After reading about this, I checked the 5 CV-joints in my BWE when I started disassembling it yesterday and they're all normal.
-
Interesting. I don't use CV-joints very often outside of building official sets, but I've never seen this before. It looks all new without any wear, seems to be a molding issue to me.

Clutch gears comparsion
N-4K0 replied to Victor Imaginator's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The old 1-sided clutch gears could at least teach people to be patient and look more closely when assembling them, I guess. -
It still stands as "Dead Men Tell No Tales" on IMDb, has the name been changed elsewhere?

I agree that they should have shown the Kracken being killed. Since Jones was ordered to kill it by Beckett, I assume it died from the Dutchman's cannons in some way, and just the sound of that would have been great to see. Perhaps having a scene showing the hammer thing being used to call out the Kracken, then having the cannons killing it, later followed by the Dutchman emerging from the sea ambushing the pirate fleet where the Dutchman makes its entrance in AWE.

One thing with On Stranger Tides I feel is kind of a flaw is that the quest for the Fountain of Youth was done all within a single movie. One of the things that feel like a downside to me is that Blackbeard only got this one movie. I feel like the quest for the Fountain could have been divided into two movies (of course done so that there was enough progress and content in both movies), which would also make Blackbeard feel like a better villain IMO with more screen time.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
N-4K0 replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
When you consider that, as the previous post said, sets and "investment" in the form of new molds and parts have to pay off, I don't really see the point with special parts exclusive to only one or a few sets. Unless it's one or more existing parts in a new color, limited to only one set as we saw with the dark blue in 41999 at the time, I imagine that doesn't cost too much since they only need to make the parts in a new color and don't have to make a completely new mold. -
I like Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, although I must admit I always skip to the first encounter of the Dutchman in both movies the rare times I bother watching them. I think the Dutchman's entrance in AWE, bursting through the surface of the sea before demolishing a fleet of pirate ships is perhaps the most epic scene in PotC. I can see though how they can be considered weak, but to me they kinda feel like 2 parts of a single movie, kinda makes them feel better IMO.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
N-4K0 replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm interested in the jet, hope to see "official" pics soon. -
I watched The Magnificent Seven at the premiere tonight.

I agree, even just as a parts pack, this set is worth buying IMO. It's been more than a month since I built mine, I still have it next to me on the desk where I have my computer and I'm still a bit in awe at the size and number of parts. I can just imagine the total number of parts it would have it one was to fill in various holes and gaps in the structure.

I've never been a big fan of Star Trek, but I enjoyed the latest movie, Star Trek: Beyond. Watching that is my only contribution to the 50th anniversary, lol.

When I built mine, I had 2x 11L DBG beams leftover when it was finished, and surprisingly many 2L black pins, I think like 8-10. I am completely sure I didn't miss any steps in the instructions though. I also had one 2L LBG axle/pin hole beam missing, which isn't a big deal. I don't know why, but although the lock for the lower conveyor belt works when I turn it by hand, for some reason it does not seem to work when the XL-motor is running and the superstructure is turning. Locked, unlocked, the conveyor belt turns with the superstructure anyway.

As far as I'm aware of, the 11L axle was introduced this year and only in yellow. -

I already have this set gone through and built, but still eagerly awaiting the review -
Just got hme from the cinema watching Star Trek: Beyond. Never been a huge fan of this franchise, but enjoyed the movie.

It's really a lot of parts when spread out like that. Due to limited space on my desk I only opened the bags by number as I progressed in the building. Maybe I'll just stack everything up when I disassemble my BWE before building the B-model, just to get the view of it. -

N-4K0 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think it still looks similar enough to be considered a modified B-model. Redesigned and heavily modified, maybe, but still. -
Suicide Squad at the cinema earlier. Just finished watching Transformers: Age of Extinction after coming home.

I considered trying out this setup on mine. Too bad it can't be done. -
I don't quite agree on the PT Jedi being boring, but I would say we saw too little of them outside of Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda and Mace Windu for a proper impression. I do agree though that they seemed too stuck in, I don't know, something, when Palpatine could do his evil schemes right under their noses for so long and they didn't even have a clue even though they discovered the Sith still being around due to Maul's appearance and "death".

42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator
N-4K0 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
For the size and number of parts, I'm almost surprised how fast it really went putting it all together. And this monster is even bigger than I imagined. Having it assembled, I prefer having the height adjustment of the bucket wheel being manual. I'm really wondering what they could come up with for a future flagship to beat this thing, if only in piece count.
