  1. Done! Ironic looking back at the very first post, when the only piece of info was that "leaf" was going to be some sort of AR theme. I'm still looking forward to seeing Monkey Kid someday - it sounds like a lot more fun to my tastes than all the licensed themes!
  2. In a troubling time, that fatalistic nonsense brought me a great laugh, so thanks for that. Nothing like a bit of drama to lighten the mood.
  3. This is one theme where I think it's really pointless to pass judgement until we see the entire line, since it could go so many ways. What they've presented so far looks pretty novel and cool to me, though obviously not what AFOLs would want by and large. For now, I'm most worried about just one thing: what's that Mario figure going to look like when he's not turned on? Just blank white (or black) eyes? That'll be creepy as hell and really kill it for displaying.
  4. The Stormtrooper helmet looks like a blocky approximation of a stylised cartoon artwork of a Stormtrooper helmet. Yes it's recognisable, but it's an iconic and proliferated design already, so being recognisable isn't much of an accomplishment. Personally I think this falls into the category of "shapes too difficult for LEGO to pull off within the parameters of an official product so they shouldn't have tried", but great for those who like it.
  5. Wow, for a "first real MOC", you certainly tackled and accomplished something massive! Nice job!
  6. Enough of this talk now (including completely irrelevant talk about Cursed Child). Back to LEGO, and specifically the Harry Potter LEGO that we have reason to believe is being released. Thanks.
  7. CMF aren't produced solely in China anymore anyway, so disruptions in the Chinese factory due to the virus wouldn't really impact the CMF too much more than any other line that uses parts made there, though perhaps CMF still uses a higher percentage. Perhaps the second Wizarding World CMF series was in fact always planned to coincide with Fantastic Beasts 3, since FB3 was originally slated for November 2020. Once the film was pushed a year, LEGO might have been waffling on whether or not to keep the CMF in 2020 or waiting to see if FB3 was truly going to come out in 2021. It appears that WB does have production in place now to make that date, so LEGO could confidently push off the CMF to coincide with it.
  8. As already said above, this discussion is already going on here: I'll lock this topic now.
  9. WOAH! A 5000-piece Dots set?? That's insane!
  10. Overall it's a nice looking series, with a variety of useful parts, some new pieces to like, and a praiseworthy return of desirable historic army-builders. Still, much like the last series there is a lack of recognisable arch-types and iconic new ideas. Robert8 has comprehensively shown that so much is possible, but LEGO continues with a hodge podge of city-ish figures and variations of things they've already done, and therefore I feel it's ok to get nit-picky. Here are my thoughts (just following the order of the picture): Pinata Boy - actually perfect for what it is. Good hat recolour, good new accessory. 5/5 Hip Hop Girl - great figure and I love the new hat-hair, but the accessory is a bit lacking. We've had a lot of boomboxes and I wish she had either a new style like a Beats pill style of boombox, or an additional speaker or something. 4/5 Peapod Suit - I don't understand the accessory choice. The figure is good for what it is. 3.5/5 Knight - the helmet feels over-used at this point. For an existing one, perhaps one of the Nexo Knights helmets in a new colour would have been good. A new sword is a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. 4.5/5 Pirate Woman - while the hat-hair is excellent and the overall figure looks good, as a CMF it's lacking something. An animal friend like a parrot or new colour for the CMF monkey would have put it up a notch. Even though I'll surely get this one - 3.5/5 NASA woman - cool prints but nothing wow 3/5 Llama Costume - if you like the animal costumes, I guess it's perfect? The accessory is lackluster once again though. 3.5/5 Viking - this guy is all around perfect. Awesome new helmet, full complement of accessories, new colour for the beard, dual moulding. 5/5 Red Ranger - I have no interest in this personally, but once again it's something new and perfect for what it is, so 5/5 Nunchuck master - though the body is similar to things we've gotten before, the design motif is nice, the recolour of a fairly new hairpiece if useful, and the nunchuck is also pretty good. 4/5 Olympian - this one doesn't bring much to the table. A nice torso print and that's about it, as I don't think white is a particularly useful spear colour. 2/5 Diver - literally the only good thing here is the turtle, and it irks me when one accessory is the sole reason to buy a figure. Enough divers. 1/5 Green Brick - not the most exciting, but the brick people are fun and provide lots of opportunities for things, plus a more useful colour of an obscure hairpiece. 3.5/5 Keytar Player - this figure looks like a total mishmash. The accessory is again the only desirable aspect. 1/5 Pajama Girl - she's perfect besides for the legs. There's nothing wrong with them per se, but medium or regular legs would have been better to continue the pattern, like the original sleepyhead. What is included is fantastic though. 4.5/5 Drone Guy - again a figure who is just fine, but not recognisable as anything. The accesories are decent though, as are the prints. 3/5
  11. This topic is too dangerous. I love seeing everyone's orders, but they inevitably make me want to place one and every time I do and it arrives, I go "I paid how much for this tiny bag!?"
