Not sure how I missed your earlier reply on this one: Crusader: That works for me. If we need to make changes as we go along for better balance/uniqueness we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Detective: I like the rework and it thematically makes sense. Moving Empath's Persuasion proficiency to Deception also seems a good fix to distinguish it from Detective. Scholar: "Well Read" would be a mission long duration. It's essentially allowing a player to rework their Proficiencies to what is handy for the situation in the mission, though a limited number of times and not in a way they could take advantage of for a combat. If we feel it's too powerful, we could state that it resets after combats. Fighter Ace: Even though its a bit of a niche class, I really like all the features and think the second Trait makes up for the more situation specific Action. Verdant Knight: Thematically strong, I like the tie between the second Trait and the Action. Without it I'd feel like the Knight would have no option but to maximize Vitality as high as possible to even survive combat. With the action it gives them incentive to actually relish in it.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - General Discussion
Waterbrick Down replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
I don't think you have to worry about it too much. The tough and abrasive type is definitely a tried and true character that serves as a perfect foil to more of the diplomatic characters. Heroica 1.0 had a character Guts who embodied these qualities to a tee and was much beloved for it. I'm really liking this Bers though, its a good contrast to Kirwin even though both are Adamites. -
Yelana removes the grate and barely makes out an image from the other washroom. She catches a sight she more than likely wishes she could scrub from her memory for all eternity as the picture of a Quarm relieving its upset spliver should not be wished upon even one's worst enemy. Zaria Perception Check (DC 1) - (5, 2, 5) 2 Successes. Having traveled several hours by now, most of the cars passengers are resting and no one seems to be watching her.
-
No one seems to notice Yelana's misdirection as she slips into the other washroom. Inside she is able to find a ventilation grate, too small to crawl through, that she suspects leads to the other washroom. Yelana Perception Check (DC 1) - (6,5,5,5,+1) 5 Successes Yelana's auditory senses are overwhelmed by the sounds of a Quarm painfully and continuously emptying its inner digestive organs of any organic matter still unfortunately remaining.
-
"The one on the left... and now the handle's all greasy." Yelana finds the door on the left locked. A voice similar to the Quarm shouts out between a squishing sound that resemble someone trying to force an avocado through too small of a PVC pipe with a plunger. "Occupied."

Zaria notes the briefcase is slid behind the Dwarf's seat. Yelana Perception Check (DC 1) - (4, 2, 3, 2, +1) 2 Successes Yelana recognizes the symbol of the Thaumaturgic Society and notes the Elf seems to be studying a religious holoscroll on Telehanism. No one else in the dining car seems to take note of the bright flash. "Pfft... that's what the gloves are for, now it'll be on everything." The O'Kor'Uk indicates two washrooms adjoining the dining car. "One on the left is occupied currently. Do you just want a towel?" MM Note: No problem and I'm one to talk about going on an unexpected break. Glad you're still with us.

"Oh that'd 'bout do it. Might be a hair bigger on some of the lead wyrm. Nothin' like the frost wyverns they get there though, massive buggers as big as space freighter. And yeah, one racer might only race once or twice in a lifetime. It's a generational sport and skiffs and teams are passed from one family to another." "Or outside your own paradise climate I'd imagine. BWAHAHA!! No offense, that serene planet of yours is one of the most beautiful I've ever laid eyes on, almost a little too peaceful. Now the Ivishin... well it's one of the longest terrestrial races for sure. Every 30 years when the planet Recivic is at its winter solstice... that's when the snow and ice is the thickest you see... they host a cross planet race featuring racers from all over the galaxy, though some of the best definitely come from the cooler planets. Mainly because that's where you can best train sled-wyrms... they're a smaller breed of drakes and thrive in those frost-bitten wastes you see. So each racer has a skiff and a team of sled-wyrms to pull it and then they spend the next two weeks trekking across the frozen tundras of the planet all in hopes of winning a nearly 1000 credit purse. It's a staple of the Cricet culture and something they've held onto even as companies like Kristal Ice have moved in. If you're interested on making a wager on the outcome I can certainly put you in touch with some of the more reputable bookies." -
"That's an expensive fare for just a chance of employment." "Here you go sir... and the gloves." The O'Kor'Uk hands Soren a gleaming box of steaming popped kernels and a pair of latex gloves on account of the amount of butter. Famonian Buttered Popcorn: (Consumable) +1 Success to next Performance Check "Careful, too much of that and you'll plug an artery. Infrastructure, new developments, keep your eyes on the streaming channels, I'm sure you'll see a press release in a few days. It's going to be big."

