  1. Oh, now I've found it. 75038 from 2014. I guess I can't fault them for doing another one six years later, and it seems like they wanted to get Episode III era Obi-Wan and Anakin in this wave along with Ahsoka.
  2. A literal re-release would be like the Taj Mahal or the old Legends sets: exactly the same set released again. The new Final Duel is somewhat different, but like I said in my previous post it still feels like something that could be designed in a month or less by taking the old model and just adding some bits. The whole wave really feels like such an odd aimless mishmash. There are still fairly core parts of the Star Wars universe that have never been done, and yet here we get another Eta-2, another Soulless One which I guarantee no kid cares about or would no what it is, a Final Duel which is due for a new version I guess but is the mostly same as the last one, and a ship from the theme park? What the what? Is this really only the second ever Anakin's yellow Eta-2 though? I thought surely there must be more, but I can't seem to find any on Brickset.
  3. First I'll say flipping heck YES with the Ahsoka and Ahsoka's 501st Clone. I haven't bought a Star Wars set in quite a while now but methinks that's going to change for Ahsoka. My quick thoughts: AAT: yes because of Ahsoka and the clone. Model looks.... fine. Don't get why they're using that obscure battle droid variant if it's final but I have plenty OG battle droids so I don't care. Knights of Ren ship - the Night Buzzard?: Good looking model and glad they didn't go overboard with size for a ship that's of no importance and will never be seen again. They captured it and it's something different, so that's nice. Figures are well done. Grevious' Ship: another well done build. A bit disappointing that it's just an Airborne trooper but that's what the leaks already said, so it's no surprise. Going to be too expensive. Final Duel 2.0: it looks incredibly similar to the last one, like it's phoned in. Maybe it is because they scrapped something else and wanted to fill a gap in the line very quickly? Resistance ITS Transport: what is it? Is it from the Resistance show? The figures look cool and it's nice that it's something different and new, but it means nothing to me personally.
  4. Given those signs, with the independent stores saying estimated July and the big retailers having nada, I'm starting to think we won't see them widely in Australia for a few weeks - which is an extra shame given that all the retailers are running toy sales right now. Now even only two are available for purchase on LEGO.com and the rest are "coming soon". Sounds like another case of LEGO oopsy-ing Australian distribution, though this time they can have Covid as an excuse. Oh well - whenever I do eventually get the sets, it will still be a happy day! My interest isn't diminished by having to wait longer. They'll show up eventually.
  5. Besides reversing studs to have a SNOT back just like the front, which would add complexity, a bunch of parts and probably drive up the price, what could be done really? Personally I think all three brick-built maxifigures so far look awesome and lose very little by having plain anti-studs on the back. The overall value of the set more than makes up for it in my opinion.
  6. I don't know if things have changed, though I bet they have, but it used to be super easy for literally any LEGO store employee to find information months or half a year in advance about almost everything, D2Cs included. I had a friend who was a retail associate at a store back around 2015 and he sent me all kinds of stuff just for private interest, and it was amazing how much he could easily turn up on the backroom computer with no special level of clearance or anything. It was just there if you knew how to look. It wouldn't surprise me if they've changed that now, but that's why for years I'd treat leaks cautiously but at the same time know there was quite a possibility of them being real, since it only would take one store employee telling stuff to a friend and then we get real, legit leaks. Anyway, it's people's prerogative to discuss leaks and hints here, legitimate or not. We do our best to clamp down on fake leakers who post here on Eurobricks, and they're usually easy to spot, but when it's coming from IG or elsewhere it's really up to everyone in the discussion to decide on their legitimacy. Everything always gets revealed in the end, but discussing the leaks out there is part of the hobby itself. When we get duped, we get duped, and move on.
  7. Hey everybody, don't worry about "waz". He was interested in those fake previously-posted rumors because..... he was the guy who posted them! I have a feeling he'll keep trying to come back though. He already has more than once. For now, as if I need to clarify: no 2021 "rumor talk" until there are actual, legit 2021 rumors! "Pretty strong possibility" etc. means nothing. Most of you know that, though. Carry on.
  8. I think it's more likely that there's something on the pants that the body reads and knows to have the relevant abilities when it's in those pants, but that's my guess. Either way it seems like a lot for a DLC when every individual level is also pretty much an expensive DLC. Price aside, my main wonder with this whole theme and concept is: how fun is collecting coins really and how much longevity of play does it have? As a kid I could play Mario games for hours on end until I got a headache from staring at a screen, and I could play with LEGO for hours on end, but waving a thing around that makes noise and gets coins? Forget about it. I'm sure they've playtested it, but LEGO playtests most things, and they don't always get it right.
