I understand. I will try to be hopeful, but still with my fingers crossed. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion

Hmm, I still have doubts. ("I have doubts, I have so many doubts!" Meryl Streep, Doubt) The pictures on Brickshelf show that the figures do not have the black printing on their necks, and at least the Zombie does have the arm stamp. In his response, Steve Witt does not say that they are not still being made by the outside company, he just says that they're not part of the "extended line." Putting together his careful wording and that the figures have those two signs of being from the place where bad quality minifigures come from, I'm still doubtful that these will be any better quality. He does say that they're good quality, and maybe LEGO did step up their watching over the outside company to ensure that even these outside products have quality on par with LEGO's own. Still, I'm bummed that these figures are made by the outside company with the outside moulds at all. Additionally, a little off-topic, Steve Witt says that they hold the LEGO Product Line to a much higher standard than the Extended Line. That seems like a bad sign for the quality of magnet pack and other extended line figures ever getting better. -
Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion

I am confident that there will be another Clone battlepack this coming January, following LEGO's battlepack pattern of PT/CW, OT, PT/CW, OT. Nothing looks more like Clones than Clones, but they'll need a bad guy counterpart. Mandos won't be fanboy gold now that they're featured in the Clone Wars, in army force. From the clip, the whole army looks exactly the same, perfect for a battlepack. Yes, the Assassin droids might not have done so well, but what else are they going to do to fight Clones, more battledroids? I don't think the original battledroid battlepack did that well either. Unless they do something like commando droids or those droid officer things, they need some sort of bad guy, and an army of normal figures (non-droids) could do quite well. I too think the Mandos won't only be in this three-story arc. Unless their entire army gets destroyed in Friday's episode, I'm sure the Filoni won't just say "The heck with them" and never bring them back. -
LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

In response to your confusion, I think what he meant with "comic style" was an often humorous tone, which LEGO always has anyway. -
Well, either it's in a dream sequence, or something else, but it looks like that train is not out of scale with the figures judging by a a frame at 2:11 of this new .

I think it will have some levels from episodes too. That's what the article implies, I think. Yes, there was a level where you could fly a gunship, but it would be so much more fun if you could walk along as your character and then jump into a Gunship and start flying it around, and then jump back out when you want. That would be cooler than just being stuck in the vehicle for a whole level, which I did not enjoy much in the first two games. -
That trailer looks pretty good to me. Plenty of action, some plot probably. Sounds good!

What do you mean, tomorrow? It starts on the February 14, that's still three days away.

You are thinking about two different rumors. One rumor is of the 10XXX set with minifigures on the poster, which is supposed to be a Shuttle and maybe an Endor landing pad, and maybe something else too. There was another rumor from a while back about a midi-scale Star Destroyer, not with a 10XXX number.

Wow, I know you like to argue and all, but you just got way over the top. And I'm sure LEGO isn't sorry that it disrespects you by going against what you see as respectable business practices. What you seem to want from LEGO is for it to be exactly the same as it was in the '90s and back. A good place to fulfill your dream of LEGO being just like it was in the '90s and before is on Bricklink or Ebay. I myself recently bought the large Ninja fortress from 1998 off of Bricklink last week, and let me tell you that it was just as it would have been in the '90s. Do you actually buy any LEGO at all anymore, or would that be just wrong since LEGO defies your moral code with its business practices? I'm quite sure that LEGO doesn't care at all about your feelings, and is happy to be in business and producing new toys for each generation, even if those toys are not exactly the same as the toys they sold in the '70s. They must be happily making money with all of their rude and unjust tactics, while many kids and adults are happily collecting unique minifigures that they did not in their wildest dreams ever expect to get from LEGO itself. Yes, everybody is buying into LEGO's corrupt and evil scheme, because it's corrupt and evil for companies to try something new. Actually, LEGO sold random packs of Bionicle masks and the like for years. Hmm, Bionicle didn't exist in the '80s, so I already know how you feel about that too. I'm still waiting to see for sure if these are cheap bad plastic or not. I seem to think that might actually not be bad quality, but I hope pics from the NY Toy Fair will clear it all up. Dang, everything always hinges on that Toy Fair. -
Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion

Not just Star Wars, anything! Have you seen From Paris With Love? Anyway, I agree with you Mr. Mandalorian. Seeing that many Mandos in the CW time frame really takes the coolness away from them. I thought all the bad Mandos that were left were an elite, highly trained group, but this looks like any old person could become a Mando. That shot looks to me like the training facility in the GIJoe movie, where there are tons and tons of young guys training to be come "extra special." But if there's that many, how are they special? And we know that army is probably going to get creamed a second since we've never heard about them before. I wouldn't be surprised if they were all in one place that the Republic destroys and then the head Mando is told "Sir, we've lost the army." But, my point was, seeing that many Mandos is a good sign that we'll get a battlepack with them. And who doesn't want cool Mando figures, even if their storyline turns out to be trash? -
Weird! Alright, sorry for getting frustrated, but I had no clue what they were on a bout. Sorry you can't see it, I hate when YouTube does stuff like that, it happens in the U.S. on some things too.

