Every gamer should recognise this ...

Let's not forget Final Garfield 7. EDIT: Whoops! Actually, that was from Final Fantasy 6 (Final Fantasy 3, in the States). -
I find it weird that Cartoon Network skipped playing the "total meltdown" one (episode 5) by instead jumping from 4 (home is where the spark is) to 6 (blast from the past) first. Rumor is it was too violent and had to be hacked up a bit... but who really knows the reason. Episode listing: 1 "Transform and Roll Out! Part One" December 26, 2007 2 "Transform and Roll Out! Part Two" December 26, 2007 3 "Transform and Roll Out! Part Three" December 26, 2007 4 "Home Is Where the Spark Is" January 5, 2008 5 "Total Meltdown" 6 "Blast From the Past" January 12, 2008 7 "Thrill of the Hunt" 8 "Nanosec" 9 "Along Came a Spider" 10 "Sound and Fury" 11 "Lost and Found" 12 "Survival of the Fittest" 13 "Headmaster" 14 "Nature Calls" 15 "Megatron Rising, Part One" 16 "Megatron Rising, Part Two" 17 "The Elite Guard" 18 "Return of the Headmaster" 19 "Mission Accomplished" 20 "Garbage In, Garbage Out" 21 "Velocity" 22 "Rise of the Constructicons" 23 "A Fistful of Energon" 24 "S.U.V. - Society of Ultimate Villainy" 25 "Autoboot Camp" 26 "Black Friday" 27 "Sari, No One's Home" 28 "A Bridge Too Close, Part One" 29 "A Bridge Too Close, Part Two"

Soulcalibur IV to feature vader and yoda!!!
JINZONINGEN73 replied to mutley777's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I'm a sucker for games that let you customize your characters. Even if it didn't have Vader, the custom function is enough to make me take a second look at possibly getting a PS3. I was pretty impressed with the youtube videos people made with Soul Calibur 3... there were pretty convincing creations of Castlevania : Symphony of the Night characters. -
He's not unique, he's Frankensteined. Ok, there's jets, so he probably should be streamlined. But he's wearing air-resistant SNOW SHOES. And the blade dealie on his arm or the launcher can't be helpin' matters. Aside from the neat mask... he's just kind of "there". Wonky set design aside, calling him Tahu is just that extra push over the cliff.
-
Where the rockets are placed is corny. They might be proto pics, but the Tahu one is MOST clear. The thing on his one hand looks ridiculous and slapped on. For being year 2008 of a line that came out in 2001... it should be just so much better. Nah, that's the prototype Tahu Nuva from way back. He's just sayin' that they tend to change somewhat from proto to production model. I never did. The armor and weapons were nice (at first), but their masks had turned to blobs of goo while the majority of their legs were replaced with moc-worthless, hollowed-out bellbottoms. The addition of "real", undeniable weapons was good, but at this late point in time, it's become mundane. It's like the same parts but with a different curve. If 2001 had too many tools, all these later sets have too many damn swords. As for helicopter blades... Bionicle's already drowning in them. Overkill. That's the word I'm lookin' for... overkill. Now you're talkin' my language. The Nuva masks were butt-fugly. In comparison, yes, the new ones are definitely better... I'm not sure where you're seeing Tahu in there though. I always liked his octopus ("tako", in japanese) mouth. The lines on the sides of his mask looked like they represented arms, the middle was the mouth, and the smooth dome head finished it off.

Pics of the Agents Line
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That chainsaw arm, if that's what it is, better god damn be reversible. I hate having asymmetrical stuff in my Lego building fun. Looks like a fun line for kids... though it's severely lacking in color. -
nausicaa (hayao miyazaki) minifig
JINZONINGEN73 replied to nausicaakro's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Anything honoring Hayao Miyazaki and or Studio Ghibli is good in my book. You might want to look into bricklinking yourself one of the less descript Lego cats. With a tiny bit of putty, you can add ears to it and make it's tail bushy like her pet in the anime has. Ohmu should be easy to do in Lego, now that I think about it. http://flickr.com/photos/11579617@N02/1359756372/ http://flickr.com/photos/11579617@N02/1359...in/photostream/ -
One of the best damn movies ever, even if the sequels blew. I never really know how to comment on mocs like these. They're visually appealing, but I have a hard time discerning where repetitive patterns end and skill in assembling them kicks in. One thing I don't like is the Bohrok eyes on top that are pointing backwards. The foot on the bottom however is a smart idea for posing, and often missing on such creations.

Whoof. This is a tall question. I liked the electronics and complex builds of the 2001 Rahi, the great ground-floor potential of the 2001 Toa, the McDonalds premiums that actually had cool parts to use of 2001... but there's a superiority too in the later guys that had moving knees and elbows. As was said, having different body types amongst the Barraki and Mahri was most welcome. Wait, 2001 had mask packs too. Ok, 2001. *wub* I'm thinking the next time I'll truly "love" a Bionicle line is when everybody's masks are available in an assload of different colors WITHOUT having to buy expensive sets just to get 1 exclusive color. Hell with that! When people have coloring choices, it makes them WANT to moc. (buy more sets)

I, like a few others here, had these come to mind at first sight of these upcoming sets: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=154688 My problem with these is that they're still not "solid" looking. I mean, they're better than they've been some of the time, but they're still no: It can hardly be denied that this design here is both awesome and sexily, unmistakably female. Still... these are far from the worst sets Bionicle's seen. Right now, none look very worthy of purchase. Maybe larger pics will reveal some cool new parts that are useful to mocing. The pics might be small, but they already show clearly pretty much everything relevant. I'm not diggin' Tahu's new mask either. I mean, I KNEW it'd be different... but come on. We're right back to taking-a-shit-on-the-identifying-characteristics again. MAKE the mask different. We understand. But not THAT different.

