Might I ask the reason for the protrusion in the rear connecting to the trooper's back?

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Which makes me wonder - is buying all the parts for an old set off bricklink (minifigures and all) actually cheaper than buying a used copy? For example, if I wanted one of these... -
MetroiD isn't a Metroid fan... interesting. EDIT: It may interest you, then, that "metroid" means "Ultimate Warrior".

I've only played the five side-scrollers, but people have told me that the 3D games are just as good and perhaps even better. Fusion happens to be my personal favorite, with the original a close second... what about you all? For me, the hardest Metroid boss would have to be either Ridley in Super or the Queen in Return of Samus...

I knew it all along! Hmm...

Ah. Thanks. To answer someone's question, it appears that the canopy on 7877 is hinged rather than sliding.

Even more hilariously terrible than Chewie's? On-topic: Purist minifigure customs are great, because even though pretty much anyone with some money can replicate them, it takes some innovation to think of one. Nice work. Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina was certainly an interesting piece of Expanded Universe lit.

I can't say I see any major differences in the rear... Where did you find this?
-
She's got quite a negative aura about her, doesn't she?
-
I would expect another LAAT/i and AT-TE - I doubt they'll look much different from 7675 and 7676, but perhaps they'll have more clones this time around. Another Delta-7 and a rehash of Zam's speeder wouldn't be a surprise either. Like this year, we can expect lots of old rehashes, some of which are long needed. me. Um, there will be sets released... Greg Hyland said so.

Starting? It's been like this for a couple years now.
-
You can see the projectile launcher? Where? Oh, that reminds me: Looks like this person has most of the new sets already.

I believe the correct term (as coined by pedro) was 'medicarmourommand centre'.
-
So was I right? Nah... By the way, for whoever wanted the side-by-side of the System Falcons, I found these on brickshelf: Also:

Not even inaccurate, but even striving to move away from accuracy?

He must be going to save Luke... Self-plug. Eh, there exist many good renditions... Damned if they do, damned if they don't... and I think The LEGO Group has done pretty much all they can with the Death Star. We should start including things like this in Reviewer's Academy reviews.

It's a good thing we have Praiter Yed then. (Hopefully he won't mind if we use his designs in our displays... so long as we give him credit.) Falling ice? Now where could that be?

Brilliant! EDIT: A shield generator from a video game turned G-canon? Bah, retcons!
-
Knowing that you've played Empire at War I was admittedly a bit surprised. Hmm...
-
Hmm... reminds me of what another AFOL said: Guilty as charged. But hey, what are MOCs for...
-
That's a shield generator.

Hmm, the last LEGO Star Wars set I've purchased was... I should have waited another month and gotten them both for $25. So I guess this is really a 'lack of discount' case. Oh well...

System sets don't have to be accurate. Ever. Though it's nice when they try... I agree that the set isn't recognizable as Echo Base at all (looking at the larger picture, all I'm thinking as I see the entire right half is "WTF?!") but if you ask me this is a playset in its purest form... after having heard from, well, pretty much everybody, that LEGO sets as kids' toys do not aim for accuracy in any way, I find this set strangely tolerable. Overall, it looks like a really fun playset, and thinking of the tree thing in 7956 I think this is the direction LEGO is headed. So while we will probably never see a playset in the manner of 8038 again, I think we will see something more like this... @Clone O'Patra: Yes, I noticed that when Thego pointed it out. Perhaps the set is modular? I see "lights" around the base of the walkway; maybe the second level is removable. If not, well... I'm stumped. The module explanation, though, would explain why everything looks so slapped together on the box.

X-wings, of course. Around 2:38. Works well in MOCs like this: It looks like one of these in the background. Interesting...
