  1. Was it Bob? There was another role, not vigilante, that was mentioned that pinged me. Or maybe Trekkie wanted to know if you were claiming vig? Wait, wait. Did they contact you with a meme?
  2. I can talk now. I was super sleepy yesterday. The interaction between @Bob and @jimmynick was weird. Anyone else notice? Helpful. Real helpful. Super helpful. How's my sarcasm? Clear? Good. We all had fun with our Day One votes? Whee? Were they all really just fun. Seriously, I'm asking. Because I wasn't here. I was working 12 hour days for the last seven days, but all good now. Ready to cosplay! Excuse me @Kintobor, I violated a rule yesterday. Will I now be given 5 votes? That would be a majority, making me lynched if we can't come to another consensus...along with KotZ. Is that how it works? If we reach a consensus of 6 votes, but two other people vote for me, I'm dead? Asking for a friend, thanks.
  3. Hi. Stopping in for some air. What's going on? Stuff? I don't look like myself. I'll have to fix that. Give a lady a minute.
  4. Confirming! (I’ll switch my avatar later) excited to (cos)play!!
  5. You can count me in if you expect super low activity from me during the first two game days.
  6. Work and life exploded right after I got the conclusion up, so great timing, everyone! OK, without further ado, here are the role PMs, writeboards and notes from me: And the two Mason recruits: Ronan Rabbit (Kristel) And Caldwell Crocodile (Trekkie99) OK, general notes from the game! My overall takeaway from the game that it was a ton of fun to host and a joy to have you specific people play the game. I've had some calm games, but I've also had the majority of my games be interrupted by personality conflicts, host attacks, arguments, gauntlets, bitter feuds, etc. Everybody had a really positive attitude, which includes everyone who was frustrated in the game setup when they learned the mechanics. Soooowwyyyyyyy!!!!! Regarding the setup, I really did want to base this on a tested set of mechanics and that is why I searched Mafiawiki for a tested setup. I assumed it would be a smaller game since activity here seems to have dropped off a bit and I know I've had trouble setting a fair balance in the past. I also didn't want it to be so basic that it was just killer, investigator, protector. So I found Masons and Monks which is set up for 13 people. I ended up getting 15 people to play so I added one Scum and one Town. I tried to strike a balance between the Scum teams by giving the smaller team the ability to block. I also added a Tracker so that the Town would have something besides the masonries and then added the inventor because I thought they deserved the chance to get some activity going. I feel, especially in an anonymous game, that the Town has a disadvantage from the closed setup. Most setups on Mafiawiki are open or semi-open. The Inventor was my way of balancing that perceived disadvantage. On the masonries, wow! This was a cool mechanic, in my opinion. It wasn't utilized to great lengths but it certainly caused some action and info. It was clear to me immediately that the danger in the setup, that the Town needed to be wary of, was the fact that Scum could be in either masonry. Anything either masonry offered was only the guarantee that the members weren't on one of the Scum teams. I thought it was really cool that I drew Whitby Walrus (Tariq J) to be in the Anti–Monster Masons. I know Pierot Parrot (jimmynick) didn't appreciate it much, but it was a clear demonstration of the concept of the game. Perhaps it's more "fair" to draw from only the Town members, but that wasn't how I read the setup. Would I have let two Hellions be the Anti–Monster Masons? Probably not. Imagine the power that would've given the Hellions if they were able to recruit a Townie into the Masonry and seem like they were on the level. I feel like I was hoping so much that there would be a Scum member in one of the masonries, I wonder if I would've accepted drawing all Townies. Admittedly, Whitby was the last name I drew for the masonries. I'd like to think I would've let the cups speak and be final since this is the new Hinckley-host who doesn't meddle. The game would've gone way differently if Pierot had sent in the recruitment Action on Night One, instead of Whitby, because Pierot was blocked. If Pierot had tried to recruit Caldwell and it had been unsuccessful, I think Whitby and the Hellions would've had a much more difficult game. When I watched Whitby tell the Hellions writeboard that Pierot had suggested Caldwell, one phrase came to mind: putting all of your Scum in one basket. You never want to involve multiple Scum in a behind-the-scenes lie. If you get caught, everybody gets caught. That aside, I believe Pierot would've wanted to test the result by accusing Caldwell and Whitby might have resisted which would have caused all sorts of tension and mistrust, potentially. Also, it would've cause quite a bit of confusion if Pierot thought the unsuccessful result was an indication that Caldwell was a Monster, but then if Caldwell got lynched and turned up a Hellion... I have to get back to work! I have a lot more to share but will do so in subsequent posts this weekend. I want to wrap this up before Kintobor's game starts. In the meantime, if anybody talks to @mostlytechnic ask him to stop by and share his opinion on the game. He hasn't responded to any of my messages and never checked in on the writeboard. I'm afraid he's mad at me. I'm mostly joking...mostly... but as the writeboard knows, sometimes I'm needy. Which is why Sundra asks, "Are you guys mad at me?" after everyone reacts to her biting Caldwell's head off. That was a little shout-out to the writeboard for putting up with me being emotionally needy.
