  1. My DVD collection is made up of odd 70s/80s films, anime and films that were critical flops.. I see to like that which the mainstream dislike. I have no problem with this, except when I go over my more "normal" friends houses for a DVD watching night. I second that Sky Captain was a film made from diesel, pulp and awesome.
  2. This one? peeron has the instructions Here. Hope these help Brickset is great for finding the set when you don't know the number (pictures next to search results are a great help) and peeron can find you the instructions once you have set number
  3. Fish Creatures and new diving gear? I will at least buy the smaller under £10 sets! I hope there isnt too much of a fuss over humans and their perceived looting of another's environment...
  4. I noticed that too. However I am in a more spacey theme on gaia. so I haven't planned to make a stitchpunk (Plus I think Sayoran's Goggles look better as eyes )
  5. Are you planning on using flesh tone or yellow for the figures? I do know of a minifig head that would work well for the fuhrer, my sister and myself used to make historical figures out of Lego as we are history geek, any way.. The A-Wing technician from the 2000 released A-Wing set has the (worryingly) perfect head.
  6. It is a common thing that during a recession "retro" (mainly things they had as children) stuff is more popular. It reminds them of a safer time when problems were far away and handled by someone else. Caramel Wagonwheels, Wispa Bars and toys that they played with as children. Plus parents see a toy that can be played with again and again as more value than a faddish action figure or stocking filler collectable mini toys. Plus the cheaper options are not as available (Best Lock, not that easy to get in the UK) and seen as a health hazard (Mega Brands unfortunate Magnet Re-Call).
  7. Aren't most AFOL a bit fanboy? I mean its a kids building toy... And we are adults playing, building, going to cons dedicated to the brick and spending lots of money on it. Not to mention being members of a Lego Adult Fan Community... Didn't mean to offend. And I mostly enjoyed the look on his face as spaceships went roaring by. Eight year olds are honest with their excitement and enjoyment (It was fantastic watching them watch 3D. Trying to grab the planet and the comet in Monsters Vs Aliens). I won't hurt if its a film for children (I enjoy them a bit more to be honest. The Boat that Rocked was the only mature film I have enjoyed in a while) parental bonus is money in the bank for all involved. *It is curteous to reply to such polite posts*
  8. Dark Brown and Reddish Brown bricks of the 2x4, 2x2, and Sloped (regular and invert), a pile of the really large tiles, the girder parts, Trans-Orange 1x2 slopes, cheese slopes and 1x1 bricks. Dark Bley baseplates or large dark bley plates. All for my largest project. Then after that I am not sure, depends on my next planned project.
  9. Heavens. Was I needlessly dismissive of as yet unwritten films? Meanwhile everyone rabidly tears apart a film that has so far only had an “ok, we are going to make a Lego Film”, It is yet to be written, scripted, cast, animated, filmed or even had hints to theme beyond a “mix of live action and animation”. However you mock and decry the supposed outcome. At least I know that I am not all that fond of the aforementioned franchises from prior experience. The Lego Movie is brand new, It hasn’t been ‘done’ before and Lego isn’t an established movie franchise beyond the Direct-to-DVD Bionicle films. That was just a little experiment in juxtaposition between something I dislike and something you have all decided to rage upon. I note with interest that the second part of my post has been ignored. I also take offence at the suggestion that I take every opportunity to mention my dislike of Star Wars. Apart from in this topic I have only mentioned it when pertinent and in a self deferential manner (mainly: I don’t like it, just IMO, not saying everyone else should dislike it). I don’t exactly troll the Star Wars board. However I do apologise if I have “muddied” it more than I realised. But there we are. Why can’t people be positive about a potential Lego Movie? After all it will equal more sales, more sets and maybe a fun new theme? I think I shall reserve judgement until after I have seen the film. I'll be able to take my little brother and we'll have fun (like at the Lego 4D Racers/Spellbreaker features at Legoland and when I took him to see Clone Wars and Monsters Vs Aliens at the cinema) watching a film I know for sure is ok for a small boy to watch. (It's nice to be able to interact with my much younger siblings, I sometimes feel too detatched from my littlest sister) I guess I'll be back here after I've seen it. To agree that it was terrible or just to mention that it was enjoyable.
