That's a pretty charming little scene. The "bat-boot" totally suits the cartoony little Batmobile and the bright-colored versions of Batman and Robin- such a practical gadget!

I like the use of the decorations from the official lair set. I'm always a sucker for using "official" builds in conjunction with MOCing.

From what I've read for other toy manufacturers, TOR (and presumably KotOR) were exempted from the list of "don't bother with EU stuff." TOR is still an ongoing game and being thousands of years removed from any of the movies it has little chance of in any way conflicting with Disney's plan- there's just no real reason it would get thrown out (again, especially with the MMO still going).

I forgot about that one- don't have that set. Don't need another Doc Ock or another Spider-man, so it was never really on my radar. Regardless, the mods have been generally leaning towards freedom of discussion. Your point has been made, I'd take it up with them if you really want to keep harping on it. I don't build blue and red vehicles, and most of those parts are pretty vehicle-specific, so I couldn't even tell myself that unfortunately. I don't mind the vehicles, I get that it sells. Hell, I even understand a spidey-copter. If he's leaving New York, web slinging isn't going to get him far. But I really dislike the design of the one they gave us this year.

For me it was one of those sets that actually looked better in pictures (despite still not looking good). In hand, it's pretty horrible, makes no sense at all, and has the most asinine play feature I've ever seen. And you know how bad some of them get. Also, that's why I never post in the Star Wars subforum despite liking Star Wars sets. I avoid over-moderated forums, as a rule (subjective, I know, but I avoid ones that fall into my view of over-moderation).

It really is. Especially since I passed on the Penguin face-off set for it and haven't seen that one in-stock since at my usual local stores. And I don't hate the Spider-man figure (though I do think he could be improved). I just don't need a dozen of them. Iron Man got variants, Hulk and Cap and Thor have gotten (albeit subtle) variants. Spider-man keeps being exactly the same even though the show all his sets are based on give excuses for variants.

Like I said, we already know almost everything about the 2014 sets. Until there's a 2015 speculation and rumors topic, we may as well keep it in here. We're discussing potential set material from upcoming films, which is better than discussing nothing at all, and there really isn't anything to discuss anymore with 2014 sets until final pictures leak for the last two GotG sets, or there's new SDCC exclusives to complain about. What is there you want us to even say about the 2014 sets that hasn't already been said? Electro is really cool, though I think I'll be using mine as an Iceman to add to my X-men when the X-jet comes out. That being said, I felt almost sick after assembling the spider-trike. Even being as cheap as it was that's the most overwhelming sense of wasted money I've had since I finished my dark ages. I don't even have any real use for the parts, and it's a worse vehicle than the shoddiest of Star Wars battle pack drop-ins. It's hard to avoid it, as someone else mentioned. I wanted Dr. Doom and Nova, also got Spidey. Wanted Electro, got Spidey. Wanted Venom, got Spidey.

To be perfectly frank, we already know all of this year's sets barring some surprise D2C or something. We're just lacking definitive final version pictures of two GotG sets, but know their content. You're trying to stifle discussion on a discussion forum. If you want nothing but news, there are a lot of Lego news outlets. Discussion of future movie content that's likely to be the subject of upcoming sets is absolutely relevant to everything except the "2014" part. It's very much akin to all the speculation we had before the full set list was known about what we'd be seeing for The Dark World and The Winter Soldier, only I didn't see half as much complaining about it then.

While I sympathize, we get someone at least every five pages saying "this thread has been off topic to the point of being lost for 3 pages now," but things always circle back. It only "derails" (and is still talking about relevant information, really) when there's no news to actually discuss. If you don't want to be a mini-mod, don't. In response to your second post that you made while I was typing this, I don't mean this in a rude way but this thread isn't just about what you want. The fact that the conversation continues to go in the way it does means multiple people want it to, at least enough to keep that discussion going.

One thing I have to comment on, is I see a lot of complaints about them reviewing licensed sets without knowing the source material. Reading some (obviously, since reading) non-video reviews on various sites, I gotta say, have any of you guys read any Clone Wars set reviews on a certain Star Wars-centric Lego site? 'cause wow. They make Brick Show look like scholars by comparison; prefacing every review with "i've never seen Clone Wars" and then going on about not getting the logic behind the fig designs/set build/etc.
-
That was my original argument, too, and why I wouldn't even want an official Deathstroke personally. They won't print all the way around the side of his head to make it truly half-and-half, which means it would look pretty terrible, but on the other hand there's no way they'll make a headpiece if there's even the flimsiest excuse not to.

