  1. If only more folks would listen to your advice. :)
  2. I'm glad pages and pages of this thread are devoted to explaining to those of us that just want a little joy in our lives how wrong we are to love this set and how everything is terrible. Thanks for that.
  3. Being gay is only controversial to bigots. Think about that before posting hate speech again.
  4. It's so tiring seeing people determined to be miserable about the things they supposedly love.
  5. Love the design, love the set. No notes for LEGO, would just prefer they do more CS-inspired sets.
  6. The official pics are out, and nope, it's the baby on the "monitor screen," sleeping with three "Z"s. :)
  7. The pics have hit IG, and it's true. :) But the "measuring device" is nothing new (not in terms of parts, anyway). It's a gray walkie talkie radio with a printed 1x2 tile on it that has what looks like a video screen and controls. I think it's supposed to be like a CS version of a baby monitor. :D It all looks wonderful too.
  8. Ordering another two now, can't pass up the $75 sale! That brings me up to 6 sets. I know, I know, but it's Classic Space we're talking about! Sigh, this is crazy, but I have to...
  9. I love the look of the new set, and I'm a first-gen Classic Space fan that owned the Galaxy Explorer and most of the others, played with them constantly, and see none of this disconnect everyone is spending so much time discussing. The new one is beautiful and works for me.
  10. The "little yellow plastic guy" does in fact represent a real person, and to think otherwise is spectacularly naive if not willfully ignorant.
  11. The shiny aspect of the road plates by virtue of them being tiles is one of the worst parts of this change. It makes city layouts look like they're built on rivers and lakes if you take a picture, with everything reflecting like it's water. The baseplates have a matte finish and allow for photography with no trouble. Just looks so ugly and wrong the new way. Sigh.
  12. Got this in the mail yesterday, looking forward to building this as a post office!
  13. May be the first modular I don't buy. Very sad to see it.
  14. Just went and bought the maximum number of roadplates from the LEGO shop and will be keeping an eye out for other dealers too. This road system is one of the ugliest, worst things I've ever seen them do in 40+ years of being a LEGO fan.
  15. That sounds perfect to me. No reason LEGO should in any way produce sets or work with companies that are involved in military activities. I applaud LEGO's decision, late though it may have been, and hope it does indeed set a precedent. They can come up with other things to make toy versions, and no one is entitled to this or any other set. If you want to reinvigorate your Technic interest, there's plenty out there to enjoy! Have fun!
  16. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-47752/arnoldtblumberg/tri-traveler-travel-reconnaissance-investigation/#comments A great deal of the early CCS technological development work focused on survey equipment, as the great fleet headed out into the galaxy in order to explore strange new…well, you know. This compact, three-person travel machine utilized Yaxxline-fueled hover pods that doubled as landing struts, with the crew taking turns to steer the tiny vehicle or manipulate and monitor the scanning devices mounted on the hover machine’s “roof.” In order to keep things compact and simple, the devices were the same as those operated by CCS personnel in handheld form, and could be removed from the vehicle for further work in the vicinity of a landing location, with all data transmitted back and temporarily stored in the Traveler’s datacore. It’s probably apocryphal, but there are stories of initial testing disasters in which all three pilots attempted to fly forward at the exact same time, flinging people and machinery in every direction. This was one of those “pick a part and see what happens” experiments, in this case based around the awesome hexagonal plate 27255. Also note: Part 24947, the inverted dome, doesn’t currently exist in black (boo), but I left it that color in the render and instructions for aesthetics. The parts list, however, has all three of them in the available yellow, so oh well.
