  1. It seems the Technic shock absorber, extra hard, is indeed faulty in this release. You can't use the one in the palette, and opening any old LXF-file with it, will cause it to be removed. I don't know if and when it will be fixed, but normally the LDD Team wait a week or so after a new release to see what bugs are reported, and if it is serious enough make an small patch. I don't know for sure this will be the case this time, but let's hope so.
  2. 162 new bricks were added to LDD today. Check out this topic in the EB Digital Design forum and read all about it.
  3. Interesting. And I agree - a severe error. A trick is to search in BL for "11219*" (with a star after), then you'll get this result
  4. More info from the LDD Team: Bug fixes in 1392. So if you want to, you can check if any bugs is now fixed that may have prevented you from making or finalizing an Official Set. 1392 bug fixes.pdf
  5. It shoulnd't give you and installation wizard...it's just a new brickset, not a new LDD version. Check the Help > About and see what the Brickset version is. If it's 1392, then the update was succesful.
  6. Please note though that the geometries in LDD doesn't have bevels, stud logo or anything - they are very "sparse", so in that sense of little value for high quality rendering like we talk about here. Side note: the reason that Hrontos can make such nice renders from LDD is that he programatically adds these bevels, logos etc to the LDD geometries. Also note that Hrontos have special permission from the LDD Team to be able to access the LDD geometries directly, and hence the virtual file system driver that is installed with LDD2PovRay.
  7. Now I woke up OK, based on the list of new bricks that I get from the LDD Team with every release, it seems we've got 162 new bricks this time. A few of them nice oldies that were on our "old bricks most wanted" list (I'll update the "Most wanted" topic after this). LXF and screenshot attached to this post. One oddity spotted immediately: The 2412 1x2 radiator grill (located in the Plates group) now exists in a new DesingID: 15561 (located in the 1x1 plate with clip on side group). However, if you use the 15561 in a model, save, and then re-open, it gets swapped back to 2412. The following "oldies" I could see: 2424 2607 2609 2995 2996 6579 6580 6581 6582 32174 64305 64307 64308 64321 64328 74042 74043 74665 1392.lxf 1392.zip
  8. Excellent work. And I like that you've used LEGO-style strings. Sometimes you see people using too thick strings, and then it looks out of scale. The way you did it is really tasteful!
  9. The topic is becoming really picture heavy (for natural reasons ), but to be inline with the EB recommendations, can you post lower res pics (like 800x600 or 1024x764), and link to the high res ones? Thanks.
  10. Looking better and better. Only major issue now is the greenish dark grey color that was pointed out earlier. Should be a cleaner dark grey without the green tint. Also the surfaces of the bricks should generally be a bit more very glossy and clean, without so much roughness. see attached image Besides that...great to watch the progress
  11. Yeah, now that you mention, perhaps some of the bricks are a tiny bit too translucent - makes them look like Megabloks I noticed too, here is some odd affect that makes the bricks look like they were cast in one piece:
  12. Congrats to the winners!!!
  13. Very intersting stuff. I had a question relating to this last year. The rendering you did is really beautiful. I particularly like the imperfections in the windshield. And the lighting is spot on. Only thing missing seems to be the LEGO logo on the studs (like you say). And maybe that some of the bricks (like the wedge plates) have slightly too round edges (should be a tiny bit sharper) and that the studs bases also should have less radius.
  14. The stats post above is now updated with all votes
  15. Voting stats, (for the record): FREE BUILD CLASS: 104 valid voters; 7 invalid (were not members when contest started) For the 104 valid voters; 101 cast exactly 6 points, and three cast only 5 points. Those missing points does not affect the outcome of the contest however. ========== Results are then: 618 points assigned. Of 47 entries, 44 got at least one point. 16. Yules, first of all - this is not right topic for that question. But to answer - you need to look around the EB forum and you'll find for example this. If you search for banned there, you'll find the answer in one of the topics.
  17. Really, really cool! You should have entered that into the contest as a new way to view digital models
  18. Got a few minutes to spare? Great! We really need your help to chose the best LEGO Digital Design of 2014. There are two voting topics, one for the micro-class and one for the free-build. Find them both here
  19. And just to clearify to legoknight 100: even though it maybe didn't come across, Gnac is just trying to be a bit funny with the remark about bullying Calabar About your question: One of the key ways to make LDD create reasonable good instructions, is to take the model apart inside LDD to reasonable chunks. Anything that is built using SNOT (studs not on top), i.e. sideways, will cause problems to the building instruction generator. So for example, I always take the wheels off of a car and put them to the side in the model before creating the instructions. Hopefully it's obvious to whomever I send the instruction anyway to put the wheels on anyway. Hope that helps.
  20. Here are some statistics I managed to dig up: Digital Designer Forum stats June 2, 2010 67.394 views 1.003 posts 84 official LDD sets created April 4th, 2014 5 million views 21.930 posts 3.819 official LDD Sets 1.419 official Ldraw sets
  21. Final reminder for the ongoing Eurobricks Digital Design Contest. If you're planning to enter, please note that the deadline is April 15th. Read more here