I'm there on torrent sites looking for the next episode, but only finding episode 4. DUH... the first 3 are what was spliced to make the movie lol. I really don't think sometimes... :D Finally got around to finding / buying Meantime. Pretty damn cool, though he doesn't fit around my wrist. Also, his package art shows his feet transformed wrong lol. I'd like to see one of those regular fan customization outfits make an extender section to bridge the gap for adult wrists... and it could transform into a weapon for him!

Don't you dare try to downplay this. Your inner child is crying, feelings of guilt riddling it's body with stab wounds that will never heal. lol Keep up your shenanigans and you'll be subjected to the COMFY PILLOW! It's a reward system on messageboards for... for uh... Well, you know how your mom puts a gold star sticker on the calendar every time you don't wet the bed? ... ... Bleh. It's too silly to discuss. I'll lose brain cells if further explanation is thought about. Well, my Walmart only has 4 single Mahri canisters sitting on the shelf, with one or two of all the large boxed sets reduced beneath them. There's not even shelf tags indicating there'll be new product coming in anytime soon. It'll probably be this way for the next month. Or two. >__< I'd kill to have a Toys R Us or something out here.
-
PMs. PRIVATE messages. Actually, it doesn't matter if it was done on the boards, done in PMs, (or even in IMs, if they think you used their site to obtain contact with the member). :-X Just sayin'. Unless of course their policy's recently changed or something. Well, as usual there's some good parts on these new sets. But more than usual, making them almost worthy of purchase. The big panel fairings are good for lower waist armor on giant mechs. The all-trans head elements are good for all-trans mocs (goddamit, they better be the fluorescent UV blacklight reactive colors!), and the head spines look like they'll be pretty versatile, as well as the new ball and socket limbs. Potential, potential... ...but not quite enough to produce slobber. They're getting better though, DEFINITELY.

Yeah, you might not be trying to piss us off, but you have to know you are by now. If you're not, I do understand why you might be acting like such a cornball with this. You have something, you're not supposed to show it, and you want to REALLY badly. I had the first 2 Bionicle movies LONG before others did. I'd have LOVED to torrent them up and serve them hot to every fan who had the ability to download them. Unfortunately, it would've been pretty damn irresponsible and likely cost Lego a bit of money (especially since one was MONTHS and MONTHS before release date). So, I compromised, creating a few gif images just to get people juiced up and hungry for the real thing. And that's pretty much what you did... only you're acting like a total virgin by dangling it in our faces. :-D Now, you were told by your source not to post them... but then you did. Do they not know you did this? I mean... you kinda' already broke their trust and credibility too. What I'm asking is, who haven't you pissed off yet? Is anyone left? lol Just calm down a little. Before you know it, better images will be out and you'll be sitting there wondering why you acted all kookoo towards us. Life moves on... let's all stop talking asking for these vaporized pics. :-) (Unless any of you saved them to your hard drive... barf'em up so we can look at'em!) ::removes training wheels off your bike:: *sniff* They g-grow up so fast. Welcome to the non-child safe Lego forum of no begging like a dog for exclusive table scraps that may not even be present! Uh oh... you might've just signed the death warrant for your account there lol. Not our job to moderate their site. We're not BZ and don't believe in what they believe. Prototype pics AHOY! :-D

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
JINZONINGEN73 replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I was pleased to see that the christmas episode wasn't as cookie-cutter as the other ones. Hopefully this also means that the episodes in the new series won't all correlate with the previous season's episodes. The "patternization" of the first 3 seasons really blew, especially since they had to FORCE the Daleks into a sub-par 2-parter just because the Cyberman did in season 2, and the other Daleks in season 1. Also hopefully, they'll drop the Bad Wolf, Torchwood, Mr.Saxon pattern of foreshadowing the first 3 seasons were subjected to. It seemed really juvenile to me. Anyway, I like this episode. The ending wasn't all that happy, and despite it being about the Titanic, you find it wasn't a crappy scifi cliche' of having YOUR main characters barge in to retell a widely known event in history. I guess what I'm saying is, I liked the non-predictability of it all. Here's to hoping the 4th season follows suit. -
Or, you know... utorrent. *wub* Lol... my mom sent me what she thought was Lego in a box of stuff for Christmas. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=291970 Yeah, a 2003, Built to Rule Smokescreen. Almost horrendous as the figure is that I see just how BAD the macro is on my Samsung Digimax versus my now dead Olympus D340R from back in 1999. Sorry about the shittiness. And they don't even transorm OR use all the parts in either mode! Not even the freaking minicon!!! This is the best I could make this set look, period:
-
That animated movie blew the HELL out of the recent movie. A different continuity, a different art style, a drastically different Megatron... just like the movie. BUT it didn't blow. AND... it was ridiculously honorable in it's nods to G1 and Beast Wars. You had Starscream backstabbing Megatron so that he was F'ed up for 50 years. Blackarachnia in the Transmetal 2 form, Cybertron robot modes that don't freaking look like their earth modes as well as Cybertron vehicle modes VERY reminiscent of the ones seen in G1. Visual rendition of "The Great War", complete with the G1 guys we know and love running around. The Death of Optimus Prime. And, though unseen, clear evidence that humans were getting killed. I also like the dark storyline regarding the secret of the girl's father. Brilliant stuff. So yeah, I want more. This is what the movie should've been like. There was no need for it to go so insultingly cornball away from the original stuff, as this simple kiddy animation shows. A balance of old and new WAS possible, and this show drives it home with a high-caliber shot to the head. Beautiful, beautiful.

