  1. @cosmic didn't say all expensive sets sell badly, but instead this theme in particular is a very risky theme to price so highly when people have no association with the material making them want to buy it. Even if the value is there (which I very much think it's not), one wouldn't know seeing this on the shelf because you wouldn't even know what it was. Thanks for the point towards Stone Wars. It's nice that each side of the box of boxes contains the full set of 12, but only if A. you get access to an unopened box and B. you want all 12 to begin with. They don't mention anything about a way to identify what's in the boxes, which is a bad sign.
  2. One piece of anecdotal evidence cannot be extrapolated to the success or failure of a whole line. Once I came across heaps of Series 4 in a Target for 75 cents, over half off. Does that mean Series 4 was an utter failure?
  3. Even if we as AFOLs can rationalise the price, that doesn't make the price good or appealing weighed against the product casually viewed on the shelf, and it's patently unappealing. What other people seem to be leaving out of this discussion is that these Beatboxes are necessary for the app. You might be able to do some things, but a lot more comes from the Beatbits (aka tiles) and possibly scanning the Beatbox Minifigures themselves somehow. I wouldn't be surprised if they function much like Dimensions - these are like the story/level packs that unlock a lot of content each, while the Bandmates are like funpacks which add on a bit of extra functionality and dressing. Yet, you can guess how that might go. TikTok is basically free to be creative. LEGO's tiktok costs more and more and more, and yeah there's a little bit of physical product involved, but only a little bit.
  4. I also think the existing Maul horn piece is fine and it's more useful to have Maul's head be a regular minifigure head, as he often wears a hood.
  5. What's wrong with Maul's head and why does he need special legs? By Season 7 he doesn't have huge claw legs anymore, so regular minifig legs are not only fine but actually accurate. Ahsoka needs a proper lekku piece that actually matches her design above all. LEGO did Rebels dirty in almost every way imaginable, from badly designed figures to bad or weirdly scaled set choices, and just too little content all around. But really I think even Lucasfilm and Disney itself didn't promote Rebels enough.
  6. All of your examples though are for characters for whom there was no "close enough" existing piece to use. It's almost even more frustrating - LEGO goes all out for all of these minor side characters, yet when it comes to main, very important characters TLG's motto is "only good enough is good enough". Even if they don't give Ahsoka dual-moulded arms and/or legs, for which there's like a .1% chance, I really hope they give her a new proper headpiece - more like a .5% chance. There's a better chance they'll create a new Ahsoka piece when her Disney+ series comes around, but even then, they fudged Mando's helmet with the existing Mando helmet piece so I'm not holding my breath.
  7. Love it! It's a very cartoony build, which makes it very lively.
  8. I read elsewhere (I think Brickset?) that the "limited" line is just a marketing ploy and tempering of expectations. Basically they're trying out calling these desirable sets "limited" to push you to buy them straight away, but also no get disappointed if it sells out or is backordered immediately because they saiiiddddd it was limited. In reality they're not more limited than similar sets ever were. Thanks for the review @Ecclesiastes! This is one smooth looking set. It has the benefit of having source material that lends itself to an official set at this scale, unlike some of the much curvier cars that have been more of a "squint and they look correct" situation.
  9. Just catching up on some of the discussion in here. If anyone ever needs to know what can or cannot be posted surrounding leaks with regards to TLG's guidelines, feel free to contact EB staff. There's no need to speculate about it and second guess. Our current policy is clear: text discussion yes, pictures or links to pictures not allowed. The people with some access to info of course share or don't share what they see fit for their own reasons.
  10. There's a lot of hot-headedness going around in this topic, from some members especially, and it needs to stop. Be polite to each other. Don't be snobby and have a go at people. This is a LEGO forum. It's supposed to be fun. If you find yourself wanting to be rude to someone, take a deep breath and get some perspective. I really don't want to have to take this into "private chat" territory, but staff will if necessary.
  11. I myself could debate and bemoan the state of DC's films and the WB management all day, but it's gotten way off track. This topic here is to discuss LEGO. As far as we know and expect, there are no Snydercut sets coming, so the Snyderverse is irrelevant to this topic. How about that 66 Batman hey?
  12. Love that realisation of the Malfoy Manor concept art @Micmac! It feels much more like a set they would produce now than back then. What's the chandelier hanging from, though?
  13. Oh wow, that pirate is certainly not what any Pirates fans would've hoped for . The anchuitar could be useful recoloured and unprinted as an actual anchor, though. The Mermaid's hair stuck out to me also. Hope that gets a recolour to something more plain in the future. Seeing these Beatboxes in full, I look forward to the day they're discounted to $5 (yes, $5 AUD) just to be moved off of the shelves. It feels super duper inevitable.
  14. Micmac has turned concept art found in Harry Potter: Building the Magical World into a real life creation! Click through here and tell us what you think.
  15. This isn't much of a point when pretty much any AFOL was willing to do exactly this and get the exact figures they want every time. The last time I made a mistake feeling the packets was I think Series 1 - not a boast, just a fact that it's not a difficult skill to hone. Once you're proficient, even combing through an entire box of 60 only takes about 40 minutes to an hour, and if you only want certain figures less time than that. Moving to bling boxes is incomparable, as, if they're truly blind with no QR code etc, there is no way at all to determine the contents and they'll thus be an easy pass to any money-conscious buyers (myself included) who would only buy them if they knew what they were getting.
  16. Nice going so far! I really like your Kallax build, and the one you chose (in the middle of that picture) is definitely the one I would've said most evokes the design. Great attention to detail and I look forward to seeing it come together further.
  17. @Megbricks I think it will be a case of LEGO updating a mould/piece that directly replaces another one, and will take time to phase in. So "officially" some new sets will use the updated version but in actuality will have the old one for some time. People better at remembering parts can probably name other examples off the top of their head, but it's something New Elementary has certainly talked about.
  18. Very cool. If it's truly different it looks like the newer one has enough space for an actual bar connection near the tip.
  19. Ok, enough. I already gave a warning to step pestering the people with info. They share what they can and that's that. Keep it up and I'll lock the thread.
  20. @koalayummies also to note, while I clearly read your post as being playfully sarcastic, bear in mind this is an international site and even something you might think is obviously sarcastic can be lost in translation for others.
  21. Interesting, as my US order that was already delivered was placed after Jan 1. I called five days after placing my December 31st order and the customer service rep said it'd already been packed. But the site displays a warning that orders to Australia / NZ are taking even longer than the "regular" 5-7 weeks window. It's all a bit of a mystery isn't it.
  22. Wow, that's huge! More than just a casual effort for sure.
  23. In English they're called Thestrals, and I think that's why most AFOLs would've bought that set! I really didn't mean to unleash an FB opinions discussion. Being a MOD, I should know better - my apologies. In any case, the sets provide some cool stuff whether or not you like the films, but obviously HP stuff is more desirable to more people.
  24. If they were going to be related to the FB-series, it'd make much more sense if they were related to the third film which was supposed to release November 2021 at one point, so LEGO would've already been working on them. Then again, they would've been moved to next year by now. I actually would be somewhat keen for more FB-series sets because the character and world designs are cool even if the movies totally suck.
  25. I placed an order on the 31st of December. Still in warehouse (that's a full six weeks later for those keeping score). Any other Aussies or New Zealanders in this thread experience something similar recently? Now that I know there are those potential payment holdups (though my order doesn't say anything about that), I'm wondering if I should call up, but at the same time I don't want to hassle them and make it seem like I'm really bothered when I'm not! In the meantime an order I placed in early Jan to my US relatives shipped and arrived all within about five weeks.