Wow. That's a lot of Mandos. Signs of a Mando battlepack are really pointing to yes now. Thanks for the link! -
I don't know who could remember a thing like that the first time they watched a movie! 2004 sounds like the redone versions with added CG and stuff like that. I think that version came out around 04, but maybe it was later. Certainly wasn't original theatrical, since that hadn't been available until the special DVDs a couple years ago that had the theatrical versions that came out certainly after 04.

You can't see what too? Please be specific, since I have no idea what you're talking about! If you're referring to the London Toy Fair, they probably would not have let you in anyway. It isn't open to the public, is it? If you're talking about the NY Toy Fair, pics will be online, and you can see them no matter where you live. What is this about?

I think you're a bit too infatuated, Daniel Williams. Your post sounds like something that would appear on Lavigne's own site as promotion, not exactly what a fan would say. I heard a few tracks a long time ago, but I can't say I could differentiate it from a lot of other pop singers. Not that I don't like pop singers, it's certainly good music for certain situations, and I quite like hearing Britney's wrapped-in-cellophane-sounding voice once and a while. I'm kind of surprised Avril Lavigne is even around anymore. I keep up to date on a lot of pop culture, and I haven't heard about her in a long while. Davey, it's in the Culture & Multimedia forum, it doesn't have to do with LEGO. (But actually, I heard Avril Lavigne once looked at a LEGO set and then three weeks later she recorded a song, so… just kidding, of course)

The Penguin's Aladdin.... )
Clone OPatra replied to The Penguin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Good work again, Penguin. Jafar is absolutely stunning, his face is so good, and the beard… Did you cut his head to make it skinny, or is it just an illusion, since it's great, whatever you did. Aladdin is also very nice, the hair/fez, body, and legs are great, but I think his face makes him look too old. Maybe it's the cheek lines, the bushy eyebrows, or something about the mouth, but he looks to me like he's in his thirties at least, not the late teen Aladdin is in the movie. I think it probably is the cheek lines making him look too old, to me, since the eyebrows/grin match the reference pics. -
There were never any blonde figures at all until Luke in 1999 for the Star Wars license. Have their ever been non-licensed blondes? I guess tan hair (or the newer yellowish blonde) just looks kind of weird with yellow skin. Also, from a historical point of view, I don't think many people in Western Europe (where castle always takes place, I suppose) were blonde. Certain regions had red haired people, but the rest had dark colored hair I believe. So it makes sense not to have blonde castle figs.

What do you mean, Matn? I live in the U.S. and I can see it fine. Here it is deeplinked: Again, skip till close to the end.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
Clone OPatra replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I think you're quite right. The article did say that they'd throw in a few fan-favorite characters that were not in the CW, so that must be what Vader is doing there. Thanks for clearing that up! -
Thanks for the info. You know what, I read your last post wrong and thought you said we get Buy 1 get 1 free sales, which I'd never heard of. I see now you said buy 2 get one free (although I don't remember being in a store when that was in effect, either). Buying online from TRU is just silly, even with a sale going on, in the U.S. anyway. You already have to pay their jacked up prices, and then pretty bad shipping and tax as well! Might as well just go to the store and save on the shipping.

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but Cad Bane certainly is not obscure to the CW kiddie fan base. Star Wars hyped him in a few previews just about Bane, and he had a whole bunch of episodes with a good amount of screen time. Perhaps he doesn't totally belong with the CTT, but we know LEGO always needs to find some bad guy to throw in, and it's better to get Bane then some more battle droids. Also, while I would like to see some more clones in the tank too, I certainly wouldn't want them instead of a new cool Jedi. It would get boring if all the sets only came with Anakin, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, or Yoda as the Jedi just because those are the only "non-obscure" Jedi. It is nice that LEGO makes more Jedi so that kids and fans can build up a nice team of them. Aayla did have a whole CW episode, and she appears in EpII and EpIII for a second, so I think even kids might know who she is. She's certainly not as obscure as, say, Heth Koth.
-
Where'd you get that info? I live in the U.S. and I've never seen or heard of that deal. Even on the Sunday after Black Friday it was only buy 1 get one %50 off, and not even on SW. Interesting that the Home One would be a discontinued item. Last time I was in a TRU near me they had loads of the set, away on its own shelf not right by the LEGO section.
-
Well, we can still hope. LEGO did make a different Anakin head for the Freeco speeder, and a reversible Captain Antilles face, so maybe there's still hope for a scarred Luke. Time will tell.
-
Do you mean new head as in, "the new head he had also in the Landspeeder," or new to this set? I'm really not seeing how the Wampa Cave Luke head is different from the Landspeeder Luke head, even though I wish it would be. A scarred/unhappy on one side and normal/happy on the other side would be perfect for the Wampa Cave Luke.