"Well you've got your Engine at the front, followed by Engineering which houses the fuel generator, after that is Business Class Seating, followed by the Dining Car, then Economy Seating, Baggage, and finally the crew's quarters." "Sure thing, sir. Do you want that with Famonian Butter?" "Business for M-Tek. I've got a project planning meeting in Parous. Yourself?"

As big as they need to be. I wouldn't necessarily say they could fit an entire space ship though. I've got to say Quest 4's dialog and interactions between the PC is quite stellar so far, very entertaining to read! -
The Quarm responded in a somewhat muffled tone almost as if the voice was being strained through several layers of cotton wool. "I hadn't noticed, it's a very... linear layout. Here." The M-Tek uniformed Quarm slides a mechanical tentacle with a menu over to Soren. "At this point in the journey, we're pretty removed from any of the industrial centers. Mostly gas vats at this distance, not really the scenic part of the route. Now the canyons, those are a sight to behold...The light sounds puzzling, perhaps some sort of astrological phenomenon? I can make a note with engineering if you'd like."
-
Soren goes to investigate the next car, but finds the door locked and only accessible by a key card. "Sir, that's Engineering. Authorized personal only." Returning back the way he came, Soren finds himself in the Dining Car. A delightful concoction of smells greet Soren as he enters the car. A Quarm and Amourai are currently seated eating, while a Quo'Ri is busy preparing plate after plate in his limited kitchen space. A O'Kor'uk squeezes past with a tray of food and beverages. "Excuse me, pardon me. Just flag me down if you want to order something, otherwise feel free to talk to the chef."
-
"It is not, though Oquim's atmosphere is quite cloudy so even if was high noon, I doubt you'd get much except a filtered glow."
-
Zaria spots a chronosphere keeping time above the cabin door. Although not intimately acquainted with Oquim's planetary rotation she did recall them leaving the station at close to dusk and would not have expected any daylight at this time.
-
Zaria Perception Check (DC 1, 3) - (1, 3, 5) 1 Success As Zaria settles in to her seat she watches as the Dwarf relaxes in his chair and then shuts his eyes, sleeping. Outside the window the elf notes a brief flash of sunlight reflecting into the cabin before it disappears.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - General Discussion

And I'm back. Thanks folks for holding down the fort while I was away. Glad to see everything didn't burn to the ground. Again my apologies for the delay, based on previous years I was expecting to at least have data on my phone to continue running missions, but only found out a few days ahead of time that it wouldn't be the case for this location. As Kintober mentioned if we don't have enough sign-ups for the mission by the deadline or if I think other missions will finish up around the deadline, I'll certainly extend it to give more opportunity to players to minimize sitting around. Completely agree. The first setup post of a combat still takes a good 30 min to post, but running a round can be done in less than 10 minutes. It really is night and day difference. The hope is the system expands in its complexity by what you can do to and with the numbers and not just how big you can make them. Horrible timing and not something I would have planned on had I known going in I'd be without any means of posting. Thanks for your patience, I know it wasn't something you or any of your fellow mission members signed up for. -

Thorvald wanders over to the Mission board and posts a new Mission. Mission #5: Slay Ride Mission Master: Waterbrick Down Assignment: "We've had an influx of predatory scavengers lately and our town is preparing for Recivic's famous tricennial 2000 mile sled-wyrm race, the Ivishin. We need help clearing some of the trails to keep the racers safe." - Mervin Softpaw, Ivishin Directors Board Member. Party Requirements: 3-6 well equipped hunters that don't mind the cold. Reward: 50 credits each and a calibrated weapon. Sign-ups Close: 8/20 -
MM Note: Keeping things moving. Soren passes through the Dining Car and finds himself in the Business Class Seating Car.
