Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Clone OPatra replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'd just like to remind everyone to refrain from pestering the heck out of our verified members who kindly share the amount of information that they can at any given time. Personally I'm now very curious to wait and see what the later wave entails, and whether or not I'll agree with the assessment of "lowering expectations". After all, it's worth noting that what Guyon and Falconfan think is disappointing is still their personal opinion, and personal opinions differ even if general opinion en masse might often align. For example, Falcon though the Marvel wave with the Helicarrier was pretty neat and was saying so long before, whereas once I saw it I was pretty underwhelmed. -

I don't think people assumed it was necessarily going to be fully Deathly Hallows - many people were already talking about a Durmstrang Ship etc, so people definitely get that there will be a mix. But when you cryptically say that people shouldn't expect much of DH ("don't hold your breath for Deathly Hallows), it makes us go the other direction and think there will be barely any DH or even none at all, which (in my opinion and many others' opinions) would be disappointing. -

4842 from 2010 didn't include Ron (which was really annoying actually - he came in Hagrid's Hut instead). -
What I love about this topic is the frankness of the topic title. You'd read that and think "surely not, must be satire", but then sure enough - the title says you got stabbed by a new LEGO brick with a wire sticking out of it and you did indeed get stabbed by a new LEGO brick with a wire sticking out of it.

The "exclusivity" discussion (and the weird places it's gone to) is perennial. If you enjoy debating it that's fine, but it's gone on long enough in this topic for now and is veering into personal arguments and away from LEGO. It'll always come back again next year. Let it go and move on. Thanks. -

There's plenty of room to have this conversation over in General LEGO Discussion, not here in our Bricks & Pieces topic. Thanks. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/forum/5-general-lego-discussion/ -

A specific robe with Prefect badge would be neat and useful for lots of customs, not just another robe. However he really might be better in a CMF if that'd be the way he gets a unique hat-hair piece. -

I completely agree. Extra Hogwarts staff and even random generic witches and wizards can be cool, but let's get more important characters first. Percy Weasley would fit perfectly in a CoS-themed Hogwarts set and is much more important than a "blink and you miss them" professor. -

I'd you've read through the thread, as it appears you have since your previous reply was to something at the very end, you'd have seen I already told everyone to move on from this discussion. Move on! -

Much to my own chagrin, you have a convincing argument about how they have not done the more obscure buildings before. However, Xenophilius' house could have some neat exploding walls, though it doesn't really need any big play features at all. The other home sets - Privet Drive, the Burrow and Hagrid's Hut - only have some.minor functions. I don't think his house is likely, mind you. As for the tent, if they made it somehow collapsible and expandable to imply its magical properties, it wouldn't be boring. It could fold up and look like a small tent, and fold out and then look like a bigger tent. Has anyone considered that they might try and include all of the Horcruxes in the range? I haven't seen it discussed recently. It would be a natural "collect them all" range of items. Some have already been made of course, but the locket, diadem, cup and ring haven't specifically. -

There isn't yet a confirmed "lack of DH sets". There aren't concrete details about the whole range of set numbers and prices coming in August. Nothing you list as too obscure is more obscure than the Beauxbaton's Carriage which has already been made and the Durmstrang ship that many people want. Those two both have terribly little screen time and no action on or around them, as compared to the Lovegood House, Malfoy Manor, and even Shell Cottage which have a few exterior shots and prolonged scenes inside. Sure those two are vehicles and LEGO loves vehicles, but they are objectively obscure vehicles. LEGO has also done obscure or relatively unimportant character designs and scenes like the Slug Club party. A "Tent and Patronus Lake Rescue" set would be of the same ilk of elements of sets we've already gotten like Expecto Patronum, the Grawp set and the First Task. The Ministry could also work as a set at a whole ranges of sizes from a $20 set ala Room of Requirement or something much more elaborate. And of course a Hogwarts Battle set could be as small as the courtyard or a full on Hogwarts section with Bell Towers and part of the bridge. Bottom line is there's a lot from DH that could be done, and it isn't far afield from what LEGO has already produced in the rebooted HP line since 2018. -