  7. Can you copy me and @fhomess on the proposal? I know @Dragonator has been pretty busy lately. Things might happen a bit more quickly if you cc us.
  8. @fhomess Look, a hosting volunteer! Thanks, Kintobor! I appreciate that a lot.
  9. I almost did that exact thing to Haydn, have Whitby convince him to kill himself, but I was afraid it was a little too mean-spirited. Glad you caught the semi-reference. But honestly, that story from Whitby was just bonkers.
  10. I thought that was who you thought he was. You made a comment on the dead board and I thought, "I don't think he knows it's Chromeknight."
  11. Yes! I wondered if you had actually been posting or just quoting things into a notepad or Word. Glad you caught my warning. I didn't follow Pirates Mafia too closely, but I did figure out that you had posted in your real account several times. Nice job on that being the one almost-instance. Once I saw you were out of the topic, I deleted the warning. For everyone else's sake, I saw "Tariq J" in italics in the Day Thread, so I posted "It looks like someone is about to post in their real EB account instead of their player account. Don't do it." Or something like that, hoping he would see the "Hinckley has posted a reply (SHOW)" or whatever it says. Glad it worked!
  12. And go with this, because it was an incredibly strong game. It's hard to get past our assumptions, in this game and in life. But you shouldn't let the loss reflect on your amazing game play and yes, the day five lynch turnaround was epic and impressive. All of your feedback makes sense and I will definitely take your experience into consideration when I put my next game together (hopefully, in November!) Congratulations on your college acceptance. To be honest, I could never tell if you were 15 or 30. I'll have more thoughts on everyone's play later, but just wanted to comment on this because you played so hard and I think you should look at it as a positive experience. By all means, take a break if you need to, but I wouldn't detract from anything you decided to do. Especially knowing your mindset on Day Six, you did play it exactly the way you should've. I'll write more about assumptions later. Great work, man. I'm so glad you played my game. Wait until you hear who played Whitby.
  13. I've added the Night Actions to the first post.
  14. Thank you! I used to meddle a lot as a host and I really enjoyed watching people play this time and leaving it all up to the mechanics. I think the best part was the players. Or a sweater!
