LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Clone OPatra replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Ah! Icky colored reddish-brown and milky dark tan. Such a shame, such a shame. Who said these were full quality, LEGO? Could you please link to where you found those pics? -
No. Besides for exclusives and specials, there are only ever two waves per year: January and Summer. But perhaps there is some exclusive we don't yet know anything about that will have a minfigure so awesome… But I doubt it.

That's just a slightly worse version of the picture already posted. Thanks anyway. These figures look pretty cool, with more interesting ones (to me) than the first wave. I can bet the Greek will be one of the rare ones. I actually quite like the Pamela girl. It's nice to get a smiwsuit, and hopefully she won't be too rare. -
And CAD: Quidditch Lesson: 26.99 Hagrid's Hut: 54.99 The Burrow: 79.99 Hogwarts Express: 109.99 Hogwarts Castle: 174.99

They have been stated numerous times, but again: Dobby Set: $10 Quidditch Set: $20 Hagrid's Hut: $40 The Burrow: $60 Hogwarts Express: $80 Hogwarts Castle: $130 All prices in USD. Price calculators do not work to convert LEGO prices.

I believe that in the U.S. the speeder is a Walmart exclusive. Several facts back up this thought: it was first found at Walmarts even before it was supposed to come out, and it does not appear on the Target or TRU websites while it is on the Walmart website. Also, I have seen no spot for it in my TRU or Targets. Do you actually have a spot for it in any non-Walmart store you've been in? Or do you mean you haven't been able to find it at any Walmarts? Either way, I wouldn't expect to see it in any store but a Walmart.

I agree with you so much. Even though everything is stickered, that's ok, it's nice to have the detail and I can see why it would be pointless for LEGO to make printing for one set. This HP line is such a treat in every way, especially the Burrow. Everything has a level of detail comparable to a MOC. The kitchen even has a stack of plates! Even if some of these sets are "rehashes," they show that LEGO knows how to do it much better now. Not that the originals of these were bad, but they were certainly plainer, especially the original Hogwarts Castle. I do have a gut feeling that this HP wave will be similar to the Pirates line sadly. One short-lived hurrah in response to all those people begging for more sets over the years. But we will see. Since this is a licensed theme and HP did do well for a while, maybe this will be a lucrative deal that lasts for two or three waves. But I still doubt it…

It's not the greatest picture ever, but it does show the Burrow nicely from the front: And a better view of Hermione. I don't think the Hermione is that terrible, but it really isn't quite right. It looks too much like LEGO was blending her in with the Indy and City women, they all have similar eyebrows and smiles. If they did the other HP ladies so well this time (Bellatrix, Molly, GINNY, Luna), why'd they have to wash over Hermione? That last snarky face that first showed up in the fourth movie sets was really good for her. From Joe Meno, Toy Fair Photostream.

Nah, I wished that was what the press release says, but upon scrutiny it really does not. Read it again here. It really just says that LEGO is making some new HP sets in anticipation of the new films in November and May. It doesn't say that they're making sets specifically tied to the films, nor does it say anything about more sets with the second film. It just says that there are some new sets coming out in October in anticipation of the Hallows movies.

No pics of Cad's speeder, just a figures list/figures picture. I wouldn't expect to see it, either, the store exclusives usually aren't shown at Toy Fair.

Yes, $80 does seem a bit high. Though, unlike Palpy's Shuttle this is a big, beautiful model with some cool functions and great figures. It also has a few big parts, which drive up the price a little. $70 would have been more reasonable, but then again the ARC had a parts count in the 300s and was $60, because it was a big model. It's not really all about the amount of pieces, it's about how the model feels and looks when completed. Will it seem large and majestic? We'll have to wait and see. It seems that the Slave I is quite an inflating ship. $20 to $50, and now $80. But of course each was different.

The new Boba is pretty nice. His helmet might even be overly detailed, but still, a great figure. As for favorite, I think it's a tie between Boba and Aayla. Aayla just looks so cute and right for a minifigure. Not too detailed, very cartoony, but still wonderful printing. The head-piece lekku also work very well. Might as well make this least favorite as well, so my least favorite would be the droid fixing up Grevious. It's like another skellie-leg droid to me, trying to make a droid out of normal parts and failing miserably. Yes, the med droid in the shuttle looks a bit non-LEGOish, but I'd rather have non-LEGOish than some blocky monstrosity.

