I don't know why it is pathetic. K'nex still has its major method of combination included, it has just moved with the popularity of brick based. Megablocks has Strux, Lego even had Z'nap for a while. If your market moves to another sort of thing, then you follow suit or lose custom, (that's why Lego have so many different themes, the market moves from one sort of thing to another all the time). The figures look interesting, are there any IRL pics? I saw them in Walmart on holiday (no bag space to bring back construction toys) and wondered how they looked.

I use it in conjunction with Bricklink and Brickset, when one hasn't got information, the other does. Maybe if it gets faster I can list all my sets there (I have rather a lot now, so to start on peeron would take hours) and see the benefits. It is very useful when Bricklink's super strict search algorithms ignore my requests or can't find results...

Great use of playmobile! Cute figures. I really have to work out how to build in Fabuland scale. (Practice is difficult when I keep making minifig scaled MOCs...) -
Not entirely true, many girls feel/are pressured by society to conform to a centuries old idea about the place of women, I have been trying to trace back to when all these ideas started (I mean there must have been some point where a healthy human being was judged on what they could do, not what they 'should' do) but it gets a bit bland wading through tiresome MadFem vitrol and "evidence". But I digress. My point is, there aren't many women in construction because they have been 'forced' not to, I know plenty of girls who have exactly as much fun shopping as they do smashing a brick wall with a sledge hammer and putting up a new one. When Lego started boys and girls were on the adverts, boxes and catalogue pictures, however the stigma attatched to any girl wanting to construct (not just play house) meant that more boys played with and bought lego, so marketing followed suite. In fact a friend of my mother's had original lego bricks that her and her sister played with (no brothers at all) and about four generations of the family have all played with it (Parents, the aforementioned friend of my mother and her sister, their children and a grndchild, not to mention me and many many others). To sum up: Girls like to build and create as much as boys, society just didn't like them to do so until recently.

Post about Cartoons and Anime you like
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Not a huge fan of Ben 10, my little brother likes it a lot though. Never really clicked with me (maybe because I was grumpy about the loss of anime and decent superhero series from CN) not seen much of the new one either, I think my brother prefers the first 'toon also. -
I'm wondering about soldier helmets...

Oxford and Sluban (an Oxford Clone) make them. You can find quite a few sets on sites like eBay. I'm not sure about your area, but around me Wilko shops and stalls in a lot of town markets sell them instead of the more pricey Lego. -
So it is true, on the internet nobody know you area dog!

Hello. What lego set should I get? I am going to be buying sets in highstreet shops on the weekend, Asda and Wilkinson's have a good selection these days. I am torn between Monster 4 or Ramases Pyramid. Then there is the wildcard entry of Echo Base (which of course TKPinky tells me to buy whenever Lego comes up) which I saw in Wilkinson's. Now I do know that Monster 4 has plenty of great new heads but the pyramid a giant baseplate. However, with these games, I am quite likely not to play them (I prefer playing solo, or Pictionary with friends when somewhat squiffy) so I am not sure if it is worth it as a parts pack. As for Echo Base... Well, the useful parts are in high number and I have a great liking for the snow goggles. Argh, assisstance please?

Hello! Bereft of bricks. . . but hopefully not forever!
Peppermint_M replied to ladytetsu's topic in Hello! My name is...
Welcome to the forum 15 seems to be the age in which parents get iffy about Lego (I resisted greatly and held onto my bricks, even if I played a little less). You will soon rebuild your collection! Mine has doubled since I started really buying sets again Have fun and enjoy the forum -
Do you get catalogs and what do you do with them?
Peppermint_M replied to Clone OPatra's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I haven't the space for catalogues. I look at it, then it is my little brother's turn, then my mother browses the City section and my other brother the Star Wars section. Then it makes its way to the recycling box. -

Wildcard Entry! C3 made better DC sets than Lego, Lego basicly wasted the Batman one while C3 made some pretty awesome sets, along with Superman sets. I still stand by my statement that Lego should make their own superhero theme with a triumphant return for Super Station Master!

Since when has that ever been an issue for your average TFOL/AFOL? I really would like to see what happens when better pictures are around, how many people will backtrack? How many people will "buy the cheaper sets" and then give rather positive reviews As with many themes I will almost certainly buy every set under and including £10 from supermarkets and high street shops to add to my collection and get hold of the exclusive parts. Ho hum.

Oooh wonderful! Exo-Force is a favourite of mine too (I dig Giant Robots). Great to have another anime and Lego fan here . Hope you enjoy it here!

Great mod. I made a sword with lots of cutting sanding and glue, on a Lego elements. Trio you say? hmmm Methinks I shall track it down also: I have those exact figure on my processor in work. they sit there looking cool and showing the office how nerdy I am...

*jaw dropp'd* That is fantastic. I love it! I envy your skill and talent.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 2003 series (have it on DVD in fact) so as soon as I heard about this film (May-ish? it was a while back anyway..) I planned to go and see it, in 3D. Looks pretty good and the nature of Tezuka's work means it can be re-interpreted in many ways (and has been. If you like manga Pluto is a fantastic read) so that won't hurt the story, I am not trying to think of who wants to go to the cinema with me to see it. If it is out on 23rd of October in the UK then I can certainly see it pretty soon too. (Autumn is shaping up to have all the films I want to see, makes up for a rubbish summer.)

LEGO Pieces you like but most AFOLs hate
Peppermint_M replied to Emperor Claudius Rome's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I like and use all Lego. Even what little Bionicle I own. I never know why people limit themselves and stop using a certain part because they dont like it. -

I will most certainly make my very best effort to come, along with little brother no.3 (who will be 9) and such. Too bad we won't be able to say 'lo to you Iz. -
Fav Exotic Breakfast Toastable/Microwavable?
Peppermint_M replied to Lt. Col. Thok's topic in Community
Purest toast, with Nutella/(Chocohazelnut spread of non-name brand) or Marmite. Niether need butter as they spread wonderfully. Two slices with a glass of cold water or (once a week due to allergies) a glass of orange juice. -
Our tech-lab had a variety of kits we hooked up to macros we wrote ourselves, fun times. It was a subsection of DT (food-tech, Resistant Materials and Electronics) the lab was a pretty awesome room. The CISCO boys had great fun mucking about with the kits too.

I share my MOCs on the net, mainly so I can get the feedback I need from others who build well (8 year old brothers just shout cool and nerdy mates just want to "pwn" baddie-figs) plus I can share the story I created while I built the MOC
-
I build strength and awesome into my MOCs so I can play. I write stories and give the figures character. Then I explain it to my friend and we play like we are six again . I recently showed him my massive (grown) collection of Agents sets and MOCs, we had a fantastic time setting it up and enacting a fantastic final battle between the Agents and Dr Inferno and lots of scared civilians. It was great fun. I don't think I have ever stopped playing.

Although a huge fan of comics, I have to say I'd prefer none. Mainly because I like obscure characters and teams, so they'd never get made, I like the mature comics that would never sell to children. Plus they never make any female superheroes (Where was Huntress? Batgirl? Spoiler?!) so that would discourage me from getting the sets. The prices are also stupidly high on all licenses, that was a factor in the reason for why I have but one Batman set... Not many heroes are well known enough for kids to want to buy, apart from The Bat, the Spider and The Cape. Now if Lego made their own super hero line, with all the tropes of superhero stories, that would be awesome.