  9. Don't want to go too off track into region specific talk, but they're all on the AU S@H site when I look with June 1 release date: https://www.lego.com/en-au/themes/harry-potter. In my three years here now I've never seen the big retailers actually know anything about the products they carry, and they're nearly never on the websites in advance. Last wave I found the Clock Tower at a David Jones almost to the day it was supposed to be released, and it wasn't on their website yet as I recall. It was pure luck. I reckon the certified stores will have them on the release date, if you're near one of those. At least before Covid, they were pretty good with release dates. Haven't been since. Now this is probably getting annoying to all of the non-Australians
  10. Australian Lego Fan probably will, and they are due out on June 1 here in Aus - distribution issues notwithstanding. In all likelihood Jang and/or @just2good might import them to the US to review, but that could take a bit of time. While I'm not a YouTube reviewer, I plan to get a few next week if I can find them, if there's anything you want to know in particular.
  11. Doesn't Fudge say it at the Ministry? Or is that what you're saying - it must be the Ministry because of that quote since it doesn't fit anything else.
  12. You know, the only thing that was ever going to matter about a student pack was the torsos, and they delivered the torsos. They could've given the students the classic smiley face and it wouldn't have mattered. Now we can all amass all four house sweaters easily, in equal numbers. People have wanted that for years.
  13. I won't straight up ban somebody, especially someone who is new - but we'll have a chat behind the scenes! This is actually the third of none's topics. We hid the second one. I'll leave this one locked and visible for now.
  14. Yeah I think this can get the big ol' lock until we're ready to launch 2021 topics later this year.
  15. That's me too! But I also love seeing how people are arranging them and setting up something "movie accurate" - which of course has a degree of futility given the inconsistencies in the films. @Ferder's looks both fantastic and easily achievable, and if I had the space (and the Whomping Willow set ) I'd definitely try it out.
  16. Let's keep it to LEGO and Harry Potter please. When there's nothing new to discuss, this isn't the place to start talking about other things. That said, there's always more to talk about with LEGO and HP.
  17. My detailed build and review for the last of the three new Star Wars helmets, 75277 Boba Fett, is now live in the Star Wars forum. The set uses many clever techniques, covered in detail, but it isn't all perfect. Read on for my analysis and let us know what you think - do you agree? Disagree? Ambivalent? 18. Now for what could be considered the pies de resistance - and without a doubt the most colourful - of this first Helmet Collection: Boba Fett! 75277 Boba Fett Helmet | 2020 | 625 Pieces USD $60 | GBP 55 | EUR 60 (variable) | CAD 80 | AUS$ 90 ___________________________ This is one of four review topics for the Helmets Collection: an individual detailed build and review for Boba Fett, Stormtrooper, and TIE Fighter Pilot, and an overview review looking at the whole line including the packaging, all three together, value and the concept in general. These sets were kindly provided by LEGO but all opinions are my own. Now, let's look at that silent stunner, that clumsy tumbler, Boba Fett! __________________________ Bag 1 Right from the start we're treated with some fairly rare parts. The sand green corner plate comes in only two other sets; the sand green 4x4, 1x6 and 1x4 and light grey brick with studs on two sides in four other sets, the sand green 2x4 in six others, the 6x6 in five others, and the yellow 6l bar with stopper in six others as well. I was most intrigued by that yellow bar, having no idea how or why it would be used. Like the others, the inside of the core is hollow. The structure is naturally quite different. At the end of the first bag, this colourful mess has been built, along with the top of the helmet including the trademark ding (put there by Cad Bane of course, for those in the know). I was still perplexed and intrigued by that yellow bar, having no idea what it might be for. Bag 2 One thing that struck me in this bag was the variety of colours of jumper plates. Here we see dark red, flame yellowish orange, and lime green, and white, dark tan and sand green are also included in the set. I've often seen the argument that it's to aid in building, but the four lime green ones included in this bag could just as easily be dark red or flame yellowish orange and it'd make no difference. I'm not complaining, of course; the more colours the merrier. Maybe it's to use up stock. There's also a 3x1 blue jumper in there, which comes in just three other sets. For some reason the technic beams in this set are yellow, while in the others they're light grey. The head is only slightly taller itself than the base, so once it's added the height of the model suddenly doubles. The rest of bag 2 has you build these bits, which all get added to the back. The main section involves some pleasing offset work with 2x4 tiles on jumpers over the dark red grill tiles. There's also nice offsets on the other parts here. Bag 3 Here we see even more delicious sand green, including