LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Clone OPatra replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes this! This is exactly why the 501st set and both the upcoming Imperial and Rebel Hoth trooper packs are so good - they contain all massable stuff and no redundant filler (well ok the quality of the BARC and AT-RT were debatable in the 501st set, but they're still massable vehicles). The bold lines and incorrect armour shaping on the Clones still bugs me a lot as well - it suits P2 animation, not the films at all. Then again, I don't care about P1 in general so I wouldn't have bought it anyway. -

Yes! New adult tiger for Rajah, Jasmine's pet tiger. It looks rounded and Friendsy as one would expect, but still quite nice. My thoughts exactly. This has got to be one of the oddest play features. Do kids want to carry around an enclosed diamond thing and then go - but look, it's got someone's torso and head inside! Yay!! The prices on these also continue to confuse me. The Mulan and Jasmine set is a 5+ set, not 4+, but it's priced as badly as a 4+ one. USD $10 more gets you the whole big Madrigal House from Encanto! I get that it contains two big animals and some big parts, but still. The bigger set with the boxes has a much more usual piece count for its price. -

They'll only be available from the certified stores and from LEGO.com in all likelihood, so no discount is going to happen. -

Dang, not good. It doesn't look it at all. That'll be $50 RRP in Australia then. -
I saw a standalone blurry-ish picture. There's also a reddish brown animal in the set with a fire truck, drone, police bike and sports car. Possibly the new dog? Or the squirrel again, obscured by blurriness.

2 brown confirmed. I see what could be a grey one in both the school and the burning building set.

I was kidding a bit with the egg splat, though it is animal adjacent. A fun part anyway. The butterfly is already on B&P: 80674 Also just saw a blurry picture of a new SUV with horse trailer, and the saddle part is back!! At last! Possibly a dark orange horse too? Or its brown and the saddle is dark brown.

These are the two available angles from the Lego.com images. Not the best but you can kind of make things out: -
Also in 60316. It's so cute! Where did you find an image that high res by the way? Is that on the app? I reckon it will be available on Bricks & Pieces. All of the recent animals have been. Does the egg splat piece also count as an animal?

The Marvel $20 price point with three figures is back? Surely USD 20 right? It looks like... a thing, with nothing extraneous. Nice. -

A worthwhile theory, but after clarifying further Marcos has confirmed there are five colours of heads included, and he used a winky face, so perhaps a new colour is coming? It would be in line with LEGO's aim to continually better represent people from all over the globe. Here's the exchange: True, so the crest makes sense, but the colours are still changed to be brighter. -

Ah right, and the crests are different from the 2021 mainline sets too, in line with the Moments torsos. It doesn't bother me personally - so what if they have some differently coloured gear, but I get how the inconsistency is annoying to others. Then again, the costuming (and design of Hogwarts) is horribly inconsistent throughout the film series. -

The five rows is what had me as well. It kind of looks like the second row down is a shade between medium nougat and reddish brown, and it would be weird if there were four of one colour and two of all the rest. I've asked a further clarifying question so we'll see. It's going to be a long wait until March! Slytherin looks like regular green and Ravenclaw looks like regular blue to me. Is that not what they were before? -

Update: I asked Marcos (who designed the set) on Instagram and he said it's 312 medium nougat, so perhaps there are only the four shades of minifigure heads and the digital image just made it look weird. That would certainly make sense. -

A few more observations: I'm loving the new top of trunk piece to turn the classic treasure chest bottom into a trunk. It looks like it has two studs on top, which is excellent. They're using Dudley's face for Draco now, hehe. There appear to be heads in a colour just a shade lighter than reddish brown, reminiscent of a shade they used for a couple figures way back in the Spider-Man 2 sets (what BL calls Medium Brown). Have they used this colour for Minifigures at all recently and does anyone know what it is? I thought the four tones they have been using are light nougat (like Harry), Medium Nougat (as in Dean Thomas), Nougat (as in Hercules), and reddish brown. -

With official pictures out on Lego.com, it's much easier to see what's what. The top of the box appears to show all of the Minifigure parts: not counting Harry and McGonagall, there are appear to be 16 hair pieces and ten heads. -

The Fawkes set did nothing for me since I'm only interested in minifigure sets in general, but having gotten it I actually find it wonderful and I love how poseable the head is. As far as the other direction, I was thrilled with the 2001 and 2002 sets at the time, but in hindsight I've got to say I find the Hogwarts sets from those first years pretty awful! And it's not that I now dislike all sets from those years, as I still find some sets from other themes around then to be spectacular. -

I'm with you on this one! It's the first modern Disney set I've seen where I went: oh yes I am going to buy that one no matter what. I'm not sure I'll even care to watch the movie, but the set looks fantastic. I also can't believe it's the same price point as the Raya set Boun's Boat. On the one hand, a beautiful big whole house. On the other hand, a nice but small and dinky boat. I'd love to read an official explanation on why Boun's Boat was priced so high. -

Do you mean Encanto? The sets don't release until December 1. After that we'll probably see if the new hair pieces are available. -

The AUD price (and USD price really) of the battlepack is simply too hard to swallow. Battlepack figures are generally not premium figures with all the stops pulled out, and thus don't compare to the pricing of CMF for instance where you're paying for extra detailed figures and exclusive moulds. The point of battlepacks was supposed to be a low-cost and good value way of building armies. Sure there's inflation etc., but at $20 USD or $33 AUD RRP, that's not low cost any more. They kind of got away with it with the 501st set because the builds were semi substantial (even though they should've have been). This Hoth one is just your same old battlepack like battlepacks have always been pretty much. -

I think it's great - makes the Queer Eye face much more accessible! Plus people tend to complain in the other direction when CMF prints are reused, making the CMF less "special". That Wolverine really looks unfinished with the legs like that, but it's great to see an X-Men set again, great for people to get Wolverine including his mask, and the colour blocking and styling of the mech make it one of the best yet IMO. I'm satisfied having the other two Wolverines, but it's still great to have this on the market. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 22. Rumors and discussion
Clone OPatra replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Neither do I, but without new moulds I get especially disappointed when they reuse parts in existing colours, which I listed as a con with some of this series. For instance, the green bin with the raccoon - why not blue or red or something else? Bins come in a lot of colours all over the world.
