarded spiders with even more retarded spinners flying off their backs. >__< And they're WAY better than those hollowed-out monstrosities that were the Metrutorans. I mean cripes, they were just a shell with some limbs shooting off in weird directions. :-X

Well Hinky, if you never get a Lego-lookin' Strider, there's always the action figure that came with Spiderman in a Marvel vs. Capcom 2-pack from a few years ago.
-
That may be, but most of those characters were in the first, as this gif I made from rips shows: The only guys I think who are new in the Block Block set is the one in white cloth, and perhaps the one chinese girl who's eating her hair. (?!?) As I recall, the 3 chicks that attacked were identical, merely color palette swaps of each other.
-
The Mahri frame thing, especially when you have two, becomes a pretty useful tool for mocing. Canisters are all over the Bionicle toy landscape... it was nice seeing something different. Unless you're a first time buyer and only have a few parts / no canisters... why?
-
I hope the lids on the canisters change. I'm all for a cool mask part atop the can, but not with an unfortunate lip going around it on the sides. Kinda' kills it's usefulness. And it doesn't have to.

The set in question is based on the old Capcom hack n' slash game "Strider" from the very late 80's... you know, back before the phenomenon of street fighting fighting games. :-P Here's a bunch of sprites I ripped from it a long time ago... sadly some of the ONLY remaining classic arcade sprites I managed to save of mine before a very large hard drive crashed. :'-( http://www.maj.com/gallery/JINZONINGEN73/J...riderproto1.bmp Those aren't dancing girls in that set... they were these mean chinese mother dogs that were later on in the game, doing all sorts of crazy kung fu jumps at poor Strider to knock him off of floating platform vehicles. I DID have all their sprites ripped, but alas, that too was lost in the crash. Now, all I have are some chicks from the Amazon level (that I never got around to cleaning up): http://www.maj.com/gallery/JINZONINGEN73/J...strider2051.png

Well, being aquatic, it's not too crazy I guess. Think of a fish, or Gyarados from Pokemon. Oh yeah, he does: HEY, WAITAMINNIT!

LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Neat stuff! Though... why a square piece as the suction cup instead of a 1x1 round? -
::shakes head in disgust:: Guys. The clear, 100% most appropriate response to this topic should have been no response from anyone. Where's your senses of deductive humor? Shameful... shameful... *sad*

*wub* I swear, upon getting an inheritance and or winning the lottery... raiding Bricklink and running a classic 9V train at eye level all through my freaking house is right there at the top of the list. Not a joke.

It was something more complex, like "Lego connective system module of potential expansion bricks". But, just to piss'em off, I call them Legos. I'll add a pointless apostrophe in if I'm really trying to be a rat bastard after someone tries to correct me. :-D

I have to admit that even I'm bored with the Riot feet, but they're just so darn nice and skinny. And the way you use them often with thick upper legs looks very animalistic and cool. you could probably get away with adding ankle armor on the front by having it connect from the friction hole on the back of the foot, or even tightly gripped around the bottom of the foot's elevated arch. This is, as usual, a pretty cool moc with plenty of unorthodox connections. The one-coloredness is neat. Even better, a different colored armor can be added on, as if this were just it's naked body. Unfortunately that makes me think it looks unfinished, like there should be bright twigs of some sort shooting off it's head and such. Which is annoying, because the moc's already so much. Props on not having the inner color intrude to the exterior. That neck is just so: http://www.neoguyver.com/pages/characters/...legen/index.php

While it does seem like a tidal wave crashed into our shores, the fact is, they're probably here to stay. And since they're here, they can't be too stupid, can they? Treat'em with respect. They're Eurobrickers now. And to the new guys... Likewise, what Darth said a few posts above. Uh... uh... no! Blasphemous child! No, It's just server problems! It's our... our provider! Yeah! Not programming issues at all! -BZ member since November 2001, with many wasted man hours staring at bubble-wrap and login screens while being told it must be my settings lol. ... ...hmm... I think I need to cool it down too, however big a slap in the face truth that was.

I'm really liking the hand configuration on the King Gojulas / Death Saurer one. Man... it looks just like the original GIANT set if you blink fast enough.
-
But Nascar is insanely boring. :-D It'd just be a few identical body design with TONS of advertising stickers all over them.