  12. You can also ignore someone who posts borderline inflammatory remarks, and then he'll have no fuel for his fire. That road was almost going so well. Don't argue with anyone who seems like a troll to you. It makes it worse for everyone. Thanks
  13. Don't be rude, even as a joke. (I don't know if you meant it as a joke, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.)
  14. I don't buy any of these sets anymore, but... at least, unlike other recent Spidey vehicles, that little car works as a little car. Stupid garish colours, sure, but it's just a little buggy that looks decidedly 90s with a few modern pieces.
  15. It's not even just about fan base with Clone Wars - kids love(d) it, and given the reported numbers of signups for Disney+, kids will be watching the new episodes too. Not making any supporting products would be insane on LEGO's part. Insane yes, but surprising? Not really. They started throwing in the towel with animated shows before Clone Wars even went off the air initially. They bothered to switch to Phase II armour but then never made any of the commanders, only Captain Red, for example. Then with Rebels, the initial wave was pretty strong, but after that it was very measly and once again they missed some major characters like Maul and Seventh Sister, and some of the sets weren't very interesting (an A-Wing and Vader's Tie barely had any relation to Rebels really). Finally with Resistance, over-priced and next to nothing. When LEGO doesn't release a whole crew of characters, there feels like no point picking up just the few that they do release. This all becomes a self-fullfilling prophecy. LEGO releases a disappointing offering to begin with, it sells poorly, and then they make even less. It's all speculation still, so I'll wait and see. We could still be pleasantly surprised!
  16. It's not "some members" that have a problem with this - it's our entire site at a site policy level. We don't condone, or allow discussion condoning, the purchase of LEGO clones and rip-offs. Legitimate competitors like Mega, Kreo, those Chinese brands that make Chinese historical stuff etc are one thing, though also don't belong here because we're a LEGO fan site. Products that rip-off LEGO designs for cheap, however, are an absolute no. Now, I don't want to derail this thread, so please carry on. Don't reply to me.
  17. Build/content-wise, the helicopter is pretty good, and seems good value for the money. But boy, do I feel bad for the designers on Marvel Superheroes, especially the graphic designers. LEGO designers are passionate people who tend to want to give the fans the best, but it seems like the budget imposed for new prints is so tight. Sure, they got leg printing in this time, but the face is the heart of a character, and seeing those same faces reused again just stinks. On the leg prints, does the cutoff knee-pad look bother anyone else? That style is so off-putting to me. LEGO used to actually design prints including kneepads that took the print limitations on legs into account. Now it seems they've been in denial for years, as if the designers say "we're going to draw a full knee-pad wherever we want gosh darn it!" while the printer says "LOL NOPE".
  18. Until there's any concrete intel on the nature of this theme, the topic shared by @Lego-Freak is the one to use. I'm closing this now.
  19. Tough for collecting, but good for my wallet . The Clone Wars sets were something that hooked me, but since then I haven't bought any LEGO Star Wars in a long time, a long time. The Mandalorian battle pack might change that, though. I agree any more sets we get will certainly be with the normal style eyes. Maybe LEGO will take the opportunity to finally make at least one new face for the clones!
  20. I, for one, loved and still love the look of the Clone Wars figures, and therefore feel iffy about buying any further Clone Wars sets in the "regular eye" style because the figures wouldn't match my collection. For instance, I loved Rebels and the character of Ahsoka, but I couldn't bring myself to care about tracking down the adult Ahsoka figure because she didn't fit the style. The adult community certainly hates the Clone Wars "big eye" style, and I completely get why, but I just wanted to voice that there is at least one person out there who legitimately loved it!
  21. Nice job, working on the same principle of the Ideas pop-up book! I agree with you that the CMF Elsa hair is much more fitting than the Disney Princess line one, though it's still the wrong colour and should be white. It's unlikely that I'll pick up any of these books just because there are other more important things, but they do look like a lot of fun. I always applaud LEGO for trying a new style that remains LEGO-ish.
  22. That seems naughty
  23. It is a gorgeous set. It really seems like any normal rules about the amount of colour changes and prints allowed in a line are out the window with these sets. I'm so happy that LEGO has taken a good look at how these were handled (at least outside of Asia proper, where distribution seemed fine last year). The Australia and NZ Certified Stores announced ahead that they'd have them in stock on boxing day, including the dinner set from last year, and sure enough they had plenty and stock remained at least through midday, though I wasn't taking any chances and got there at 8am when my store opened. Unlike last year, where you'd be lucky to catch a whiff of the sets in Australia before they disappeared forever. I deliberated about which to buy, and ultimately got the Lion Dance and last year's dinner instead of the market. I do love what the market set has to offer, but I don't really have space to display it and the Lion Dance has more unique minifig prints/parts and a lot of nice stuff. I'm looking forward to finishing it.
  24. Wow! You've achieved so many angles that fit together seemlesly, especially around the chest area, which is no easy feat. The poseability is so good too! Also your photo setup is excellent, and serves the MOC well. Great MOCs need good photos to match.
  25. Such a fun and creative use of those Ninjago pieces. It goes to show that any LEGO piece can have many applications in the right, imaginative hands. Well done!