some parts still rare in that colour like the 1x2 cheese which comes in four other sets, and the macaroni tile which only comes in this set. Now we finally get to the use of that yellow bar, to attach the stripes on the side of the helmet! The stripe is comprised of two sections attached in different directions, both with lots of offsets achieved by jumpers. You can see more pictures of the individual sections in the album. Next comes a side, which has a black line running down it achieved with the relatively new bracket with four anti-studs on the side. It's simple but smart, and impressed me. Here we are at the end of bag 3, with a side and the back done. Bag 4 This bag contains most of the dark tan of the set, and more of the other expected colours. First to be built is the last side of the top of the helmet, which on its own looks slightly reminiscent of a colour-swapped pokeball. The last part of the side is mostly straightforward. Just missing the face now! Bag 5 Bag 5 feels pretty sparse, with not much left now to go. Thank goodness for that curved cutout 4x4 black plate introduced a couple of years ago - the designer of this set would certainly be in a bind without it. Both halves of the face get attached with the ever-versatile riot shield in dark red. Here's what it looks like without the centre, which gets added separately, followed by the rangefinder and finally the plaque. And here are the leftovers. There seem like too many 1x1 sand green plates, so I was worried I had missed something, but I don't think I did. Completed Model With no stickers included, we can thankfully jump right in. From afar, it looks quite good. Unlike with the TIE Fighter Pilot which has large areas of studs and large areas of smoothness which interplay in a visually obvious way, this one has enough studs interspersed with smooth that they blend together fairly well. As a model and display piece it's of course aided by the fact that the in-universe helmet has a lot going on, so there are lots of different points of visual interest and they are achieved with a variety of clever techniques, like I have detailed. It actually makes you want to pick it up and look at all the sides, and the back is one of the most pleasing angles. The side profile has an appropriate angle to it, matching the source material. Of course, it's not perfect, and the front is actually the most flawed section. The step in the black section underneath the dark red brim looks weird, and I'm not sure what they were going for or why that was necessary. The seams between the dark red tiles of the front portion and the angled "cheeks" is also pretty noticeable, as are the seams at the back of the cheeks where they go into the sides of the helmet. The designer has tried to fill those latter gaps in one place with bows, but that might make the parts that aren't filled even more noticeable. Finally, and most glaring of all if you compare it to the source material, the whole of the proportions are not wide enough and, like the Stormtrooper, match the LEGO minifig Mandalorian helmet more closely than Boba's helmet in the movies, which has a wider face. That said, I don't think most people, myself included, have such an accurate picture of Boba in their mind that they'd look at this and notice that something is obviously off. And there's a play feature to distract you from any flaws. Flaws, flaws, where? Final Thoughts and Rating Boba Fett's helmet lends itself to being a LEGO model like this, what with being fairly angular, and makes a good display piece with its variety of colours and design features. Those features and they way they are executed also make it a fun and consistently intriguing build as a LEGO set, much more pleasing to build than the Stormtrooper or TIE helmets. As I've touched on, as compared to the source material the helmet isn't without flaws, especially being too slender and with certain sections of colours much more pronounced than they should be. Even on its own terms there are areas that look awkward the two levels of black in the visor and the gaps at the very front. To some, these flaws might be on par with those of the Stormtrooper. However, to me, the Boba Fett helmet is flawed doesn't look it at a casual glance, while the Stormtrooper is flawed and looks it, obviously. Boba Fett has always been a a popular character, and with interest in Mandalorians at a high in mainstream pop-culture, I imagine this set of the three is the most in demand. To a casual fan, and as a desk or home display piece on a shelf, it certainly wouldn't disappoint. Parts: I didn't give a number rating for parts in the other two sets because they were so monochrome, so I don't think it would be fair to give one here either, but this set contains a lovely variety of parts including plenty of parts in colours that are still rare and one exclusive, so it's quite good. Build: 10/10 - Really a fun, varied build with clever and well-integrated techniques Design: 8.5/10 - There are the issues I touched on which bring it down a little, some of which probably could have done better, but there's also a lot that's great and well done with the design. Overall: 9.25/10 - It's good and a lovely, visually interesting display piece that does its job well. I recommend it for those interested, and of the three it's the one I'd recommend most for the parts and build experience as well.