  17. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-47220/arnoldtblumberg/gbogh-long-range-radar-survey-truc-transport-reconnaissance-utility-communication/#comments NOTE: I went nuts on this one. What began as a riff on the Classic Space set, 6841 “Mineral Detector,” turned into a gargantuan project. Enjoy! This gargantuan T.R.U.C. was one of the largest land vehicles ever deployed by the CCS, and its grinding Yaxxline engines heralded its arrival hours before it entered visual range. The elevated pilot command module in the forward position enabled the guiding hand to see above the T.R.U.C.’s two massive articulated sensor discs, while the rotating central control column (often referred to as “the mushroom”) allowed at least two, sometimes three, operators to scan huge tracts of land and communicate over vast distances. The force field walkway stored under the massive chassis allowed for the coming and going of personnel via a back hatch, and there were storage compartments for toolboxes, handheld scopeguns, and a wide array of other tools and equipment. While on board, four passengers and the pilot could stow their airtanks temporarily during transit. It was known colloquially as the “GBOGH,” which stood for “Go Big Or Go Home.”
  18. Ahhh I see, OK! I'll have to try that and see how it looks, it's probably an improvement. :)
  19. Thanks! Which plates do you mean exactly, are you talking about the red/green ones?
  20. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-46392/arnoldtblumberg/ajax-quadwing-rocket/?inventory=1#comments With a flashy retro design sourced from deep inside the Kingdoms of the Merciless One, this bullet-shaped rocket – reminding many of both fish and birds through its shape, color combination, and distinctive plumage-like markings – was also a source of bewilderment for any that saw it. Ajax had no visible entry or exit ports, no obvious armaments or sensor equipment, and no other evidence that it was capable of anything other than flying… and that was clearly something it could do well, given its four stabilizer wings and massive two-stage engine assembly. Within, the captain sat higher than the pilot and passenger, but the interior controls and other details were kept to a bare minimum. This was a vehicle built for speed, with all the style carried on its smooth, bright red exterior. Some felt that any space travelers that boarded an Ajax were especially brave, hurling their bodies into the void.
  21. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-46230/arnoldtblumberg/ll-999-bat-hop-me-mechanisms-electronics-or-maintenance-enhancement/#comments LL-999 BAT HOP M.E. (Mechanisms & Electronics [or] Maintenance & Enhancement) Repair and Support Ship This fast arrow of a ship (colloquially referred to as a “hopper”) has been an omnipresent component of the CCS galactic effort for decades. To this day, it still plays a huge role in maintaining and enhancing all of the mechanisms and electronics that drive the space bases and other ships in the fleet (no one could decide what the “M.E.” officially stood for, so its meaning is interchangeable). Techs that fly the hoppers are usually greeted with relief by fellow colonists, and the pilot’s distinctive dual red toolboxes, as well as the upgraded force-shield blue canopy, quickly became welcome sights – symbols of the skill and swiftness of any hopper tech. A possibly apocryphal story is often told that when arriving at a work site, one particularly popular technician named Phillip would sometimes smile enigmatically and say, “wouldst thou like to live cosmically?” before getting down to the task at hand. NOTE: I was very disappointed when I realized I had accidentally designed this with a canopy piece that wasn’t ever actually produced in trans-yellow. I swapped it for an existing one in trans-light blue, but I threw in a bit of an in-world justification for it; still wish it was trans-yellow.
  22. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-45664/arnoldtblumberg/darkscourge-starburst-gunship/?inventory=1#comments They came without warning; their initial attack on the First Outpost was as devastating as it was surprising. With their swift and fearsome Starburst Gunships, capable of flying and firing in two directions, the creatures known only as the Darkscourge made their evil presence known in the early days of the CCS galactic expansion. Although it lasted for years, the Darkscourge War ended as suddenly as it began; the final battle between the marauders and CCS forces came to a bizarre conclusion when the entire Darkscourge fleet inexplicably vanished in mid-conflict, leaving no trace behind. To this day, their involvement in the Undead Incursion is a mystery, as is their possible connection to the abandoned S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N. [see other MOC] that inspired the familiar repair robots, but may have also been a scout sent to survey the First Outpost before that infamous initial assault. Years after they disappeared, some still wonder…will the Darkscourge ever return?
