Been to the Blue Moon many times. :)

Wow, someone else thought the first thing I thought. :)

In The G2V Podcast that covers all pop culture that I co-host alongside Scott Alan Woodard, we just posted an episode for Halloween all about zombies, and a little past the hour or 1:05 mark, I talk all about the LEGO Zombie minifigure and his history. :) http://www.atbpublishing.com/g2vpodcast/planet-10-1st-galaxy-zombiemania/

I was already sold (I've bought every modular (yes, I also include Market Street, so that one too :) ), but this is just beautiful. A cinema, another corner building, tons of spectacular design touches. Glad I saved all those holiday LEGO gift cards. :D

Earlier in the thread it was said to be March but then someone said they've heard February 1.

Yeah I never got the impression they were anything but present-day with that sort of timeless, yesteryear touch, something that seems perfectly right for LEGO. No reason to think they're strictly taking place anytime special.

Oh that is beautiful, what a wonderful addition to the modular line.

Baltimore Style Magazine - December 2011
arnoldtblumberg replied to arnoldtblumberg's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh I'm talking about the final magazine, that's the first time I saw the piece as written. :) Well, we do what we can. -
I *think* this is the right section for this? So I'm profiled in the December issue of Baltimore's Style magazine as one of six local collectors, and they focused (of course) on my LEGO collection and cityscape. The interview took place in the summer mainly and was very nice, the photo shoot - which amounted to one picture that only shows the city in very little detail (but it's a good pic) - was also pleasant, and I even got follow-up calls from a fact checker. During that call I went over all the specifics they wanted to get right. I specifically explained to them that "LEGOs" is wrong and that the company itself dissuades people from using that euphemism and that it should be "LEGO bricks" or...well, you all know. So guess what? Got my issue in the mail, and it's a sweet article that mainly has a positive tone but that refers *consistently* to my collection as "LEGOS" (they even capitalized the S as if it became part of the brand name). ARGH! On top of that, they refer to my collecting LEGO as "all American," which I suppose might be valid, but since it's a worldwide brand originating in Denmark, that rings a bit hollow and presumptuous. Sigh. What can ya do?

Nearly done, even though I've tried to drag it out a bit by not building all at once. I think the PETS sign technique is very cool, and while it may not be as spectacular as past modulars in terms of innovation, there are plenty of nice little discoveries throughout the build and the results are very attractive. It would be nice in the future if they would start to offer more sets with a smaller price point. Perhaps a single building like one half of this set, closer to Market Street than Pet Shop in price, and with more flexibility to build an ongoing modular street.

My wife just bought me the Pet Shop and the Lighthouse today, so I'm opening the Pet Shop box as we speak...type. :)
-
Well that's kind of what he sells at his site, after all. :)
-
I feel the same way. I was a bit disappointed but that was based on pictures that weren't the best. Seeing the new pics, seeing Jamie's video... ...never mind what I said in the other thread. I'm sold. I was always sold, but now I'm totally sold. :D

Well since they already have the owl pieces in the Potter sets, it just would have been nice. It's LEGO, it didn't have to make perfect sense. :)
-
Yeah, I agree. This is the first time I've felt some genuine disappointment with a modular set. The concept is great, some of the design elements are very nice, but it doesn't have the wow factor of the others at all. Still, it's a very impressive set. Just...something missing I guess. Not off the list of "must have" by any means though. :)
-
If I remember correctly, it was not that any store actually received a copy of the set, but that they had a catalogue or advance info sheet with pictures of the set.
-
That just means there'll be some wild multi-colored MOCing posted soon after this set gets out there. :)
-
I'm fascinated by the house-painting part and wonder if the one module is designed with different colored bricks in the wall to mimic a partially painted wall. It's interesting that they're incorporating an action scene of sorts into this one, and it seems to take it to the next level after the window washer of Grand Emporium. Put all these side by side, and you have a street that looks alive and busy. :)
-
Makes perfect sense, it's all marketing. They're selling toys, after all. :)
-
I think I'd respect them even more if it did! :D And let's not forget monkeys, scorpions, and spiders!
-
And we've also got pigs - again, maybe not major pet shop material - and if they really want to get ambitious, a shop that sells cows and horses! :D
-
Well they're also introducing chickens and goats in the new medieval sets...but those aren't exactly popular pet shop animals. :) A rat/mouse? Froggies? Some brick-built birds? Owls (Harry Potter)?
-
Looks like we're getting close to a revelation here. :)
-
..never mind. I was posting that it was Eric Brok that designed Market Street, then I realized you're probably talking about Bessa. Ignore me. :)

Haven't seen anyone else bring up this possibility, but once I get the time to sort out my city street, I'm going to modify the tram to use the old monorail wheels and set up all my old monorail track. Already tested the chassis pieces and they'll fit the underside nicely with just a minor plate swap.
