Here you go guy: Gimmick? Certainly not. This, my friend, is art! If they had done this, it would have rivaled 'Come to the dark side... we have cookies!' as the best easter egg in a LEGO set.
-
Thanks KimT! I'd take this over 'wants cake with liver and onions on top' any day!
-
Don't take it personally guy. Or we could go back to the glorious old days of stickered minifigures...

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer

Can you see the angle? It's probably not a coincidence that those who most dislike the design are those who know a thing or two about UCS builds... After seeing the new pictures, the only really big issue worth complaininig about on this set for me is that they did a pretty damn shoddy job on the underside. It's still got quite a few pretty good minifigures, and I'm sure all of our kids will have fun using the incredibly cramped bridge area (with STAMPs, I should add...) to recreate the scene from Empire. Oh, and I can't wait for the video of someone throwing this at 10143!!! -
I'm pleasantly surprised that you knew what I was talking about! I'm actually not sure whether a minifigure would have worked well at this scale. Perhaps Lasse could enlighten us...

You are okay with the idea of scalping? -
Hmm... I was under the assumption that Blackhole troopers, being in less sets, would be in greater demand. But in that case I guess one of these would be more preferable.
-
Well, now we know why the UCS Executor is the way it is...
-
What, no model soldier?
-
Battle of Endor? Because The LEGO Group knows that some kids buy sets for the minifigures? I'd be interested in an Ion Cannon if it were constructed such that it could open up to reveal a control station with that female operator. What I'm trying to say is, it's got playset potential. I'm guessing they would probably throw in Rieekan or some other rare minifigure as well so it would sell. I'm fairly certain Luke's X-34 was seen on Tatooine with a green paint job at one point(yes, it is the very same model). And the Radiant VII is based off a preliminary model of the Falcon, so there's that as well...

I agree completely... if you ask me the little bridge is a joke.
-
Please tell me I'm not the only one who was reminded of The Matrix upon seeing those red cylinders... in any case, they look really good.

You could try this method or this piece. As much as I hate to provoke Strand... simonjedi is right. Then again, I think that Pepa's rendition did a fairly good job on the proportions; I would recommend you look over it as well as Reto's rendition. Good luck!
-
Wait, really? I had always thought this was one of the better sets of recent times, accuracy-wise... I think I'm missing something.
-
I can't believe I'm saying this, but the shaping is better on this new rendition!

Yeah... this is a no-go for me. EDIT: In other news, the recent feedback over at FBTB appears to be almost completely positive. Hmm... -
Best 8-bit song, eh? Here's a pretty good one...
-
That confused me too, until I remembered that periods are used in place of commas in the numerical systems of certain European countries. EDIT: Wait, I see what you did there... but I thought the price for the 3.200-piece set was £370,0?
-
? It looks like an iPad that swallowed a DS!
-
Could we not? Thanks... To answer Lord of the Fries' question... it looks like a variant of this piece. It looks new to me... can someone confirm this?
-
Thanks KimT! I've been reassured... Personally I think that the Geonosian minifigure could benefit from looking a bit more skeletal (Bruce Lowell had a good idea as well). How would the new head look on the body of the older General Grievous?
-
My thoughts exactly... LEGO Grand Theft Auto? Will this be the first ever LEGO game targeted specifically at AFOLs?
-
I am wondering whether I am the only one that prefers the older Geonosian minifigure over the newer one...
-
Thanks, ceroknight, for remembering... Addressed here. @StoutFiles: I've looked through the instructions for 7965 on the LEGO website, and I think pages 22-24 would answer your question regarding the landing gear.

AFOLs such as Brickdoctor who go out of their way to create stunning MOCs that are both visually appealing and reasonably accurate, I think, are part of what keeps the fanbase alive! The sheer sleekness of this creation is amazing. I didn't think it was possible to make a LEGO 74-Z any sleeker, but you've done it. The loss in bulk that the tooth pieces allow looks great, and there no longer exist gaps in the rear portion, which is a big improvement in such a small model. The only major point I would address is the lack of the prominent cone-shaped structure on the right side of the craft (which both Larry Lars and Praiter Yed had successfuly incorporated into their designs). Your design is so compact, though, that I can't say I can think of a way to include it in a way that looks good (at least until I can see the construction in the centre more clearly). Overall, a very good MOC indeed.