Hands-down, some of the Toa Inika sets I bought. In one case, BOTH of the inner leg socket pieces just cracked completely... upon FIRST INSERTION. Sets with lime or orange have this problem. Very badly made. I have so many of those pieces laying around now. I REALLY should have called Lego for replacements, though sets out in stores over a year later STILL had the same problems with the same pieces. Almost beating this would be X-Pods with 1x1 off-lime bricks. Stack them up in a row... the edges don't match. >__<

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
JINZONINGEN73 replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Ok you Brits... when's the newest episode air today over there? (As in, how many hours from, your post). I need to know when to start searching for it's torrent over here in the USA. X-D Saw that Peter Davidson short... it was a little bit on the megablocks-grabbing, passing of the torch side... but it was nice seeing Doctor #5 again. Lol, aside from him being pudgy, was not his celery EXTREMELY over-sized? I swear I don't remember it being that large lol. -
::opens up box sent from parents:: Let's see... a few pairs of REALLY comfy socks. A cleverly designed hood that can be configured in different ways... 300 BUCKS! Wooh! And a card that says there's LEGO inside. ::digs in box:: Oops, no, it's a Transformers Smokescreen "Built to Rule" set from 2003. Lol, bless her crazy heart. So you see UniqueBuilder, sometimes NO bricks are better than the WRONG bricks. :-D
-
Well, it's the way I determine if a set is worth getting or not really. It might be different for others depending on what's already in their parts bins. For me, it's his special (symmetrical left and right!) forearms, the multi-purpose pincers and you can never go wrong with more of those trans domes. Noone else really has anything interesting for me to add. Alot of tripe parts are in these sets. Still, it's FAR from the worst Bionicle wave ever. At least there's a little variety in appearance and part assortment among the characters. Still, meh... too many junk parts, not enough room to build...

Hahaha... I used to be like you. Back in '91, all my first car had was an AM radio. I hooked many people onto him. But now, being on the internet, I see he's just a tool for the party, capable of lying and intellectual dishonesty. Still ok to listen to now and then, just for a different take on things. But in extremely small measure mind you. Well, new sets are out, and here my Walmart is... nothing. Just a ton of Barraki and some Mahri thrown in for color. Judging from the past, I probably won't see anything in this section of the US until, oh, late February. No doubt brought straight from the stockroom and unpacked into a bargain aisle. :-| On a good note, the only one I still am interested in is Pohatu. :-D
-
I like Zahrn's posability. The trans neon green teeth coming of his chest... those connection points could be used for something more chest-like to hang down, likely System bricks in some configuration. The orange sockets sticking out from his lower legs confuse me. Another case where the connection points could use something better. If the shin guards didn't come down so far (although they look good), then those orange sockets could've been used as a starting point for some large knee protrusions.

What was the last movie you watched?
JINZONINGEN73 replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
"The Man from Earth" Briefly, a college professor, after 20 years at his school, decides to up and leave. Barging in on his moving day, his colleagues ask him what's what. He then entertains them with a story asking "what if a man who does not die or age were to still exist from the caveman days"? ...which turns out to be him. Watch as his fellow eggheads lose their shit with every new piece of world history he destroys for them. It was a good movie, despite my feeling that something or someone "new age" was in on the script (and unfortunately, the word "scientologist" popped up once). But it was still quite entertaining... especially his reference to another like himself (most presumably, Saint Germain). The end was only mildly predictable, but not so that it was annoying and slap-in-the-face. Here's the bad news... it's a bit of an independent movie, so you're probably not going to see it unless you download it. -
::watches:: Well that's a relief. It was good. Felt NOTHING like the 3rd movie... more of a return to the 1st. And it wasn't just a boring franchise christmas special with everyone sitting around in one room doing flasback megablocks or talking about the holidays (due to a rushed production schedule), it felt like watching a mini-movie. It moved pretty fast, but crammed in everything good about Shrek. Everyone got a decent amount of airtime, too. Lol at both scenes of Puss interacting with Shrek and Donkey's babies. :-D If I have the right player, I'll try to rip frames out to make gifs of them. X-D
