  1. That's unfortunate, then. I may not be picking up this whole line after all- I wish the atrocious pricing in City sets would get more in line with Superheroes and such, which tends to stay way closer to 10c/pc.
  2. It was probably more a matter of revealing the biggest, most impressive set first. We might see them at the NY toy fair, though.
  3. Very nice. You managed the modern, lots-of-glass look without making it at all bland, great job on that. Would love to see some interior, that building is just begging for it since you could see so much of the detail from the outside!
  4. The obvious (but expensive) option would be the modular buildings. They have plenty of big rooftops (and minor alley details in the back) for Superheroes to run around on. Unfortunately, the main town theme doesn't have a whole lot of actual buildings other than police stations. The Creator house line is nice for fleshing out a town, though.
  5. Unfortunate, but not surprised. Unless the Icebreaker is that $90 set, considering it appears to come with a fair few other pieces besides the boat itself.
  6. Well they're both in the Justice League. I haven't read many actual Flash/Batman centric pairup stories, but they do work together some.
  7. At least it comes with more exclusive figs than the Helicarrier, even if you guys in Australia get screwed again on the price.
  8. Was mentioned on the previous page, and in the description of the set on the article in the initial link. Some alien soldier.
  9. Nice to hear all three will be at NY, might get some pictures of the other two sets. Also cool to hear June 1st release date, may even see them start popping up in May.
  10. I noticed that, the printing on these figs is pretty great in general. Arm printing on Drax, looks like leg printing all around for everybody.
  11. It might not necessarily be blood. I kind of doubt it would be, for Lego. Set looks really great though, Star-Lord looks a little better than in the blurry pic from before. Actually has a proper helmet, I just wish there'd been a little more texturing to the front of it. Still, he looks way better than I had thought he would. Gamora and Ronan look great too! Love Ronan's new hood.
  12. I wouldn't be too worried about TMNT. It seems clear that it's doing quite well for Lego, considering they're not just giving us another wave but expanding the line for the movie. I think Spongebob had kind of run its course, and I saw a lot of Spongebob sets on clearance towards the end of its run. Seems like they weren't moving that well, Lego probably decided to just let the license go.
  13. I envy those few of you who are actually excited to get Spider-man. I'm with you on Electro though, i think the trans effect is really cool even if you can see the "tabs" (do we have a formal term for these?) inside the arms/head.
  14. Wow, the icebreaker looks really great. Also exciting that it comes with a little lab and such-- collecting the whole line (like I'll be doing even against my wallet's protests) will provide for more than enough for a nice little display with a substantial "base camp," between the main outpost, the ship's, and the mobile one. I imagine I'll be taking the ice block bit from Batman vs. Mr. Freeze, sticking Captain America in there and setting up my arctic sets for display this summer!
  15. More than anything we're talking about the amount of discussion that takes place regarding those other licenses. Which is next to none. So you'd be left with a licensed forum for a bunch of subthemes that very few people actually post about. Which isn't going to happen, for reasons explained exhaustively in this thread. I agree on updating the initial posts, though. People wouldn't have to be as bothered by the off-topic stuff burying the news if the OP in the threads were updated with the latest pictures and such as they appear.
  16. You've gotta remember they aren't for the same market, in Lego's view. The Juniors set is for younger kids than regular System sets. Kids young enough and new to Lego that Venom will still be new to them.
  17. Agreed. So, so much. I'm all for mods stepping in when it starts to become actual flaming but it seems like it happens every time people discuss something else even if it's connected to the main topic. Yup, and to elaborate, not a whole lot of discussion on this board actually pertains to any of the other licensed themes. So there isn't much else, anyway, and no one's talking about it very much. It isn't taking away from Superheroes discussion to keep it in the Licensed forum but it would kill Licensed discussion if we took away Superheroes. Which isn't going to happen, anyway.
  18. I had a spiderman motorcycle toy as a kid. As an adult looking back, is it a stupid idea? Yeah. As a kid, did I care? No way, spider bike was awesome. There's nothing cynical, kids just find them fun, and there's nothing wrong with that.
  19. Because it's not something the staff are willing to do right now, irrespective of people's reactions, is what I gather. It's just as well, it's a terrible idea that would kill the Licensed forum, as has been pointed out.
  20. I've got close to a dozen now. One old green one that I'd bought before my dark ages, the rest new orange. I love them, super glad they come in big sets now because I'm never far from one, so I'm actually willing to stick plates together now! I always had an aversion to it as a kid because I could never pry them loose. The smaller ones have their downsides but the advantage is, on longer plates and such, you can use multiples next to each other for a bit more "pull."
  21. I think your time zones may be off? When he posted it was evening in Denmark. Though, I don't know the exact opening of the show, I do know it wasn't early morning over there when he made that remark.
  22. I think the big goofy dynamite is more cartoonish and so more acceptable than guns. But I don't really get it, either. They've given us molds for tommy guns and stuff (and Joker even used one in the batwing set, albeit with a flag on the end), but don't seem to like actually using them. They could at least give us some revolvers or something. That said, the Doc Ock set looks pretty neat, still don't think I'm gonna pick it up though since I have the previous Doc, a dozen spideys and lots of police officers. Also, my mistake on the price for the Jr. set. It's a bit better buy, in that case! Still think I'd just go a bit higher though for the bigger one, but I can see the argument if you aren't concerned with Venom's accessories and such.
  23. I think the main detractor for the Spidey juniors set (from an afol perspective) is, from what I can remember, it's $20. You can already get Spidey and Venom in a $20 set, assuming you can still find it, plus Nick Fury and a pretty neat car build, on top of Venom's extremely handy back piece.
  24. That whole line of thinking makes me sad. Nobody should be talking in a discussion forum?
  25. Welp, Hulk Lab Smash looks a -lot- better in the video review than the pictures. Thanks for putting the review together! Had to get this set anyway since I missed Hulk last time, gotta finish my Avengers, but after seeing the video I won't be groaning so much about the $60 tag.