  19. I don't think BrickG was talking about consistency within the universe, for the most part @Brickadeer, he was mainly talking about consistency in quality of Star Wars media. And yes, to me it's also a problem, and it's maddeningly been that way ever since Star Wars existed. Hell, as soon as the Holiday Special was made, it was clear Star Wars was going to be in for a bumpy ride forever. To be honest @BrickG, I for one agree with most of your points. The combat in TCW is generally abysmal. I'm not that bothered by it because I've come to terms with it being mainly a middling quality kids show a long time ago, but it would be elevated if they'd put more effort in. Even in the Bad Batch episodes, they just charge into blaster fire from a bajillion Battle Droids and then "look for cover" or run straight into the droids some more. It's laughably unbelievable. I've been bothered from the very beginning with this show that Battle Droids are all comic relief characters. In fact, what struck me from the beginning is that most of the characterisations are taken straight out of the opening sequence of Episode III, ignoring the fact that those characterisations are isolated and are different in different parts of the films. For instance, Battle Droids are primarily serious killing machines like they should be in Episodes I and II, but George made them all silly in the opening of Episode III. Both Anakin and Obi-Wan are pretty serious in all three prequels, but are at their most chipper and jokey in the opening of Episode III. George probably leaned more into comedy in that sequence (which does end in a decapitation though lol) since the rest of the film was going to be pretty grim. The Clone Wars show took that opening of Episode III and went, well that's what everything is like, ignoring that those characters are like that in those circumstances but not others (besides Battle Droids which are just over the top for no reason). I know that the Clone Wars is what George wanted, but what George wants isn't often very good. In the final episode, where I thought it might go and what I thought might have been slightly better is if Rex turfed all of those troopers. Ahsoka could still be all noble and not want to kill them, but Rex would deeply understand that they're really bred for this, and yes they're his "brothers" but they're also bred to be killing machines who won't stop, so he should blast them all into space. Dave sort of upped the stakes by having our heroes actually get hit at all, but then those hits didn't matter, so yeah it did seem odd. Also not a fan of Jedi pulling on accelerating starships now Sequel Trilogy style. If they can do that, they'd be doing it all the time. Darth Vader would've held the Millennium Falcon back from leaving Hoth for sure.
  20. Thanks! Yeah, it's a clever solution for the tubes and looks good! We'll the official dimensions are 7in / 19cm tall and 6in / 15cm wide, but if that doesn't mean much then it stands on a 10x10 base but overhangs by a few studs on all sides especially the front, and is about five minifigs tall. The price doesn't feel very good here as far as LEGO pricing goes, though a lot of Aussie prices don't, but as a collectible replica thing it's kind of in line with other non-LEGO items of that ilk. That doesn't make it good though. Thanks! That sums it up nicely.
  21. Maybe it's a regional thing. Where I grew up and had any experience with grading (the east coast of the US), 90-100% is A, 80-89% is B, 70-79% is C, 60-69% is D, 50-59% is F, and below 50 effectively doesn't exist. Therefore, when I gave the design a 6.5 that's a D in my eyes, which is pretty awful. It's not flunk out of school awful, but it's bad. 7.25/10 is a hard C or C-, which is also very average to bad. I didn't say anything about overpriced though. I didn't discuss value at all, since I'm going to talk about that when I talk about the range as a whole.
  22. The second of my Helmet Collection reviews, on 75276 Stormtrooper, is now live in the Star Wars forum. I wasn't impressed by this one - see why in my review and leave your thoughts! Click the picture to go to the review.
  23. Love it! Beaker is such a fun character and you've captured him very very well.
  24. If your argument is that it wasn't awful because it was like the rest of the show, well yeah, I found a lot of the show pretty awful! Just because it's one show, it doesn't have one uniform quality, and in fact I'd argue it's much more inconsistent than a lot of shows. Many shows have good and bad whole seasons, whereas TCW jumps around in quality like crazy within seasons. And it stayed that way the entire time even through the new Season 7. Season 5 had some of the most amazing stuff, like the final Ahsoka arc which I loved and the Mandalore episodes, solid stuff like Onderon which opened the season, middling silly stuff with the younglings arc, and the boring unwatchable (in my opinion of course) droids in the void arc. So, even when the show should have hit its stride, it was still all over the place. The finale arc was fantastic. I do think that the force wielders were given a bit of an OP boost, but I'd have to re-watch the whole show to see if that was consistent or not. It certainly isn't consistent with the PT and OT, and is more of ST realm power, so maybe that's why I didn't like it. The animation, music and visual storytelling though were all so well done.
  25. What @deraven said. Lots of videos use LEGO. This video doesn't even suggest that it's tied to LEGO the company in any way. Your topic title is also much too broad and misleading, as this isn't about LEGO and politics in general, it's about a specific YouTube video. There's no more discussion to be had about this really, so I'm going to lock this topic now.
