Starship Troopers 3. A lot of people really don't like it on imdb. Bring on neo-insectoids Galaxy Quest!
-
I just watched ST3 last night! The English set names leave us in no doubt about the Federation's view on peace! Interesting that the German names are so much less aggressive. Very excited by these, neo-insectoids could bring some sweet minifigs! I have had a giant space mantis MOC on my mind for a few months, I don't think my idea will fit in $30 though I wonder what the colours will be? The ideas make me think of ninjago season 2 - hope they are Mark Stafford's!

I picked up most of this theme from amazon.es at great prices. My son (2) is really looking forward to getting this set for Christmas. I think the play features are superb. The crane and belt remind me of the Neptune discovery lab 6195, which is a wonderful set for play features too. Nice review

Dhaki is slowly slithering over the flame filled sea, to dazzle you with her famous beauty.

What a lovely addition to Valholl, we look forward to our next visit. A really nice build to fit the scale. I love the bar, it is really effectively made and very economical use of bricks. Great colour scheme too. Well done!

I would be very happy to see other guilds contribute, with no points deduction (how would I feel if my builds were marked down for my nationality...), but I think we should take Kaliphlin requests first. I won't be able to contribute for a while (Korea and Japan next week, conference the week after ) but I would like first dibs on: Kitchen Garden Laboratory of the Mysteries of Life (I will bin this if your Medical Sciences overlaps, Erynlasgalen)/ or Laboratory Assistant's store room Courtyard of the Master Namer / or Enchanted Grove - thanks Mrs le Guin Porters' Lodge (but not a full gatehouse, I leave that open to others One of the Senior Common Rooms Faculty of applied opticks - Glass blowing and grinding I'm not promising to build them all, but I will give some a go ....not that I think any Avalonians were secretly clamouring to build a store room I think this is a really good chance to add some sensible buildings on campus like a smithy, cooperage, alehouse, clothier, tannery, for those of us who want to emulate the success of Albion, so if you're from Kaliphlin and you want to reserve one of these, something like it, or something more academic, or a support facility, put your hand up! -
I think you are most likely to find useful bricks in the big sets. A good way to get a lot of bricks is to buy Creator sets second hand, they tend to be cheap price per brick, as are the bigger non-licensed sets. Right now, the Hogwarts Diagon Alley set sounds ideal for your needs, and you can sell off the minifigs to cut the brick cost further. Good luck and I look forward to the results!

Medic, this is a great idea, it really deserves the further development of all the necessary items for submission. If you don`t submit photos, you simply won`t qualify as an entry. Good luck! Legonardo, your photoshop work is absolutely brilliant. For the 3 buildings together, is the baseplate also lego or pure photoshop? My guild entry will be up sometime next week, I hope.

Well, anything that gets our free build points up is good remmeber we are building for quality not quantity. Erynlasgalen, the Hogwarts Community build was superb and there were some really great entries. The limitation with it really was that it was mostly interiors, I suggest Petraea University should have a whole bunch of exterior builds (because generally people prefer to build exteriors) as well as interiors. It probably has a lot of ancillary buildings too (greenhouses, kitchens, tanneries, smithies, etc...) which is another way of saying, please feel free to build whatever you like, and submit it as a University free build. Universities agglomerate through time and build up different departments in different locations, so there is no need for architectural consistency - let`s use it as a chance to demonstrate eg ancient Kaliphlin styles, or the most modern glazing techniques. The initial idea was that the University build would feature a different special technique in each build, it would be great if we can work that in. Agaven, I think that subject list is a bit "modern" for Petraea , but if you have a good idea, please build it! For our more recent guild members, we have so far had a very good build by Cristoph on astronomy, and I have contributed on Opticks. I am pleased to announce that the Petraea General Trading Company is transferring its R&D division to the University of Petraea to contribute to our progress against the elementals. ps congratulations to all on making it past 100 pages! Wow! -
The Rise of the Mage is one of the most important lego artworks. Breathtaking, ground-breaking and inspirational all the way through. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. The way you brought it inside the Historica world was brilliant. You have made me a better builder, thankyou

Well played sir, well played. There's going to be lots of jealous ladies in Historica!