  10. Saw this on BrothersBrick a wihle back, good MOC, great introductory MOC too.
  11. Are you perhaps speaking of LucasFilms latest Star Wars offering? (or the whole damn lot..) or mayhaps the next installment of the Batman Trilogy (Batman: Dammit, our actor died, here is some other baddie stabbing guys and acting out of correct character) Come on people! It will be a fun childrens film for families, made to sell more Lego. You will all dutifully trapse into your nearest cinema to watch it and then buy it on DVD for the inevitable exclusive Lego set attatched to the Special Edition. At the worst it will be formulaic and a bit boring to those of intellect beyond that of TLG's target demographic.
  12. Just watched the 2008 Get Smart Movie. It was the most funny film I have seen in ages and ages. Loved it. Then again I did watch the series on the internet a while back (big Mel Brooks fan)
  13. Oh, I support this wholeheartedly, I just wish I could join a LUG and participate in displays, I'm a little stuck due to my location in relation to other LUGs...
  14. They do quite often actually. I don't mind, it is sort of true... (So maybe once or twice I was a little enthusiastic about a new MOC...) As I am nerdy in many other ways (my job, the books I read, Comics, Cartoons, Zoids, my job... it's a long list)
  15. You know, in ten years time the AFOLs that are kids now will remember these themes fondly and MOC them "neo" style... Power Miners, Jack Stone and 4 Juniors will be nostalgic 'greats' , just like with Fabuland, classic space and other "classic" themes now. I sit and fondly remember Rock Raiders and Res-Q because they were must have themes in my mind. I wasn't born when Fabuland, Space and Pirates were in shops. Kids don't know that these themes used to exist unless they have an older sibling that kept their Lego and even if they do encounter the unique figures or elements of old themes, they have no idea what they are (I have some Fabuland parts I never had a clue about until I joined Eurobricks). So there we go. -On Topic- I think the minifig looks really good. I hope we get some proper promotional pictures or toy fair pictures soon.
  16. Perfect, just what I was looking for! Thanks muchly.
  17. Well, that's great. I am not a member of a LUG, I cannot join a LUG as none are near me... Anyone fancy getting a big bag of dark brown and reddish brown bricks for me? Sounds like a great idea for big LUGs with lots of displays and meetings.
  18. Have greasy wheels been mentioned? The tyres are all oily and they smudged my bricks and collected dust.
  19. You know you are a fan of Lego when your family calls you a lego nerd...
  20. Hey! Mystery Men is one of the best Super Hero films out there! The others do not bode well however.
  21. Nice mod, check mine out when you have time. It's great that you managed to keep the "action" features in there and stick true to the "feel" of the theme. I was somewhat ruthless in removing the lot to create a 6 wide car...
  22. Make sure you have lots of photos of anything you are transporting built. That way anything that can get damaged (and if it can, it will) gets damaged you can fix it like the photo. Don't keep too many models crammed into one box, unless they are small/medium then you can baggie each seperately and if they lose parts they are all together with the model in one bag. Large ones like modular buildings can go into one box each with bubble-wrap/airbags or alltogether with bubble wrap. I have been giving moving a lot of thought recently
  23. Bwa hahaahah. My order has arrived! A box full of brand new level and half a bottle of rum? That's my weekend sorted. I shall start work on the Mecha Bay once the mech is built. Plus I have a few small Agents MOCs to post later...
  24. Well hey, the opinion of Agents was far from high and it was the best theme of last year and has a pretty decent second wave. (In my opinion anyway. I do have a box from S@H of Agents2.0 sets at my feet) And thank you CopMike, I do get so vexed when people forget that those pictures are far from quality.
  25. I saw some of those Cars sets on clearance in Woolworths (*sheds a single tear*) but a C3 Batman/Catwoman set cried out for my pocket change and they were no longer on the shelf when I got back. It will be interesting too see the confusion in large toy stores when the MB sets are going into clearance as the Lego sets get on the shelves, unless they are offloaded to an excess stock shop. Omi, never understood the hate that people have for plastic bricks of slightly lower price and variable quality. Got a decent collection of non-Lego waiting for me to make Blockville. I wonder if there are any hosts for non-Lego MOCs? Would be fun to find out.