Lego Minifig MOC - Wolverine
Clone OPatra replied to alanboar HK's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I like the use of the tiles, that's a very nice technique. The face looks nice and LEGO-y, though I'm not sure how much it looks like the movie character. In contrast, I find the shirt too non-LEGO-y. -
Mega Bloks Iron Man 2 Sets Spotted @ Toys R Us
Clone OPatra replied to dieselboy m's topic in Community
I don't get it, both the set with Iron Man and the set with War Machine are called Aerial Attack, just with different set numbers? Huh? And are the figures on bungee cords so you can shoot them across the room? I don't even understand what's going on, these seem really lame… -

Thanks for this link. Two things I find amusing about the descriptions in this link: 1. It says, "among the minfiigures are…", and proceeds to list fifteen of them, leaving out the hoplite. Did LEGO not know whether to call him Greek or Roman? 2. It names the disco guy as a Simpsons character, disco stu. Unless disco stu is just a random disco name similar to John Doe for a man, but the Simpsons character is also named Disco Stu and looks fairly similar to this figure. Girl in swimsuit=super hot! Kidding, of course, but it's great to see more city females. -
I believe it is the floo powder fire place. See those flames, and that technic bit? I think it might dump the minifig out in some way. Not too sure about the functions, but I definitely think it is the fire place.

I have to say, looking at more pics of the shuttle it even looks more atrocious. The colors are crazy weird, there are big triangular gaps in each wing, and the inside is filled with an ugly Technic helmet-ing mechanism with bright colors like red. I never liked the look of the Attack Shuttle much either, but this looks like they took the same idea and did it with a terribly drab and mismatched color scheme, no cool functions like bombs and shooting… Apart from the three fairly nice minifigures, this set has zero going for it. Throwing in some Shock Troopers would make it a little more appealing, or at least a decent, detailed interior. How about a little sick bay and some chairs and equipment, so Palpy can sit next to Anakin lying down and make sure he's alright? I don't know what LEGO was thinking on that one…
-
Indeed. There's no Trelawney in that set, they just used the old figure in place of McGonagall on the preliminary box. The boxes do not display the actual sets, they include white parts as placeholders in the models and the figures are all wrong. All the boxes really show us is how many and which figures come in the sets, and the piece count. For what actually comes in each set, look at the built thing, not the box.

Ah, Grevious in full frontal. He looks about as non-LEGO as possible, I' bet this one will becoming in one of those sealed bags from China. Still, he looks nice and cartoony just like the show, and I'm excited about curved battle droid arms that can hold things straight. Beat by this much, but to see the whole thing go here, courtesy of FBTB.
-
I'm not too sure, they still haven't uploaded the Freeing Dobby pictures. Last year, FBTB also posted some videos later, so it's possible they'll have some play features shown. But for what we've seen, it all looks quite nice. LEGO really went above and beyond with the figures, and the details and sets themselves are pretty good too. Hopefully this will not be the only wave, and maybe we'll see a second wave with more Hallows sets, but if this is the last Harry Potter wave we'll ever see then it is certainly a much more deserving end to the series then the one Castle based on Order of the Phoenix.
-
I didn't know Filch and Boba Fett were related…
-
It's nice for you to deeplink FBTB's pics, but honestly you sound like you're trying to capitalize on their pictures by saying "see my other posts for the deeplinks," etc. It might be nicer to also provide the link to the photostream every time as well so that people can just go there and browse around if they wish. Once at that link, I suggest refreshing often, since they're uploading new pics every moment.
-
New, clearer pictures coming on FBTB's photostream. There are pics of inside the hut, and once they upload them I'm sure we'll see more of everything. Super!

Well, we can always look to the X-Wing Fighter set as an example of minifigures just thrown in for the heck of it, but I agree that without some kind of little door or gun having Han and 3po would be kind of useless. Hopefully there will be some sort of small hallway, so that it will be two scenes: Snowtroopers chasing Han and 3po, and rebel and Luke fighting the AT-AT. I bet there's even a good chance we'll see another E-web. That'll make three!
