LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

And Kenobi and Book of Boba Fett (which is separate to Mandalorian). Kenobi is in production and Boba Fett is coming out this year. The next CMF we haven't heard about won't be until next year. -

I'd say besides the Hall the rest are just Hogwarts-esque parts based on nothing in particular. Not officially, but see one potential mock-up in the comment I quoted above. Of course that wouldn't ever be an official one because the bathroom is not put above the CoS portion and the Forbidden Corridor trapdoor isn't above the Devil's Snare. -

Rako Hardeen from the HH-47 Starfighter and every Clone Pilot ever have entered the chat Never making a P2 Cody could also be considered, but if we're just going for things they've actually done but done cheaply, those othere two examples stand. (But, I would argue that making 212th and Wolfpack P2 Clone Wars minifigures but no P2 Cody and Wolffe was a slap in the face and rung of cheapness.) -

Glad I wasn't the only one. I always love the irony of a LEGO set that most literally fails the meaning of LEGO - to leg godt, play well. You're quite right that there's not much interior to sensibly do if they're doing Battle of Hogwarts, since it's pretty much all rubble and clutter! At the time in 2011 I was fine with it anyway because it was only the second Hogwarts set in the series. A full courtyard would be a bit tedious but something like part of the courtyard and part of the bridge scaled down could work as a big set, or alternatively split it across a partial courtyard with some buildable statues and a Forbidden Forest set redux. -

With this curve ball of a year, I think it's hard for us normal folk to truly predict how next year will go. Personally, Hogwarts style aside I still want a proper send-off of the "two movies per year" theme. Though the battle is a very important part of the story, in some ways it least warrants representation in Hogwarts sets because none of the Hogwarts stuff is particular to it. Give me a Ministry set, a camping set, Xenophilius' house, Gringotts escape maybe a wedding set and we'd be good. The design team surely knows that all of the older fans will want to see DH covered properly, but at the same time they're bound by making sets that they think kids will like and I can see why everything I mentioned from dark and dreary Deathly Hallows might be a more nervous marketing proposition. As it is, they have done amazingly in this wave to NOT cover anything they already did since 2018 besides the Great Hall. Like I've said before, if this was the wave we got in 2018 I'd be over the moon and doing several backflips, but as it is I still feel afraid we'll never get Deathly Hallows stuff properly and can't stomach buying into a different Hogwarts style, especially one I find to be lesser than the previous one. Has anyone else noted the joke of the Forbidden Corridor set - you can't use all its components properly unless you own at least one other of the sets? Either you do it like the front of the box and the trap door is useless, or you do it like the back and you've got the top of a tower sitting on the floor. The Great Hall/CoS does have a lot of amazing stuff included, though not too much that I personally feel I "need". The Pixies and owl will be good BL pickups, though I dread the Pixie prices. The Basilisk is nice too but that'll be sold for $20 or more easy. Sinestra is so minor that I can live without her. That Lockhart face and hair still haven't grown on me since DA and don't remind me of him in the slightest. Once again, despite its age the original hair was much better - the other example being Umbridge. The new Umbridge figure with her original hairpiece looks ace. Therefore a custom fleshie Lockhart with Newt Scamander face will continue to do. -

Whether or not the sets are intended to physically attach to each other via technic pins, it's always your choice to display them next to each other or not. Personally, I wouldn't given that the aesthetic style is so different, not just the roof colours but the whole look. If I was going to get these, I'd probably set up an entirely separate, second Hogwarts display. -

In my experience, aftermarket value comes from a combination of desirability (real or perceived), access and ease of availability (i.e. cost of the set the minifigs are found in and how easy the set is to find), and time (how long the set has been out or been retired). Minifigure aftermarket prices pretty much only increase with time, and the sweet spot is when the set has become very widely availability and anyone can easily acquire it. However, like was said, the perceived (and to be honest, real) desirability of these figures is already going to be through the roof, and they're going to be on the "more difficult" side of being able to access given the price of the set, so they're going to start off pretty high and stay high. If someone wanted just a couple of these characters and really didn't want the rest and the bricks, paying $20-$30 each for a couple might still be worthwhile rather than paying the price of the full set (presuming they go for even that low) However, unless by some fluke the minifigure pieces become available on B&P or you're rich and willing to spend, farming a lot of Punisher torsos for instance is never going to be much of a possibility. -

Well, I'm glad other people are loving these now, but I'm still feeling pretty mixed on the Great Hall and CoS set. Yeah the classroom and Lockhart's office have nice attention to detail, but the exterior still looks like a mess and I still prefer the previous Hogwarts style of trying to actually replicate the buildings we see on screen. The Great Hall interior is a massive downgrade as well - I know it's based on the Dueling Club scene but I was blown away with the last one having the four tables plus seats for the teachers just like they should be. People are talking about the amazing CoS interior - what interior? All I see is the Slytherin head statue, which is a lot of fun for sure, but otherwise there's either no space or empty space next to the slide. The set definitely gives off the vibe of being crafted with love, but the style they've gone for isn't for me after the 2018-20 Hogwarts sets. I was really hoping for just one more set in that style with some Deathly Hallows battle stuff, but I guess I'm content with my Hogwarts display as is now. The new minifgures are excellent, and super props to LEGO for once again delivering all of the house robes in one wave, and new ones to boot (presuming Slytherin ones are in the bathroom set, which it looks like). Hogsmeade is awesome though, and I'll pick up the bathroom set as well for everything it offers at its low price. -

