This is a brilliant MOC, Torgar! Love the plate technique, I never have enough to pull it off. The integration of the timbered portion is very nicely done. I really like your minifigs, they really convey the feeling of the guild. Feels very northern, maybe this can be a real village in Mitgardia? Best of luck

I can only see the one photo on flickr, but this looks very nice. The underground/overground feel really adds to it. Could you please post more flickr shots? Your other website is blocked by virus filters

Very nice Mikey! The venetian influence is very obvious and gives the scene an idyllic air. Your use of such gorgeous costumes for the minifigs is a very nice touch too, it really feels like a rich city. Good luck! -
This is one of my favourite entries. It's amazing what you have been able to fit into the small base. The build is excellent, and the story is both well conceived and beautifully illustrated. Great diversity too Best of luck

Thanks, clearly not a lady to mess with!

Halvard's travels have been to some absolutely amazing places! This is spectacular. I really like those 2-stage columns, the simplicity of your stonework frieze is wonderful, the roof is lovely, and the colour accents are really nice. And what a mosaic floor! One of the best I've seen, very authentic for a temple. Great borders too. Fantastic build

I really like your use of colour in this build, and the integration of the different levels. You have really done a fantastic job of Ondylion, this is a fitting masterpiece. Nice goats too

Yup, like this a lot. What everyone else said. But I am very intrigued by the action here. Clearly this is a building of some importance, with its own jetty and the Kaliphlin colours and armed guard. So why are those drunken sailors hanging around it? And what's the deal with the masked man and the horses? Mysterious and intriguing

Oh my! This is absolutely beautiful. Love what you've done with the windows, and the crane/sub combo especially

Cwetqo, do you remember if each set has different colour minfigs please, eg do you have to collect them all to get all the colours? I can't get excited by brickbuilt insects - I am thinking of PQ and Atlantis, neither excited me on the animals. The alien sets sound very promising though!
-
Yes please. I am curious about the ninjago sets, saw them for the first time this week. Are the minfigs any good?
-
That was so funny! What a great set up

Thanks Cwetqo, this sounds excellent! So the humans have the CMF spaceman/AC style uniforms in different colours? Orange and lime will be lovely. And real insectoids! The minifigs at least should be amazing. Sad there are no galaxy marines, maybe they can come in wave 2, or 4

What a lot of detail here, both in the history and in the build! That rolling pin and pie crust is inspired! I love the guidebook, it's like reading the lonely planet, but more educational The egalitarian nature of the building is very unusual and interesting, why are the gateways so elaborate but the houses are small? More to learn here I think. Great entry, good luck in the contest

Wow, I think this is your most impressive build yet Mikel. The use of the Scorpion Palace roof and nets for the airship gave me one of those "why didn't I ever think of that" moments, just brilliant. The clouds look fantastic as well, they really look like the stylised clouds you see on Chinese style temples. A very nice story too. Great entry, good luck with the contest!

Simply brilliant presentation. Your figures and vig are both excellent and the photography really brings them out. Love the grumpy leader, what head is she using? That castle on its own is fantastic, and the way you have created the perspective is superb, the perspective works beautifully. Lots of fresh small fish is a very good diet, I hope it can help us overcome evil! Best of luck in the contest

Yes, we like dragonriders! Arial cavalry could be very useful against Victor. I am very happy to learn where Ximus is, too. I really like the old school figures, the primary colours really stand out in the days of neutral tones. Your vig is really funny, I think he might need a bigger chicken. Good luck!
-
Superb entry NM! Your mythology and history are both really interesting and very well conceived. The Pratchett references are of course a big win I was thinking of floating rafts as a fifth guild idea and I just couldn't work out how to characterise it in bricks, you have done a brilliant job with the brick map, especially the sails and chains. Love the Standard too, I am looking forward to the other vigs. Best of luck in the contest

Hexx, this is superb. A brilliant entry story, and you have made a lovely representation of your reference theme given the size limit. The figures are nicely realised too. I think it's a very good idea to incorporate magic, given what we're up against! Good luck in the contest