Typo, meant Cyclops of course (since we have an actual upcoming fig of him).

Much as I like Deathstroke (and whatever there is to be said about differences from source material I really like his portrayal in Arrow), I don't think Lego would do him justice. I imagine we'd get just another printed head rather than a headpiece and Lego wouldn't (couldn't?) print it all the way around the side. Not saying they couldn't do a headpiece, just don't think Lego will after how they've handled Cap (who needs a headpiece like Flash), Cyclops (who could have had a hair piece with visor), Electro (abandoned the green/yellow suit that was probably at least considered considering the prelim image), and many others. They love 'bald' figs in this line.

And if I remember, MODOK at least had a fairly prominent role in it. That may be part of why he's showing up more, now. Super Hero Squad Show (from my memory) was a bit more geared at younger kids; younger kids who are now right in the middle of Lego's target age group. Modok is actually probably quite well known among them. It's also worth noting that regardless of what "tier" of popularity the characters are at in the comic world, it's really all about the cartoons now. Kids don't read comics anymore, generally. Certainly not the 6-10 age group. What kid could afford to? The cartoons are where they know the characters from, as well as the films. Any character with a decent spot in the cartoons has a decent chance of showing up in the merchandise, I'd wager.

Complaining about the "Scarlet speedster" being too red? I think the suit looks pretty cool. Some yellow wouldn't go amiss, but also wouldn't fit with the "dark and gritty" DCTVU that they've established with Arrow. I just hope a reasonable amount of the Flash series takes place during daytime, Arrow is hard to watch sometimes with its "Actors in a dark warehouse with one lamp switched on outside the furthest window, at a bad angle" styling.

If you're coming over here for it, it might still be worthwhile. Physical lego store locations may not be 100% out yet. Wouldn't get my hopes up though.

Well, crap. That's a bummer, really sucks they run a "month of March" promo and it doesn't even last two weeks. You'd think they could anticipate the demand a little better than that. Then again, a lot of new sets are out of stock on S@H so- looking at it cynically- I guess from a business perspective that's "mission accomplished."

It's definitely cool, really detailed, and beautiful to behold... But I don't think I need a $300 Sandcrawler, no matter how mind-blowing it is. Still like the design and it's awesome for the jawa fans out there.

I suspect we'll get at least Ant-man next year when his film comes along since it's a new "franchise," unlike the Cap/Thor sequels whose main characters have been covered by the Avengers sets (and others) other than Malekith/Winter Soldier. Dunno if Wasp is gonna be in the movie though I dunno how they could do Ant-man without Wasp.

It would've been, but in all fairness, the Marvel/DC ratio is already pretty crazily unbalanced this year. I can deal with missing TDW and TWS sets as long as we see Ant-man next year, personally.

It is what it is. I sort of suspect we'll see a Winter Soldier eventually. The Dark World didn't get sets either; I suspect the Iron Man 3 sets didn't do as well as hoped, plus it's easy for movie tie-in sets to fall out of the public's attention as the movie does. The cartoon-based sets don't suffer from that issue as much. I don't mind it too much since this year's sets would suggest we can expect more varied characters from cartoon-based sets (Spider-man excepted) than from movie ones. Iron Man 3 had a lot of, well, Iron Man. Plus several Trevors. Conversely, this wave has given us some more obscure villains like MODOK and Taskmaster, plus a Hydra soldier and a comic-styled Falcon. All things considered I'm still pretty satisfied with that, and maybe giving movie sets to things like GotG that are less likely to get any sort of appearance otherwise. That's more or less how this thread goes. We just switch between tangents that go on for a few pages, then move to another. I see a lot of complaints about it but, on the other hand, at least this topic consistently yields discussion. A lot of others don't!

Has she even been retired that long? I know Two-Face and Lex have barely been off the market- I just picked mine up a couple months ago. Give it a little time, if there's one thing sure in the world it's that Lego will give us more Batman sets.