  15. I have to admit that I was incredibly amused with myself when I was "filming" the carnival scenes. Thank you!
  16. Anyone can post in this topic... Rules (Deviations from the EB standard Mafia rules are in bold blue. Modified clauses have been struck through.) 1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Villagers (Town) or the Hellions (Mafia) or the Monsters (Mafia). To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Mafia, while the Mafia needs to outnumber the Town Monsters must eliminate the Hellions and control 50% of the village or nothing can prevent this from occurring, and the Hellions must eliminate the Monsters and control 50% of the village or nothing can prevent this from occurring Third-Party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. Mod note: Why the clarification of the win conditions now? The two Scum factions have had this win condition in their role PMs from Day One. The wording in the rules was accurate but purposely vague as this game has a closed setup, meaning the mechanics are not revealed to everyone before the games begins. The trigger in the game for the win condition to be clarified in the rules was the first Scum deaths, so there you go. Carry on... 1a. This is an anonymous game and you may only post in your character account sent to you by the host. Be sure to check before you post that you are in your anonymous account and not in your main Eurobricks account. 1b. Those who are allowed to communicate in private should not reveal their true identities to each other, either. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. 2a. If you need to, at any point during the game, you can proxy your vote to another player by posting in this format: Proxy: (Character) Similarly, to take your vote back, post in this format: Un-Proxy (Character) (I'm not sure but it feels like I'm butchering grammar there.) 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached. A majority being reached will not end the day. The day will continue for the full 72 hours and any majority vote that is reached can be overturned. After the day has concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of the night stage. 3.5. Players may not target the same player two nights in a row, and may not target themselves. Unless otherwise noted in your role PM, players can target the same player two nights in a row or themselves. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the following day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to or from you in PM with the game host. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. Similarly, you may not directly quote any communications (via PM or writeboard) that were sent to you by other players in the game. If you wish to reveal private communications, these must also be paraphrased. 5a. The Role PM is structured for every player in this way: Character: Character name (player) Affiliation: Villager (Town) or Hellions (Scum) or Monsters (Scum) or third-party (Neutral) Role: [Either the details of a Night Action or] Your weapon is your vote, you have no night actions. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread; you must always play the role given to you. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 6a. Only specific players are allowed to communicate outside of the day thread. These players are only allowed to communicate with each other during the Night phase of the game. As reporting of Night Action results to each other may be hindered by time zones, this allowable communication period will last until voting opens in the Day thread. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM. 11. Violation of the above rules will result in a vote penalty of half the required majority against you on your first offence, and the death of your character on your second offence. Violation of rule 7 will have a heavier penalty, including suspension, made at the discretion of the Games Moderator. 12. There are no hints or clues in the day/night images. NPC Schaefer Sheepdog, Lawspeaker Palma Pig, Scribe Pernilla, Badass Sundra Spider, Forest Shaman Survivor (1) Whitby Walrus (TariqJ), Cook, Winner! Along with his team Hellion **Occupations are strictly for players to have fun with their characters. Thank you to everyone for playing your hardest in this game. I really enjoyed hosting and am impressed by everyone. You have great attitudes and you did a lot of work with not many tools at your disposal. Both Scum teams and Town should be really happy with a game extremely well played. I have to get back to work at the moment, but here is the basic setup: Based on this setup from Mafiawiki 2 Mafia A (Hellion) Goons 1 Mafia A (Hellion) Day Blocker 1 Mafia B (Monster) Goon 1 Mafia B (Monster) Blocker 1 Town Day Inventor (4 protector, 3 blocker, 1 vigilante (not available until Night Four)) 1 Town Tracker (1 Backup Day Inventor) (2 protector, 2 blocker) 8 Vanilla Townies 2 of the Hellion/Town are selected to be Anti-Monster Masons (Started with Pierot Parrot and Whitby Walrus) 2 of the Monster/Town are selected to be Anti-Hellion Masons (Started with Bennett Bulldog and Ember Elephant) Each Masonry can recruit one player during the game for a total of 3 players in each, including dead players. And