Beautiful details and presentation Gabe. You really have a gift for colour and texture. This is an amazing vig given the size limits, it feels a lot larger thanks to all your detail. I think you have hit a very happy balance between South East Asian and East Asian architectures with this, it would certainly be a fun guild to build. The figs came out well too, the characterization of different castes is very strong. Good luck in the contest

Excellent story, Ska. I really like the shifting power structures, those horsemen must be kicking themselves that they didn't dam the rivers or canalise the marshes You have done a very nice job on the figures here. I really like the use of planking on the vig, it looks like driftwood which is very suitable, and the angled arch and tower look great. I like the way you incorporated building as a social motif too. I can't quite see how this is an economically viable fiefdom though - maybe it has amazing fishing rights? Good luck, and good to have you in your home building again!

Superb build SI. Amazing lighting. Where is your oppo? And, 2013 becomes very interesting! If this is Historica II in Space , I'm officially excited.

Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow, lots going on since I went on my travels. Kayne, I hope you get a good diagnosis and treatment soon. Your family are in my prayers. Erynlasgalen, congratulations on the 4th challenge win, well deserved! Theo, welcome to Kaliphlin. Great to have you with us, and an excellent first build. Shocker about Angeli! I feel we will be hearing much more from Gilence in Avalonia I got a 5th guild entry together, I look forward to checking out all the other ones. Gabe's looks particularly promising from the WIP shots! Kai NRG, those gardens are massive! It looks a wonderful place to chill and study. If you have the bricks, a bit of green landscaping like a hill would add quite a lot of texture to the lawn. And a new challenge! Again my first thought it, with such detailed specs, how to stop the entries looking all a bit same-y? I have a few ideas for mine, not sure I have the bricks though. Great to be back ps got my first whaddayacallit under my picture. That's really very funny. I guess I have SI-Mocs or Rogueang to thank for this honour. -
The Rimlands The Rimlands is the caldera of an extinct massive Volcano. We all know where it is from Gex's map of Historica The Capital is Stonetown, which sits at the strategic narrowest point on the North East isthmus rim, giving it excellent access to the freshwater lagoon and to the sea. The inner shores of the lagoon are inhabited by pterodactyls. The Golems mostly stay in Stonetown, but they also have a wondrous cathedral at Point Brave on the South Eastern Cape. As for the ruler, well, therein lies a tale. The Rimland is inhabited by dinosaurs, golems and humans. The dinosaurs are led by King Rex, and the golems by President Dorfl. The human power stucture is complicated - the Religious Leader is Shaman Bell, the Military Leader is Commander Blade, and the Civic Leader is Iago Sahkranavit. The unique characteristic of the Rimlander humans is their harmony with nature. They can communicate with and command plants, rocks, birds and animals (but not fish). Their ancestors used this power to set the golem people free of the rock. They use it to charm living trees into the shape of houses, and Iago uses this to cement his alliance with the dinosaur people. The colour scheme of the Rimlands is yellow and blue. Citizens of the Rimlands Here we see Commander Blade with Mrs Leonara Blade, and Mrs Josephine Bell with Shaman Bell taking a stroll on the shore. Here we have President Dorfl, Iago Sahkranavit together with King Rex and Narven Thomas together with Duke Repton. Iago is an orphan who was raised by dinosaurs and who has used his intimate knowledge of their society to build tight bonds between the human and dinosaur people. Narven Thomas is his right hand man, an enthusiastic and boisterous youth who knows the back country villages well. King Rex uses his friendship with Iago to secure a plentiful supply of giant prehistoric fish from the lagoon for the dinosaurs. The humans are happy to catch them in their nets, and being served fresh fish sure beats hunting pigs. He and his right hand man Duke Repton are using this particular expedition to learn more about the golems' relationship with humans. The dinosaur people and the golems don't really have a strong relationship, and King Rex is curious to learn more about the human power over the sleepless stone men. Scenes of the Rimlands Stonetown is a gorgeous mix of stone and forest. As a Religious Traditionalist and the guardian of the secrets of natural communion, Shaman Bell is a bit old fashioned. His home is in a leafy suburb, and wholly made of trees, but has only a bare earth floor for his ceremonies, and cooking pot of Secret Potion. Is it this potion that gives the humans their fantastic powers? He's certainly not telling.