Asking everybody to move on included you. If your sole contribution to this thread continues to be a dino wishlist, that also derails the thread. It might be time to let this lay low until a little bit more real info comes out, if this is going to be how it goes. -

Many good points have already been made here. Personally the whole Anniversary line sounds a bit weird, but the Hogsmeade set is the most incongruous of all. It sounds great - I just don't understand why it in particular is part of the Anniversary line per se since it's not a remake of something released for the first two films. Part of me hopes despite the three Hogwarts-related Anniversary sets that there is a proper Hogwarts set for the DH range to "round out" the Hogwarts collection that's been going since 2018. Then again, there's a lot of non-Hogwarts DH material that could be made, so I also hope that DH is done justice and spots aren't given away to things from other films. If we somehow end up getting at least Aberforth, Yaxley, Scabior, and Xenophilius, I'll be happy. More Death Eaters like the Carrows would be even better. -

This conversation about one person's expectations has concluded. It has already become a back and forth with the same points being repeated and nothing new said. Please move on now before it derails the thread. -
The simple answer is: it was already a long time ago and budget processes were almost certainly less rigid than they are today. LEGO has created and tightened up a lot of business frameworks since then. The real discrepancy comes in comparing different lines today that are given different license for colour changes, prints and new moulds. But even then, one can see how it could be motivated by the internal business case, and Ideas in general gets a lot less leeway than some other themes. Additionally, we don't know (or I have never read anyway) if Ideas sets fall into one "line" like a regular wave of another theme would, and therefore have to spread the parts budget around. Both Sesame Street and Winnie the Pooh require a bunch of new moulds, so if they're somehow grouped with other Ideas sets, something like the Blacksmith Shop would end up with the short end of the budget straw.

Welp, I was procrastinating calling in to backorder the orange spaceman. Now it seems like that ship has sailed. Theoretically, if I called in early March and the parts were technically "in stock" even if they aren't listed on the B&P website, would they sell it to me? -
LEGO does one off moulds all the time, even animals, and even complex ones. They didn't "need" to do a mammoth for one set to sell that set. Nor a sabertooth tiger. Nor that goofy bulldog they did for city last year (used in two sets, sure, but still). The list goes one. If they want to do a host, they can absolutely do a goat. We've seen how much they do hear the AFOL discourse recently, so I'm sure it's on some designers' radar and will happen eventually.

Why do you need to phone the US customer service department? Can't you phone the one for your region (unless you're in a region without one)? -
[LEGO Ideas] Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Clone OPatra replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think your model looks fantastic, and personally I enjoy the Tim Burton Charlie and the Chocolate Factory quite a lot, but given how universally derided it is on the internet and amongst adults generally, I can't see LEGO producing it. A Gene Wilder version is much more likely to be accepted. Why are all of the figures flesh-coloured rather than light flesh? Charlie himself was pretty pasty in the movie.- 68 replies

So when you backorder stuff over the phone, they can't even tell you how much your order will cost? You just place it and they later charge it for whatever? Also can you place an advance order for both parts that are in stock and parts that aren't? So say I made an order for the orange spacemen that included the tan dog - does that work, and what if the dog went out of stock in the meantime? -

Given that parts from newer sets have been added, and the 2021 hoodie (74528) and McGonagall hat/hair (73213) still have no price, might it be safe to assume they never will? Had anyone asked about those over the phone? Green wheelchair wheels (6334175) now for sale and in stock - which was news to me. -

From what I understand, over the phone you always have to give the long element ID. These are the ones for the spaceman: Orange Space Man Legs: 4120158 Helmet: 6295184 Torso: 6295181 Airtanks: 6295186 -

It's the B&P curse (when buying minifigure parts and accessories). It adds up really quick and when the order arrives it feels like such a small volume of stuff. I personally try to add in a few cheap parts just to feel better about the average price per part
