  1. Tesni looked heard her name announced. She raised a cup in the direction of the Hybros, the imp was a good tactician and a deft fighter, maybe they would complete a quest this time. She searched the room for signs of Ellaria, they had quested together long ago with Althior. Cysgodion gave a brief warm glow from his place, it had indeed been the mission where she had aquired her blade. The last hero on the list had a chicken, which was just about all Tesni could recall of him. She carefully held the shaft of Mellt, smoothing the gemstones at the tip and hearing the crackle of ice and lightning in the hammer head. They would splat some rats soon!
  2. EEEeenope. Cardinal/Applesauce... Though someone else can feel free to start a more sensible thread about 3D printing potential.
  3. Not much going on at the moment. We've all gone and gawped at the pics and planned our buying. So, How 'bout them eagle tribe?
  4. My, a green and fine land this is. Very good MOC. Yeees, I want a Chima month too.
  5. I didn't have enough bricks. I didn't even have enough official LEGO! When I had an Idea on something I wanted to build, I had to build it. The colour didn't matter on the larger builds, the most important part was realising my vision. I think my worst offenders are lurking in my bricklink file and even on the forum somewhere after I put forward my most terrible MOCs. With small thigns, like planes and racing cars, I made sure the colours were perfect.
  6. Oh Mike!!! *Waves* You noticed our close landing times right? I'm going to try and get a local SIM card when I arrive, so pm me some sort of number if you like! At the very least I'll be sitting on some wifi with the ol' laptop once I arrive.
  7. Tesni returned to the hall from her regular coastal run. It was time for some more rest and food. There seemed to be a new quest but she was more interested in the possible ease of simply hitting rats for a while over anything else.
  8. It's David Evans on The Hayes, so a short walk across from the Dewi Sant or virtually directly opposite the St David's Hall. Next to the Market. You know, they filmed that episode of Doctor Who there? Eleven worked in that exact toy department while trying to track down the Cybermen.
  9. Thanks but it is fine, I was going to bring some if they had been in stock to share with eventees. I got my collection filled during the olympics!
  10. Yes, isn't that so. As such I'm just going to lock this thread.
  11. You can pick up Fabuland pretty cheaply online. For a full on custom the quality isn't even that important too. I had next to none but one very cheap eBay lot later and I have plenty to work with.
  12. That was quick. I think a chat is in order, don't you?
  13. Bah, no GB figs, I saw someone making off with them just ahead of me
  14. Oh... Pretty! That is something you'd want to get a deep photo/art frame for and mount it on the wall. You know, if light damage wasn't a risk
  15. Business is business, not charity (even charity can be business!) and after thatm, Governments make it hard for them too. Taxes, charges and levies increase prices, it may be a case that shipping to a private home address is cheaper and more cost effective over sending it to another business because there would be additional charges to do so. Maybe stacked on Taxes plus the risk of fraud on the part of the company receiving the product, it could be a government edict preventing it too. Yes, price differences suck but the US has a huge population, a great deal of competition for all kinds of products and, yes, as mentioned the Tax is not listed against the goods. Australia has about 93% less population than the US... The maths say that it is more expensive risk-wise to advertise, ship and stock the product at the smae price as the massive country in a country where the market is magnitudes lower than elsewhere. Not to mention that the manufacturing bases are closer in Europeancountries and the shipping costs to the US and facilities in China are less prohibitive for the company. LEGO is out to make money. Yes, they are out to make money with their warmfuzzies ethics on product quality and company practice, but they are still out to make money. Newsflash, the company was so eager to make money back in the early 00s that they expanded at such a rate into so many markets that they nearly collapsed. Then they slashed everything down to carry on making money. Yes, it is annoying that the cost is so high in comparison to others, yes it sucks that so far it seems economics is preventing Australasian market expansion (who knows, there might be other reasons too) but they aren't singling you out alone. This old complaint gets tossed up at least once every few months and will carry on doing so for time immemorial for as long as the ol' US of A has a whopping great population and the rest of us are less populated than some states...
  16. If it is such an important thing, could you quote or link to the post in question? Considering this thread was started in 2007 I think it is more than likely that it is simply a dead link. Are you talking about this link? If so... Really? Really. Really? That is a six year old post by a member who was long gone by the time I joined! We've had updates, upgrades and reorganisations aplenty since that point and as such the link leads to a dummied out section of the forum that is inaccessable to members.
  17. How about some custom Fabuland Figures? They would likely be the right scale.
  18. Not really. Some are self explained, like my country flag and others are awards from contests and the like. Some are little mysteries, because that is much more fun
  19. I have a stack of Homemaker heads from an eBay lot and possibly some Team GB CMFs (only if people are interested and they are still in the shop...)
  20. Not all of us are so organised as Rufus That is one excellent custom there. I look forward to future projects!
  21. Quicksilvers song plays no more.... while I always envisioned it as a bit more "framey" (lit: more struts than panels) this is a very good MOC of the scene!
  22. You can also try stacking the bamboo leaves on flexi-tube for uncommon angles and such. Though for tidy garden this only works if you are making a climbing plant, for overgrown areas it can be placed any old way.
  23. Howel's Department Store in Cardiff has quite a mixed bag of older and new sets, mostly the big box sets from popular themes from a long time ago. The mark-up makes them too pricey to shift. As for oldest: Two years ago in Slough I found Subzero from the old Xalax Racers theme in an independant pharmacy when I was nipping in to pick up some paracetamol or somesuch. Quite a surprising find, but then early 2000's impulse sized sets were strangely well stocked in unusual places, I found Basket Ball sets in my local newsagents from a similartime period.
  24. Tesni hefted over the club. "Eight of power remember."
  25. Right, back in the thread there was a lot of nastyness. Please behave, keep respectful of each other and Stay On Topic (This being the actual discussion on official 2013 LotR sets.) Or staff will be taking names and hammering down. Thank you for your time.
