LDD 4.1 Released

The UnplaceableBricksDump.lxfml is a file created for developer debugging purposes, and is not really intended for us normal users. Developers can open this file in their special tools where they can disable collision warning, so when they open the lxfml file, they will see the problematic brick in red, compared to all the other in yellow. This means that the UnplaceableBricksDump.lxfml actually contains info about the unplaceable brick (since it is colored red) - info that we can extract. Simply open the lxfml file in a text editor and search for bricks with colorID for red (21) (use search string below), and you will find the DesignID for the unplaceable brick. materials="21 -

I think we can keep posting brick bugs in this topic until it calms down a bit. This becuase it's diffiult to know initially what is features and what is bugs. About the messed up axis, it is a feature (which I don't understand - but maybe it grows on you?). See here -

LDD 4.1 Released

I knew it - I should have checked with the color guru before posting that chart Some comments below: You might well be right about this. I wasn't sure myself, hence the question mark. I'm actually removing these two colors from the chart to avoid confusion. Thanks for pointing it out. I included it so that people could know what colors it is and when to use it, because if you upload to BrickLink, you need to specify the color to get a match. About 179 Silver Flip/Flop, I'm aware that it is the slight translucent color, and that the plastic itself is more soft (I'm wondering where the name flip/flop comes from - could it be that it's just that - soft and flip-floppy?). I had the weapon in hand, and also looked at BrickLink, and it should be Silver Flip/Flop. About the legacy section om the color palette, I think it is a way to show colors that are not in the new Universe Mode palette, i.e. instead of fiddling with a dynamic palette, the LDD programmers simply added "legacy colors" and put "the rest" there - hence the wild mix of colors in there. Yes, that would actually be great The purpose of my chart was not to be a complete, and 100% accurate representation, but rather to give myself (and others) a quick guide to the most important Metallic colors in LDD Extended Mode. Hopefully it will clear up at least some of the confusion around this. -

Interesting problem. There is a file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer that is called RL278-094.lic, and that I suppose is the license file. Do you have that on your computer. Otherwise, try to uninstall, clean out the above mentioned folder, and re-install. I actually got a note from the LDD Team about this. The reason the palette becomes like this is because they added the "Legacy" color section for us fans, and since they wanted to give us as many colors as possible, the palette became a bit too long on some resolutions/computers. The alternative would have been to remove several legacy colors, and (luckily for most of us) they decided not to. So, the problem only occurs in LE mode, which is intended only for fans. Not a solution, but an explanation. You can remove ThemeAccess=LEGOUniverse if you want, but I don't think it matters if it's still in there. -

This actually sound like a serious bug if you can make LDD crash like that. Is there anyway you can track you steps and make it repeatable? I'm sure the LDD Team would like to have a look at this. And you are right that the rotation plane changes with view angle. Looking at the brick very much from the top and using the different arrow keys, rotates the bricks differently then if you look at them from the side -

How do you mean 6x8 grid. You mean laying out 48 1x1 tiles in a 6x8 pattern and then trying to move them. If so, it works fine here. Odd issue though. And you don't need to import into LDD Extended. All you have to do is open the files, and then goto View > New Themes > LDD Extended and it will switch over to Extended Mode. -

LDD blinked when I opened it, and now I have brickset 372.1 I wonder what they updated? -
LDD 4.1 released The wait is finally over for all users of Lego Digital Designer - LDD version 4.1 is here. A few new features have been added, along with a bunch of new bricks. But the most important news for the fan community is without a doubt the introduction of LDD Extended Mode which is replacing Universe Mode. So if you after upgrading to LDD 4.1 suddenly find yourself missing a lot of bricks, you need to activate Extended Mode. Speaking of new bricks. For the Pirate fans, LDD finally have the two most important bricks for any shipbuilder, the 64651 and 64645 ship bows. Aahrrr. For Technic fans there is a goodie bag consisting of a cylinder, diff gear housing and 5x7 Beams and 5x11 beams. Also, Hero Factory fans get a load of new bricks. Read and discuss the new 4.1 release here Read how to unlock Extended mode here, and then discuss it here

I'll check it out too, and see if I can find the problematic brick. OK, it's the breast armor on the guy on the church. I can't get it to fit, so it seems to be somekind of bug. -

Exactly right Now LU Mode becomes what it was originally intended for, designing content for Lego Universe (the game). The new LU Mode has nothing that Extended Mode does, i.e. Extended Mode is all you need Comparing the two, the new LU Mode is like the old, just with fewer colors and fewer bricks. Also, from what I can tell, there has bee no bricks removed from 4.0.20, so in other words, the RCB shouldn't be affected. But, good news is that bricks have been added!! Some playing around in LDD Manager, plus some extra coding, and I finaly got this list of new elements in 4.1. Download LXF below. (Rename from ZIP to LXF and then open). Yes, we shall see all the brick fixes. I'll see if I can get a list of bricks that have been fixed. The thanks should definetely go to the LDD Team as well: Tue, Claus, Paw, Martin, Lukasz, Jesper, Jakob, Bo, Matias and all the rest (see the About dialogue)! -

When is LDD/PAB updated?
Superkalle replied to RubeusHagrid's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Excellent find Lalror. Strange that they only give people one week to finish their designs and order from the old palette! That's kind of short, isn't it?