Very nice idea to have these massive pillars LD, and I really like your watercolours of Morgali. Looks very promising! Good luck with the challenge -

Congratulations Gabe! Notice anything else? Hope your work goes well and very much looking forward to your full strength return Ska, don't worry - if we win, we don't lose an existing member, we just get written in to the larger story. New house sounds awesome, I hope it will make up for all the troubles earlier. I have 7 or 8 scenarios sketched out, I would love to work with you on this one, I am sure it would totally rock. :laugh_hard: -

^^Hope you had time to check out the entries. Erynlasgalen's and Kayne's were particularly outstanding for Kaliphlin. I am very excited about the new mini challenge. This one is ours for the taking! Avalonia and Mitgardia have some (ok, many) superb builders, but they might struggle to change gear for this one  Nocturnus has great talent and imagination, but they are riven by discord and not turning up in force. I have a lot of good ideas already, am very happy to share if you want to PM me. We have a lot of first class builders who have not been able to take part in the last challenge, I hope they will be back in for this warm up for challenge 5. Not naming names, but great to see you back NM And a lot of fantastic new talent who are hungry to prove themselves for Kaliphlin, as well as the only travellers to survive the voyage from beyond Historica The deadline is quite reasonable, it's a small vig. Let's get back to our winning ways! -
Wow, great contest, great entries. The ghostbusters is superb too!

Now I am really looking forward to the free build, this is beautiful. My favourite part is the portcullis, very nicely played, but all the details look good at this scale. The quartz striations in the rock look good, but to my eyes they clash with the vertical grill bricks, I think it would be more geologically coherent to have the horizontal grill bricks clustered together near the quartz. Quartz is common in both igneous and metamorphic formations. I found striations very difficult to get right for the piscithopter build, not that they were really visible If only time was not so cruel to us all! This looks like another masterpiece in the works, and we may need a few masterpieces to match the recent free build spree from Avalonia and Mitgardia!

Thanks gabe, I'm really happy that you appreciate the composition, and what I was trying to convey with the perspective Thankyou very much for the compliment on the grotesqueries; If I were to start again, I would have worked from foreground to background and done much more calculation of what could fit in. I fit the figures to the background here and it should be the other way round, in retrospect. I did not think of those Mughal or Ottoman paitings, but you are right, they would look awesome for Kaliphlin. I honestly somehow did not know there would be public voting or a prize this time around - which is probably a good thing, as I would not have gone so far left field if I did I am just happy if fellow Historicans appreciate this. I wish time had allowed your full entry!

By theme and subtheme, usually split by faction, kept mostly in perspex boxes from Muji or 100 yen shops. I have around 50 in disarray for MOCs at any time, I use brickset or bricklink reference pictures to reassemble them, usually I can identify the head or torso by theme.

Beautiful work Fat Tony. Wonderful idea, superb execution. Very very impressive in every aspect. The tiled floor is especially nice, and the blend between foil and lego works probably even better than you hoped. Can Smaug now hold his head up? The folded wings are really great. Masterful build.

Ondylion is certainly very distinctive, with those beautiful easy-to-climb walls Love this one Ecc, the white detailing looks great, the textures and colours are superb, and the Wyvern is very well done. The minifigs deserve a mention too, both the building and posing are first rate.

Welcome to Eurobricks, SmoothJazz. Hope you will enjoy finding your way around the forums!

Excellent work on the balcony fence angles, the bat logo, rockscaping, turntable, and I love what you have done with the 1x2 trans bricks as display cases. And lights. Brilliant all round.

Very nice build Legonardo Davidy. The doorway detailing and the roof treatment stand out, and the transition from black to brown timbers oddly looks quite natural. I have no objection to your black and white treatment, my hometown Chester is full of buildings that are way more "in your face" than this. I wonder if the lack of windows makes this building a bit dark inside? Is there any interior? Where you have "missing pieces" on the roof, it looks like you have a solid timber frame underneath - I am no expert but would a frame be solid or have a birdcage frame like a modern house? Well done