here is the dead board: https://123.writeboard.com/n9vzag4e20p034trjpitujjg password: onoz1ded Quick note: I get a little harsh in judgement towards the end with the remaining town. I was well aware that I can't know what it's like to be in your mindset during the game, and I tried to mention that every time I criticized your gameplay. Night Actions Day 1 Hellions —Whitby Walrus blocks Braxton Bear (Successful, no effect) Villagers —Myrtle Monkey gives herself one-shot protection (Successful) Night 1 Hellions —Caldwell Crocodile kills Braxton Bear (Successful) Monsters —Huxley Horse kills Cleo Cow (Successful) —Brewer Bunny blocks Pierot Parrot (Successful, no effect) Villagers —Ronan Rabbit tracks Gracie Goat (Successful-Gracie doesn't target anyone) —Myrtle protects herself (Successful-Myrtle isn't targeted anyway) Anti-Hellion Masons —Bennett Bulldog recruits Ronan Rabbit (Successful) Anti-Monster Masons —Whitby Walrus recruits Caldwell Crocodile (Successful) Day 2 Hellions —Whitby Walrus blocks Myrtle Monkey (Successful) Villagers —Myrtle Monkey gives Bennett Bulldog one-shot block (Unsuccessful) Night 2 Hellions —Caldwell Crocodile kills Pascha Poodle (Successful) Monsters —Huxley Horse kills Pierot Parrot (Successful) —Brewer Bunny blocks Ember Elephant (Successful-no effect) Villagers —Ronan Rabbit targets Leevi Lion (Successful-Leevi doesn't target anyone) Day 3 Hellions —Whitby Walrus blocks Ronan Rabbit (Successful, no effect) Villagers —Leevi Lion gives Bennett Bulldog one-shot protection (Successful) Night 3 Hellions —Whitby Walrus kills Ronan Rabbit (Successful) Monsters —Brewer Bunny kills Gracie Goat (Successful) —Brewer Bunny blocks Caldwell Crocodile (Successful, no effect) Villagers —Bennet Bulldog protects himself (Successful-Bennet isn't targeted anyway) Day 4 Hellions —Whitby Walrus blocks Leevi Lion (Successful) Villagers —Leevi Lion gives Bennett Bulldog one-shot block (Unsuccessful) Night 4 Hellions —Whitby Walrus kills Leevi Lion (Unsuccessful) —Whitby Walrus blocks Bennett Bulldog (Unsuccessful) Monsters —Brewer Bunny kills Leevi Lion (Successful) —Brewer Bunny blocks Whitby Walrus (Successful) Night 5 Hellions —Whitby Walrus kills Ember Elephant (Successful) —Whitby Walrus blocks Bennett Bulldog (Successful, no effect) Night 6 Hellions —Whitby Walrus kills Haydn Hippo (Successful) —Whitby Walrus blocks Haydn Hippo (Successful) Some general commentary: Symmetry isn't guaranteed in the composition of the teams. There was no reason to believe the two Scum groups were the same or that they mirrored the Masonries (although, that might make a cool game!) And apologies to those who got hung up on one player having two actions. It has been a few years since I've played a game here, but at one point it was EB Mafia standard to give the last Scum a fighting chance with a kill and a block. I will post Night Action results, role PMs and some feedback over the next few days. Thank you! If you're pissed off with the ending, go easy on me. I love you!! Feel free to reveal your true identities if you want. Please let me know if you'd like to keep your identity secret. Also, please let me know if everyone is OK with me revealing the rest of the writeboards.
  17. Apologies for the delay. I need a couple more hours. So sorry. Thank you for your patience.
  18. I am taking pictures for the conclusion now. It may be 12 hours (or perhaps a little longer) until I am able to post. Maybe I'll get it posted before I go to bed tonight, but I highly doubt that.
  19. Thank you to Bennett Bulldog! I appreciate you playing the game. A quick note on proxy voting: While I haven't played for a few years, it was once pretty standard on EB. Perhaps it made its way out due to it not being in the standard rules, but it was used in order to accommodate people who might be traveling, have an emergency or who are hindered by time zones while a day end is approaching and new information is being revealed. There may be a lot that frustrates people about the mechanics in this game, but don't let proxy voting get to you. It's not a big deal.
  20. Final Vote Tally Bennett Bulldog: 2 (Haydn Hippo, Whitby Walrus) Non-voters: 1 (Bennett Bulldog) The day has ended with Bennett Bulldog being lynched. Night Six begins now and will last up to 48 hours. You have precisely 24 hours to get your Night Actions in. Late Night Actions will not be accepted. If you are a player who can communicate outside of the day thread, you may now communicate from now until voting starts on Day Seven. Thank you.
  21. Vote Tally Bennett Bulldog: 2 (Haydn Hippo, Whitby Walrus) With 3 players left in the game, it takes 2 votes to lynch. As it currently stands, Bennett Bulldog will be lynched. There are 1.5 hours left in Day Six.
  22. Vote Tally Haydn Hippo: 1 (Whitby Walrus) Bennett Bulldog: 1 (Haydn Hippo) With 3 players left in the game, it takes 2 votes to lynch. There are 4 hours left in Day Six.
  23. Vote Tally Haydn Hippo: 1 (Whitby Walrus) With 3 players left in the game, it takes 2 votes to lynch. There are approximately 7.5 hours left in Day Six.
  24. Vote Tally Whitby Walrus: 1 (Haydn Hippo) Haydn Hippo: 1 (Whitby Walrus) With 3 players left in the game, it takes 2 votes to lynch. There are 24 hours left in Day Six.