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Clone OPatra replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
LEGO is a company with a release and marketing plan, agreed to with Licensing partners when Licenses are involved. It makes sense that they stick to their plans. The difference between them and probably other toy brands even is that there's this whole internet culture of always wanting to be up on everything and know what's coming, so we get this leak atmosphere, and then people think LEGO is being dumb when something has leaked but they won't reveal it until they reach that point in their schedule. Actually, it's the AFOLs being dumb whining about it! Yes LEGO makes mistakes and stuffs it up sometimes too, but overall, you can't blame them for setting a schedule and sticking to it. The good thing is that, with a bit of time, we all get to know everything. Yeah it's an intoxicating feeling to be on the "inside" of leaks and know information in advance, and it's fun to discuss. It's annoying and childish and petty when some people know stuff and rub it in your face that they're not telling you. But sooner or later, we all see what there is to see. -

Sorry but I think this is a false impression you have. Maybe when LEGO started doing dual-moulded legs this was the case for a bit, but not any more. Pretty much every CMF series now has dual-moulded legs covered in prints both on the side and front, and they make their way into sets too: Umbridge in Harry Potter, Zia Rodriguez in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, etc. Dual-moulded legs are still rare overall and used sparingly outside of CMF I'd say, but LEGO absolutely does print all over them. -

REVIEW: 71030 LEGO Minifigures - Looney Tunes Series 1
Clone OPatra replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
IMO this is the most specialised licensed series yet. Even with the Simpsons series and their single-user heads, there were still torsos and legs that could be repurposed in city-like settings. All of the other licensed series so far also offered new and/or recoloured hair pieces, some cool accessories, and/or re-usable prints and the like. This Looney Tunes series has so little detail comparatively, and most of the potentially cool mid-legs are sullied with animal-foot prints on their toes (which can be rubbed off of course, but that's taking a customising step that many people won't do). I have fond memories of Looney Tunes growing up, but for me it's not enough to be interested in these. I'm glad for all the people for whom this does scratch their nostalgic itch! Meanwhile I can divert the money I might have spent on a CMF series to BL or save for more enticing things coming out later. -
REVIEW: 71030 LEGO Minifigures - Looney Tunes Series 1
Clone OPatra replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the fun and thorough look @WhiteFang! Unfortunately this series is really has scant detail, so what you see on the packaging is what you get. No alternate face prints (obviously) or hidden details. It's a shame that Marvin's plume is not detachable from his helmet. They made Rode Runner's top feathers a separate piece (probably to do with its thinness), so why not Marvin as well? As it is he's still the only figure I even half want from this series since his legs and helmet can be repurposed. Otherwise, for me this series is extremely low in appeal. -
Post-Apocalypse, a small vaccination?
Clone OPatra replied to Horlack Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
@Fuppylodders, I'll just pop in to say, the OP didn't actually mention Covid. Given the timing and the current worldwide situation, it's a fair inference, but at the same time, there is a growing anti-vax movement against ALL vaccines, including tried and tested ones like measles. It's a post-apocalyotic sort of MOC. I can imagine a fictional post-apocalypse wherein anti-vax terrorists have ravaged vaccine supplies and the likes of measles and polio are back full force. It's a bit of fiction. -

Well, they did have this to say by way of clarification in this thread: -
When LEGO first moved to 12 I thought they officially announced that they are now always doing three full sets and not creating any rarity anymore? So, every case of 36 should contain three sets. Overall, I think this might be the first Minifigure series that I skip in its entirety (purposefully - Covid made me skip s20 though there's always BL). I feel nothing for having these characters LEGO-fied, and there are no components enticing me from a customisation sense. Money saved for other things, I suppose!

Predictably late to their own party, LEGO has officially revealed the next Collectible Minifigure series: 71030 Looney Tunes minifigures. Here's the picture, if it's your first time seeing them! Click through to discuss in our Licensed Themes forum. Our trusty CMF review WhiteFang will back in action to review this series. Look out for that soon!

That's extremely creepy and unsettling. It's obviously Homer, but looks like. Five Nights at Freddy's version of Homer!

The chess set is kind of genius. It doubles as a chess set and an actual, accurate scene from the story. Looking forward to seeing it not through a potato though. The Moments sets being retired quickly is not necessarily indicative of how well they sold. Stores have limited shelf (and warehouse space), and not every product is intended to be kept around for the same period of time. It could just be that LEGO always intended these to be a novelty that go out of production fairly fast to make way for other things. Especially with a heap of other non-playset Harry Potter sets coming out in just a few months, it makes sense they wouldn't want to crowd the shelves. -

They're certainly not a cash grab for precisely this reason you've stated. A cash grab would be putting a very desirable figure in a highly priced, undesirable set just to take people's money. These, on the other hand, are just a bit of an add-on to celebrate the anniversary, and not inherently desirable to anyone besides those who decide to collect them. -
IMO these look fine for what they are, but will really only appeal to people with an affinity for these characters. I've picked up Licensed CMF figures before even when I don't care about the characters at all, just because they offer good parts. This series is most comparable to The Simpsons, but even the Simpsons series had prints that, while cartoony, could work in a city/modern-like settings. Looney Tunes, however, offers quite little in the way of useful parts for customisation in my opinion. Lola might be the best in that regard. But, hot dang, does Porky actually have fleshie coloured hips???

Saving money can still be saving money if you're getting exactly what you want and nothing else that's going to sit in a cupboard unused. I know it's not quite the same as what's been discussed with buying ALL the minifigures from a set, but I for instance paid $13 for a Buckbeak. Now that's a fair percentage of the set cost, but I didn't particularly care about any of the other minifigures and have no space for another Hagrid's Hut, so it would've just gone straight into storage. That's a win to me: I paid less than buying the whole set and got exactly what I wanted. With the new Hogwarts Castle set, I personally doubt I'll want all of the minifigures, but if there are a couple I really want I'd happily pick those up even if they're a bit expensive rather than paying a lot more for something I maybe might use sometime (but in reality probably won't). -
